96 Kannada Remake: Check out these new stills of Bhavana-Ganesh starrer 99

As we already know, last year’s Tamil blockbuster film, ’96’ is getting remade in Kannada and Telugu. The Kannada version titled ’99’ has Ganesh and Malayali actress Bhavana in the lead roles. As the movie is gearing up for release, the makers have released a few new stills in social medias. The movie is being directed by Preetham Gubbi and produced by Ramu Films.

’96’ starring Trisha and Vijay Sethupathi wa as a huge success, both critically and commercially. It is inarguably one of the most sensational blockbusters in South Indian cinema in recent years. Directed by cinematographer-turned-filmmaker Prem Kumar, it’s a a poignant tale of two childhood sweethearts who get to meet after two decades for a school reunion. Since the storyline has an universal appeal, the makers of the remake versions will be hoping that it will be enjoyed by the respective audiences as well.

’99’ marks the comeback of Bhavana, who has been away from movies post her marriage. She was last seen in Kannada in the blockbuster Shiva Rajkumar starrer ‘Tagaru’. ’99’ will be her second film with Ganesh after sharing screen space with him in ‘Romeo’.

RRR: Samuthirakani joins SS Rajamouli’s next

Shoot for Rajamouli’s next with Ram Charan and Jr NTR is currently progressing. The movie tentatively titled as ‘RRR’ is being made on a massive canvas. Since it’s a multilingual, the movie has actors from various industries. Bollywood actors Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt, Samuthirakani and foreign actress Daisy Edgar Jones have been signed to play prominent roles in the movie. Samuthirakani has started shooting for his portions. A photo of him taken with Rajamouli on the movie’s sets is currently doing the rounds in social medias.

According to the makers, the movie is a fictitious story based on legendary freedom fighters Komaram Bheem (Jr NTR) and Alluri Seetharamaraju (Ram Charan). Set in the 1920s, the movies unveils both of them away from home (in Delhi) before they started fighting for the country. Alia Bhatt will be seen as Ram Charan’s pair while Daisy Edgar Jones will play Jr NTR’s pair in the movie.

Rajamouli’s father KV Vijayendra Prasad, who usually pens stories for his films, has written the story for RRR as well. Rajamouli has penned the screenplay and dialogues are by Sai Madhav Burra and Madhan Karky. Almost the same technical crew from ‘Baahubali’ has been retained, which includes cinematographer KK Senthil Kumar, editor Sreekar Prasad, music director MM Keeravani, production designer Sabu Cyril, VFX supervisor Srinivas Mohan and costume designer Rama Rajamouli.

The movie is being produced by DVV Danayya under the banner of DVV Entertainment. It has been planned to be released in ten languages on July 30, 2020.

Prithviraj set to join the sets of Pathinettam Padi

Actor-writer Shankar Ramakrishnan’s directorial debut ‘Pathinettam Padi’ is currently in the final stages of shoot. As reported by us earlier, Prithviraj will be playing a cameo role in the movie. He will be joining the team next week and his portions have been planned to be shot in Alappuzha.

The lead cast of ‘Pathinettam Padi’ comprises of teenage actors from all 14 districts of the state. Mammootty appears in an extended cameo role in the movie. He plays a character named John Abraham Palackal and he sports a new look in the movie. He has already wrapped up shooting for his portions.

Apart from Mammootty and Prithviraj, the movie will also have Tovino Thomas and Arya playing guest roles. Tovino is expected to shoot for his portions shortly while Arya’s portions have been planned to be shot in Manali. Details about their characters have not yet been revealed

Priya Anand, Saniya Iyappan, Ahaana Krishna, Biju Sopanam and Maala Parvathy are part of the movie’s supporting cast. It’s technical crew mostly comprises of newcomers. Cinematography is handled by Sudeep Elamon while music is by KH Kaashif. Bhuvan Sreenivas is the editor. August Cinema is producing the movie.

Mera Naam Shaji all set for release tomorrow amidst high expectations

After the success of ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’ and ‘Kattapanayile Rithwik Roshan’, director Nadirshah will be eyeing a hits with ‘Mera Naam Shaji’, which is set to hit screens tomorrow (April 5). The movie has Asif Ali, Biju Menon and Baiju Santhosh in the leads. The makers have assured that it will be an out and out entertainer with plenty of moments to laugh.

‘Mera Naam Shaji’ is a story about three men named Shaji, who are from different parts of Kerala. Circumstances force them to accidentally meet at a point. While Baiju plays the character Shaji Sukumaran from Trivandrum, Asif Ali’s Shaji George is from Ernakulam. Biju Menon’s character, is from Kozhikode. Nikhila Vimal plays the female lead. Sreenivasan, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Jaffer Idukki, Sadiq and Ganesh Kumar are also part of the cast.

Dileep Ponnan and Shani Khader have jointly penned the movie’s story and screenplay is by the former. Vinod Ilampally has cranrked the camera and music is by Emil Muhammed. B Rakesh is producing the movie under the banner of Universal Cinema.

Looks like it’s the season of multi-starrers in Malayalam. After ‘Lucifer’, ‘Virus’ and ‘Thuramukham’, we have one more such film coming up. Kunchacko Boban, Joju George, Vinayakan and Dileesh Pothan are coming together for a new film to be directed by Kamal KM of ‘I.D’ fame. E4 Entertainment is producing the film, which will have cinematography by Sameer Thahir. Details regarding the genre or when shoot commences are not yet known.

Director Kamal KM’s ‘I.D’, also his debut film, was a widely acclaimed work that went on to be screened at various international film festivals across the world. Rajeev Ravi’s Collective Phase One produced the film that had National award winner Geetanjali Thapa in the lead. ‘I.D’ had its premiere at the Busan International Film Festival. It was later selected in Abu Dhabi Film Festival, International Film Festival of India (IFFI), International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) and Deauville Asian Film Festival.

