Mohanlal’s Big Brother to be made on a budget of Rs 25 crores!

As reported by us earlier, Mohanlal and veteran director Siddique are teaming up for a new movie titled ‘Big Brother’. According to the makers, the movie is a family entertainer with good dose of action, humour and sentiments. It will be made on a budget of Rs 25 crores with a big star cast. Director Siddique is producing the movie with his friends Shaji and Manu under the banner of S Talkies.

Big Brother’s story is set in Banglore and it has Mohanlal, Anoop Menon and ‘June’ fame Sarjano Khalid as siblings. The movie also has three female leads. Popular South Indian actress Regina Cassandra has been signed as the main heroine. She is reportedly paired with Mohanlal in the movie. ‘Pichaikkaran’ fame Satna Titus and a newcomer will be seen as the other two female leads.

Bollywood actor Arbaaz Khan, Vishnu Unnikrishnan, Tini Tom, Siddique, Janardhanan, Chemban Vinod Jose are part of the supporting cast. The movie will have cinematography handled by Jithu Damodar and music by Deepak Dev. Shoot will be commencing by the last week of June and Mohanlal will be joining the team in July.

The makers have planned to wrap up the entire shoot in a single schedule and release it in October.

Manju Warrier and Biju Menon to team up after 20 years!

Biju Menon and Manju Warrier are coming together after two long decades with Madhu Wariar’s directorial debut. The movie was official announced last day through social medias. Pramod Mohan, who has previously scripted and directed the Biju Menon starrer ‘Orayiram Kinakkal’, is penning this film as well. Mohandas Damodaran is producing this yet-to-be titled film.

Biju Menon and Manju Warrier have previously shared screen space in ‘Krishnagudiyil Oru Pranayakalathu’, ‘Kudamattam’, ‘Pranayavarnangal’, and ‘Kannezhuthi Pottum Thottu’. It will be interesting to see their on-screen chemistry after all these years. The makers are planning to start shooting by October.

Meanwhile, both Biju Menon and Manju Warrier have some other interesting films coming up. Biju Menon has Lal Jose’s ‘Nalpathiyonnu’, Prajith’s ‘Sathyam Paranja Vishwasikuvo’ and Jibu Jacob’s ‘Adhyarathri’ in his kitty. He is also part of a couple of multi-starrers. In Rajeev Ravi’s ‘Thuramukham’, he is playing one of the leads alongside Nivin Pauly and Indrajith Sukumaran. Biju Menon is also teaming up with Prithviraj for ‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’, to be directed by Sachi.

Manju Warrier’s debut Tamil film ‘Asuran’ is currently in the final stages of shoot. She is paired with Dhanush in the movie, which is being directed by award winning filmmaker Vetrimaaran. She has also shot for Santosh Sivan’s ‘Jack and Jill’ and Priyadarshan’s epic film ‘Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham’.

Confirmed: Parvathy and Fahadh Faasil in Take Off fame Mahesh Narayanan’s next

Editor-turned-filmmaker Mahesh Narayanan’s directorial debut ‘Take Off’ is widely rated as one of the finest movies made in Malayalam in recent years. It was a real-life inspired film about a group of Malayali nurses held captive in the Tikrit region in Iraq. The movie emerged as a big success and won bagged several awards at the state and national level, including a special jury award for the director at the prestigious International Film Festival of India (IFFI, Goa).

Ever since then, cinephiles have been waiting to hear about Mahesh Narayanan’s next film. He had earlier planned to do a film with Dulquer Salmaan but it seems like the project has been shelved due to the star’s other commitments. In a recent interview, Mahesh revealed that his next directorial will have Fahadh Faasil and Parvathy in the lead roles.

It is worth a mention that both Fahadh Faasil and Parvathy were part of Mahesh’s maiden film ‘Take Off’. Parvathy even won a National award for her performance in the film. It will be interesting to see what genre the director attempts this time. Anto Joseph is producing the film and it is scheduled to go on floors from July. An official announcement is expected to be made shortly.

Mammootty’s cop flick ‘Unda’ is getting ready for release this Eid. The movie directed by Khalidh Rahman of ‘Anuraga Karikkin Vellam’ fame is touted to be an comedy action thriller. For the last few days, the makers have been releasing posters of all major characters in the film. The posters featuring Gokulan and Abhiram were released in the last couple of days. While the former’s character is named as Gokulan Balachandran, the latter plays a character named Unni Krishnan.

‘Unda’ has Mammootty playing the role of a police sub inspector named Mani. Director Khalidh has penned the story which revolves around a set of events that occur when an unit of policemen from Kerala reach the Maosit areas in North India for election duty. Harshad has written the movie’s screenplay.

