Aju Varghese to play the lead in Sunny Leone’s debut Malayalam film ‘Rangeela’?

As we had reported earlier, Sunny Leone is making her Malayalam debut with a film titled ‘Rangeela’. The movie is to be directed by Santhosh Nair. As per latest reports, Aju Varghese will be playing the male lead in this upcoming movie. Though the makers are yet to make an official announcement, it is said that the movie will be a complete fun entertainer.

Along with Aju and Sunny, the movie will also have Suraj Venjaramoodu and Salim Kumar in major roles. The makers are planning to shoot in various locations across the country. Jayalal Menon of Backwater Studio is producing the movie jointly with Fairytale Productions. It will be distributed by One World Entertainments.

Director Santhosh Nair has previously helmed the Fahadh Faasil starrer ‘Money Ratnam’. He is also directing the upcoming movie ‘Sachin’, which has Dhyan Sreenivasan and ‘Angamaly Diaries’ fame Anna Reshma in the lead roles. Details regarding when ‘Rangeela’ starts rolling will be revealed shortly.

‘Angamaly Diaries’ fame Anna Rajan joins Mammootty’s Madura Raja

Shoot for Mammootty’s highly anticipated film, ‘Madura Raja’, which is a spin-off of Mammootty’s character from his blockbuster film, ‘Pokkiri Raja’, is progressing at a brisk pace. The movie is being directed by Vysakh, who helmed the 2010 film as well. Udhayakrishna, who last teamed up with the director for the mega blockbuster ‘Pulimurugan’, is scripting ‘Madura Raja’. The movie touted to be the most expensive project in Mammootty’s career, is bankrolled by debutant producer Nelson Ipe.

Madura Raja has a massive star cast and latest to join the team is Anna Rajan of ‘Angamaly Diaries’ fame. The actor joined the sets only recently. An elated Anna shared a photo taken with director Vysakh from the movie’s sets in her official social media handle. The makers had earlier announced that the movie will have three female leads in Anusree, Shamna Kasim and Mahima Nambiar. It remains to be seen if Anna has replaced any of them.

It is worth a mention that Anna was subject to social media bullying by Mammootty fans after she expressed her wish to act as the star’s daughter. She was trolled severely in the cyber space with heavy abuse before Mammootty himself called her and lent her support. We will have to wait and see what role she is playing in ‘Madura Raja’.

Mammootty’s Yatra to be released in over 1200 screens across the world

As we already know, Mammootty is playing the lead in the biopic of late Andhra Pradesh Chief Minsiter YSR. The movie titled as ‘Yatra’ is being directed by Mahi V Raghav. Shoot for the movie was wrapped up recently and the makers are currently busy with the post-production works. The movie has been planned for a grand release on December 21. As per latest reports, it will be released in over 1200 screens across the world. The movie will have its US premiere on December 20.

YS Rajasekhara Reddy aka YSR is one of the most popular and revered politicians that the state of Andhra Pradesh has ever seen. He is still regarded as a people’s leader and respected by millions. ‘Yatra’ team is hoping to make the film as a fitting tribute to the iconic leader. Unlike other regular biopics, ‘Yatra’ is an event based film. It primarily focuses on the time during YSR’s famous three-month-long padayatra in 2003, which was a changing point in his political career.

Apart from Mammootty, the movie also stars Rao Ramesh, Anasuya Bharadwaj, Suhasini Mani Ratnam, Posani Krishna Murali, Vinod Kumar and Sachin Khedekar. Its technical crew includes cinematographer Sathyan Sooryan of ‘Theeran Adhigaram Ondru’ fame and composer K. Vijay Chilla and Shashi Devi Reddy are jointly producing the movie under their banner of 70MM Entertainments.

Confirmed: It’s Petta vs Viswasam this Pongal!

As we had reported recently, Kollywood is set to witness a massive box office clash this coming Pongal. The face-off is between superstar Rajinikanth’s Petta and Ajith’s Viswasam. Traditionally, Tamil cinema industry has relied heavily on the Pongal season as the long holiday period ensures great business at the box office. The slot is normally reserved for big star films but on rare occasions, two biggies have clashed. Viswasam was announced as a Pongal release long back but Petta team announced their release only a couple of days back.

Although there were reports about ‘Viswasam’ pulling out of the race, the makers have now confirming that they are going ahead. They are confident that Ajith will be able to draw big crowd as always. Distributors have also expressed their their willingness to accommodate both the films. As per reports, ‘Petta’ will be hitting screens on January 10, while ‘Viswasam’ will be releasing on Jan 15.

‘Viswasam’ is a regular commercial entertainer directed by Siva. Ajith reportedly plays a dual role in the movie that has Nayanthara as the female lead. ‘Petta’ is a multi-starrer directed by Karthik Subbaraj. Apart from Rajinikanth, the movie boasts of a stellar star cast comprising of Vijay Sethupathi, Trisha, Simran, Sasikumar, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Bobby Simha and Malavika Mohanan.

Joju George’s ‘Joseph’ releasing tomorrow amidst high expectations

As we already know, Joju George is is making his debut as a lead actor with an upcoming movie titled, ‘Joseph’. The movie is all set to hit screens tomorrow (November 16). Expectations are on the higher side for the movie after its intriguing teaser and good songs. The movie is directed by M Padmakumar, who is well known for his films like ‘Vargam’, ‘Vasthavam’ and ‘Shikkar’. The director’s last few films failed to click at the box office, so his strong comeback is also on cards.

