Suriya 44 Titled “Retro”: Karthik Subbaraj Promises an Action-Packed Gangster Drama
On the joyous occasion of Christmas, the much-anticipated Suriya 44 has officially been titled Retro. Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Karthik Subbaraj, the film marks his first collaboration with the versatile Suriya. Alongside the title reveal, the makers released a captivating teaser, offering a glimpse into the movie’s intriguing world.
The teaser begins with Suriya and Pooja Hegde sharing a tender moment on the ghats of Varanasi, juxtaposed with flashes of Suriya’s turbulent life as a gangster. From intense fight sequences to heartfelt romance, Retro promises a blend of action, love, and drama. The film’s tagline, “Love, Laughter, and War,” hints at an emotional rollercoaster.
Featuring a stellar ensemble cast, including Joju George, Jayaram, Prakash Raj, and Nasser, Retro is produced by Suriya and Jyothika’s 2D Entertainment in collaboration with Stone Bench Films. With music by Santhosh Narayanan and cinematography by Shreyaas Krishna, the film is set for a grand theatrical release in May 2025.
