Jeethu Joseph to proceed with another film before resuming Ram shoot!

As we already know, the ‘Drishyam’ combo of Mohanlal and Jeethu Joseph are coming together for a new film titled ‘Ram’. Touted to be an unusual mass entertainer, the film has a star-studded cast comprising of actors like Trisha, Adil Hussain, Indrajith Sukumaran, Durga Krishna of ‘Vimaanam’ fame, Leona Lishoy and many others.

‘Ram’shoot was progressing at a brisk pace when the Indian government announced total lockdown. They still have some major portions left to be shot in UK. Due to the current scenario where countries across the world are affected by Covid-19, the makers are thinking about shelving the project briefly before things return back to normalcy.

Jeethu Joseph revealed this in a recent interview with Maneesh Narayanan of The Cue. The director also added that he is planning to proceed with another film before resuming works for ‘Ram’. Script works for the same have already been completed and it is comparatively a small scale film with a thriller touch to it. The entire film will be shot in Kerala and they are planning to go on floors as when the government grants permission. Details regarding cast and crew are not yet known.

New release plans announced for Rajinikanth’s Annatthe

Superstar Rajinikanth’s ‘Annaathe’ was originally slated for release this coming Diwali in November. However, due to the lockdown and subsequent delay in shoot, the makers have now changed their plans. It has just been officially announced that the film will be hitting screens for Pongal in January, 2021.

‘Annatthe’ directed by Siva is said to be a rural-based mase entertainer. The film has a star-studded cast, which includes four female leads — Keerthy Suresh, Meena, Khushbu and Nayanthara. Prakash Raj, Sathish, Vela Ramamoorthy, Soori, Bala and many others form the supporting cast.

‘Annatthe’ is expected to be on the lines of director Siva’s previous film ‘Viswasam’ with high importance to family emotions. Reports suggest that it is the story of an endearing brother-sister relationship. Rajinikanth and Keerthy Suresh play siblings in the film while Nayanthara will be seen as the superstar’s pair.

‘Annatthe’ has music by Imman, cinematography by Vetri and edits handed by Ruben. Sun Pictures is producing the film.

Post-production works resume for Vijay’s Master!

After almost two months of lockdown, Tamil film industry is set to resume works. Firstly, permission has been granted to proceed with the post-production works. In a statement released by FEFSI, it has been informed that editing works of the much-hyped Vijay starrer ‘Master’ will resume from today.

Vijay fans were eagerly waiting for the release of ‘Master’ when Covid-19 played spoilsport. The film was originally supposed to hit screens on April 9 but due to the lockdown, the makers were forced to drop all their plans. While fans have been requesting to atleast release the trailer, the makers have informed that the trailer will be out only after the film’s final release date is confirmed.

Apart from ‘Master’, post-production works for some other Tamil films like Sivakarthikeyan’s ‘Doctor’, ‘Bhoomi’, ‘Mookuthi Amman’, ‘Ka Pae Ranasingham’, ‘Chakra’, ‘Raangi’ and ‘Kabadadaari’ have also begun.

Tere Bina: Salman Khan and Jacqueline Fernandez look great together in this lockdown special music video!

For the last couple of months, Bollywood stars Salman Khan and Jacqueline Fernandez had been quarantining at the former’s farmhouse in Panvel. Making the best of their time, a music video was shot within the picturesque premises of the farmhouse. Titled as ‘Tere Bina’, the song features lovely visuals of the two stars romancing in nature.

The song has just been released through Salman Khan’s official YouTube channel. The description on the YouTube video reads, “Amidst the lockdown blues comes a fresh romantic track of the season in the form of, Tere Bina. Listen to my new romantic track, featuring Jacqueline Fernandez.”

Ajay Bhatia has composed the song with lyrics by Shabbir Ahmed and vocals by Salman. ‘Loveyatri’ fame Abhiraj Minawala has been credited as Salman’s associate director on the music video.

Salman and Jacqueline have previously acted together in ‘Kick’ and ‘Race 3’. It is also reported that the two will be back together in ‘Kick 2’.

KGF 2 scheduled for release in October; 25 more days of shoot!

‘KGF: Chapter 2’ is one of the most awaited films in Indian cinema this year. The makers have almost 90% of shoot. Only 25 days of shoot still remain in which they will be filming two major action sequences. As announced earlier, the film is on track for release on October 23.

Starring Rocking Star Yash in the lead, ‘KGF 2’ is one film that is highly anticipated by film lovers across the country. Prashanth Neel, who wrote and directed the first part, is helming the sequel as well. The first part that got released in multiple languages had emerged as a nationwide sensation in 2018. It is the highest grossing Kannada film till date.

