Lucifer trailer and Madura Raja teaser to be out tomorrow

As the summer season is about to kick in, Malayalam industry is set to witness a slew of big releases. The two big Ms of Malayalam have a release each lined up for this season. Mohanlal’s ‘Lucifer’ will be the first to hit screens on March 28 while Mammootty’s ‘Madura Raja’ is scheduled for next month during the Vishu weekend.

Prior to the box office clash, a social media clash is awaiting. The trailer of ‘Lucifer’ and teaser of ‘Madura Raja’ will be out tomorrow (March 20). Teaser will be released by 6 PM, while the trailer will be out on 9 PM. Big M fans are highly excited about the clash and it will be interesting to see which of the two makes the maximum impact.

Both ‘Lucifer’ and ‘Madura Raja’ are mass entertainers that have the potential to set the box office on fire. ‘Lucifer’ is a film that comes with immense hype. Actor Prithviraj is making his directorial debut with this movie, and that too with a superstar like Mohanlal in the lead, expectations are bound to be high. Murali Gopy is scripting this movie, which is touted to be a political thriller. The movie’s star studded cast also has Vivek Oberoi, Tovino Thomas, Indrajith Sukumaran and Manju Warrier.

Mammootty’s ‘Madura Raja’ is also an eagerly awaited film. The Vysaksh directorial has Mammootty reprising his character from the 2010 blockbuster film, ‘Pokkiri Raja’. The movie has high expectations majorly due to the fact that Vysakh-Udhayakrishna team’s last film ‘Pulimurugan’ emerged as a record breaking blockbuster.Mammootty fans are hoping that the duo will be able to repeat the success this time as well.

Dileep-Arjun starrer Jack Daniel set to go on floors

We had earlier reported about Dileep reuniting with his ‘Speed Track’ director SL Puram Jayasurya for a new movie titled ‘Jack Daniel’. Along with Dileep, the movie will also have veteran Tamil actor Arjun in a prominent role. As per latest reports, the movie is all set to start rolling. A customary pooja has been planned to be held on Thursday (March 21) and shoot will formally kick-start on April 10.

‘Jack Daniel’ is said to be an action-packed film planned on a big scale. The movie is being produced by Shibu Thameens of Thameens Films. Anju Kurian of ‘Kavi Udheshichathu’ and ‘Njan Prakashan’ fame has been signed as the female lead. Saiju Kurup, Devan and Aju Varghese are also part of the supporting cast. Details about the technical crew will be revealed shortly.

Meanwhile, Dileep is busy shooting for KP Vyasan’s ‘Shubharathri’. He still has a few portions left to be completed for ‘Professor Dinkan’. The movie directed by Ramachandra Babu is being entirely made in 3D format. ‘Parakkum Pappan’ with debutant Viyan Vishnu and ‘Pickpocket’ with P Balachandra Kumar are his other projects that have been formally announced. Besides that, he has also committed for films with veterans Joshiy and Priyadarshan.

Mammootty allots 60 more days for Maamaankam

‘Maamaankam’ shoot is currently progressing. After a long gap, Mammootty is set to join the team. The actor has given 60 more days from his packed schedule for this movie. ‘Maamaankam’ originally went on floors in mid-2018. But the team was hit by quite a few controversies which included the ousting of its director Sajeev Pillai. M Padmakumar is helming the film now. The movie now has a new set of actors and technicians.

‘Maamaankam’ is based on the medieval fair, Maamaankam, where brave warriors from various regions would come together to showcase their skills at combat. Mammootty plays the lead role of a fiery ‘Chaaver’ (warrior) in this movie, which revolves around the life of warriors who plot to defeat the Zamorin rulers.

Unni Mukundan is playing a prominent role in the movie. Kaniha and Anu Sithara play the two female leads. Others in the cast include Siddique, Abu Salim, Sudheer Sukumaran and others. Venu Kunnappilly is producing the movie under the banner of Kavya Films. The makers are planning and release the movie by this year itself.

