Aadupuliyattam Review

Aadupuliyattam starred by popular actor Jayaram and directed by Kannan Thamarakkulam had released today all over. This is the second directorial venture of Kannan Thamarakkulam after the Jayaram-Rimi Tomi starrer flick Thinkal Muthal Velli vare which released last year. Dinesh Pallathu had written the screen play of this film based on a 600 year old myth. The film had made news with its grand audio release and it is also the biggest release ever in Jayaram’s career till now. The film is dubbed in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi language as well as per reports. The film also attracted the attention of the audience with its great star cast.

The plot of the film revolves around a 600 year old myth. This horror thriller has Jayaram playing the character named Sathyajith and Ramya Krishnan playing the character named Matangi. The film begins with showing an ancient myth regarding the character Chembakam who gives her life for her husband who is a king. The castle in which she committed suicide later come to known as Chemaka Kotta as her spirit believed to be protecting that castle. A Businessman named Sathyajit played by Jayaram bought that castle and later he had to experience some terrible incidents in his life. The film shows how he resolves it in order to save his family from a terrible fate.

Kannan Thamarakkulam had made a decent come back through his film as his first film was a box office disaster. But Jayaram had kept his faith on this film maker and Kannan had done justice to that faith by delivering a good movie. We can say that as a director he become succeeded in making this movie a technically perfect thrilling cinematic experience. Both the director and writer were succeeded in creating the atmosphere in the plot and that made the audience to connect with the story. Even though it is a horror thriller, they had included all elements to make the audience entertained.

Jayaram’s performance as Sathyajith is the highlight of this film. He had stunned us with heavy look and had given a mass performance. He was too good in action sequences and at the same time kept is innocent acting style intact when it came to emotional scenes. Ramya Krishnan is the other one who had sizzled in this movie. Her character Matangi was a powerful one and she had done a fantastic job. Her energy level was unbelievable as Matangi and that had given life to the whole plot of this film. Sheelu Abraham who played the character named Amala also done a very good job with her performance. Specially in the climax portions, she gave a matured performance as an emotional mother. Ompuri, Baby Akshara Kishore, Sambath, Ramesh Piosharody, Saju Navodaya, Siddique etc also given very good performance.

The technical side was brilliant as well. Jithu Damodar’s DOP was really helped the flick to maintain that thrilling atmosphere in the movie. The horror scenes were shot with great perfection and the lighting was fabulous as well. Ratheesh Vega chipped in with some beautiful songs and the background scoring also used to good effect. Sandeep Nandakumar’s editing was decent as well as the pace of the movie was never really down.

On the whole, Aadupuliyattam is a onetime watchable horror thriller which can satisfy you if you are a fan of such films.
