Lal Singh Chaddha: Aamir Khan to star in Forrest Gump remake

Bollywood’s Mr. Perfectionist Aamir Khan celebrated his birthday last day. On the joyous occasion, it was announced that Aamir would be starring in the official remake of classic American film ‘Forrest Gump’. The remake titled as ‘Lal Singh Chaddha’ will be helmed by Advait Chandan, a former accomplice of Aamir. Actor Atul Kulkarni is scripting the movie.

Advait made his directorial debut with the superhit film ‘Secret Superstar’, which was produced by Aamir Khan. The star is also producing ‘Lal Singh Chaddha’ jointly with Viacom 18 Motion Productions.The makers are planning to start shooting from October. It will be shot mostly in northern India, in and around the state of Punjab. Aamir Khan will be losing almost 20 kilos for the film.

‘Forrest Gump’, released in 1994, is a comedy drama based on the 1986 novel of the same name by Winston Groom. The movie was directed by Robert Zemeckis and written by Eric Roth. Tom Hanks played the titular role in the movie, which also had Robin Wright, Gary Sinise, Mykelti Williamson, and Sally Field in key roles. The movie won six Academy Awards including best piicture, best director, best actor, best adapted screenplay, best visual effects and best film editing.

National award winning filmmaker Thiagarajan Kumararaja’s ‘Super Deluxe’ is eagerly awaited by serious cinephiles across the country. The director is making a comeback eight years after he made his debut with the cult-hit ‘Aaranya Kaandam’. His new movie that has an ensemble of proficient actors like Fahadh Faasil, Vijay Sethupathi, Mysskin, Samantha and Ramya Krishnan is getting ready to hit screens by the end of this month.

Recently, a special screening of the movie was arranged for selected invitees. Bollywood’s maverick filmmaker Anurag Kashyap was one of them. Highly impressed by the film, Kashyap took to his social media handle to tweet,

“Saw Kumar Raja’s Super Deluxe” – mind blown … so much to celebrate..

It is worth a mention that director Thiagarajan Kumararaja had initially approached Kashyap to write a segment in the film, but it could not materialize. Repenting on missing out the opportunity, the latter has tweeted,

After having seen the film , my regret to not be part of “Super Deluxe” has grown multi-folds.. KumarRaja is an unabashed , fearless filmmaker with so many tricks up his sleeves. I am not at liberty to say things but you just don’t see it coming..

Earlier, while sharing the trailer, Kashyap had written,

I had a chance to be part of this film and I regret to have missed the chance . Director @itisthatis super awesome trailer of “Super Deluxe” is here. Film releasing March 29th

Expectations are massive for ‘Super Deluxe’ since it has some of the finest talents of South Indian cinema working in it.The movie’s screenplay is jointly penned by Mysskin, Nalan Kumarasamy, Neelan K Sekar and Thiagarajan Kumararaja. PS Vinod and Nirav Shah have cranked the camera. Music department is handled by Yuvan Shankar Raja.

Last evening, the first look poster of Shane Nigam starrer ‘Ishq’ was released by Mammootty through his official social media handle. The stylishly designed poster by Old Monks features Shane Nigam smoking a cigarette. Though the movie is titled as ‘Ishq’, it comes with an intriguing tagline – ‘not a love story’.

Debutant Anuraj Manohar is directing the movie and is scripted by Ratheesh Ravi of ‘Pullikkaran Staraa’ fame. The movie has cinematography by Ansarsha and music by Shaan Rahman. Kiran Das of ‘Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum’ fame is handling the edits.

Shane Nigam is currently on a high after the success of ‘Kumbalangi Nights. His performance as one of the lead characters, Bobby, has been well received earning praise from all corners. He will be hoping to continue the good run with ‘Ishq’.

The movie produced by Mukesh R Mehta, AV Anoop and CV Sarathy under the banner of E4 Entertainment is scheduled for summer release this year.

The makers of ‘Lucifer’ have released a new poster featuring Manju Warrier today. The actress plays a character named Priyadarshini Ramdas in the movie. It must be noted that actor Sachin Khedekar plays a character named PK Ramdas and Tovino Thomas’ character is named Jathin Ramdas. So we presume that Tovino and Manju play siblings in the movie. ‘Lucifer’ also comes with the tagline ‘Blood, Brotherhood and Betrayal’. All this makes up for a very interesting set up.

Manju Warrier’s character is said to be a very strong and performance oriented one. Saniya Iyappan of ‘Queen’ fame reportedly plays her daughter. Murali Gopy has scripted the movie as a political thriller with Mohanlal in the lead role of Stephen Nedumbally.

Besides the aforementioned, the movie has a host of other actors like Indrajith Sukumaran, Vivek Oberoi, Bala, Kalabhavan Shajohn, Nyla Usha, Sai Kumar, Nandu, Saniya Iyappan, John Vijay, Fazil Shaun Romy and many others. As we already know, SS Rajamouli’s next is with young superstars Ram Charan and Jr NTR in the leads. The movie tentatively titled as ‘RRR’ is being made as a multilingual on a massive canvas. First schedule of the movie has already been done. Today, the makers had a press meet where interesting details about the movie were revealed.

The movie is a fictitious story be based on legendary freedom fighters Komaram Bheem (Jr NTR) and Alluri Seetharamaraju (Ram Charan). Set in the 1920s, the movies unveils both of them away from home (in Delhi) before they started fighting for the country. It is a pan-Indian film panited on a large canvas.

