Colleagues from Malayalam film industry wish Manikandan Achari a happy married life!

Malayalam film actor Manikandan R Achari got married in a temple in Thrippunithura on Sunday. Anjali, a native of Maradu in Kochi, is the bride. Due to the Covid-19 outbreak, the wedding was a very private affair with only very few family members attending the ceremony. The wedding was conducted following all the lockdown protocols.

Several colleagues from Malayalam film industry have wished Manikandan through his social media handle. Stars like Nivin Pauly, Kunchacko Boban, Tovino Thomas, Aju Varghese, Sunny Wayne, Hareesh Kanaran and many others have wished him a very happy married life. Fans and well wishers have also joined in wishing the actor. Manikandan had recently won hearts by donating a hefty sum saved for his wedding to the Kerala Chief Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund.

Manikandan made his acting debut in 2016 with the Rajeev Ravi directorial ‘Kammattipaadam’. His performance as a local thug Balan was widely appreciated and it won him the prestigious Kerala State Film Award for Best Character Actor. Later, he did notable roles in films like ‘Varnyathil Aashanka’, ‘Eeda’ and ‘Carbon’. Last year, he made his debut in Tamil cinema last year with the Rajinikanth starrer ‘Petta’. He will be next seen in a major role in the multi-starrer ‘Thuramukham’.

Telugu film industry members have been very generous with their contributions for Covid-19 relief related activities. Vijay Deverakonda is the latest to do this bit to help those in need. The ‘Arjun Reddy’ star has donated a sum of Rs 1.30 crores. Through his Deverakonda Foundation, they are trying to help more people. The schemes have been divided as immediate requirements and future requirements. Sharing the news, Vijay Deverakonda has written,

Varun Dhawan to star in Hindi remake of Vijay’s Theri?

Bollywood medias are reporting that Varun Dhawan will be starring in the official remake of blockbuster Tamil film ‘Theri’. The original film written and directed by Atlee had superstar Vijay playing the role of a police officer. Hitting screens in 2016, the film emerged as a huge commercial success. Varun Dhawan, who has been going through a lean patch of late, recently got to watch ‘Theri’ and impressed by it. The star has decided to remake the film in Hindi with some changes to make it suitable to the native audience.

Recently, Varun and director Atlee were seen exchanging messages in Twitter, which lead to speculations that the two are set to work together. There were also reports about Varun also starring Atlee’s film with Shah Rukh Khan, but it has been dismissed as baseless rumours. It is not yet known who will be directing the Hindi version of ‘Theri’.

An official word is expected to be out after the ongoing Corona crisis gets over.

Suriya in trouble after Ponmagal Vandhal gets a direct OTT release!

Earlier in the day, we had reported that Jyothika starrer ‘Ponmagal Vanthal’ is gearing up to be the first mainstream Tamil film to be released directly in OTT platforms. Suriya’s 2D Entertainment is producing the film. Amazon Prime has reportedly acquired the streaming rights for Rs 9 crores and the film is set premiere from the first week of May.

However, the decision to have a direct OTT release has not gone well with the theatre owners in Tamil Nadu. The General Secretary of the Tamil Nadu Theatre and Multiplex Owners Association, R Panneer Selvam, has announced that their association has decided to not release any film involving actor Suriya or his home production banner 2D Entertainment hereafter.

kollywood medias report that the theatre owners association in Tamil Nadu are planning to go ahead with an unofficial ban of films that Suriya is associated with. In that case, the release of the his much awaited film ‘Soorarai Pottru’ might all get into trouble.

Director Mysskin and Vishal had a fallout recently during the making of ‘Thupparivalan 2’. It was followed by some ugly exchange of words between the two which triggered quite a stir in Kollywood. Mysskin has now opted out of the project and Vishal himself is directing the remaining portions. After their spat, Mysskin is now planning to team up with actor Simbu for a new film.

KE Gnanavel Raja of Studio Green is most likely to produce it. Simbu had earlier signed a project with Studio Gree, which was the Tamil remake of superhit Kannada film ‘Mufti’. Simbu and Gautham Karthik were supposed to reprise the lead roles played by Shiva Rajkumar and Sriimurali in the original. Though the film’s shoot went on for few days, it had to be shelved after a point due to Simbu’s unavailability. Latest we hear is that the project has been dropped and Simbu’s dates will be used for Mysskin’s film.

Despite their talent, Simbu and Mysskin are two of the most controversial figures in Kollywood. It will be interesting to see how they both work together. Official announcement regarding their new film is expected to be made soon after the Corona crisis is over.

Prithviraj along with a 57-member crew of ‘Aadujeevitham’ had been in Jordan for over a month. The crew hot stranded there after authorities announced lockdown there to the prevent the spread of Corona virus. The team had to stop shooting halfway and stay indoors in the property in which they have been staying in Wadi Rum. Since all flight operations to India remain cancelled, there is still uncertainty regarding when the crew members can return back.

Due to the spread of Corona virus, film industries across the world have been severely hit. Several leading production houses in Hollywood are trying to get their films to release in OTT platforms. In Tamil film industry, Jyothika starrer ‘Ponmagal Vanthal’ is most likely to be the first mainstream film to be released directly in OTT platforms.

The film was originally scheduled for release in May during the summer holidays but due to the lockdown, the makers are trying to get a direct OTT release. If reports are to be believed, the film is set to premiere in Amazon Prime from the first week of May. It. It is said that the film’s streaming rights have been acquired for Rs 9 crores. An official confirmation is awaited in this regard.

‘Ponmagal Vandhal’ is directed by debutant JJ Fredrick. The film has Jyothika playing the role of an advocate. Veteran actors K Bhagyaraj, Parthiepan, Pandiarajan, Thyagarajan and Prathap Pothen are playing important supporting roles in the film. It has cinematography done by Ramji and music composed by Govind Vasantha.

Actor Suriya’s own production house 2D Entertainment is producing ‘Ponmagal Vanthal’.

The director replied that his best is yet to come and that would be his next film.

As reported by us earlier, Aashiq Abu is next teaming up with Soubin Shahir for a fantasy film. Unni R was initially supposed to script the film but now Muhsin Parari is penning the screenplay. Apparently, it is a fascinating story of a ‘gandharvan’ who lands in Earth. Soubin will be essaying the gandharvan’s role in the film. Girish Gangadharan will be cranking the camera and Rima Kallingal will be producing it. We hear that film has been titled as ‘Devanganangal Kayyozhinja Tharakam’ but the makers are yet to officially announce it.
