A new photo of Malayalam superstars Mohanlal, Prithviraj Sukumaran and Dulquer Salmaan has just been shared online. It is not often that we get to see stars bonding outside their workplace and so naturally, the photo is going viral. Dulquer and Prithviraj have been spotted together quite a few times in the past few weeks. A video of them taking their fancy cars on a spin had grabbed attention. Prithviraj also attended Dulquer’s birthday party last month along with his wife, Supriya.

On the work front, all three of them have multiple projects lined up. Mohanlal is getting ready to start shooting for ‘Drishyam 2’. It is set to be the first mainstream Malayalam film to go on floors post the lockdown. The makers are planning to start shooting on September 14. As the Covid-19 crisis is worsening, shoot will happen as per the safety protocols laid by the government. To ensure complete safety of the team members, the whole cast and crew will be quarantined during the entire duration of shoot.

Ever since his return from Jordan, Prithviraj has been busy working on his physique. He had gone through a drastic physical transformation for ‘Aadujeevitham’ by shedding lot of weight. From his recent photos, it is evident that he is getting back to good shape. The star has films like ‘Kaduva’, ‘Kaaliyan’, ‘Karachi 81’ and ‘Vaariyamkunnan’ lined up. He has also signed for India’s first movie to be shot completely in virtual production. It is conceptualized and directed by Gokulraj Baskar.

Dulquer meanwhile will resume shooting for his Tamil film ‘Hey Sinamika’, directed by Brinda. He also has a cop film with Rosshan Andrrews and a trilingual period-love story coming up.

Asif Ali’s next titled as Maheshum Maruthiyum; Prithviraj unveils the first look poster

The first look poster of Asif Ali’s new film ‘Maheshum Maruthiyum’ has just been released by actor Prithviraj Sukumaran through his social media handle. Sethu of ‘Oru Kuttanadan Blog’ fame is directing the film. Veteran actor Maniyanpilla Raju is producing it in association with VSL Film House.

According to director Sethu, ‘Maheshum Maruthiyum’ is a triangular love story between Mahesh, a girl and his Maruti 800 car. The story revolves around Mahesh’s emotional attachment to the vehicle and how things change after a girl enters his life.

He was shooting for Rajeev Ravi’s cop-thriller ‘Kuttavum Shikshayum’ when the lockdown was announced. ‘Kunjeldho’ directed by RJ Mathukutty is most likely to be his next release. He also has ‘Ellam Sheriyaakum’ with Jibu Jacob, ‘Thattum Vellattam’ with Mridul Nair and and an untitled film with M Padmakumar coming up.

Premam combo Alphonse Puthren and Anwar Rasheed set to reunite for Mohanlal project?

It has been five years since the release of ‘Premam’. The Nivin Pauly-starrer rom-com directed by Alphonse Puthren was a sensational success all across the South and the film still has a huge fan base. Ever since then, cinephiles have been eagerly waiting to hear about Alphonse’s next. Though the director had planned to make a few projects in-between, nothing materialized.

Anwar Rasheed, who produced ‘Premam’, has now revealed that he will be backing Alphonse Puthren’s next as well. Though Puthren had been planning to make an ambitious musical film in Tamil, Anwar Rasheed has informed that theirs will be a different project. According to him, it is a Malayalam film with an interesting thread which is being written by Alphonse himself. The project is still in the early stages, so details about the cast and crew have not been divulged.

Recently in an interview, Alphonse Puthren had revealed that he is working on a script for superstar Mohanlal. He even added that it will be a better fanboy film than Rajinikanth’s ‘Petta’. It remains to be seen if this is the same project that Anwar Rasheed is producing.

Angamaly Diaries fame Appani Sarath turns scriptwriter!

After making a stellar debut with ‘Angamaly Diaries’, Appani Sarath went on to star in films like ‘Velipadinte Pusthakam’, ‘Pokkiri Simon’ and ‘Paipin Chuvattile Pranayam’. He then made brief appearances in Tamil films ‘Chekka Chivantha Vaanam’ and ‘Sandakozhi 2’. He also starred in the Zee5 Original web series ‘Auto Shankar’.

Sarath is turning a scriptwriter with a new film titled ‘Charam’. Debutant Jomy Joseph is directing the film, the title poster of which has been released online. Besides penning the story and screenplay, Sarath will also be seen playing the lead role. Sinoj Varghese, Selva Pandian and Rajesh Sharma will be essaying the other major roles.

‘Charam’ has dialogues written by Manu S Plavila. Cinematographer Nithin Dhavan, editor Nikhil Sreekumar and music director Leela L Girish Kuttan form the core technical team. Director Jomy himself is producing the film under the banner of St. Mariya Productions. The makers are planning to start shooting by the first week of September.

One of Malayalam cinema’s most successful filmmakers, Anwar Rasheed is all set to make his entry to Kollywood. His Tamil directorial debut will be scripted by Malayalam filmmaker Midhun Manuel Thomas, who last made the blockbuster-thriller, ‘Anjaam Pathiraa’. The film will have Arjun Das of ‘Kaithi’ fame in the lead. Midhun and Anwar are collaborating for the first time and with Arjun Das as the hero, this is certainly an exciting project.

