While fans have been requesting for the trailer, the makers have decided to release the trailer only after the film’s final release date is confirmed.

67th National Film Awards announcement to be delayed!

The 67th National Film Awards was supposed to be announced officially in May. However, due to the spread of Corona pandemic, it has been postponed indefinitely. Generally, a jury of eminent filmmakers and film personalities is brought together to evaluate the films that are sent for submission. As per reports in National medias, the jury members for this year have not yet been formed. The process of bringing together a jury panel from across the country was supposed to start much earlier but due to the Corona virus scare, it had to be be put on hold.

Every year, the National film awards are announced on May 3. It was in 2012 that May 3 was announced as the designated date for holding the awards distribution ceremony every year, commemorating the day India’s first full-length feature film, Dadasaheb Phalke’s ‘Raja Harishchandra’, was released way back in 1913. Last year, the awards was delayed owing to the general elections. The winners were announced in August while the ceremony took place in December.

This year, it remains to be seen what decision is taken regarding a selection process and the ceremony as the whole country is working towards stopping the spread of Corona virus.

Varane Avashymund trolls: Tamil actor Prasanna comes out in support of Dulquer Salmaan

Last day, a section of Tamil Twitter users came out hard against the recently released Malayalam film ‘Varane Avashyamund’ accusing that the makers have portrayed LTTE chief Velupillai Prabhakaran in poor light. Many even called for boycotting the film and Dulquer’s other upcoming projects as well.

It all started after the accusers got offended by a scene in which Suresh Gopi’s character calls his pet dog by the name Prabhakara. The enraged Tamilains allege that it was a deliberate attempt to take a dig at Velupillai Prabhakaran. The trolls got so severe that Dulquer Salmaan and the film’s director Anoop Sathyan had to come out with detailed statements clarifying that they had no such intentions to hurt anyone.

According to them, the scene in question was placed as fun reference to an older Malayalam film ‘Pattana Pravesham’, which was directed by Anoop’s father Sathyan Anthikad. The expression ‘Prabhakara’ is also a very commonly used meme in Kerala. Tamil film actor Prasanna was one of the very few to come out in support of Dulquer and team ‘Varane Avashymund’. He even apologized for the misunderstanding and all the unwarranted abuse.

Here’s a series of tweets between Dulquer and Prasanna.

Prasanna:
As a Tamil who’s seen Malayalam movies I quiet understand the context, I sincerely apologize dear @dulQuer for the misunderstanding and all the unwarranted abuse. I see the name is used just like the line “ormayundo ee mukham” by Sureshgopi sir.

Dulquer:
Thank you so much brother ! So kind of you to write in support. Lots of love to you ??

Prasanna:

Dulquer:

Dulquer Salmaan apologizes after Tamil Twitterati hurl abuses over a scene in Varane Avashymund

Dulquer Salmaan’s hit film ‘Varane Avashymund’ got released on Netlfix last week and has largely been getting positive response. However, to the surprise of many, a section of Tamil Twitter users have called for boycotting the film and Dulquer’s upcoming projects as well. Apparently, they got offended by a scene in which Suresh Gopi’s character calls his dog by the name Prabhakara. The enraged Tamilains accuse that it was a deliberate attempt to take a dig at late LTTE Chief Velupillai Prabhakaran.

However, the makers of ‘Varane Avashymund’ have clarified that they had no such intentions to hurt anyone. In fact, it was placed as a reference to an older Malayalam film ‘Pattana Pravesham’ and the expression ‘Prabhakara’ is also a very commonly used meme in Kerala. Even before the makers could come out with any sort of clarification, numerous trolls and abuses were hurled at them. Although it was not their intention to hurt anyone’s sentiments, Dulquer, who is also the film’s producer, tendered an apology on the crew’s behalf. But Dulquer also added that it was unacceptable to drag his father’s name and abuse him. His Facebook post reads,

A lot of people have brought to my notice that the Prabhakaran joke in Varane Avashyamund is insulting to the Tamizh people. It was not intentional. The joke is a reference to an older Malayalam film Pattana Pravesham and is a common Meme in Kerala. It is a common name in Kerala as well so it wasn’t directed at any person living or dead as our disclaimer mentions in the beginning of the film. Most people reacting are doing so without watching the film and are trying to spread hate. Hating on me and my director Anoop we can accept. Kindly keep it to us and not our fathers or senior actors from the film. I apologise to all of the good and kind tamizh people who felt offended. I have never intended to offend anyone through my films or my words. It’s genuinely a misunderstanding.

P.S. Some of you are being extremely abusive ,threatening, deliberately hurtful and insulting family along with us. I wish that weren’t so.
