As we had reported earlier, Kunchacko Boban is teaming up with director Marthandan for a new movie titled ‘Johny Johny Yes Appa’. The movie scripted by Joji Thomas of ‘Vellimoonga’ fame is a fun filled family entertainer. Last day, the makers had released a new poster of the movie featuring Mamta Mohandas. This is her second outing with Kunchacko after Race, which was released back in 2011.

According to the makers, Mamta has a very important character in the movie. Her character is the heart and soul of the film as she is the one who ties all other roles. Director Marthandan is known for his films like ‘Deivathinte Swantham Cleetus’, ‘Acha Din’ and ‘Pavada’. ‘Johny Johny Yes Appa’ is also expected to be on similar lines to his earlier works.

Besides Mamta, the movie also has another female lead in Anu Sithara. Tini Tom, Sharafudheen, Kalabhavan Shajon, Vijayaraghavan, Master Sanoop and Geeta are also part of the cast. In the technical crew, Vinod Illampally cranks the camera and Shaan Rahman handles the music department. Vaishaka Rajan is producing the movie under the banner of Vaishaka Films.

National award winning filmmaker Thiagarajan Kumararaja’s Super Deluxe is a highly anticipated movie. Tamil cinema are eagerly looking forward to the movie as the director’s debut film, Aaranya Kaandam was a cult-hit. He is making a comeback after an eight year long gap and expectations are naturally high. Super Deluxe is an anthology film with an ensemble star cast. The movie has Fahadh Faasil, Vijay Sethupathi, Samantha, Mysskin and Ramya Krishnan in major roles.

All the actors have pinned high hopes on the movie. Samantha, Fahadh Faasil and Vijay Sethupathi have repeatedly said this in their interviews. Fahadh firmly believes that Super Deluxe will be one of the best films in his career. The actor himself has dubbed in Tamil for his character. Vijay Sethupathi plays the role of a transgender in one of the segments in the movie. Other than that, nothing much is known about the genre or the character details and that itslef has raised the audience’s curiosity.

Super Deluxe has some of the finest talents of South Indian cinema working in it. Directors Mysskin and Nalan Kumarasamy are penning the movie’s dialogues. PS Vinod, noted for his work in several hit Bollywood movies, is the cinematographer and Yuvan Shankar Raja handles the music department. The movie is expected to hit screens sometime by the end of this year itself.

Fahadh Faasil is currently on a high with the success of his latest release, ‘Varathan’. The Amal Neerad directorial has emerged as one of the biggest commercial hits of the year. Fahadh had to opt out of a couple of big projects in Tamil for doing Varathan. It was a big risk but the actor’s conviction has been proved right. Among the projects he could not take up include Karthik Subbaraj’s ‘Petta’ and Mani Ratnam’s multi-starrer ‘Chekka Chivantha Vaananm’ (CCV).

Though CCV’s case was familiar, not many know that Fahadh had also declined an offer to act with superstar Rajinikanth. In a recent interview, the actor revealed that he couldn’t take up the project due to his date issues. At the time he was busy shooting for ‘Varathan’. ‘Petta’ is one of the most awaited Tamil movies in recent years. Along with Rajinikanth, the movie has a massive star cast that includes actors like Vijay Sethupathi, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Bobby Simha, Simran, Trisha, Malavika Mohanan, Sasikumar and Megha Akash. It is still not known who replaced Fahadh in the film.

Fahadh made his Tamil debut last year with Mohan Raja’s ‘Velaikkaran’. The movie had him playing a grey-shaded role and his performance was widely appreciated. He has another Tamil movie coming up, ‘Super Deluxe’ directed by ‘Aaranya Kaandam’ fame Thiagaraja Kumararaja. The movie also stars Vijay Sethupathi, Samantha, Mysskin and Ramya Krishnan in major roles. Fahadh has pinned high hopes on the movie, as he firmly believes that it will be among the best works in his career so far.

