Driving Licence declared a blockbuster after 20 days of theatrical run!
Prithviraj-Suraj Venjaramoodu starrer ‘Driving Licence’ has been declared a blockbuster after just 20 days of theaterical run. The film has earned around Rs 27 crore from its worldwide run. It is learnt that the Kerala gross so far is Rs 19.40 crore and from Rest of India (RoI) centres its Rs 0.85 crore. The film had done extremely in overseas centres with a gross of Rs 6.8 crore.
Hitting screens on December 20, ‘Driving Licence’ had to compete with other Christmas releases like ‘Prathi Poovankozhi’, ‘My Santa’, ‘Thrissur Pooram’ and ‘Valiya Perunnal’ at the Kerala box office. The film still managed to excel at all the centres courtesy the positive word of mouth right from the first day.
‘Driving Licence’ is directed by Lal Jr and scripted by Sachy. Critics rated the film as a well-made commercial entertainer and praise the performance of its two lead actors – Prithviraj and Suraj Venjaramoodu. The film has a very interesting storyline centred around a film star and his ardent fan, who is a motor vehicle inspector. As circumstances turn out, the two lock horns and they constantly try to outsmart each other. It is their clash of ego and power abuse that take the film forward. Since it is an universal plot, several top stars from other languages are in talks to acquire the remake rights.
