Peter Hein makes his directorial debut with a Vietnamese film; Watch the teaser here!

Peter Hein, one of India’s leading stunt choreographers, is making his directorial debut with a Vietnamese film. Titled as ‘Sám Hôi’, the film stars Vietnamese actors Binh Minh and Anh Thu in the lead roles. The makers have released the film’s teaser online. According to Peter Hein, this film revolves around a martial art champion’s struggles. How he tries to find a balance between his profession and family forms the story. The focus is on a father’s love towards his daughter and his struggles.

Peter Hein has assembled as an efficient set for technicians from Indian cinema for his directorial debut. Cinematography is by Bala, who associated DOP Senthil Kumar in ‘Baahubali: The Beginning’. Sam CS of ‘Vikram Vedha’ and ‘Odiyan’ fame is handling the music department and editing is by Raja Ramani.

The film is being made in three languages that are spoken in Vietnam. It is scheduled for release in Vietnam and China on January 15. The makers are also planning to dub the movie in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi based on the original’s reception in those two countries.

Vijay’s ‘Master’ is gearing up for a theatrical release in January during the Pongal holidays. The film has tremendous hype, both among the fans and common cinephiles. Expectations are massive majorly because of the stellar star cast and Vijay’s union with the promising Lokesh Kanagaraj. The film has Vijay Sethupathi, Malavika Mohanan, Shanthanu Bhagyaraj, Arjun Das and many others in major roles. Andrea Jeremiah is also playing a very prominent role in the film but the makers, so far, have kept her character details under wraps. There was no character poster nor was she included in the teaser. She was not even part of the audio launch though Vijay took special mention of her during his speech.

Last day, it was Andrea’s birthday and for the first time, ‘Master’ team revealed her character look. A photo featuring Vijay and Andrea has been sharing online. The actress is said to be playing a grey-shaded, action-oriented role in the film. She had earlier revealed about a memorable car chase sequence she did with Vijay. The two actors are sharing screen space for the first time and it will be exciting to see how their performances turn out.

After ‘Finals’, Rajisha Vijayan is starring in another sports film titled ‘Kho Kho’. The film is written and directed by Rahul Riji Nair of ‘Ottamuri Velicham’ fame. While Finals had the actress playing a cyclist, this time she will be seen as a Kho Kho player. It is a traditional Indian sport, which is also played across South Asia and has a strong presence in South Africa and England.

Last day, the makers released a new poster introducing Rajisha’s character Maria Francis and her team of players. From the first look poster and the newly released one, we can perceive that the film is set in two timelines and Rajisha will be seen both as a player and a coach. ‘Kho Kho’ shoot was wrapped up only recently. After the strenuous shoot that lasted for over two months, the actress took a break from professional commitments and underwent an Ayurvedic treatment to rejuvenate herself.

‘Kho Kho’ has cinematography by Tobin Thomas of ‘Stand Up’ fame and music by Sidhartha Pradeep. Editor-turned-filmmaker Appu Bhattathiri is the post-production supervisor and edits are being done by Christy Sebastian. The film is produced under the banner of First Print Studios.

Aju Varghese and Dhyan Sreenivasan to star in Powder Since 1905

Aju Varghese and Dhyan Sreenivasan are coming together yet again. Titled as ‘Powder Since 1905’, the film is to be directed by debutant Rahul Kallu. Another newcomer, Manaf is scripting then film. The project was officially announced last day on the occasion of Dhyan’s birthday. Aju Varghese, Visakh Subramaniam and Abdul Gafoor are jointly producing the film under the banners of Funtastic Films and Geeyems Entertainments.

The technical crew of ‘Powder Since 1905’ comprises of cinematographer Fazil Nazer, art director Shaji Mukund, costume designer Gayathri Suresh and editor Rathin Radhakrishnan. Arun Muraleedharan will be composing the songs and Dawn Vincent will be handling the background score. More details regarding the supporting cast and when shoot begins are not yet known.

Dhyan Sreenivasan and Aju Varghese are acting together in another film titled ‘Khali Purse of the Billionaires’. Maxwell Jose is directing the film, which is getting ready as a proper entertainer.

Kalidas Jayaram is currently in the best phase of his acting career. The youngster is getting appreciation from all corners for his highly poignant performance in the recently released Tamil anthology, ‘Paava Kadhaigal’. His segment ‘Thangam’ directed by Sudha Kongara has been rated by many as the best among the four films in the anthology.

Malayalam Jomon T John, who shot the film, thanked Sudha Kongara for offering him the opportunity. He also noted that it was extremely hard to shoot the film due to the emotional toll it took on him. In his Instagram post, he was also short of words while mentioning Kalidas’ performance. Jomon has written,

Thankyou Sudha Maam !! When this script came to me with this plot which revolves around different elements of life . I never expected to experience the emotional ride and I found it extremely hard to shoot and @kalidas_jayaram no words bro

Paava Kadhaigal’ also has films helmed by Gautham Menon, Vetrimaaran, and Vignesh Shivan. All the four films will deal with how love, pride, sin and honour influence complex human relationships. Except for Vignesh’s film, which is a dark comedy, all the other three films offer a very intense experience with several gut-wrenching moments.