As the release date is closing in, the makers of ‘Lucifer’ have decided to increase the hype by releasing the trailer. The much awaited trailer will be out tomorrow (March 20) at 9 PM. Besides that, a grand trailer launch has also been planned to be held on March 22 in Dalma Mall, Abu Dhabi. Mohanlal, Tovino, Prithviraj, Manju Warrier, Murali Gopy and Antony Perumbavoor will be attending the event.

Last day, ‘Lucifer’ was censored with no cuts and given a U certificate. It is said that the movie has a run time of 2 hour 48 minutes, which is understandable considering the scale and the numerous characters in it. The movie directed by Prithviraj and scripted by Murali Gopy is a political thriller. Mohanlal, Indrajith, Tovino, Prithviraj, Manju Warrier, Vivek Oberoi, Nyla Usha Fazil and many others are part of the cast.

The makers have planned to release the movie in 3 languages (Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu) in over 1500 theatres worldwide.

Nadirshah’s new directorial ‘Mera Naam Shaji’ is gearing up for release next month. The movie starring Asif Ali, Biju Menon and Baiju in the leads is touted to be a full on fun entertainer. It is the story of three individuals named Shaji. While Baiju’s character Shaji Sukumaran is from Trivandrum, Asif Ali’s Shaji George is from Ernakulam. Biju Menon’s character is from Kozhikode.

After the first single ‘Manasukulla’ rendered by Shreya Ghoshal, a new video has been released featuring the process that went behind the making of the song ‘Marhaba’. Debutant Emil Muhammed has composed the song, lyrics for which is penned by Santhosh Varma (Malayalam) and Munna Shoukath Ali (Urdu). Javed Ali has lent his voice for the track.

From the promos, ‘Mera Naam Shaji’ looks like an out and out fun-filled mass entertainer on the lines of Nadirshah’s previous two films, ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’ and ‘Kattappanayile Rithwik Roshan’. The director will be hoping to continue his successful run. B Rakesh is producing the movie under the banner of of Universal Cinema.

The much awaited multi-starrer ‘Virus’ is gearing up to hit screens next month. After wrapping up the shoot last week, the makers have now released a very intriguing first look poster. Directed by Aashiq Abu, the movie is based on last year’s deadly Nipah outbreak in Kerala. Muhsin Parari of ‘Sudani From Nigeria’ fame and Suhas-Sharfu, the writers of ‘Varathan’ have jointly scripted the movie.

The cast of ‘Virus’ includes Tovino Thomas, Asif Ali, Kunchacko Boban, Indrajith Sukumaran, Parvathy, Rima Kallingal, Poornima Indrajith, Soubin Shahir, Rahman, Dileesh Pothan, Savitri Sreedharan, Sarasa Balussery, Shebin Benson, Jinu Joseph, Basil Joseph, Indrans, Remya Nambeeshan, Madonna Sebastian,Sharafudheen, Sreenath Bhasi, Revathy, Joju George, Senthil Krishna, Sudeesh and Vettukili Prakash.

‘Virus’ also has a strong technical crew comprising of cinematographers Rajeev Ravi and Shyju Khalid, music director Sushin Shyam and editor Saiju Sreedharan. Aashiq Abu and Rima Kallingal are producing the movie under the banner of OPM. The movie has been scheduled for April release during the Vishu season.

As informed earlier by the makers, ‘Lucifer’ was sent to censors today. The CBFC officials have cleared the movie with no cuts and given a U certificate. It is said that the movie has a run time of 2 hour 48 minutes, which is understandable considering the scale and the numerous characters in it. With the censoring done, it is also most confirmed that the movie will be having a grand worldwide release on March 28.

