Here’s the first look of Vijay Sethupathi starrer Sanga Thamizhan

As informed earlier, the first look poster of Vijay Sethupathi’s new film ‘Sanga Tamizhan’ was shared online last day. The poster features an intense looking Sethupathi sporting a twirled moustache. The movie is directed by Vijay Chander of ‘Sketch’ and ‘Vaalu’ fame. Vijaya Productions is producing the movie, which is touted to be a complete commercial mass entertainer just like the director’s earlier two films.

‘Sanga Tamizhan has two female leads in Raashi Khanna and Nivetha Pethuraj. Others in the cast include Soori, Nasser, John Vijay Asutosh Rana and Ravi Kishan. Vivek – Mervin duo is composing the music and cinematography is by R Velraj. Praveen KL is handling the edits.

Director Vijay Chander’s first two films – ‘Vaalu’ and ‘Sketch’ failed to impress the critics and had a lukewarm run at the box office. So the director will be trying to rectify his mistakes and a deliver a hit this time around.

Beemapalli Song: Check out the first single from Pathinettam Padi

Actor-writer Shanker Ramakrishnan’s directorial debut ‘Pathinettam Padi’ is gearing up for release. As informed earlier, the first single from the movie has been released online. Mammootty shared the song through his official social media handle. The track is rendered by Shahabaz Aman and lyrics is penned by Vinayak Sasikumar. Talented young composer AH Kaashif, who is the nephew of maestro AR Rahman, is making his Malayalam debut with this film.

AH Kaashif has worked with his uncle Rahman as a music producer and has also contributed to the background score and songs in films like ‘Mersal’, ‘Beyond the Clouds’ and ‘Sarkar’. Kaashif turned an independent composer earlier this year with the Jyothika starrer ‘Kaatrin Mozhi’.

‘Pathinettam Padi’ is expected to release next month. Its lead cast comprises of teenage actors from all fourteen districts of the state. Besides that, it has some big star presence in Mammootty, Prithviraj Sukumaran and Unni Mukundan, who are all playing cameo roles.

Anu Emmanuel and Aishwarya Rajesh in Sivakarthikeyan’s next

As reported by us recently, Sivakarthikeyan is teaming up with director Pandiraj for a new film to be produced by Sun Pictures. Anu Emmanuel has been signed as the female lead. Aishwarya Rajesh, who has worked with Sivakarthikeyan previously in ‘Kanaa’, is reportedly playing his sister in this upcoming movie. Soori, Yogi Babu, Natarajan aka Natty and RK Suresh are also part of the supporting cast.

It must be remembered that director Pandiraj was the one who introduced Sivakarthikeyan in cinema with his 2012 film ‘Marina’. Later, they also worked together in ‘Kedi Billa Killadi Ranga’. Pandiraj is well known for his films like ‘Pasanga’, ‘Kathakali’ and ‘Kadaikutty Singam’. ‘Pasanga’, which was his debut film, had won him a couple of National awards.

Expectations will be high when he reunites with Sivakarthikeyan, who is a much bigger star now. The movie will have music by D Imman and cinematography by Nirav Shah. It is expected to go on floors shortly after Sivakarthikeyan finishes his ongoing commitments. He is currently shooting for ‘Hero’, directed by PS Mithran. Another film with Vignesh Shivn is also in the pipeline.

Chemban Vinod Jose and Nimisha Sajayan are all set to team up for a new film titled ‘Bahar’. PT Kunju Muhammed is directing the film, which is based on real life events. It is the story about how Gulf aspirants were illegally transported through the sea route. Chemban Vinod plays a character named ‘lanchi’ Ramakrishnan in the movie.

PT Kunju Muhammed has earlier directed critically acclaimed films like ‘Magrib’, ‘Garshim’ and ‘Paradesi’. His last release was ‘Viswasapoorvam Mansoor’. The upcoming film ‘Bahar’ (which means sea) is expected to be another quality work from the director. The movie will discuss about caste and religion politics that existed in Kerala during those days.

PT Kunju Muhammed has scripted the movie based on several real life people and their experiences. The makers have planned to start shooting from June in Kozhikode. Official announcement with details regarding the entire cast and crew will be made shortly.

