Here’s the trailer of Salman Khan starrer Bharat

The trailer of Salman Khan starrer ‘Bharat’ has just been released online. The movie directed by Ali Abbas Zafar has Salman Khan appearing in multiple looks. The story traverses different timelines starting from 1947 to the current period. Reportedly, ‘Bharat’ is the official adaptation of the 2014 Korean war drama, ‘An Ode To My Father’. The original film depicted modern Korean history from the 1950s to the present day through the life of an ordinary man and all major events that occurred in the country.

Likewise, ‘Bharat’ is the journey of a country and also a person, both of whom go by the same name. Salman’s character seems to have several professions in the movie. Initially, he is seen as as a daredevil motorcyclist performing stunts, then a Navy officer and finally an ageing boxer. Jackie Shroff, Disha Patani, Katrina Kaif, Sunil Grover, Aasif Sheikh, Sonali Kulkarni and Nora Fatehi will be seen in supporting roles.

‘Bharat’ is scheduled as Eid release on June 5. Atul Agnihotri, Alvira Khan Agnihotri, Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar are jointly producing the movie.

Ramya Krishnan to star in Aakasha Ganga sequel

As reported by us earlier, director Vinayan is making a sequel to his 1999 hit film ‘Aakasha Ganga’. The original film had Divya Unni, Mukesh and Mayoori in the leads. When it comes to the sequel, the director has roped in Ramya Krishnan to play a major role. The veteran actress was last seen in Malayalam in ‘Aadupuliyattam’, which interestingly was also a horror flick.

‘Aakasha Ganga 2’ is reportedly been planned as a bilingual in Tamil and Malayalam. The movie has an elaborate supporting cast comprising of actors like Sreenth Bhasi, Salim Kumar, Hareesh Kanaran, Rajamani, Vishnu Vinay, Vishnu Govind, Dharmajan, debutante Arathy, Praveena, Thesni Khan, Niharika and many others.

On the technical front, cinematography is by Prakash Kutty and music by Bijibal. According to director Vinayan, the sequel will be technically sound and richer than the first part, that was released two decades back. Shoot is scheduled to commence from April 24 and the makers have planned to shoot in Palakkad, Pollachi, and Ernakulam.

After the completion of ‘Aakasha Ganga 2’, Vinayan will be starting works for his earlier announced biggie with superstar Mohanlal. The director has also signed for a movie with Jayasurya.

A new poster of Asif Ali starrer ‘OP 160/18 Kakshi : Amminippilla’ was released a while back in social medias. It features Asif Ali’s character Pradeepan Manjodi as an election candidate. Recently, there were rumours about the actor joining politics and contesting in elections but as it turned out to be, it’s his character in the movie who is a political aspirant.

‘Kakshi Ammnipilla’ directed by debutant Dinjith Ayyathan and scripted by Sanilesh Shivan is basically a court-room drama centred around the case of a newly wed couple, Shajith Kumar Amminipilla and wife Kanthi Sivadasan. Asif Ali plays the lead role of advocate in the movie.

Last day, on the occasion of Easter, it was announced that Mammootty will be reuniting with director Ajai Vasudev for a family oriented mass entertainer. Joby George of Goodwill Entertainment is producing the movie. Newcomers Bibin Mohan and Aneesh Hameed have scripted the movie, which has not yet been titled. The makers are planning to start shooting from the first week of August.

Mammootty and Ajai Vasudev have previously worked together in ‘Rajadhiraja’ and ‘Masterpiece’. Both the films were action-packed mass entertainers and fared pretty well commercially. The duo’s upcoming film is also said to be a similar one, but on a bigger canvas.The blockbuster success of films like ‘Pulimurugan’ and ‘Madhura Raja’ have proved that mass entertainers are still the best bet to reap big numbers at the box office.

Family audience have take a particular liking for the movie as it delivered exactly what it promised – an out and out mass entertainer for this festival season.

‘Madhura Raja’ directed by Vysakh is the spiritual successor to the 2009 superhit film ‘Pokkiriraja’. Along with Mammootty, the movie has a big supporting cast. Bollywood actress Sunny Leone made her Malayalam debut with the movie. She performed a special dance number along with Mammootty, Jai and others.

Last day, Mohanlal made a huge announcement through his monthly blog. After four decades of acting, the superstar is all set to turn a director with an ambitious 3D film. Titled as ‘Barroz’, the film is based on a mythical story set in the Portuguese backdrop. Jijo Punnoose, the visionary filmmaker who made India’s first 3D film ‘My Dear Kuttichathan’, has penned the story.

Mohanlal, in his blog titled ‘A New Journey Begins – Barroz Guardian Of D’ Gama’s Treasure’, has written,

“After over 40 years in front of the camera, I’m finally going to step behind it. Barroz is the title of the film, and it will be in 3D. It will be a film that can be enjoyed by both kids and adults alike.”

