Manju Warrier heaps praise on Soorarai Pottru team; Showers special love for Urvashi

Suriya’s lastest release ‘Soorarai Pottru’ is the current talk in social medias. The film has been garnering excellent response from all corners. Directed by Sudha Kongara, the film is based on the life of Captain GR Gopinath, the founder of Air Deccan. In this fictionalized account of his life, Suriya plays the lead character named Nedumaaran Rajangam and Aparna Balamurali essays his wife’s role. Veteran Urvashi has also essayed an important role as Suriya’s mother.

Malayalam actress Manju Warrier has showered praised on team ‘Soorarai Pottru’ through her social media handle. She mentioned Sudha, Suriya and Aparna in the post. She also had some special love for Urvashi, whom she called her most favourite and ‘our pride’.

Urvashi, who has mostly been doing comedy-roles in Tamil, has a strong character in ‘Soorarai Pottru’ and she delivers it quite effortlessly. Almost all the reviews have had a special mention about her performance. This is her second major outing this year after the segment ‘Ilamai Idho Idho’ (III) in Amazon’s anthology ‘Putham Pudhu Kaalai’. Interestingly, that film was also directed by Sudha Kongara and Urvashi’s performance got noted.

Appreciation keep pouring in for ‘Soorarai Pottru’ that got released in Amazon Prime Video on Wednesday. Critics, celebs and commoners have all been heaping praise on the film. The film directed by Sudha Kongara is about a common man’s journey from humble backgrounds to fulfill his dream of launching his own aircraft business with the aim of serving the underprivileged. It is based on the life of GR Gopinath, the founder of Air Deccan.

The film on a whole is highly inspiring. Since it is inspired from a real story, the impact is double and the audience get to connect instantly. Echoing the thoughts is Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin. In his Twitter handle, the actor has written about he inspired he feels after watching the film. He even wrote that he’ll remember the film each time he boards a flight next. His tweet reads,

“Change” is the only constant in life, while the journey of the person trying to make that “change” can be toxic and challenging.

‘Soorarai Pottru’ continues to excellent response in social medias. Critics, celebs and commoners have all been heaping praise on the film. Directed by Sudha Kongara, the film is inspired from the life of Captain GR Gopinath, the founder of Air Deccan. It is based on his book ‘Simply Fly’, which details his journey from humble backgrounds to fulfilling his dream of launching his own aircraft business with the aim of serving the underprivileged. Suriya plays the lead character named Nedumaaran Rajangam and Aparna Balamurali essays his wife’s role.

After watching the film, GR Gopinath has shared his views through his Twitter handle. Though he admits that it is a heavily fictionalized film, he was all praise of the makers for capturing the true essence of the story of his book. He particularly mentioned the performances of the two lead actors — Suriya and Aparna Balamurali besides showering praise on director Sudha Kongara. He even added that the family portions moved him to tears.

In a series of tweets, Gopinath has written,

Sorarai potru ..Heavily fictionalised but outstanding in capturing the true essence of the story of my book. A real roller coaster.
Yes watched it last night. Couldn’t help laughing and crying on many family scenes that brought memories.

Dramatised but true to the undying spirit of triumph of hope against struggles and tribulations of an entrepreneur with disadvantaged rural background over overwhelming odds.

The portrayal of my wife Bhargavi by Aparna was very well etched out , of a woman who had her own mind , strong but soft , feisty and fearless and an inspiration to rural women especially who are equal and can be entrepreneurs in their own right.

And Suriya was powerful and carried off the part of an entrepreneur obsessed to the point of madness that makes dreams come true. A timely and great uplifting story in these times of gloom.

And kudos and big salute to Director Sudha , to have balanced very deftly a male centric story lead by Suriya by portraying a wife acted by Aparna who was a powerful counter balance in an inspiring and heartwarming way

After wrapping up the shoot of ‘Drishyam 2’ in quick time, director Jeethu Joseph is already into the post-production works. Interestingly, he is working on the edits of ‘Drishyam 2’ and his shelved project ‘Ram’ simultaneously. The director has shared a photo of the same from the edit table in his social media handle.