In a recent interview, Anwar shared more details about his decision to foray into Tamil film industry. Apparently, he has been a Tamil cinema follower from his childhood and always wanted to be a part of the industry. According to him, there is no other regional industry in India like Tamil to make films with such great entertainment value.

Anwar’s Tamil debut is set in a rural backdrop. He roped in Arjun Das after being impressed with his performance in ‘Kaithi’. The director himself is producing the film under his own banner. More details are expected to be out in the coming days.

Confirmed: Udhayanidhi Stalin to play the lead in Article 15 Tamil remake!

Superhit Hindi film ‘Article 15’ is set to be remade in various regional languages. Bollywood-based producer Boney Kapoor had bagged the Tamil remake rights of the film. Initially, there were speculations about Thala Ajith starring in the Tamil remake but it never materialized. It has now been confirmed that the makers have got Udhayanidhi Stalin on board.

‘Kanaa’ fame Arunraja Kamaraja will be directing the remake version. It will be interesting to see how Udhayanidhi reprises Ayushmann Khuranna’s role from the original. This is also the first time he is playing a police officer’s role. Since ‘Article 15’ has a storyline with a nationwide appeal, it should work with the Tamil audience as well.

‘Article 15’ directed by Anubhav Sinha is one of the most acclaimed films in Hindi cinema in recent years. The film talks about the Article 15 of the Constitution of India, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of religion, race, caste, sex or place of birth. Upon release, the film earned widespread critical acclaim and emerged as a huge commercial success as well.

The makers of ‘Maniyarayile Ashokan’ have released a new song online. The track titled ‘Olu’ is a melody number sung by Sid Sriram. Sreehari K Nair has composed the track and lyrics is penned by the film’s director Shamsu Zayba. Recently, another romantic song titled ‘Peyyum Nilavu’ was released. The song rendered by KS Harisankar met with good reception from music lovers.

‘Maniyarayile Ashokan’ starring Jacob Gregory in the lead is said to be a fun rom-com set in a rural backdrop. Anupama Parameswaran, Anu Sithara, Shritha Sivadas, Nayana Elza, Shine Ton Chacko and Krishna Shankar are also part of the supporting cast. Sunny Wayne will also be seen in a cameo role in the film.

The film is scripted by Vineeth Krishnan and cinematography is handled by Sajad Kukku. Dulquer Salmaan and Jacob Gregory are jointly producing the film. Though the makers are yet to officially announce it, talks in social medias suggest that film will be releasing directly in Netflix on August 31.

The trailer of Vijay Sethupathi starrer ‘Laabam’ has been released online. National award winning filmmaker SP Jhananathan is helming the film. The director is noted for his films like ‘Iyarkai’ and ‘Peranmai’. Like his earlier films, ‘Laabam’ also looks like a socially relevant one that discusses about the plight of the farmers in the country today.

Vijay Sethupathi plays a character named Pakkiri, who is the leader of the farmers association. Shruti Haasan essays a character named Sriranjani, who is a singer who travels to different places to educate people. Jagapathi Babu plays the the antagonist’s role. ‘Madras’ fame Kalaiyarasan, Sai Dhansika and Daniel are also there in prominent roles.

On the technical front, D Imman is handling the music department and the film has cinematography is by Ramji. Director Arumugakumar and Vijay Sethupathi are jointly producing the film. The makers are planning to release the film in theatres once the Corona-crisis gets over.

The film has been titled as as ‘Maheshum Marutiyum’ and it will be produced by veteran actor Maniyanpilla Raju. Confirmed: Soorarai Pottru to release on Amazon Prime

A huge announcement has just been made regarding the release of Suriya’s much-hyped film ‘Soorarai Pottru’. The film will be releasing directly on Amazon Prime. It will start premiering from October 30. At a time when Tamil film industry is still debating over OTT release, this is indeed a big announcement that might prove to be a game-changer. It is not often that a big star film like this get an OTT release.

Soorarai Pottru is produced jointly by Suriya’s 2D Entertainment and Guneet Monga’s Sikhya Entertainment. The makers had originally planned to release the film during this year’s summer but the pandemic changed everything. The delay in release must have incurred big financial loss. Even if theatres open in the next couple of months, audience count is most likely to be very less initally. All these factors must have been taken into account before finally deciding to release the film in Amazon Prime.

‘Soorarai Pottru’ is a very ambitious film directed by Sudha Kongara. Everything about the film including its teaser, trailer and other promos have all been highly promising. The film is loosely based on the life of GR Gopinath, the founder of Air Deccan. It follows the journey of Nedumaaran Rajangam Maara, a common man hailing from Madurai who dreams of owning an aircraft business. Suriya essays the role of Maara and Malayali actress Aparna Balamurali’s plays his wife’s character.