The news went viral within minutes with several celebrities wishing the superstar luck for his directorial debut. Actors like Prithviraj, Tovino Thomas, Aju Varghese, Manju Warrier were excited about the big news. Prithviraj, who had recently hinted that Mohanlal is a filmmaker with great vision, wrote on his Facebook page,

Lucifer becomes the highest grossing Malayalam movie in Tamil Nadu

Mohanlal’s ‘Lucifer’, which hit screens worldwide on March 28, continues to shatter multiple box office records. After entering the elite Rs 100 crore club from its earnings in eight days of theatrical run, the movie recently zoomed past the Rs 150 crore mark. The movie has taken just three weeks time to achieve this remarkable feat.

Adding another feather to its cap, ‘Lucifer’ has now become the highest Malayalam grosser in Tamil Nadu. In 24 days, the Mohanlal starrer has collected more than the lifetime earnings of previous record holder, ‘Premam’, which enjoyed a theatrical run of over 200 days in the neighboring state.

‘Lucifer’, directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran and scripted by Muriali Gopy, is a mass entertainer set in the backdrop of Kerala politics. Mohanlal plays the lead role in the movie, that also stars Vivek Oberoi, Tovino Thomas, Indrajith Sukumaran, Manju Warrier, Sai Kumar and Saniya Iyappan in prominent roles.

Besides its excellent run in Kerala and RoI centres like Bangalore and Chennai, ‘Lucifer’ is doing huge business in major overseas centres like the US, GCC, European countries, New Zealand and Australia.

Nee Mukilo: Check out this new song from Uyare

After garnering good response for the trailer, the makers of ‘Uyare’ have released a new song. The track titled ‘Nee Mukilo’ is rendered by Vijay Yesudas and Sithara. Rafeeq Ahamed has penned the lyrics and Gopi Sunder has composed the song.

‘Uyare’ directed by debutant Manu Ashokan has Parvathy and Asif Ali in the lead roles. Tovino Thomas is also there in an extended cameo role. Samyuktha Menon, Anarkali Marakkar, Siddique, Prathap Pothen, Prem Prakash, Bhagath Manuel and many others are also part of the supporting cast.

From the trailer and the song, the movie looks highly promising and assures of a great perfomance from Parvathy. We presume it to be an inspiring tale of an acid attack victim who through her determination achieves her ambition of becoming a pilot. The movie produced by S Cube Films is expected to hit screens on April 26.

Tovino Thomas’ new film was announced just a while back through Fahadh Faasil’s official social media handle. Actor-writer P Balachandran is scripting the film, which has been titled as ‘Edakkad Battalion 06’. Debutant Swapnesh K Nair, a former associate of Omar Lulu, will be directing the film.

Samyuktha Menon, who previously shared screen space with Tovino in ‘Theevandi’, has been signed as the female lead. Sinu Sidharth will be cranking the camera and Kailas Menon will be handling the music department. Rathin Radhakrishnan is the editor.

P Balachandran has earlier scripted acclaimed films like ‘Ulladakkam’, ‘Pavithram’, ‘Agnidevan’ and ‘Punaradhivasam’. He last penned the Rajeev Ravi directorial ‘Kammattipaadam’. Details regarding the genre of his upcoming movie with Tovino has not yet been revealed.

Sreekanth Bhasi, Thomas Joseph Pattathanam and Jayant Mammen are jointly producing ‘Edakkad Battalion 06’ under the banner of Ruby Films.

Mammootty’s three big projects announced

As informed earlier by Goodwill Entertainments, three big projects of Mammootty has been announced today on Easter day. One of them will be a family oriented mass entertainer directed by Ajai Vasudev of ‘Rajadhiraja’ and ‘Masterpiece’ fame. As per our sources within the industry, the movie is being scripted by two newcomers, Bibin Mohan and Aneesh Hameed.

Goodwill Entertainment is also producing an action film with Mammootty, which will be directed by Pramod Pappan. Famous scriptwriter Dennis Joseph is making a comeback with this film. He is well known for penning some of Mammootty’s blockbuster films like ‘Nirakoottu’ ‘New Delhi’, ‘Kottayam Kunjachan’ and ‘Nair Saab’.

The biggest among the three films announced is the much-awaited ‘Kunjali Marakkar’. The project was originally announced by August Cinema a couple of years back. Santosh Sivan was supposed to direct that film, but it couldn’t materialize. Meanwhile, director Priyadarshan planned another film on Marakkar’s life with Mohanlal. They have already completed the shoot and the movie is currently in the post-production phase.

There were doubts if Mammootty’s Marakkar will materialize, but all that has now been put to rest with Goodwill Entertainment taking up the project. Details regarding the director’s name, cast or when the movie goes on floors has not yet been revealed as discussions are still in the early stages.
