Tamil actor Vishal got engaged to his girlfriend Anisha Alla Reddy today (March 16) in a private ceremony in Hyderabad. Close friends and family members of the couple attended the engagement and showered their wishes. Malayalam superstar Mohanlal and his wife Suchithra graced the occasion. Mohanlal is currently in Hyderabad for the shoot of his film, ‘Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham’.

Vishal and Mohanlal share a good rapport as they have worked together in the B Unnikrishnan directorial ‘Villain’. Mohanlal played the lead role of a cop in the movie while Vishal did the antagonist’s part in it. Vishal’s engagement was attended by some notable celebrities from Tamil industry like Khushbu, her daughter Anandita, Sriman, Manobala, Nanda and Ramana.

Early this year, Vishal and Anisha made their relationship official through social medias. Vishal, who is also the Nadigar Sangam secretary, has said that their wedding would take place in the Nadigar Sangam building.

Shoot progressing for Kalidas Jayaram’s Happy Sardar

Kalidas Jayaram is currently shooting in Punjab for his new movie ‘Happy Sardar’. The actor plays a Punjabi Sardar named Happy Singh in the film. A few stills of the actor in a typical Punjabi attire with the turban has been released by the makers.

‘Happy Sardar’ marks the debut of writer-director couple Sudip Joshy and Geethika Sudip. As per the makers, the movie is a fun entertainer that has a love story between a Punjabi and a Malayali Christian girl at its core. Merin Philip is paired with Kalidas in the movie.

Bollywood actor Javed Jaffrey will be appearing in a prominent role as Kalidas’ father. There is also an elaborate supporting cast comprising of Siddique, Sreenath Bhasi, Balu Varghese, Shanthi Krishna, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Siddhi Mahajankatti, Vishak Nair, Ramesh Pisharody, Dharmajan, Praveena and Baiju.

Cinematographer Abhinandan Ramanujam, composer Gopi Sunder and editor Shameer Muhammed form the movie’s core technical crew. It is being produced jointly by Achicha Cinemas and Malayalam Movie Makers.

Prithviraj starrer Brother’s Day starts rolling

Kalabhavan Shajohn’s maiden film as a director, ‘Brother’s Day’, has started rolling. The movie starring Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead role is touted to be a commercial mass entertainer. It will be a refreshing change from the experimental films that the actor has been doing a lot of late. Confirming the same, Prithvi has written in his Facebook page, that it has been a while since he has done such a mass film with dance, action and all fun.

‘Brother’s Day’ reportedly has four heroines – Aishwarya Lekshmi, Prayaga Rose Martin, Aima Rose Sebastian and Miya George. Among the four, only Miya has acted with Prithviraj previously. They have earlier shared screen space in ‘Memories’, ‘Anarkali’ and ‘Pavada’.

The movie has cinematography by Jithu Damodar, songs composed by the multi-talented Nadirshah and background score by 4 Musics of ‘Oppam’ fame. Listin Stephen is producing the movie under the banner of Magic Frames.

Indrajith confirms working in an ‘exciting’ project with Gautham Menon

2019 looks super promising for Indrajith Sukumaran as he already has three big films in his kitty. Besides his brother Prithviraj’s directorial debut ‘Lucifer’, he is also part of Aashiq Abu’s ‘Virus’ and Rajeev Ravi’s ‘Thuramukham’. All these the films have high expectations among the Malayali audience. Apart from these aforementioned films, the actor is also part of a very special project in Tamil.

In a recent interview, Indrajith revealed that he is working with ace filmmaker Gautham Menon in an exciting project. We hear that it is a web series based on the life of late Tamil Nadu CM J Jayalalithaa. Shoot for the same has been silently progressing for the past couple of months. Ramya Krishnan is said to be playing Jayalalithaa’s role while Indrajith essays MGR’s part in it. Apparently, the latter has also finished shooting for his portions.

Gautham Menon decided to make a web series as he felt it is impossible to capture Jayalalithaa’s illustrious life in a 3-hour-long movie.The series reportedly has about 20 episodes. A leading production house is behind the project and it will be officially announced shortly with a teaser release.

The 26-day 26-character introduction poster series of ‘Lucifer’ is coming to an end tomorrow. Today, being the penultimate day, a poster featuring Vivek Oberoi has been released by the makers. The actor plays a character named Bobby in the movie. He looks stylish and suave in his suited look in the poster.

‘Lucifer’ is directed by Prithviraj and scripted by Murali Gopy. Mohanlal plays the lead role in the movie. Vivek has earlier worked with Mohanlal in Ram Gopal Varma’s ‘Company’. ‘Lucifer’ marks his debut in Malayalam. He is said to be playing the antagonist in the movie. Earlier in an interview, he had said that ‘Lucifer’ is the most attractive script that he has got in his 16-year-long career.

He is quoted saying, “It is a very exciting project and I don’t know whether I will get a role like this in Hindi. I can say that as an actor, Prithvi has pushed me to a point where it is challenging and exciting to play it. I don’t think I have played a character of this sort in my entire career. It’s a character with many layers of grey and is a crazy experience.”

Besides Mohanlal and Vivek, ‘Lucifer’ also has some other stars like Indrajith Sukumaran, Tovino Thomas and Manju Warrier in major roles. Antony Perumbavoor is producing the movie under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas. The movie is expected to hit screenns on March 28.

As informed earlier by the makers, the second look poster of ‘Oru Yamandan Premakadha’ (OYP) has been released. The new poster features Dulquer Salmaan, Salim Kumar, Soubin Shahir and Vishnu Unnikrishnan. Dulquer is making his return to Malayalam after over a year and so expectations are high for the movie.

