Biju Menon and Manju Warrier to star in Madhu Warrier’s directorial debut

Actor-producer Madhu Warrier is all set to wear the director’s hat for the first time. His debut film will have his sister Manju Warrier and Biju Menon in the lead roles. Pramod Mohan, who has previously scripted the Biju Menon starrer ‘Orayiram Kinakkal’, is penning this film as well.

As an actor, Madhu Warrier has done notable roles in films like ‘Wanted’, ‘Speed Track’, ‘Hallo’ and ‘Veruthe Oru Bharya’. He has also produced the Dileep starrers ‘Swa Le’ and ‘Mayamohini’. It will be interesting to see what he has to offer as a filmmaker.

Another interesting thing about this film is that it marks Biju Menon and Manju Warrier’s reunion after nearly two decades. They have previously shared screen space in ‘Krishnagudiyil Oru Pranayakalathu’, ‘Kudamattam’, ‘Pranayavarnangal’, and ‘Kannezhuthi Pottum Thottu’.

The makers are planning to start shooting by October. An official announcement with details regarding the entire cast and crew is expected to be made shortly.

Fahadh Faasil is arguably one of the finest actors in the country today and his last few movies are a testament to that. Bollywood filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari, best known for helming the all-time blockbuster ‘Dangal’, had recently heaped praise on Fahadh. After watching some of his films, Tiwari has officially declared himself as a big fan of Fahadh. His tweet reads,

Tiwari’s tweet has become viral triggering speculations about the possibility of Fahadh foraying into Bollywood. It must be remembered that the actor was earlier a couple of projects in Hindi including Bejoy Nambiar’s ‘Wazir’ opposite Amitabh Bachchan, but he turned it down as he was not comfortable doing other language films. Since Fahadh has now started to do Tamil films, his Hindi debut looks inevitable.

Fahadh is currently shooting for ‘Trance’, said to be the biggest film of his career. The movie directed by Anwar Rasheed has been in the making for a nearly two years. It is expected to hit screens sometime by the end of this year. He has also signed for a film with Dileesh Pothan-Syam Pushkaran duo which will be produced by his father Fazil.

Vijay Babu’s Friday Film House introduced a bunch of newcomers to the industry with the Rajisha Vijayan starrer ‘June’. Apart from the lead character, almost all the other prominent roles were played by debutants. One of the most impressive among them was Sarjano Khalid, who played the role of Noel. His performance as the male lead in the movie got noticed and is now bagging new projects with leading filmmakers. He has reportedly been signed for Mohanlal starreer ‘Big Brother’ and Biju Menon’s ‘Adhya Raathri’.

Besides Malayalam, Sarjano has also landed in a huge project, which is being helmed by ace filmmaker Gautham Menon. The director is currently working on web series based on late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa’a life and Sarjano has been roped in to play a small part in it. It is indeed a golden opportunity for the youngster to be part of such a prestigious project so early in his career.

Gautham Menon’s biopic on Jayalalithaa has Ramya Krishnan is in the lead role while Malayali actor Indrajith Sukumaran essays MGR’s part. The series reportedly has about 20 episodes. A leading production house is behind the project and it will be officially announced shortly with a teaser release.

After taking a break from ‘Aadujeevitham’ shooting, Prithviraj is currently working on ‘Brother’s Day’. The movie marks the directorial debut of actor Kalabhavan Shajohn. It is shaping up as full-on commercial mass entertainer, that’s quite unlike the experimental films that Prithviraj has been doing a lot of late. He was recently spotted shooting with a bearded look for the movie.

‘Brother’s Day’ reportedly has Aishwarya Lekshmi, Prayaga Rose Martin, Aima Rose Sebastian, Madonna Sebastian and Miya George as the female leads. Among them, only Miya has acted with Prithviraj previously. They have earlier shared screen space in ‘Memories’, ‘Anarkali’ and ‘Pavada’. Kottayam Nazeer, Dharmajan Bolgatty and several other actors are part of the cast.

The movie has cinematography by Jithu Damodar, songs composed by the multi-talented Nadirshah and background score done by 4 Musics of ‘Oppam’ fame. Listin Stephen is producing the movie under the banner of Magic Frames. Ernakulam and Pollachi are the major locations.

Uyare to be screened at International Children’s Film Festival of Kerala

Parvathy starrer ‘Uyare’ continues to make all the right noises. The movie is garnering unanimously positive response from all corners. Directed by Manu Ashokan and scripted by Bobby-Sanjay, ‘Uyare’ tells the inspiring story of an acid attack survivor. Ever since its release on April 26, the movie has been getting words of appreciation from critics and commoners alike.

