Nivin Pauly to sport two different looks in Padavettu; 75% shoot completed

‘Padavettu’ is Nivin Pauly’s upcoming film that is directed by debutant Liju Krishna. Actor Sunny Wayne is maiden his feature film production debut with this film. ‘Aruvi’ fame Aditi Balan plays the female lead and Manju Warrrier is also there in an important role. Though it has been sometime since shoot commenced, nothing much regarding the genre or storyline are known yet.

All the makers have revealed is that Nivin Pauly will be playing a very challenging character for which he will be appearing in two different looks. The actor had piled put on extra weight for the first schedule of shoot. A location still was also recently released in which he looked oversized. In the next leg of shoot, which will begin soon after the Corona crisis is over, Nivin will be sporting a lean look. He has already shed around 8-10 kilos and he is expected to be back in shape once shoot resumes.

Bollywood actor to play the villain in Babu Antony’s Powerstar!

Two years after the announcement, director Omar Lulu is trying to get ‘Powerstar’ on floors. Babu Antony will be playing the lead role in the film which is scripted by Dennis Joseph. As per the director, it will be a full-on mass entertainer unlike his previous works, which were all youthful fun entertainers.

‘Powerstar’ is expected to be a proper mass film with loads of action in it. Omar recently posted a few clips of Babu Antony’s fight scenes in his social media handle and seeked suggestions from his followers. During the interaction, he revealed that a Bollywood actor will be playing the villain role but refused to divulge the name. Moreover, there will be no heroine in the film.

Scenarist Dennis Joseph is well known for penning blockbuster mass entertainers like ‘Rajavinte Makan’, ‘New Delhi’, ‘Kottayam Kunjachan’ etc. He is making a comeback to films after a long gap, so expectations are certain to be on the higher side. Babu Antony has also not played the lead role in a mass-action flick for long. So stakes are indeed high on ‘Powerstar’.

April 29 was a terrible day for the world of cinema as Irrfan Khan, one of the finest actors of our times, passed away. The actor had been battling cancer for the past two years and he breathed last day at a private hospital in Mumbai. Film personalities, politicians, sports persons and fans from across the country paid their tributes to the much-revered actor.

Malayalam star Fahadh Faasil shared a touching note in which he said he owes his acting career to Irrfan Khan. Fahadh has written about how he discovered Irrfan, the actor during his student days at America. ‘Yuh Hoya Toh Kya Hota’ directed by Naseeruddin Shah was the first time Fahadh noticed Irrfan and according to him, it was the first time he saw an actor who was ‘original’ on screen.

Though Fahadh has never seen or met Irrfan Khan, he considers him to be fortunate enough to have collaborated with actors and filmmakers who had worked with him. The ‘Amen’ actor regrets not being able to meet the man who changed his life forever. It was while discovering Irrfan that Fahadh decided to drop out of engineering and act in films.

Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor passes away!

While Indian cinema fans are yet to come to terms with the sudden demise of actor Irrfan Khan, another terrible news has just come. Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor has passed away after batting with cancer for over a year. The 67-year-old breathed his last at the HN Reliance Foundation Hospital in Mumbai.

Rishi Kapoor was first diagnosed with cancer in 2018. He underwent a year-long treatment in New York and returned to Mumbai last September. He is survived by his wife Neetu Singh and two children, actor Ranbir Kapoor and designer Riddhima Kapoor Sahani.

A veteran of over 100 films, Rishi Kapoor has won numerous awards including a National award for his performance as a child artist in his father Raj Kapoor’s film ‘Mera Naam Joker’. His last released film was the Jeethu Joseph directorial ‘The Body’. The actor had recently announced his next project, a remake of Hollywood film ‘The Intern’ with Deepika Padukone. He was supposed to play the role essayed by the legendary Robert De Niro in the original.

Dennis Joseph to script Babu Antony starrer Powerstar

Two years back, director Omar Lulu had announced a project titled ‘Powerstar’ with Babu Antony. The announcement got great reception from Malayali film lovers. But since there were no further updates, it was widely believed that the project had been dropped. However, it has now been learnt that the makers are trying to kick-start works soon after the Covid-19 crisis gets over.