Directed by Prithviraj and scripted by Murali Gopy, ‘Lucifer’ is getting ready as a political thriller. The movie has some other big names in Indrajith Sukumaran, Tovino Thomas, Vivek Oberoi, Manju Warrier, Nyla Usha, Bala, Sachin Khedekar and Fazil among others.
The makers have planned to release the movie in 3 languages (Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu) in over 1500 theatres worldwide.

A grand launch has been planned to be held on March 22 in Dalma Mall, Abu Dhabi. Mohanlal, Tovino, Prithviraj, Manju Warrier, Murali Gopy and Antony Perumbavoor will be attending the event.

Mammootty starrer ‘Unda’ is among one of the most awaited Malayalam movies of the year. The movie directed by Khalid Rahman of ‘Anuraga Karikkin Vellam’ fame is touted to be an comedy action thriller. The movie has been on the floors for over the last few months. After wrapping up a schedule in Trissur, the team is currently in Chhattisgarh for the final leg of shoot. Mammootty is yet to join the team as he is currently shooting in Athirappally for Shankar Ramakrishnan’s ‘Pathinettam Padi’.

‘Unda’ has its story penned by Khalid Rahman and screenplay by Harshad. Mammootty plays the role of sub-Inspector Mani in the movie. Shine Tom Chacko, Jacob Gregory, Arjun Ashokan, Dileesh Pothan, Lukman, Rony David and Bollywood actors Omkar Das Manikpuri, Bhagwan Tiwari, Chien Ho Liao are also part of the cast.

Unda has a promising technical crew headed by cinematographer Gavemic U Ary, action choreographer Sham Kaushal and music director Prashanth Pillai. Krishnan Sethukumarr is producing the film under the banner of Moviee Mill in association with Gemini Studios.

As per our sources within the industry, young stars Sunny Wayne and Antony Varghese will be teaming up for director Anil Radhakrishnan Menon’s next. The director is noted for his films like ‘North 24 Kaatham’, ‘Sapthamashree Thaskaraha’ and ‘Lord Livingston 700 Kandi’.

His debut film ‘North 24..’ starring Fahadh Faasil, Nedumudi Venu and Swathi Reddy had won him a National award for best feature film in Malayalam in 2013. His last release was ‘Diwanjimoola Grand Prix’, which failed to live up to the expectations.

Anil Radhakrishnan Menon had recently announced a project named ‘Khamaroonisa 14/24/130’. It is not clear if Sunny Wayne and Antony Varghese are coming together for this film. An official confirmation in this regard is still awaited. It must be noted that Sunny has previously worked with the director in ‘Lord Livingston 700 Kandi’.

Meanwhile, Antony Varghese has two other films coming up. ‘Jallikattu’, directed by his mentor Lijo Jose Pellissery is currently in the post-production stage. It is expected to hit screens by mid-2019. Antony has also signed for a film with Tinu Pappachan, with whom he had previously worked in ‘Swathandhryam Ardharathriyil’.

Sunny, on the other hand, is working on ‘Vritham’, a neo-noir crime thriller,which marks the directorial debut of actress Gauthami Nair. Nivin Pauly is playing an extended cameo in the movie.

As announced earlier, Ramesh Pisharody’s next directorial venture will have megastar Mammootty in the lead. The movie titled as ‘Ganagandharvan’ is touted to be a full-on fun entertainer. As per latest reports, the movie will start rolling in May. Mammootty will be joining the team soon after he finishes his ongoing commitments.

Ramesh Pisharody turned a director last year with ‘Panchavarnathatha’, a fun-filled entertainer starring Jayaram and Kunchacko Boban. The movie emerged successful at the box office. ‘Ganagandharvan’ is also expected to be on similar lines. Pisharody has scripted the movie jointly with Hari P Nair. More details regarding the other cast and crew will be formally announced shortly.

Mammootty meanwhile is currently shooting for ‘Pathinettam Padi’, in which he plays an extended cameo role. The Khalid Rahman directorial ‘Unda’ is also nearing completion. The star’s highly anticipated ‘Madura Raja’ is gearing up for Vishu release next month.
