Vedhika and Prakash Raj in major roles in the Kannada remake of Ustad Hotel
Dulquer Salmaan’s blockbuster movie Ustad Hotel is being remade into Kannada as Gowdru Hotel. The movie will be directed by Pon Kumaran.
Debutant Rachan Chandra is playing the lead role in the movie while South Indian actress Vedhika will be reprising Nithya Menen’s role from the original.
Ustad Hotel, written by Anjali Menon and directed by Anwar Rasheed was about a beautiful relationship between a grandfather and grandson. Late actor Tilakan played the grandfather’s role in the movie.
The veteran actor got a special mention in the 2012 National Awards for his wonderful performance in the movie. Ustad Hotel also won the National award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment while Anjali Menon bagged the award for best dialogues.
Prakash Raj is reprising Tilakan’s role in the Kannada version. Speaking to Times Of India, Vedhika had said, “Director Kumar sir is making a few changes to the script to suit Kannada audiences, one of which is that my role is being extended in our version. The crux of Ustad Hotel was the emotional connect between a grandfather and grandson, which will be the major plotline of this film as well, with Prakash Raj playing Thilakan’s role,” she says.
Gowdru Hotel will start rolling in the first week of April and will be shot primarily across locations in Bengaluru and Mysuru. Yuvan Shankar Raja is roped into compose music for this movie.
