Pappa: Unni Mukundan’s next is a political thriller

Unni Mukundan’s new film ‘Pappa’ has just been announced through Facebook. Vishnu Mohan, who is currently directing the star in ‘Meppadiyaan’, will be helming this film as well. The makers have announced the film by releasing a motion poster. It features an intense looking Unni Mukundan clad in an all-white attire.

‘Pappa’, as per the makers, is a political action-thriller. It is the first time Unni is attempting this genre in his almost 10-year long career. Along with him, the film will have a big supporting cast, which the makers are currently finalizing. On the technical front, director Vishnu has retained the same core team from ‘Meppadiyan’. Neil D’Cunha will be wielding the camera and music will be scored by Rahul Subramanian. Shameer Muhammed has been assigned as the editor. Navaratri United Visions is producing the film.

Unni Mukundan, meanwhile is shooting for ‘Meppadiyan’, a film he has pinned high expectations on. He is turning a producer with this film, which is shaping up as a family entertainer.

Mohanlal as Neyyattinkara Gopan in B Unnikrishnan’s mass entertainer, Aarattu!

Mohanlal’s new film with director B Unnikrishnan is all set to go on floors. As per reports, the film has been titled as ‘Aarattu’ and Mohanlal will be seen playing a larger-than-life character named Neyyattinkara Gopan in it. Udhayakrishna is scripting the film, which is basically a mass-masala entertainer. Set in a rural backdrop, the film will have action, comedy and all essential commercial ingredients in it.

Shraddha Srinath of ‘Vikram Vedha’ fame has been signed as the female lead. This is her second outing in Malayalam after the 2015-released ‘Kohinoor’. She will be playing an IAS officer’s role in the film. The supporting cast includes Sai Kumar, Siddique, Nedumudi Venu, Indrans Vijayaraghavan, Swasika, Rachana Narayanankutty and Sheela. Vijay Ulaganath is the DOP and edits will be handled by Shameer Muhammed. Rahul Raj is the music director.

The makers are planning to start shooting by the end of this month after Mohanlal returns back from his Dubai trip.

After several months of waiting, the teaser of ‘Master’ has finally arrived. Fans had pinned high expectations and staying true to that, the teaser is nothing short of a treat for Vijay fans. Thalapathy, as he is fondly called, looks in fine form and Anirudh adds to the mass factor with his killer background score. Along with the YouTube release, the teaser is also set be screened in theatres across Tamil Nadu and Puducherry at 6.30 PM.

‘Master’ directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj has Vijay and Vijay Sethupathi in the leads. While the former plays the role of a college professor in it, Sethupathi essays the part a cold-blooded gangster named Bhavani. It is the face-off between these two top stars that raises the expectations for ‘Master’.

Malavika Mohanan is paired with Vijay in the film. Andrea Jeremiah is also there in a grey-shaded character. Shanthanu Bhagyaraj, Arjun Das, Gouri Kishan and many others are part of the supporting cast.

‘Master’ was originally schedule for April release this year but had to be postponed due to the pandemic-induced lockdown. It is said that the makers are eyeing to release during the Pongal season in January.

Promising young actor Kichu Tellus, known for his performance as Pork Varkey in ‘Angamaly Diaries’, has got engaged with Roshna Ann Roy, who has acted in films like ‘Oru Adaar Love’ and ‘Dhamaka’. Their engagement video has been shared online and the couple look great together. The two have known each for long before deciding to spend the rest of their lives together.

Earlier, while making the relationship public, Roshna had written in her Facebook page,

Kichu is scripting the film along with his ‘Angamaly Diaries’ co-star Vineeth Viswam. ‘Swathanthryam Ardharathriyil’ fame Tinu Pappachan is directing it. Antony Varghese, Arjun Ashokan and several actors from ‘Angamaly Diaries’ are part of the cast.