Bollywood actors Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt, Samuthirakani and foreign actress Daisy Edgar Jones will be seen in prominent roles in the movie. Alia Bhatt will be seen as Ram Charan’s pair while Daisy Edgar Jones will play Jr NTR’s pair in the movie.

Expectations are humongous for the movie, and naturally so, as this is Rajamouli’s next after he created history with the ‘Baahubali’ series. The director’s father KV Vijayendra Prasad, who usually pens stories for his films, has written the story for RRR as well. Rajamouli has penned the screenplay and dialogues are by Sai Madhav Burra and Madhan Karky.

Almost the same technical crew from ‘Baahubali’ has been retained, which includes DOP KK Senthil Kumar, editor Sreekar Prasad, music director MM Keeravani, production designer Sabu Cyril, VFX supervisor Srinivas Mohan and costume designer Rama Rajamouli. The movie is being produced by DVV Danayya under the banner of DVV Entertainment. It will be releasing worldwide in 10 languages on July 30, 2020.

Usha Uthup records a song for Lucifer

Prithviraj’s directorial debut Lucifer is getting ready for a worldwide release this month end. Post-production works are currently in the final stages. Last day, veteran singer Usha Uthup recorded a song for the movie. The track titled ‘Lucifer Anthem’ is composed by Deepak Dev and written by Murali Gopy, who has also scripted the movie.

An excited Murali Gopy took to his social media handle to share photos from the recording session. He has written,

Fan moment. We have always been great admirers of the way she delivers a song, in a way only she can. So, it was a great thing for Raju, Deepak and me, when Usha Didi agreed to sing a song for ‘Lucifer’. Composed by Deepak Dev and written by me, the song is being titled “The Lucifer Anthem”. Also seen in one of these pictures is Usha Didi’s daughter and famous RJ Anjali Uthup Kurian.

Lucifer starring Mohanlal in the lead is touted to be a political thriller. The movie has a star studded cast comprising of Indrajith, Tovino, Vivek Oberoi, Manju Warrier, Bala, Kalabhavan Shajohn, Nyla Usha, Sai Kumar, Nandu, Saniya Iyappan, John Vijay, Sachin Khedekar, Shaun Romy and many others.

Promotions are currently on in full swing. The makers have planned a grand trailer launch on March 22, to be held in Dalma Mall, Abu Dhabi. Mohanlal, Tovino Thomas, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Manju Warrier, Murali Gopy and Antony Perumbavoor will be attending the event. Actor-writer Shankar Ramakrishnan is making his directorial debut with ‘Pathinettam Padi’. The movie’s lead cast includes teenage actors from all 14 districts of the state. As reported by us earlier, Mammootty plays an extended cameo role in the movie. He plays a character named John Abraham Palackal and he sports a new look in the movie. Earlier this year, the actor had shot for a few portions and his remaining scenes will be shot next week.

The latest we hear is that ‘Pathinettam Padi’ will have some more star presence.Prithviraj Sukumaran, Tovino Thomas and Arya will also be appearing in guest roles in the movie. Prithviraj and Tovino will joining the team on the first week of April.Arya’s portions have been planned to be shot in Manali. Details about their characters have not yet been revealed

‘Queen’ fame Saniya Iyappan, Ahaana Krishna, Biju Sopanam and Maala Parvathy are also playing supporting roles in the movie. It’s technical crew mostly comprises of youngsters.Cinematography is handled by Sudeep Elamon while music is by KH Kaashif. Bhuvan Sreenivas is the editor. August Cinema is producing the movie.

We had recently reported about Karthi signing a new film with director Bakkiyaraj Kannan of ‘Remo’ fame. The movie was officially launched today with a formal pooja ceremony. Rashmika Mandanna, one of South Indian cinema’s hot favourites, will be making her Tamil debut with this movie.

According to the makers, this yet to be titled movie will be an action cum family drama with a dose of romance in it. Yogi Babu and Mansoor Ali Khan have also been signed to play crucial roles. SR Prabhu of Dream Warrior Pictures is producing the movie. Vivek-Merwin will be composing the music. Shoot for the movie is scheduled to commence shortly.

As we already know, R Madhavan is starring in the biopic of scientist Nambi Narayanan. The movie titled as ‘Rocketry – The Nambi Effect’ also marks Madhavan’s directorial debut. Shoot for the movie is currently progressing at a brisk pace. Latest buzz is that Shah Rukh Khan and Suriya will be appearing in cameo roles in the movie. While SRK is expected to appear in the Hindi version, Suriya will be reprising the role in Tamil. It is very much possible since Madhavan shares a very good rapport with both the actors. SRK had released the movie’s first look poster through his Twitter handle, while Suriya had openly expressed his wish to be a small part of such a prestigious film.

‘Rocketry’, said to be one of the most challenging films in Madhavan’s career, will have him appearing in multiple looks. For the last few months, the actor had been in the process of putting on weight as they shot his aged portions first. Recently, he had released a video featuring his stunning fat-to-fit transformation in just twelve days.

Initially, Madhavan was supposed to direct the film jointly with Anant Mahadevan but the latter opted out due to some unknown reasons.
Prajesh Sen, a journalist-turned-filmmaker from Kerala, who directed the Jayasurya starrer ‘Captain’, is now part of ‘Rocketry’ team as the co-director. Prajesh had earlier made a documentary on Nambi Narayanan, which was noted widely.

Nambi Narayanan was a cryogenic division head at the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). In 1994, he was falsely charged with espionage and arrested. The charges against him were later dismissed by the CBI and the Supreme Court declared him not guilty. ‘Rocketry’, the movie, has been planned as a multilingual in three languages – Tamil, English and Hindi.