OYP directed by debutant BC Noufal is touted to be a full-on commercial mass entertainer. The superhit writer duo of Bibin George and Vishnu Unnikrishnan.’OYP’ is expected to be similar to the writer duo’s previous films,’Amar Akbar Anthony’ and ‘Kattappanayile Rithwik Roshan’.

Nikhila Vimal and ‘Theevandi’ fame Samyuktha Menon play the two female leads. Arun Kurian, Hareesh Kanaran, Dharmajan Bolgatty and Bibin George are also part of the supporting cast. Nadirshah is composing the songs. Anto Joseph is producing the movie under his banner, Anto Joseph Film Company. Release date has not yet been announced.

Nadirshah’s new film ‘Mera Naam Shaji’ is gearing up for release next month. The movie starring Asif Ali, Biju Menon and Baiju in the leads is touted to be a full on fun entertainer. As informed earlier by the makers, first song from the movie was released online just a while back.

The song titled ‘Manasukulla’ is a romantic track featuring Asif Ali and Nikhila Vimal. Shreya Ghoshal has rendered the track,lyrics for which is penned by Santhosh Varma. Debutant Emil Muhammed has composed the song.

‘Mera Naam Shaji’ is the story of three individuals named Shaji. While Baiju’s character Shaji Sukumaran is from Trivandrum, Asif Ali’s Shaji George is from Ernakulam. Biju Menon’s character is from Kozhikode. From the promos, the movie looks like a fun mass entertainer on the lines of Nadirshah’s previous two films, ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’ and ‘Kattappanayile Rithwik Roshan’.

B Rakesh is producing the movie under the banner of of Universal Cinema.

Parineeti Chopra replaces Shraddha Kapoor in Saina Nehwal biopic

Last September, it was originally announced that Shraddha Kapoor will be playing the lead in Saina Nehwal’s biopic. The makers had also released a first look poster during the announcement. However, it is now learnt that Shraddha has been replaced by Parineeti Chopra. Amul Gupte will be directing the movie which has been planned as an early 2020 release.

Confirming the same, trade analyst Taran Adarsh has tweeted,

IT’S OFFICIAL… Parineeti Chopra to play renowned badminton player #SainaNehwal… She will start training for the biopic soon… Directed by Amole Gupte… Produced by Bhushan Kumar… Filming will be completed by 2019-end… Early 2020 release.

Shraddha Kapoor had been training hard in badminton under the guidance Indian team coach Pullela Gopichand. But she had to opt out due to her schedule clashes. Parineeti will soon be stepping in her shoes and work hard to play the role.

Saina Nehwal is the only Indian female badminton player to be ranked as World No 1.Her 2012 Olympic bronze medal win remains a defining moment in Indian sporting history. She has also won the badminton singles Commonwealth Gold for the country in 2010, and then again in 2018.

Veteran director Bhadran is all set to make a comeback with a biggie. His new film will have last year’s Kerala State award winners Joju George and Soubin Shahir as the male leads. Rima Kallingal has been signed as the heroine. S Suresh Babu, who has penned films like ‘Nadan’, ‘Shikkar’ and ‘Kanal’, is scripting this upcoming movie as well. There is a buzz that the movie has been titled as ‘Ponnum Kurishu’, but it it yet to be confirmed. Official announcement with full details about the cast and crew is expected to be made shortly.

Director Bhadran is well known for helming films like ‘Spadikam’, ‘Iyer The Great’ and ‘Yuvathurki’. His rapport with Mohanlal is very popular as they together have delivered hits like ‘Spadikam’, ‘Uncle Bun’, ‘Olympian Anthony Adam’. The director’s comeback film was initially supposed to be an action thriller with Mohanlal but the movie got postponed due to the star’s date issues. It will be interesting to see Bhadran collaborate with new age actors like Soubin, Rima and Joju.

The last few years have been extremely fruitful for Soubin and Joju. Ever since Sudani From Nigeria’, Soubin has been getting many big offers. He currently has John Paul George’s ‘Ambili’, Anwar Rasheed’s ‘Trance’ and debutant Ratheesh Balakrishnan Poduval’s ‘Android Kunjappan Ver 5.25’ in his kitty.

For Joju, the superhit success of ‘Joseph’ has been a big booster. He is currently doing Joshiy’s ‘Porinchu Mariam Jose’. Rima Kallingal, who is known to be choosy with her movies, is returning to acting after a one year long gap. His last release was ‘Aabhasam’. She also has her husband Aashiq Abu’s ‘Virus’ coming up.

He has already started shooting for ‘Manoharam’, directed by Anwar Sadiq of ‘Ormayundo Ee Mukham’ fame. Vineeth will also be seen in a new film titled ‘Thaneermathan Varshangal’.

Debutant Girish AD is directing the movie. It also stars ‘Kumbalangi Nights’ Mathew Thomas in a prominent role. Jomon T John, editor Shameer Muhammed and Shebin Becker are coming together to produce the movie. Jomon will also be wielding the camera and music is by Justin Varghese of ‘Njandukalude Naatil Oridavela’ fame.

Girish AD is noted in the short film circle for his films like ‘Vishuddha Ambrossey’ and ‘Mookuthi’. He was also one of the scriptwriters of the recently released Kunchacko Boban starrer ‘Allu Ramendran’. He has scripted his directorial debut ‘Thaneermathan Varshangal’ jointly with Dinoy Paulose.