Asif Ali, Vinay Forrt, Shine Tom Chacko, Kalabhavan Shajohn, Jacob Gregory, Rony David, Arjun Ashokan, Sudhi Koppa, Dileesh Pothan, Lukman, Omkar Das Manikpuri, Bhagwan Tiwari, Chien Ho Liao are part of the movie’s cast. Krishnan Sethukumarr is producing the film under the banner of Movie Mill in association with Gemini Studios.

Tovino Thomas’s new film ‘And The Oscar Goes To’ is getting ready to hit screens next month. The makers have formally announced that the movie will be releasing on June 21, Friday. The movie directed by award winning filmmaker Salim Ahmed has Tovino playing the role of a young passionate filmmaker. It tells the story of a film taking its director to the Oscars.

Tovino Thomas has pinned high hopes on the movie. According to him, it is an international film made in a completely commercial format.
Salim Ahamed scripted the movie after being inspired by the real lives of several filmmakers. The movie has a good set of supporting actors like Siddique, Anu Sithara, Lal, Sreenivasan, Salim Kumar, Zarina Wahab and Appani Sarath.

It has got some big names in the technical side as well like Madhu Ambat, who has cranked the camera and music director Bijibal. Academy award winner Resul Pookutty is working on the sound design and mixing. Allen Media is presenting the movie in association with Canadian Movie Corp.

The actress, who is active in Tamil and Telugu, had recently made her Bollywood debut with the Sonam Kapoor starrer ‘Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga’. ‘Big Brother’ marks her maiden outing in Malayalam. She will reportedly be seen as Mohanlal’s pair in the movie. ‘Pichaikkaran’ fame Satna Titus and a newcomer will be seen as the other two female leads.

According to director Siddique, ‘Big Brother’ is a family entertainer with action, humour and sentiments. Mohanlal, Anoop Menon and ‘June’ fame Sarjano Khalid play siblings in the movie. Massive sets erected for the final schedule of Maamaankam

Mammootty starrer ‘Maamaankam’ is getting ready as a true epic film. For the final schedule of shoot, the makers have erected huge sets in an area sprawling over 18 acres. According to them, it is one of the biggest ever set works in Indian cinema. The team has already shot in various locations across Kannur, Ernakulam, Ottappalam, Vagamon and Athirapally. The final schedule is expected to last for over 40-60 days. Around 2000 junior artists are expected to be part of this final leg of shoot.

Directed by M Padmakumar, this period flick is about ‘Maamaankam’, a medieval fair where brave warriors from various regions would come together to showcase their skills at combat. The movie has superstar Mammootty in the lead role of a fiery ‘Chaaver’ (warrior). It revolves around the life of these warriors who plot to defeat the Zamorin rulers.

Besides Mammootty, the movie also has young star Unni Mukundan in a prominent role as Chandroth Panicker. Kaniha and Anu Sithara play the two female leads. Tarun Raj Arora, Prachi Tehlan, Sudev Nair, Siddique, Abu Salim, Sudheer Sukumaran and many others are part of the supporting cast. Venu Kunnappilly is producing the movie under the banner of Kavya Films.

Vijay Sethupathi to play a dual role for the first time in his career

Vijay Sethupathi is currently shooting for Vijay Chander’s ‘Sanga Tamizhan’. Its first look poster was released just a couple of days back. The poster had a rustic looking Vijay Sethupathi sporting a twirled moustache. It is now learnt that the actor plays a dual role in the movie. This is his first attempt in playing a dual role and it will be interesting to see him bring two different shades.

‘Sanga Tamizhan’ is directed by Vijay Chander of ‘Sketch’ and ‘Vaalu’ fame. Both the films failed to impress the critics and had a lukewarm run at the box office. So the director will be trying to rectify his mistakes and a deliver a hit this time around.

Vijaya Productions is producing ‘Sanga Tamizhan’, which is touted to be a complete commercial mass entertainer just like the director’s earlier two films. The movie has Raashi Khanna and Nivetha Pethuraj as the female leads. Almost 50% of the shoot has been completed and Raashi Khanna has almost finished her part. The second scheduled been planned to be shot in Madurai, and it will be joined by Nivetha Pethuraj, Nasser, Asutosh Rana and Ravi Kishan.

Just like last year, Deverakonda birthday trucks will be distributing ice creams and spreading happiness. Last year, his team had three trucks and delivered over 3000 ice creams in nine different locations over five hours. As promised, this time it is much bigger. While the trucks could only be spotted in Hyderabad last year, this time they will be traveling across Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Warangal, Tirupati, Bengaluru, Chennai and Kochi.

Vijay Deverakonda’s growth to stardom over the last few years has been phenomenal.
