Fahadh Faasil, Venu and KU Mohanan: Massive expectations on Carbon!

Fahadh Faasil’s upcoming movie Carbon is a very interesting film in the making. It is cinematographer-turned-filmmaker Venu’s third directorial venture after the widely acclaimed Daya (1998) and Munnariyippu (2013). He has assembled a stellar technical crew for Carbon, which he has also scripted.

KU Mohanan, the cinematographer of Hindi movies like Don, Raees, Talaash etc is making his Malayalam debut with Carbon. Multiple national award winning director-composer Vishal Bhardwaj is handling the music department. This is his second Malayalam film after working previously in Venu’s Daya. Editing is being done by Venu’s wife Beena Paul, who is also a National award winner. The very fact that the director has brought on board such big names itself heightens the expectations about the film.

Fahadh Faasil and Mamta Mohandas are playing the lead roles in the movie and this is their first outing together and it will be interesting to watch their chemistry onscreen. Both the actors are known for their amazing ability to get into the skin of the character, so it certainly will be a treat to watch the actors trying to outperform each other.

Carbon’s supporting cast has a balance of veteran and younger generation of talented actors. It includes Nedumudi Venu, Vijayaraghavan, Ashokan, Lena, Dileesh Pothan, Soubin Shahir, Sharafudheen, Manikandan Achari, Kochu Preman and Guppy fame Master Chetan Lal among others.

Carbon is being produced jointly by Sibi Thottapuram and Navis Xaviour under the banner of Poetry Film House. An official announcement regarding the release date is expected to be made very soon.

Nivin Pauly denies being part of Thala Ajith’s Viswasam!

Recently, rumour mills were abuzz about Nivin Pauly sharing screen space with Tamil star Ajith in his upcoming movie Viswasam. It was reported that director Siva had approached Nivin for doing a major role alongside Ajith. But the Malayali actor has now come out denying the reports. In a recent press conference, the actor was asked about being a part of Viswasam. Nivin said that the reports were fake and that nobody had approached him with an offer.

Viswasam marks Ajith’s fourth film with director Siva after Veeram, Vedhalam and Vivegam. It is said to be a rural commercial entertainer on the lines of Veeram. Siva himself has scripted this movie, pre-production works for which are currently progressing at a rapid pace. Then customary pooja ceremony was held recently in Chennai.

Anushka Shetty is the front runner for the female lead while the names of other cast members are yet to be announced. Yuvan Shankar Raja is the music director and Vetri will be cranking the camera. Sathya Jyothi Films, who funded Vivegam, is producing this upcoming venture as well. Shoot for the movie will be commencing in January and is slated for a grand Diwali release next year.

Meanwhile, Nivin Pauly’s first straight Tamil movie Richie, which wad released last Friday, has opened to mixed reports. The movie directed by debutant Gautham Ramachandran is the official remake of acclaimed Kannada movie Ulidavaru Kandanthe.

Parvathy is going through a magnificent phase in her career. The last couple of years have been great for her career and 2017 was no different. Her only Malayalam release this year, Take Off was a big success; both critically and commercially. Her performance in the movie was widely appreciated and is winning her many accolades.

Parvathy recently bagged the best actor award for her performance in Take Off at the International Film festival (IFFI) 2017. She became the first actor from Malayalam to win the silver peacock in the history of IFFI. She also made her Hindi debut this year with Qarib Qarib Singlle opposite Irrfan Khan.

But when quizzed about her favourite film of the year, the actress immediately said, “Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum”. On why it is her favorite film, Parvathy said, “It is a politically relevant film but not once do we even feel that. I happened to watch it only a couple of months ago. It really blew me away.”

Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum directed by Dileesh Pothan had Fahadh Faasil, Suraj Venjaramoodu and newbie Nimisha Sajayan in the lead roles. Sajeev Pazhoor scripted the movie which is primarily centered around 3-4 characters. The core plot takes off when a newly married couple encounter a thief during a bus journey and are taken to a local police station.