Veteran scenarist Dennis Josepsh is scripting the film, which will be a complete mass entertainer. Dennis Joseph is one of the most celebrated Malayali script writers of the 80s and 90s. He is well known for penning several blockbuster films like ‘No.20 Madras Mail’, ‘Rajavinte Makan’, ‘Nirakoottu’ ‘New Delhi’, ‘Kottayam Kunjachan’ ‘Bhoomiyile Rajakkanmar’ etc. He has been been away from films for the last few years. When he makes a comeback with his favorite genre, expectations are certain to be high.

Omar Lulu has assured that ‘Power Star’ will be totally different from his earlier works, which were all youthful fun entertainers. It will be really interesting to see how the director helms a full fledged mass flick.

Actor Irrfan Khan, who worked majorly in Bollywood, passed away today after battling cancer for over two years. The 53-year-old breathed his last at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani hospital in Mumbai where he was admitted due to colon infection. Condolences are pouring in from fans and colleagues worldwide.

Dulquer Salmaan is one of the very few from Malayalam industry who was lucky enough to share screen space with Irrfan Khan. Dulquer made his Hindi debut with ‘Karwaan’, in which Irrfan Khan and Mithila Palkar played the other major roles. Following Irrfan’s unfortunate demise, Dulquer took to his social media handle to share Irrfan’s photo and pen down a heartfelt note sharing his experience working with him.

Dulquer has written about how Irrfan made him comfortable and treated everyone on set equally. He has also added about how he used to observe the veteran all through the film’s shoot like a student and a fan. The post reads,

You were this humongous talent, a living legend, an international movie star. And yet, you treat all of us on Karwaan and everyone you met, as equals. By some ease of your nature, you made us all feel like family. You were kind, witty, charming, curious, inspired, compassionate and always fun. I observed you the entire time like a student and a fan. Thanks to you, all through shoot I had a constant smile plastered on my face. I laughed endlessly, struggled to keep a face, and so often stared at you in absolute awe.
In return you always had that grin. That amused grin at the world. Almost like it surprised you at all times. It’s how I’ll always remember you.

Irrfan Khan was diagnosed with neuroendocrine tumour in 2018 and sought treatment in the UK for a year. He is survived by his wife Sutapa Sikder and two sons, Ayan and Babil.

The 53-year-old breathed his last at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani hospital in Mumbai where he was admitted due to colon infection. Condolences are pouring in from politicians, sportspeople, film personalities and fans worldwide.

Malayalam superstars Mohanlal and Mammootty took to their respective social media handles to pay tributes to the legendary actor.

Mammootty wrote,

A sad and huge loss to our film fraternity. A great and natural actor who was loved by audiences across the world. I had the pleasure of sharing a stage with him for an event and I remember the conversations and warmth we shared.

Actor Irrfan Khan passes away at 53!

One of Indian cinema’s finest actors, Irrfan Khan has passed away. He has been battling cancer for the last two years. The 53-year-old breathed his last at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani hospital in Mumbai where was admitted on Tuesday due to colon infection.

Irrfan is survived by his wife Sutapa Sikder and two sons, Ayan and Babil. Tragedy has struck the family twice as Irrfan’s mother Saeeda Begum passed away just last Saturday in Jaipur. It is reported that he could not attend his mom’s funeral due to his illness and the nationwide lockdown.

Irrfan Khan was diagnosed with neuroendocrine tumour in 2018 and sought treatment in the UK for a year. He returned back to India in February 2019 and shortly resumed shooting for his film, ‘Angrezi Medium’. The film hit screens on March 13 but its theatrical run was cut short due to the Covid-19 outbreak.

Irrfan Khan is one of the very few actors from Indian cinema to have made a mark in Hollywood. In 2011, he won his first National Film Award for his performance in ‘Paan Singh Tomar’. The same year, he was awarded the Padma Shri, India’s fourth highest civilian honour for his contribution to the field of arts.