‘Uyare’ has now been selected for screening at the International Children’s Film Festival of Kerala, which is scheduled to be held from May 10 to 16 in Thiruvananthapuram. It has been selected as the inaugural film at the prestigious festival. The screening will be held in Kariali theatre on May 10 at 4.30 PM.

The makers have penned a thanks note to the organizers for selecting ‘Uyare’ to be screened at the festival. The Facebook post reads,

We are extremely delighted to be a part of of the International Children’s Film Festival of Kerala, 2019. Uyare will be screened as the inaugural film at the prestigious festival. Thank you for this honor.

Earlier, the Kerala government had organized a special screening of ‘Uyare’ for children in government homes. Along with the kids, the special show was also attended by Minister KK Shailaja, social justice secretery Biju Prabhakar, actress Parvathy and producers Shenuga, Shegna and Sherga of S Cube Films.

‘Oru Yamandan Premakadha’ is directed by debutant BC Naufal and scripted by Bibin George-Vishnu Unnikrishnan duo. Sivakarthikeyan’s new film starts rolling

Sivakarthikeyan’s new film with director Pandiraj has started rolling today. Sun Pictures is producing the film, which is yet to be titled. Anu Emmanuel has been signed as the female lead. Aishwarya Rajesh, who has worked with Sivakarthikeyan ealrier in ‘Kanaa’, is reportedly playing his sister in this movie. Soori, Yogi Babu, Natarajan aka Natty, RK Suresh, Samuthirakani and Bharathiraja are part of the supporting cast. The movie will have music by D Imman, cinematography by Nirav Shah and editing handled by Antony Ruben.

Pandiraj is a National award winning director well known for helping films like ‘Pasanga’, ‘Kathakali’ and ‘Kadaikutty Singam’. He has previously worked with Sivakarthikeyan in ‘Marina’ and ‘Kedi Billa Killadi Ranga’. Expectations will be high when he reunites with Sivakarthikeyan, who is a much bigger star now.

Biopics continue to be made in Bollywood and the latest to get one is renowned mathematician Shakuntala Devi. Vidya Balan will be starring in the film, which is set to be directed by Anu Menon. Vikram Malhotra is producing the movie under the banner of Abundantia Entertainment. The official announcement was made via social medias today.

Shakuntala Devi was popularly called as the ‘Human Computer’. Her extraordinary skill in solving complex mathematical problems earned her a place in the 1982 edition of The Guinness Book of World Records. She has also written a number of books, including novels as well as texts about mathematics, puzzles, and astrology.

Shakuntala Devi wrote the book ‘The World of Homosexuals’, which is considered the first study of homosexuality in India. She treated homosexuality in an understanding light and is considered a pioneer in the field. It will be interesting to see Vidya Balan, arguably the finest female actor in the country, bring life to such a legendary person.

Mammootty’s new film ‘Unda’ is getting ready for release this Eid. The movie directed by Khalidh Rahman of ‘Anuraga Karikkin Vellam’ fame is touted to be an comedy action thriller. The makers are current releasing the posters of all major characters in the film. The posters featuring Jacob Greogry and Rony David were released in the last couple of days. While the former’s character is named as Varghese Kuruvila, the latter plays a character named Aji Peter.

‘Unda’ has Mammootty playing the role of a police sub inspector. Director Khalidh has penned the story which revolves around a set of events that occur when an group of policemen from Kerala reach the Maosit areas in North India for election duty. Harshad has written the movie’s screenplay.

Soubin-Nimisha starrer Jinn will be a suspense filled family drama

Actor-turned-filmmaker Sidharth Bharathan’s next directorial was announced recently. The film titled as ‘Jinn’ will have last year’s Kerala State award winners Soubin Shahir and Nimisha Sajayan in the lead roles. It is scripted by Rajesh Gopinadhan, who was also the writer of Dulquer Salmaan starrer ‘Kali’.

According to the makers, ‘Jinn’ is an entertainer that has family drama and suspense. It is a racy film centered around the two lead characters played by Soubin Shahir and Nimisha Sajayan. The movie has a very promising technical crew. Girish Gangadharan is the cinematographer and music department will be handled by Prashant Pillai. Bavan Sreekumar is the editor. It is being produced under the banner of D14 Entertainments. Shoot is planned to commence by the end of July.

Meanwhile, Soubin and Nimisha have multiple projects coming up. Soubin is currently in Russia shooting for his new film ‘Android Kunjappan Ver 5.25’, directed by debutant Ratheesh Balakrishnan. He is also playing the lead role in Bhadran’s ‘Joothan’ and John Paul George’s ‘Ambili’.

Likewise, Nimisha has her kitty full with several interesting projects lined up like Rajeev Ravi’s ‘Thuramukham’, Vidhu Vincent’s ‘Stand Up’, PT Kunju Muhammed’s ‘Bahar’ and Lal Jose’s ‘Nalpathiyonnu’.