Vishnu Unnikrishnan and Saniya Iyappan team up for Krishnankutty Pani Thudangi

Vishnu Unnikrishnan and ‘Queen’ fame Saniya Iyappan will be seen playing the lead roles in a new film titled ‘Krishnankutty Pani Thudangi’. It is directed by Sooraj Tom, who has previously helmed ‘Pa Va’ and ‘Ente Mezhuthiri Athazhangal’. Anand Madhusoodanan, the music director of ‘Pretham’ and ‘Njan Marykutty’, has scripted this film.

‘Krishnankutty Pani Thudangi’ is expected to be a full-on fun entertainer like the usual Vishnu Unnikrishnan films. An animation teaser has been released by the makers and from that, we presume that the film will have a doze of thrill and horror. Dharmajan Bolgatty is also part of the cast.

Jithu Damodar is the DOP and background score is handled by script writer Anand Madhusoodanan himself. Kiran Das is the editor. Shoot is scheduled to begin in Thodupuzha from November 23. Noble Jose, who had produced Sooraj Tom’s ‘Ente Mezhuthiri Athazhangal’, is producing this film as well.

Prithviraj begins shooting for his cop film Cold Case

After recovering from Covid-19, actor Prithviraj wasted no time in resuming his professional commitments. He completed the remaining portions of Dijo Jose Antony’s ‘Jana Gana Mana’ and has now joined the sets of ‘Cold Case’. As he is playing a cop’s role in the film, he is currently sporting a typical policeman’s look.

‘Cold Case’ is an investigative a thriller directed by cinematographer-turned-filmmaker Tanu Balak. Aditi Balan of ‘Aruvi’ fame has been signed as the female lead. This is actually her second Malayalam film. She is part of the upcoming Nivin Pauly starrer ‘Padavettu’.

‘Cold Case’ is scripted by Srinath V Nath. Jomon T John and Girish Gangadharan are the cinematographers. The film is set in the Thiruvananthapuram-Kanyakumari region. It is being produced by Anto Joseph and Plan J Studios, the banner that co-produced ‘Thanneer Mathan Dinangal’.

An official announcement regarding the entire cast and crew will be made soon.

Dhyan Sreenivasan is turning a script writer once again for a new film titled ‘Prakash Parakatte’. Dhyan himself is playing one of the leads in it along with Dileesh Pothan, Aju Varghese, Saiju Kurup and Mathew Thomas. The film’s first look poster has been released through Prithviraj’s social media handle.

‘Prakash Parakkatte’ is directed by Shahad. Aju Varghese, Vishak Subramaniam and Tinu Thomas are jointly producing the film. From the first look poster, it looks like a fun entertainer. According to Aju, the film is about a beautiful, relatable journey of Prakashan – a young boy, his big dreams and the priceless value of family and relationships.

The long wait for ‘Master’ teaser is coming to an end today. As confirmed by the makers, the teaser will be out in Sun TV’s YouTube channel at 6 PM. Apart from that, the teaser will also be screened in theatres acrosss Tamil Nadu and Puducherry at 6.30 PM. After nearly a 7-month long gap, it was only recently that theatres in Tamil Nadu resumed functioning. Considering the pandemic threat, it remains to be seen if fans will be thronging theatres in large numbers to watch the teaser.

Eeswaran teaser: Simbu’s comeback film is a mass action entertainer!

Today, on the festive day of Diwali, the makers of Simbu’s new film ‘Eeswaran’ have released the teaser online. Interestingly, the teaser was released early in the morning at 4.32 AM coinciding with the auspicious Brahma Muhurtham. The teaser is exactly like what one would expect from a big star film. It has the typical hero elevation shots, thumping background score and punch dialogues.

The biggest highlight of the teaser is the physical transformation of Simbu. The actor has shed a good amount of weight as he sports a lean and fit look that reminds us of his ‘Kovil’ days. ‘Eeswaran’ looks like a family drama set in a rural backdrop. After Simbu, it is veteran filmmaker Bharathiraja who is given more prominence in the teaser. So it looks like he is playing an important role. Nidhi Aggarwal plays the female lead.

‘Eeswaran’ is written and directed by Susienthiran. The film has Thaman composing the music and Tirru handling the cinematography. It is produced by Madhav Media and D Company. The makers have announced the film as a Pongal 2021 release.