In Malayalam, Fahadh has ‘Njan Malayali’ with Sathyan Anthikad and ‘Trance’ with Anwar Rasheed coming up.

Superstar Rajinikanth is currently busy shooting for ‘Petta’ with director Karthik Subbaraj. The movie which is touted to be a action packet thriller has the veteran actor in two different looks. While the first look had him in stylish beared avatar, the recently released second poster had him in a dhoti-clad avatar with a big handlebar mustache.

Reportedly, Petta has Rajinikanth playing the role of a teacher in a Christian seminary. He has a lesser known gangster like dark past and hence the two different looks. The movie has an huge star cast, probably the biggest in Tamil cinema in recent years. Vijay Sethupathi, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Bobby Simha, Simran, Trisha, Malavika Mohanan, Sasikumar and Megha Akash are playing major roles alongside Rajinikanth. Guru Somasundaram, Munishkanth Ramdoss, Manikandan Achari, Sanath Reddy, Deepak Paramesh and ‘Aadukalam’ Naren are also part of the supporting cast.

Vijay Sethupathi and Nawazuddin are reportedly playing the antagonists. Simran is paired with Rajinikanth. The movie’s technical crew includes National award winning cinematographer Tirru, composer Anirudh, editor Vivek Harshan and action choreographer Peter Hein. The team is currently shooting in Varanasi. Shoot is expected to be wrapped up by the end of this year.

Kalanithi Maran is producing the movie under the banner of Sun Pictures. As per reports, the makers are eyeing a grand release early next year.

Ever since the project was announced, there has been a buzz about Mohanlal playing a politician in it. Apparently, the buzz has turned out to be true and he is not playing just another politician.

Mohanlal’s character in the movie, Chandrakanth Varma, is the Indian Prime Minister. A few leaked stills from the movie’s loctaion confirmed the same. The actor is shooting in a salt and pepper look for the movie. It is said that his character is a grey shaded one. It will be very interesting to sew how Mohanlal essays the role of a PM.
Arya, Boman Irani, Sayyeshaa and Samuthirakani are also part of the cast.

The movie reportedly has Suriya playing the role a high-rank National Security Guard (NSG) officer, who is in charge of the PM’s security. Both Mohanlal and Suriya are currently shooting for the movie in North India. Recently, while shooting in Noida, Suriya had met some reputed NSG officials. He even shared a couple of photos taken with the officials in his social media handle.

Touted to be an action packed thriller, the movie has been planned to be shot in over ten different countries. Abhinandan Ramanujam is wielding the camera and Harris Jayaraj has been signed as the music director. Lyca Productions is funding this big budget movie.

Suresh Divakar of ‘Ivan Maryadharaman’ fame is directing the movie.

Aanakallan is touted to be a murder mystrey with good dose of fun in it. The movie’s trailer was released recently in social medias and met with good response from the viewers. Vijay Sethupathi’s romantic flick ’96’ was slated for release today. The makers had arranged 6 AM early morning shows in a few centres in Chennai. But theater owners canceled the shows after the producer failed to send KDM (Key Delivery Message) to the theaters as financiers who funded the film forced him to settle Rs 4 crore in the last minute. Lead actor Vijay Sethupathi stepped in at the right moment to resolve the issue quickly. The actor personally paid Rs 4 crore to settle the issue.

Interestingly, Vijay Sethupathi got only Rs 1.5 crore as his remuneration for the film and so he paid the rest of the amount from his own pocket to help the producer. As per trade analysts, the actor also waited in front of the lab from early morning to clear all the debts to ensure a timely release. This gesture by Vijay Sethupathi has earned him widespread appreciation from fans as well as the industry insiders.

Meanwhile, 96 has opened to rave reviews. Social medias are abuzz with highly positive talks about the movie. Premkumar has directed the movie which has Trisha paired with Vijay Sethupathi for the first time.
Three days prior to the theatrical release, the makers had organized a special screening for the media persons, who also heaped praise unanimously.