Writer Sajeev Pazhoor and Dileesh Pothan smarty knit a story that discusses the politics of hunger and many other relevant social elements. The most has some hard-hitting dialogues penned by Sajeev and co-writer Syam Pushkaran. Dileesh Pothan’s meticulously detailed film making and the artists’ performance is on par with any international film.

Thondimuthalum emerged as a big commercial success while also garnering overwhelming praise from the critics. It is now being screened at the ongoing International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) under the ‘Malayalam Cinema Today’ category. Parvathy’s Take Off is another film that has been picked in this category.

Fahadh Faasil has had a great year so far by being part of two of the most acclaimed films of the year – Take Off and Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum. His performance in both the movies won him won rave reviews from the critics as well as the common audience. He is looking forward to end the year on a high with his Tamil debut Velaikkaran, slated for a Christmas release.

Fahadh’s next release in Malayalam will be Carbon. The movie directed by veteran cinematographer-turned-filmmaker has Mamta Mohandas playing the female lead. Last day, the makers had released the first look poster of the movie. Another poster featuring Fahadh Faasil showcasing multiple emotions has also been released. The second one is a very intriguing one and has instantly grabbed the attention of the audience.

Fahadh Faasil is playing the role of Sibi, a rustic youth in the movie. It is said to be a very challenging character and our sources close to the unit inform that Fahadh has given yet another spectacular performance. So, that is another reason to wait for this movie.

Velaikkaran is easily the most awaited Tamil film among the upcoming Christmas releases. The movie is directed by Mohan Raja, whose last outing Thani Oruvan was a huge success; both critically and commercially. Velaikkaran has a dream star cast comprising of Sivakarthikeyan, Fahadh Faasil, Nayanthara, Sneha, Prakash Raj and many others. Anirudh Ravichander’s music is another major attraction of the movie.

Last day, the makers of Velaikkaran had released a set making video via YouTube. This 7 minute long video shows the team’s extraordinary efforts to erect a massive set of a slum area. Director Mohan Raja, cinematographer Ramji and art director Muthuraj feature in the video and explain the thought process that has gone behind the set making.

The whole slum area was created on a huge area of seven and a half acres. It took around 55 days for the team to complete the set works. Major portions of the movie is set in the slum and is a character by itself. So, the makers have put in their best of efforts to make it look as authentic as possible.

Velaikkaran is a socially relevant commercial entertainer, similar to the director’s previous film Thani Oruvan. While that film was about medical mafia, Velaikaaran deals with food adulteration and how a slum dweller fights against the corrupt system. The director has dedicated this movie to the working class people.

RD Raja’s 24 AM Studios is funding this big budget movie slated to hit screens worldwide on December 22.

Mammootty’s Tamil movie Peranbu has been under the wraps for a long time now. Works for the movie were completed a while ago but the makers are yet to announce the release date. Acclaimed filmmaker Ram, who has previously made films like Kattradhu Thamizh, Thanga Meengak and Taramani, has directed this movie.

Noted South Indian actress Anjali is playing the female lead in Peranbu. This is her second film with the director and her first opposite Mammootty. In a recent interview, the actress was asked about her experience working with such a big star.

She is quoted saying, “He is a veteran actor and I play a very challenging and important role in the movie. I often used to wonder how he would respond to my acting and that tension was there throughout the movie. I don’t want to say much about my role, but my character in the movie is such that I can’t over emote. It’s all about subtle emotions.”

Meanwhile, Anjali is making her comeback to Malayalam industry after a gap of six long years with Biju Menon’s upcoming movie Rosapoo. Her last appearance in Malayalam was opposite Jayasurya in Payyans, which was released back in 2011. Anjali has pinned high hopes on Rosapoo as her character Rashmi, is a very interesting one that has many shades to it. Her next release will be Balloon, a horror flick in which is paired opposite Jai.

After delivering the highly acclaimed Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum, Dileesh Pothan has been busy with his acting commitments. He has now become an indispensable part in the industry having established himself as a solid supporting actor. Meanwhile, reports were doing the rounds about him directing Shane Nigam in a movie titled Kumbalangi Nights.