‘Joseph’ has Joju in the role of a retired police officer. The movie is scripted by Shahi Kabir, a police officer in real-life. The movie comes with an interesting tagline, ‘Man with the scar’, from which we presume that it deals with some dark chapters in a policeman’s life.
Lately, Joju has mostly been doing performance-oriented roles and ‘Joseph’ is expected to be his career-best.

The movie also stars Dileesh Pothan, Irshad, Anil Murali, Madhuri, Malavika, Jaffer Idukki, Sudhi Koppa, Idavela Babu and Athmiya in supporting roles. It also has a solid technical crew. Manesh Madhavan, who won the Kerala State award last year for his work in ‘Aeden’, is the DOP while Kiran Das of ‘Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum’ fame handes the edits. Ranjin Raj is composing the songs and Anil Johnson is handling the background score.

Joju himself is producing the movie under his own banner.

Official: Pa Ranjith all set to make his Bollywood debut!

Pa Ranjith is one of the most promising filmmakers in Kollywood at present. The director who is well known for his films like ‘Madras’, ‘Kaala’ and ‘Kabali’ is all set to foray into B-Town. He is making his Hindi debut with a movie based on the life of tribal freedom fighter Birsa Munda. Shareen Mantri of Namah Pictures will be producing the movie. The same banner also produced Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi’s Mumbai-set film, ‘Beyond The Clouds’.

The official announcement was made by trade analyst Taran Adarsh through his official Twitter handle. He has tweeted,

#Kabali and #Kaala director Pa. Ranjith to direct a #Hindi film based on the life of tribal freedom fighter Birsa Munda… Shareen Mantri of Namah Pictures, the makers of #BeyondTheClouds, will produce the project… Cast is not finalised yet.

Birsa Munda was an Indian tribal freedom fighter, religious leader, and folk hero who belonged to the Munda tribe. He spearheaded an Indian tribal religious movement in the tribal areas of modern-day Bihar and Jharkhand in the late 19th century, during the British rule. He is one of the most important figures in the Indian independence movement.

Interestingly, Gopi Nainar of ‘Aramm’ fame had also announced a movie based on Birsa Munda’s life. Pa Ranjith’s movie is expected to go on floors early next year. Stay tuned for more updates.

‘Ladoo’ starring Vinay Forrt, Shabareesh Varma and Balu Varghese is all set for release tomorrow (November 16). The movie directed by debutant Arun George K David promises to be a youthful entertainer. According to the director, the movie is a fun thriller with all necessary ingredients of a rom-com. Ladoo has a cheerful storyline that revolves around a day’s happenings. A group of friends are on their way to a registrar’s office on their van and the journey changes the course of their lives.

Sagar Satyyan has scripted the movie that has Vinay Forrt playing the groom’s character while Balu Varghese and Shabareesh Varma will be seen as his friends. Newbie Gayathri Ashok is the female lead. National award winning Tamil actor Bobby Simha is essaying a crucial cameo role in the movie. Dileesh Pothan, Manoj Guinness and Saju Navodaya are also part of the supporting cast.

The major attraction in ‘Ladoo’ is its music by Rajesh Murugesan of ‘Premam’ and ‘Neram’ fame. The movie’s technical crew also includes DOP Gautham Sankar of ‘Theevandi’ fame and editor Lal Krishnan. S Vinod Kumar is producing the movie under the banner of Mini Studio. The movie will be releasing in around 120 screens abroad Kerala.

Last day, the trailer of Anusree starrer ‘Autorsha’ was released by superstar Mohanlal through his official social media handle. The movie directed by cinematographer-turned-filmmaker Sujith Vaassudev follows the life of auto drivers and Anusree also plays one in the film. The actress had to learn how to drive an auto for the movie and the efforts are there to be seen as she looks very convincing in the trailer.

‘Autorsha’ is scripted by Jayaraj Mithra. Rahul Madhav, Tini Tom, Naseer Sankranthi, Sankar Induchoodan, Amar Vikas and Dr Amar Ramachandran are part of the cast. The movie also stars a bunch of newcomers and some real life auto drivers from Kannur. From the trailer, it looks like a comedy entertainer that explores the life of a woman auto driver.

Director Sujith himself has cranked the camera. Johnkutty is the editor and songs are composed by veteran Sharreth. Background score is handled by Sejo John. Mohandas Damodaran, Sujith Vaassudev and Lenin Varghese are jointly funding the movie under the banner of MD Media and Larva Club. Director Lal Jose’s LJ Films will be releasing the movie in Kerala. It is all set to hit screens on November 23.

Last day, a new teaser of ‘Ottakkoru Kaamukan’ was released in social medias. The teaser features Abhirami and Joju George from a comedy in the movie. Newcomers Ajinlal and Jayan Vannery are directing the movie. Scripted by SK Sudheesh and Sreesh Kumar S, the movie promises to be a fun-filled family entertainer.

Ottakkoru Kaamukan has an elaborate supporting cast comprising of Shine Tom Chacko, Bhagath Manuel, Vijayaraghavan, Kalabhavan Shajon, Balachandran Chullikkadu, Chembil Ashokan, Manu M Lal, Shaheen Sidhique, Tosh Christy, Sreejith Kottarakkara, Sanjay Pal, Arundhathi Nair, Nimmi Emmanuel and Meera Nair.
