Shankar to team up with Yash for a mega-budget war drama!

Tamil filmmaker Shankar is hugely popular for his penchant to helm big-scale films. His films like ‘Sivaji’, ‘Endhiran’ and ‘2.0’ are popular among cinephiles across the country. The director is currently working on ‘Indian 2’ with Kamal Haasan. After its completion, he is planning to make a mega-budget historic action film with some big stars from various languages.

Buzz is that Shankar has already got Kannada star Yash on board. Ever since the release of ‘KGF’, Yash has become a pan-Indian actor and his possible collaboration with Shankar will only enhance his popularity. Apparently, the director is also in talks with several other leading stars including Telugu actor Ram Charan but nothing has been finalized yet.

According to a report in DT Next, the film will start rolling in 2022 and the makers are eyeing to release it only in 2027. Shankar is expected to start pre-production works as soon as he finishes the shoot of ‘Indian 2’. The team has been on a break for sometime due to various reasons including Kamal Haasan’s political campaigning. They are most likely to wrap it up by the end of this year itself.

Vijay-Vijay Sethupathi starrer ‘Master’ continues its domination at the box office as the film entered the elite Rs 200 crore club. It is the fourth successive Vijay film after ‘Mersal’, ‘Sarkar’ and ‘Bigil’ to achieve this feat. Along with the aforementioned three films, ‘Master’ has also become the fourth consecutive film to gross over Rs 100 crore from Tamil Nadu box office alone. The fact that it has managed to achieve such a phenomenal feat despite the pandemic and the 50% audience restriction in theatres speaks a lot about Vijay’s massive stardom and the humongous reception that the film has got.

‘Master’ hit screens on January 13 after almost a 9-month long delay. Its release has given a major booster to the film industry that has been severely hit due to the pandemic. Apart from the excellent performance in the domestic markets, ‘Master’ is also making waves in international markets. Recently, it became the highest grossing movie for the opening weekend, globally.