‘Ram’ starring superstar Mohanlal was the first to go on floors earlier this year. Shoot was progressing at a brisk pace when the pandemic brought things to a standstill. Since the film has to be shot in overseas locations, the makers decided to shelve the project for the time being. They are expected to resume works once the situation gets better.

‘Ram’ is said to be a thriller made on a big scale. Along with Mohanlal, it also has some other popular names like Trisha, Indrajith Sukumaran, Adil Hussain, Leon Lishoy and Durga Krishnan. Some major portions where orginally planned to be shot in Egypt, London and Istanbul. After the virus outbreak, it remains to be seen how they plan to complete the shoot. Ramesh R Pillai and Sudhan S Pillai are jointly producing the film under the banner of Abhishek Films.

‘Drishyam 2’, meanwhile, is the sequel to the all-time blockbuster film that got released in 2013. The second part once again revolves around the lives of Georgekutty and his family. Along with Mohanlal, actors like Asha Sarath, Siddique, Meena, Esther Anil and Ansiba Hassan are also their reprising their roles. The makers have confirmed that the film will be released only in theatres.

Nani and Nazriya team up for the first time!

Malayali actress Nazriya is all set to make her Telugu debut. She has signed a musical rom-com that has Nani in the lead. The film is written and directed by Vivek Athreya of ‘Mental Madhilo’ and ‘Brochevarevarura’ fame. Mythri Movie Makers is producing the film. Its title announcement will be made on November 21.

Ever since getting married in 2014, Nazriya has been very choosy with her films as she has done just two full fledged roles — Jenny in ‘Koode’ and Esther in ‘Trance’. She had also made a guest appearance in ‘Maniyarayile Ashokan’. Despite her popularity in the South, Nazriya has not signed a Telugu film till now. So it will be very interesting to see what prompted her to take up Vivek Athreya’s film.

The director’s earlier two films — ‘Mental Madhilo’ and ‘Brochevarevarura’ were successful at the box office, so expectations will be high on his new film. Since Nani and Nazriya are working together for the first time, their chemistry will also be something exciting to look forward to.

As announced by the makers, the first video song from Dhanush starrer ‘Jagame Thandhiram’ has been released. The song titled ‘Bujji’ is sung by Anirudh Ravichander and composer Santhosh Narayanan. Vivek has penned the lyrics. It is a peppy song featuring Dhanush and a bunch of dancers dancing in the streets of UK.

This is actually the second single from ‘Jagame Thandhiram’. Earlier on Dhanush’s birthday, a mass number titled ‘Rakita Rakita Rakita’ was released. Sung by the ‘Rowdy Baby’ combo of Dhanush and Dhee, the track has already become a huge hit.

‘Jagame Thandhiram’ is written and directed by Karthik Subbaraj. Aishwarya Lekshmi and ‘Game Over’ fame Sanchana Natarajan will be seen as the female leads. Said to be a gangster flick, major portions of the film is set in the UK. Dhanush will be appearing in two different looks in the film, one as a Madurai based gangster and the other set in London.

Hollywood actor James Cosmo, who has acted in films like ‘Braveheart’, ‘Troy’ and the popular TV series ‘Game of Thrones’, is also essaying a crucial role in the film. Malayali actor Joju George and ‘Madras’ fame Kalaiyarasan are also part of the supporting cast.

Lokesh Kanagaraj has fast become one of the most wanted filmmakers in Tamil cinema. After making a noteworthy debut in 2017 with ‘Maanagaram’, the youngster impressed everyone with the blockbuster success of ‘Kaithi’. Immediately after that, he signed ‘Master’ with Thalapathy Vijay.

Even before its release, Lokesh has got an opportunity to make a film with his idol Kamal Haasan. Titled as ‘Vikram’, the film is expected to be a spin-off of Kamal’s character from the 1986 film of the same name. In the title teaser of Lokesh’s film, the same iconic background score from the yesteryear film was reused.

Lokesh has already begun the pre-production works of ‘Vikram’. It is learnt that the same technical team of ‘Master’ is being retained. Music department will be handled by Anirudh Ravichander. Cinematographer Sathyan Sooryan and editor Philomin Raj, who both were part of ‘Kaithi’ and ‘Master’, are also said to be on board.

