NGK teaser to be screened alongside Dev

As informed by the makers, the teaser of Suriya’s NGK will be out on February 14, on the occasion of Valentine’s Day. The movie will be screened in theatres playing Karthi’s Dev, which is also releasing on the same day. Since the two brothers are coming together, expectations are on the higher side.While Dev is a stylishly shot rom-com, NGK is an intense political drama.

Directed by Selvaraghavan, NGK has Suriya plays the role of an MLA. Selvaraghavan enjoys a huge fan following and since its his first film with Suriya, hype for the movie is huge. Rakul Preet Singh and Sai Pallavi will be seen as the female leads while Telugu actor Jagapathi Babu plays the villain role. It is expected to hit screens worldwide by May.

‘Dev’ directed by debutant Rajath Ravishankar has Karthi playing an adventure junkie. Rakul Preet Singh is paired with Karthi. It is their second outing together after last year’s superhit film, ‘Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru’. ‘Dev’ also stars Ramya Krishnan, Prakash Raj, Nikki Galrani, Vamsi Krishna, Vignesh and Amrutha in supporting roles. Veteran actor Karthik is also said to be playing a cameo role in the film. All eyes now on February 14.

Jude Anthany Joseph announces his next

Director Jude Anthany Joseph, noted for his films ‘Om Shanthi Oshana’ and ‘Oru Muthassi Gadha’ has been missing from action for some time. After the release his second film, taking a break from director, he forayed into acting and did notable roles in movies like ‘Thoppil Joppan’, ‘Velipadinte Pusthakam’ and ‘Oru Kuttanadan Blog’. Jude is now set to make his comeback as a director as he signed for two projects back to back.

Last year, Jude had announced an ambitious film titled ‘2403 ft’ which is based on the devastating floods that rocked the state of Kerala. While pre-production works for that movie is still progressing, Jude has announced his next. He is teaming up with popular writer GR Indugopan for his new film. However, it is not yet known if they are planning to adapt any of Indugopan’s works.

Murali Dharan and Santha Murali will be producing the movie under the banner of Anantha Vision. More details regarding the cast, crew and when shoot commences will be announced shortly.

The first season of ‘Breathe’ starring R Madhavan and Amit Sadh was a big success. Shoot for the next installment is already halfway. Nithya is thrilled about being part of the project as she feels that there are no compromises in this medium. Down South, the actress also has some exciting projects in the pipeline. Confirmed: Santosh Sivan to wield camera for Rajinikanth’s next

As reported by us earlier, superstar Rajinikanth’s next film will be directed by AR Murugadoss. Though the movie is yet to be officially announced, the director had confirmed the project recently. Also there were speculations about Santosh Sivan cranking the camera. The ace cinematographer confirmed the same with a post in his official social media handle.

Santosh Sivan, one of Indian cinema’s most respected cinematographers, has previously collaborated with director Murugadoss in ‘Thuppakki’ and ‘Spyder’. With Rajinikanth, he has worked in the Mani Ratnam directorial ‘Thalapathi’. The veteran’s frames in ‘Thalapathi’ is celebrated even after two decades of its release. Fans will be hoping to see the recreation of the ‘Thalapathi’ magic.

According to director Murugadoss, his movie with Rajinikanth will be a complete mass entertainer just like how the fans expect. Casting and other pre-production works are on at full swing. Anirudh Ravichander is the front runner for music director. Sun Pictures is most likely to produce this movie. It must be noted that the banner was recently associated with both Rajinikanth and Murugadoss in ‘Petta’ and ‘Sarkar’, respectively.

Actor Kalabhavan Shajohn is all set to wear the director’s hat with a movie titled ‘Brother’s Day’. Prithviraj Sukumaran will be playing the lead role in the movie, which according to him is a complete commercial entertainer. The actor, who recently launched his banner, Prithviraj Productions, will be producing this movie jointly with Listin Stephen’s Magic Frames. It has been planned as a big budget project with an estimated investment of around Rs 15 crores.

Prithviraj has lately been doing lot of experimental films. ‘Brother’s Day’ will be a refreshing change, as it is a full-on mass entertainer with all necessary commercial elements in it. He has pinned high hopes on the movie and firmly believes that Shajohn will make a good filmmaker. Shajohn had approached Prithviraj with the script two years back to get an idea about who will be apt to direct it. Impressed by the script and the detailing in it, the actor asked Shajohn himself to direct it.

Prithviraj is currently shooting in Jordan for Blessy’s ‘Aadujeevitham’. He is expected to start shooting for ‘Brother’s Day’ soon after he returns back. Meanwhile, his latest release ‘9’ is doing well at the box office. The movie has also found support from the critics who appreciated the team for their daring attempt. The Jenuse Mohamed directorial belongs to a genre that has never before been attempted in Malayalam cinema.

We were among the first to report about Kalias Jayaram committing for a film with writer-director couple Sudip Joshy and his wife Geethika Sudip. The duo is making their directorial debut with a new movie titled as ‘Happy Sardar’. Interestingly, Kalidas will be playing a Punjabi sardarji in the film. His character is named Happy Singh.