Coming to the second part, the makers have got Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt to play the main villain, Adheera. Veteran actress Ranveena Tandon will be seen essaying the Indian Prime Minister’s role. The character is said to be inspired from late Indira Gandhi. Srinidhi Shetty, Anant Nag, Rao Ramesh, Achyuth Kumar, Vasishta N Simha and Malavika Avinash are also part of the film’s supporting cast.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and uncertainty regarding when things will get back back to normalcy, entertainment industry worldwide is in a severe spot of bother. As theatres remain in most parts, several big films are opting for direct OTT (over-the-top) release. In Bollywood, highly anticipated films like ‘Gulabo Sitabo’, ‘Gunjan Saxena’, ‘Laxxmi Bomb’ and ‘Shakuntala Devi’ have been confirmed for direct OTT release.

Likewise in the South, several filmmakers are now contemplating about direct release on streaming platforms. As per latest reports, Keerthy Suresh’s ‘Penguin’ will start streaming on Amazon Prime from June. The film is written and directed by debutant Eshvar Karthic. It is produced by Karthik Subbaraj’s Stone Bench Films.

‘Penguin’ will be have Keerthy playing a pregnant woman’s role. This will be her first solo-lead film to be released after winning the National Award for Best Actress last year. The ‘Mahanati’ star also a handful of promising projects like ‘Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham’, ‘Miss India’, ‘Annatthe’, ‘Good luck Sakhi’, and ‘Range De’ coming up.

Recently on Allu Arjun’s birthday, it was announced that he would be teaming up with director Sukumar for a mass entertainer titled ‘Pushpa’. The film’s first look poster that had Allu Arjun in a rugged, local look had grabbed attention. It is said that the film revolves around the smuggling of red sanders in the Tamil Nadu-Andhra Pradesh border. Though the makers are yet to announce the cast, it is widely reported that Vijay Sethupathi will be playing the villain role. Unconfirmed reports suggest that the film has Allu Arjun playing a lorry driver and Vijay Sethupathi as a forest officer.

Shoot was supposed to kick-start this month but due to the lockdown, the makers had to stall their plans. They are currently working on the pre-production. Interestingly, the team is planning to film a high voltage action sequence right after shoot begins. National award winner Peter Hein will be choreographing this 6-minute chase scene which alone will cost up to Rs 6 crores. The two leads, Allu Arjun and Vijay Sethupathi are expected to feature in this segment.

‘Pushpa’ has Rashmika Mandanna as the heroine. Prakash Raj, Jagapati Babu, Harish Uthaman, Vennela Kishore, Anasuya Bharadwaj, Anish Kuruvilla and many others are part of the supporting cast. Devi Sri Prasad is composing the music and Polish cameraman Miroslaw Kuba Brozek handles the camera. The movie will be releasing in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada.

Recently, actress Trisha had hinted about working on a project with director Gautham Menon. There were many speculations in social medias regarding the project and as it turns out, it is a lockdown short film that has Trisha reprising her character Jessie from the superhit film ‘Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa’ (VTV) The short film has been titled as ‘Karthik Dial Seytha Yenn’ and its teaser got released online last day.

‘VTV’ released in 2010 had Trisha and Simbu in the lead roles. The film was a big success and it is widely regarded as one of the best Tamil romantic films of all time. Director Gautham Menon has often spoken about making a sequel to the film and this shortfilm seems like a teaser of what is to come.

‘Karthik Dial Seytha Yenn’ is expected to be online very soon. The teaser features Jessie speaking over phone to Karthik and motivating him about his filmmaking career. Trisha’s mother Uma Krishnan shot the video.

Mohanlal will be seen in a stylish new look in the film. A new location still was shared last day through the film’s official social media handle. He is seen sporting a slat and pepper hairstyle with a closely cropped beard. Details regarding the character he is playing in the film are not get known. Trisha is supposedly playing his wife’s role and Durga Krishna will be seen as her younger sister.

Last year on Prithviraj’s birthday, it was announced that the star would be teaming up with veteran director Shaji Kailas for a film titled ‘Kaduva’. It is touted to be a high voltage mass entertainer set in the 90s and the first look poster also hinted the same. Latest rumours suggest that Suresh Gopi will be appearing in an extended cameo role in the film. Though the makers are yet to confirm this, it will be huge if it materializes.

It is worth a mention that Shaji Kalias had previously tried to bring together Prithviraj and Suresh Gopi for a legal thriller. AK Sajan was supposed to script the film. However, the project was dropped at the initial stages itself. Prithviraj and Suresh Gopi’s only outing together was in ‘Nadiya Kollappetta Rathri’ though they both did not get to share screen space in it.

‘Kaduva’ is produced by Prithviraj Productions along with Magic Frames. It is scripted by Jinu Abraham, who has earlier penned films like ‘Masters’ and ‘London Bridge’ and also directed ‘Adam Joan’. On the technical front, the makers have signed ace cinematographer Ravi K Chandran, art director Mohandas and editor Shameer Muhammed. The film also marks the entry of popular South Indian composer S Thaman to Malayalam film industry.