Kamal’s own production house Raaj Kamal Film International (RKFI) is producing ‘Vikram’, which is planned as a summer 2021 release.

Aparna Balamurali garners praise for her fantastic performance in Soorarai Pottru

Ever since its release in Amazon Prime Video last night, ‘Soorarai Pottru’ has been getting excellent response in social medias. Critics and commoners have unanimously rated it as Suriya’s best in several years. Along with Suriya, his co-star Aparna Balamurali is also getting appreciation from all corners. As the free-spirited and resolute Bommi, the Malayali actress has delivered a stellar performance.

Though Aparna has already acted in a couple of Tamil films — 8 Thottakal’ and ‘Sarvam Thaala Mayam’, ‘Soorarai Pottru’ is expected to give her that much-needed big break in K-Town. Unlike the one-note heroines we usually get to see in commercial films, Aparna’s Bommi is very integral to the storyline.

Director Sudha Kongara had roped in Aparna after conducting a few auditions. Prior to shoot, the actress had also shed weight and underwent some workshops to get into the skin of the character. She has also dubbed for her character in the typical Madurai slang. For that, she took the help of a special dubbing coach. Aparna not just slays it with the Madurai slang, but also her body language of a bold and ambitious woman.

The Bommi-Maaran relationship dynamics is also a very unique one and it works largely because of the lovely chemistry between Suriya and Aparna. In a particular scene, when Maaran tries to put down Bommi’s business, the latter gives it back strongly as Aparna’s expressive eyes speak volumes.

Of late, Suriya has been spotted sporting a long hairstyle. There have been several speculations about the same. Apparently, it is his new look for Gautham Menon’s film in the Netflix anthology ‘Navarasa’. The actor confirmed this in a recent interview. During the lockdown days, he hadn’t cut his hair and let it grow loose. Gautham Menon liked the look and asked Suriya to retain it for the film. The actor-director duo is working together 12 years after the National award winning ‘Vaaranam Aayiram’, so cinephiles are highly excited about their reunion.

‘Navarasa’ brings together some of the best talents of the Tamil film industry. For this anthology, nine filmmakers Bejoy Nambiar, Gautham Menon, Karthik Subbaraj, Karthick Naren, KV Anand, Ponram, Rathindran Prasad, Arvind Swami and Halitha Shameem are teaming up for the first time. The anthology is based on the Navarasas, the 9 human emotions. Each film will be based on particular emotion. Suriya, Arvind Swami, Vijay Sethupathi, Revathy, Nithya Menen, Parvathy Thiruvoth, Siddharth, Aishwarya Rajesh, Poorna, Rythvika, Prakash Raj, Gautham Karthik, Bonny Simha, Vikranth, Ashok Selvan and many others are part of the cast.

‘Navarasa’ is being made for the welfare of the members of the Tamil film industry whose livelihood have been severely hit by the pandemic. The nine short films feature a big line up of over 40 actors and several hundred creative and film technicians. All of them are contributing towards the film without remuneration, with only the costs of production being associated.

Official: Master teaser to be out on Diwali day!

The makers of Thalapathy Vijay’s ‘Master’ have announced that the teaser will be out on Diwali day (November 14). A new poster featuring Vijay and the antagonist Vijay Sethupathi has also been released online. It has come as a great news for the fans who have been waiting patiently for the teaser for a long time. The makers had earlier said that the teaser/trailer will only be out after a confirmation in the release date. With the new announcement, it seems like they are hopeful of an early 2021 release.

‘Master’ is written and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. Vijay plays the part of a college professor in it. Malavika Mohanan is paired with him. Vijay Sethupathi plays a cold-blooded gangster named Bhavani. Andrea Jeremiah is also there in a grey-shaded character. Shanthanu, Arjun Das, Gouri Kishan and many others are part of the cast.

Anirudh Ravichander handles the music department. His songs have already been hugely successful. Fans will now be excited to see how the composer has scored for the teaser.