However, Dileesh Pothan has now confirmed that the movie is definitely on but he will not be directing it. Kumbalangi Nights will mark the debut of Madhu C Narayanan, an associate of Dileesh and Aashiq Abu. National award winner Syam Pushkaran is scripting this movie.

Another interesting thing about this movie is that the Maheshinte Prathikaram trio of Syam, Dileesh Pothan and Fahadh Faasil are coming together to produce it. More details regarding the genre or other cast and crew members is not yet known.

Shane Nigam is one of the most promising actors in Mollywood currently. He became an audience favorite after his terrific performances in films like Kismath, C/o Saira Banu and the more recent Parava. Riding on the success of these films, he has been signed for several new projects. Prithviraj has completed shooting for the first schedule of Anjali Menon’s upcoming movie which also stars Parvathy and Nazriya in major roles. The team has been shooting in Ooty for over a month now. M Renjith’s Rejaputhra Visual Media is producing this movie in association with Little Films India.

This upcoming movie is special for many reasons; it marks Nazriya’s much awaited comeback to the industry after her marriage with Fahadh Faasil. Prithviraj and Parvathy are teaming up for the third time after Ennu Ninte Moideen and the yet-to-be-released My Story. Anjali Menon is also wearing the director’s hat after a gap of three years.

Anjali Menon has scripted this movie based on relationships and their values. It is said to be a light hearted family entertainer. Nazriya and Prithviraj play siblings in the film. In a recent interview, Prithviraj was asked about his working experience with Nazriya. He said, “Nazirya is like my baby sister. I didn’t know how much I wanted a younger sister until I met her.”

Veteran director Ranjith is playing a significant role as Prithviraj-Nazriya duo’s father in the movie. Hindi actor Atul Kulkarni, Roshan Mathew, Sidharth Menon and Maala Parvathy are also part of the supporting cast.

Songs in the movie are composed by M Jayachandran and Rahul Dixit. Littil Swayamp, noted for his terrific work in Parava, is cranking the camera. After wrapping up the ongoing schedule in Ooty, the team will be shifting to Kerala and later to UAE.

Director Mohan Raja’s latest film Velaikkaran is getting ready for a grand worldwide release this Christmas season. The movie starring Sivakarthikeyan, Fahadh Faasil and Nayanthara in the lead roles is one of the most awaited Tamil films of the year. Last day, the movie was censored with a clean U certificate thereby ensuring a massive opening when it hit screens worldwide on December 22.

The Kerala theatrical rights of Velaikkaran has been bagged by one of Mollywood’s leading banners, E4 Entertainment for a whopping price. As per reports, the rights have been acquired for a whopping price, the highest for a Sivakarthikeyan starrer in Kerala. Obviously the presence of Fahadh Faasil in the cast has proved to be a big booster for the movie in Kerala.

Velaikkaran is Fahadh’s debut movie in Tamil. He is said to be playing a grey shaded role in the movie. He plays Aadhi, an interesting role that has several shades to it. He appears in a full length role alongside Sivakarthikeyan and the actor has dubbed for himself in Tamil. There are different layers to the relationship between the lead characters played by Fahadh and Sivakarthikeyan. It begins as a friendship; there is also a guru-sishya element and it also has a clash of personalities.

Suriya is currently awaiting the release of Thaana Serntha Koottam (TSK), directed by Vignesh Shivan. The movie is currently in the post-production phase and is slated for a grand Pongal release in January. It is already known that his next (Suriya 35) after TSK is with ace filmmaker Selvaraghavan. The movie has high expectations among the audience and is likely to go on floors early next year.

Latest buzz is that Suriya is planning to join hands with KV Anand for the third time after Ayan and Maattrraan. Apparently, the director has come up with a great script for Suriya and the actor has expressed his interest to be part of the project. Discussions are still in the early stages; so an official word has not yet been made.

Reportedly, Maaanagaram fame Lokesh Kanagaraj and Irudhi Suttru fame Sudha Kongara are also in talks with Suriya but nothing has been confirmed as of now. The actor is going through a rough patch of late with Singam 3, his only release this year, flopping at the box office.