Director Shanker Ramakrishnan has written a note in his Facebook handle, which reads,

Tovino starrer Theevandi gets a Telugu version

Tovino Thomas’ ‘Theevandi’ is all set to get remade in Telugu. Last day, the news was officially announced through August Cinema’s social media handle. The remake version is titled as ‘Pogabandi’. It is said that Surya Tej will be reprising Tovino’s role. Kailas Menon, who composed the superhit songs in ‘Theevandi’, has been retained in the Telugu version as well. Details about the director and other cast and crew members have not yet been revealed.

‘Theevandi’ was directed by Fellini TP and scripted by Vini Viswa Lal. The movie is centred around a lazy unemployed youngster named Bineesh, who is a chain smoker. Bineesh’s love life and social life gets affected due to his smoking habit. The movie explores how he manages to comes out of it in a satirical tone with local politics also as part of the narrative.

Samyuktha Menon was paired with Tovino in the movie. Suraj Venjaramoodu, Saiju Kurup, Shammi Thilakan, Surabhi Lakshmi and Sudheesh were also part of the cast. Upon its release last September, the movie took everyone by surprise and emerged as a big hit at the box office. Let’s see if the Telugu version can also repeat the success.

Dulquer Salmaan’s charming perfomance is one of the major highlights of the film. Superstar Rajinikanth’s is currently in Mumbai shooting for his new film ‘Darbar’. The film which is touted to be an action-packed mass entertainer is directed by AR Murugadoss. Nayanathara plays the female lead and Nivetha Thomas is also there in a prominent role. The latest we hear is that Malayali actor Chemban Vinod Jose is also part of the movie. Though details about his character has not yet been released, it is said to be a very important role.

‘Darbar’ is Chemban Vinod’s second film in Tamil. He made his debut last year with the Vijay Milton directorial ‘Goli Soda 2’, in which he played the villain. It will be interesting to see what role he is essaying in ‘Darbar’. The movie has Rajinikanth in role of a Mumbai based police officer. It has been decades since the star last played a cop, so fans are highly excited about it.

‘Darbar’ also has a solid technical crew headlined by ace cinematographer Santosh Sivan, composer Anirudh Ravichander and veteran editor Sreekar Prasad. Ram-Laxman duo is choreographing the stunts. Lyca Productions, who last collaborated with Rajinikanth in ‘2.0’, is producing this movie as well. The makers have already announced that the movie will be hitting screens in January.

As we already know, Mohanlal and veteran director Siddique are teaming up for a new movie titled ‘Big Brother’. The makers have planned to start shooting from next month. Sidhique and Mohanlal have previously worked together in ‘Vietnam Colony’ and ‘Ladies and Gentleman’. Naturally, expectations are high this time around.

According to Siddique, ‘Big Brother’, is a family entertainer with action, humour and sentiments. Mohanlal and Anoop Menon play siblings in the movie. Mohanlal’s character is named as Sachidanandan and he is like a brother to pretty much all other characters. Vishnu Unnikrishnan, ‘June’ fame Sarjano Khalid, Tini Tom and veteran Siddique are playing prominent roles. South Indian actress Regina Cassandra is in talks to play the female lead. Bollywood actor-director Arbaaz Khan has been cast in the role of an IPS officer.

‘Big Brother’ is being produced jointly by director Siddique’s own banner S Talkies and Vaishaka Cinema. Deepak Dev has been signed as the composer. The movie is scheduled to start rolling on June 25. Ernakulam and Bangalore have been finalized as the major locations.

Akshay Kumar’s new cop flick ‘Sooryavanshi’ directed by Rohit Shetty has started rolling today. Katrina Kaif plays the female lead in the movie and ‘Badhaai Ho’ fame Neen Gupta will be seen as Akshay’s mother. It is also reported that the movie will also have cameo appearances by Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh.

Director Rohit Shetty has created a police cinematic universe of his own with films like ‘Singham’, ‘Singham Returns’ and ‘Simmba’. While Ajay Devgn stars in the ‘Singham’ series, ‘Simmba’ had Ranveer Singh in the lead. Like how Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn made guest appearances as police officers in ‘Simmba’, ‘Sooryavanshi’ is also expected to have the coming together of three.

In ‘Sooryavanshi’, Akshay Kumar play anti-terrorist squad officer Sooryavanshi. Katrina Kaif is playing his love interest. The team is starting shooting today in Mumbai. After the Mumbai schedule, they be will fly to Bangkok to shoot Akshay’s introduction scene. Hyderabad and Goa are the other major locations. The film is slated to release for Eid next year.