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has shared the teaser of his upcoming film ‘Antim: The Final Truth’. The film stars his brother-in-law Aayush Sharma in the lead role. In the first look teaser, the two actors are seen flexing their muscles in a stiff face off. Salman plays a Sikh policeman in the film while Aayush Sharma will be seen as a gangster. The latter has undergone a remarkable transformation for playing this character. He has worked hard to develop a ripped physique and looks fitter than ever. It will be interesting to see Ayush and Salman looking horns.

‘Antim’ directed by Mahesh Manjekar is said to be an action packed entertainer. It is an adaptation of the Zee5 Marathi crime drama ‘Mulshi Pattern’. The film also stars Saiee Majrekar and Nikitin Dheer in prominent roles. Salman Khan’s turban look had gone viral when it was first unveiled. His is said to be more of an extended cameo role. He has allotted a schedule of around 20-25 days for the film.

The makers of Kunchacko Boban’s new film ‘Mohan Kumar Fans’ have released a Christmas special poster. The film is directed by Jis Joy, who is fresh from the back to back hits success of ‘Sunday Holiday’ and ‘Vijay Superum Pournamiyum’. His new film is said to be meta-movie set in the world of cinema.

‘Mohan Kumar Fans’ has its story penned by the National award winners Bobby-Sanjay. Director Jis Joy has written the screenplay, dialogues and song lyrics. According to Jis Joy, ‘Mohan Kumar Fans’ will be on similar lines to ‘Udhayananu Tharam’. It has a lot of entertaining factors to satisfy a wide range of audience.

Suraj Venjaramoodu and Nimisha Sajayan are coming together for a new film titled ‘The Great Indian Kitchen’. It is written and directed by Jeo Baby of ‘2 Penkuttikal’ and ‘Kilometers and Kilometers’ fame. The film’s teaser got released online last day. From the teaser, it looks like a family drama centered around a newly wed couple.

Suraj Venjaramoodu and Nimisha Sajayan look great together in the two minute long teaser as the two talented actors complement each other. This is their second film together after sharing screen space in the National award winning film, ‘Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum’.

‘The Great Indian Kitchen’ has cinematography by Salu K Thomas. Francis Louis is the editor and Sooraj S Kurup is handling the music department along with Mathews Pulickan. Dijo Augustine, Jomon Jacob, Vishnu Rajan and Sajin S Raj are jointly producing the film under the banners of Mankind Cinemas, Symmetry Cinemas and Cinema Cooks.

Rana Daggubati joins Pawan Kalyan in Ayyappanum Koshiyum Telugu remake

After numerous speculations, the lead cast of the Telugu remake of superhit Malayalam film ‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’ has finally been announced. Pawan Kalyan and Rana Daggubatti will be playing the two central characters. While Pawan will be reprising Biju Menon’s character, Rana will be playing the part essayed by Prithviraj Sukumaran.

Saagar K Chandra will be directing the film, which is yet-to-be titled. He has earlier helmed films like ‘Ayyare’ and ‘Appatlo Okkadundevadu’. Sithara Entertainments, one of the leading banners in Telugu industry, is producing the film. Prasad Murella is the DOP and music department will be handled by S Thaman.

‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’ directed by late Sachy revolves around a raging conflict between a policeman and a retired havildar. The film was both a critical and commercial success. Inspired by its success, top production houses from Tamil and Hindi industries had also bagged the remake rights. Announcement regarding the cast is expected to be made soon.

As reported by us earlier, director Mysskin is teaming up with Andrea Jeremiah for a new film titled ‘Pisasu 2’. Though it is not a sequel to the director’s 2014 film ‘Pisasu’, this is also a horror flick. Today, as Andrea celebrates her birthday, the makers have released the first look poster. In the poster, the actress looks like an Anglo-Indian lady. And from the sepia tone, we presume that it is set in the flashback portions. Sharing the poster, Mysskin tweeted,

‘Pisasu’ that got released in 2014 was a brilliantly made horror film that was devoid of all the stereotypes that are usually associated with the genre. Naga and Malayali actress Prayaga Martin had played the lead roles in it. The film was a box office success it was also remade in multiple languages.

Expectations will naturally be high on ‘Pisasu 2’. Along with Andrea, the film also has Rajkumar Pitchumani and Shamna Kasim is major roles. Rajkumar had previously played the villain role in Mysskin’s film ‘Psycho’. Andrea has also worked with the director in ‘Thupparivalan’. Ilaiyaraja’s son Karthik Raja is composing music for this film.