Along with Kalidas, the movie will also have Bollywood actor Javed Jaffrey in a major role. His last notable role in Malayalam was in the Major Ravi directorial ‘Picket 43’. ‘Happy Sardar’ is reportedly a fun entertainer with a love story between a Sardar and a Malayali Christian girl at its core. The movie has a very elaborate supporting cast comprising of Siddique, Sreenath Bhasi, Balu Varghese, Shanthi Krishna and Suraj Venjaramoodu, ‘Aanandam’ fame Siddhi Mahajankatti, Vishak Nair, Ramesh Pisharody, Dharmajan, Praveenaa and Baiju.

On the technical front, cinematography will be handled by Abhinandam Ramanujam, noted for his works like ‘Amen’, ‘Mosayile Kuthira Meenukal’ and the recently released ‘9’. Gopi Sunder is in charge of the music department and Shameer Muhammed has been signed as the editor. Haseen Haneef is producing the movie under the bannef of Achicha Films.

Kalidas meanwhile is awaiting the release of two of his films – ‘Mr and Mrs Rowdy’ and ‘Argentina Fans Kattoorkadavu’. The former directed by Jeethu Joseph is a comedy entertainer which is scheduled for release on February 22nd. ‘Argentina Fans’ directed by Midhun Manuel Thomas is expected to hit screens during Vishu season in April.

Mammootty’s Telugu film ‘Yatra’ has opened to positive reports from all corners. The movie has also taken a good start at the worldwide box office. In Kerala, the Malayalam version has also been released jn selected centres. Written and directed by Mahi V Raghav, the movie is based on the late Andhra Pradeesh Chief Minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy aka YSR’s historical three-month-long padayatra. It was a changing point in his political career which propelled his image as the people’s leader.

Mammootty’s performance as YSR has widely been appreciated. The actor has tried not to mimic but play the character in his own style. His Telugu dialogue presentation has also found appreciation. YSR’s followers have all been highly impressed by how Mammootty played their leader’s role.

Tovino Thomas’ kitty is full with some very interesting projects. One of those is reportedly a fun entertainer directed by Jeo Baby. The movie will be officially launched today with a title announcement through superstar Mohanlal’s social media handle. The title poster will be out online today at 6 PM.

Director Jeo Baby has previously helmed critically acclaimed films like ‘2 Penkuttikal’ and ‘Kunju Daivam’. This upcoming movie with Tovino was initially said to be titled as ‘Kilometers and Kilometers’, but we still await for an official confirmation. Last year, during the release time of ‘Theevandi’, Tovino had shot brief portions for this movie in Diu and Daman.

Director Jeo Baby has co-scripted the movie with Deepu Pradeep, the writer of ‘Kunjiramayanam’. According to Tovino, it is a humour based entertainer with a strong content. If reports are to be believed, the movie has a foreign actress to play the female lead. It is tipped to be an unique love story. The lead lady of this movie is someone who arrives from the US to visit India. Tovino will be seen as a ‘naadan’ youth who upholds his family values.

Mammootty starrer ‘Peranbu’ continues to get excellent response from the audience, particularly in Kerala. The movie has found widespread critical appreciation for director Ram’s poignant storytelling style and the superlative performances of its two lead actors – Mammootty and Sadhana. As the affectionate father and his spastic girl child, the two were so fabulously real on screen.

Recently, Sadhana and family visited Mammootty at his home in Kochi. Photos taken with Mammootty and his son Dulquer Salmaan are currently doing the rounds in social medias. Mahavir Karna shoot begins with Kurukshetra battle sequence

‘Mahavir Karna’, the mega-budget film starring Vikram went on floors recently in Ramoji Rao Film City. RS Vimal of ‘Ennu Ninte Moideen’ fame is directing the film which is based on the mythological figure Karnan. The makers kick-started the shoot by filming the Kurukshetra battle sequence. The epic battle, one of the highlight portions in the movie, will be around 30 minutes of duration. For the Kurukshetra sequence, the art department had built a giant 30-feet-long chariot, which can accommodate up to 1000 people. An 18-day long schedule has been planned to shoot these portions.

Vikram is sporting a beefed up look in this schedule. The actor, who is well known for the hardwork and efforts he puts in to get into the skin of a character, has developed a ripped muscular physique for playing Karna. Besides that, he has also trained in horse riding and riding and other related activities.

According to director RS Vimal, the movie will be a retelling of the Mahabharata from Karnan’s point of view. The makers have planned a grand launch event where the cast and crew details will be officially announced. It is being widely reported that several top stars and technicians from Indian cinema and Hollywood are part of the movie.

‘Mahavir Karna’ is a huge project planned to be made on an estimated budget of Rs 300 crores. A New York based production house United Film Kingdom is backing this film, which is being made as a bilingual in Hindi and Tamil. It will later be dubbed to other languages.