Kamal KM has got a very promising set of actors for debut film in Malayalam.Let’s hope it lives up to the expectations. An official announcement is expected to be made very shortly.

Chunkzz team to reunite for Omar Lulu’s next

Director Omar Lulu has announced that ‘Chunkzz’ team will be coming together once again for his next film. However, the director has not revealed whether it is for a sequel or a completely fresh subject. Earlier, there were reports about Omar trying to rope in famous pornstar Mia Khalifa for ‘Chunkzz 2’. It was reported that a Mumbai based production company had also initiated talks with the representatives of Mia Khalifa, but nothing materialized.

‘Chunkzz’ starring Balu Varghese, Honey Rose, Ganapathi, Dharamajan and Vishak Nair in the lead roles was an youthful comedy entertainer. Upon release in August 2017, the movie got heavily panned by the critics but managed to emerge as a big hit at the box office. The new film is scheduled to start rolling from May.

It is worth a mention that, Omar Lulu had also announced two other projects – one a love story with ‘Oru Adaar Love’ fame Noorin Sheriff and another an action film with Babu Antony in the lead.

Fahadh Faasil to team up with Mammootty for Bilal?

It’s been nearly two years since Amal Neerad made a surprising announcement about ‘Bilal’, a second part to ‘Big B’. But since then there have been no further updates about this much-anticipated project. But latest buzz is that script works for the movie have almost been completed and the makers are currently busy working on the pre-production.

It is said that Fahadh Faasil will also be playing a prominent role alongside Mammootty in ‘Bilal’. Suhas and Sharfu of ‘Varathan’ fame are scripting the film and dialogues are penned by Unni R, who was part of ‘Big B’ as well. Littil Swayamp is said to be the cinematographer and Gopi Sunder, the music director. As per these unconfirmed reports, Amal Neerad, Anwar Rasheed and Fahadh Faasil will be jointly producing the movie.

Mammootty meanwhile is busy shooting for ‘Maamaankam’, the period flick directed by M Padmakumar. After that, he will start works for ‘Ganagandharvan’, a comedy entertainer directed by Ramesh Pisharody. If reports are to be believed, ‘Bilal’ will go on floors soon after the completion of ‘Ganagandharvan’.

The much-awaited Bollywood multi-starrer ‘Kalank’ is getting ready for release this month. The movie’s grand trailer was released a while back in social medias. This Abishek Varman directorial has Madhuri Dixit, Sanjay Dutt, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Aditya Roy Kapur and Sonakshi Sinha in the lead roles. Kriti Sanon and Kiara Advani appear in cameo roles.

This 2-minute-12-second long trailer looks posh and reminds instantly of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s films with the grandeur in setting. The movie is an epic love story is set in the 1940s. It marks the return of the popular on-screen pair of the 90s, Madhuri Dixit and Sanjay Dutt, who enjoyed huge fan following with their sizzling chemistry in movies like ‘Saajan’, ‘Khalnayak’ among others. It is worth a mention that Sridevi was originally supposed to play the female lead but after her tragic demise last year, Madhuri was signed for the role.

Abhishek Varman, who made an impressive directorial debut with ‘2 States’, has also penned the screenplay for ‘Kalank’. Story is written by Shibani Bathija. Fox Star Studios, Dharma Productions and Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment are jointly producing this movie, which is slated to hit screens worldwide on April 17, 2019.

Dulquer Salmaan has informed that he will be coming live on his official Facebook handle to announce the release date of ‘Oru Yamandan Premakadha’ (OYP). He has written,

Hey everyone ! Ok so I dont really come live or anything very often but thought it might be fun to do tomorrow to announce our release date ! So catch our team of Vishnu-Bibin and our director BC Noufalikka along with yours truly tomorrow at 7 pm coming live on my fb page.

‘OYP’ directed by debutant BC Noufal is touted to be a full-on commercial mass entertainer. Vishnu Unnikrishnan and Bibin George have scripted the movie jointly. Last week, the makers had released a teaser, which was reminiscent of the mass masala entertainers made in Tamil and Telugu.

Dulquer is making his return to Malayalam after over a year and so naturally expectations are high for the movie. He plays a Kochi based local chap named Lallu. The movie has two female leads in Nikhila Vimal and ‘Theevandi’ fame Samyuktha Menon. Arun Kurian, Hareesh Kanaran, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Salim Kumar, Soubin Shahir, Vishnu Unnikrishnan and Bibin George are also part of the supporting cast.

Ajith-Vidya Balan starrer Nerkonda Paarvai shoot completed

Shoot for Ajith’s upcoming film ‘Nerkonda Paarvai’ has been wrapped up. The movie directed by H Vinoth of ‘Theeran’ fame is the official remake of acclaimed Hindi film ‘Pink’. It has Ajith reprising Amitabh Bachchan’s role from the original. Bollywood producer Boney Kapoor, husband of late actress Sridevi, is making his debut in Kollywood by producing this movie.

Major portions of ‘Nerkonda Paarvai’ was shot in Ramoji Rao Film City in Hyderabad. The movie marks the Tamil debut of Vidya Balan. She plays the role of Ajith’s wife in the movie. Shraddha Srinath has been cast in the role played by Taapsee in ‘Pink’. The supporting cast also includes Abhirami Venkatachalam, Andrea Tariang, Rangaraj Pandey, Arjun Chidambaram, Adhik Ravichandran, Aswin Rao and Sujith Shankar.

As announced officially by the makers, ‘Nerkonda Paarvai’ will be hitting screens worldwide on August 10, Saturday. So, the makers have a good four month time for the post-production works.
