Velaikkaran audio to be launched on December 3

Velaikkaran, directed by Mohan Raja, is one of the most awaited Tamil films of this year. The movie starring Sivakarthikeyan, Fahadh Faasil and Nayanthara in lead roles is gearing up for a grand release this coming Christmas. The makers are organizing a grand audio launch on December 3 in Chennai. Velaikkaran’s music is composed by young sensation Anirudh Ravichander.

Velaikkaran marks Anirudh’s first time collaboration with Mohan Raja. The makers have already two songs – ‘Karuthavellam Kaleejam’ and ‘Iraiva’. Both the songs have emerged as superhits which naturally heightens the expecations for the full music album.

Velaikkaran is director Mohan Raja’s next after the hugely successful Thani Oruvan. This upcoming movie also lies on similar lines of a socially relevant commercial entertainer. While Thani Oruvan was about medical mafia, Velaikaaran discusses about food adulteration and how a slum dweller fights against the corrupt system. The movie marks the debut of Malayalam actor Fahadh Faasil in Tamil cinema.

Fahadh is playing a full length character with grey shades in the movie. Velaikkaran also stars Sneha, Prakash Raj, RJ Balaji, Rohini and Sathish in supporting roles. RD Raja of 24 AM Studios has produced this big ticket film, slated to hit screens worldwide on December 22.

Malayali actress Nayana Anil makes her Tamil debut alongside Amala Paul in Thiruttu Payale 2

Language has never been a barrier for filmmakers when it comes to casting heroines. Malayali actresses have always been favourites in the South especially in Kollywood. From the ages of Shobana and Urvashi to Asin and Nayanthara and more recently Keerthy Suresh, all of them have been able to carve a niche for themselves in the industry.

Following their steps is Nayana Anil, a Thiruvalla native, who is making her Kollywood debut with the upcoming movie Thiruttu Payale 2.
The movie directed by Susi Ganeshan is the successor to his 2006 sleeper hit Thiruttu Payale. Though titled as a second part, this upcoming movie is not a continuation of Thiruttu Payale as it has an entirely different set of actors as part of its cast.

Director Susi Ganeshan is noted for his films like Five Star, Virumbigiren and the Vikram starrer Kanthasamy. He also remade Thiruttu Payale in Hindi as Shortcut Romeo with Neil Nitin Mukesh playing the lead role. His upcoming release Thiruttu Payale 2 has Amala Paul, National award winner Bobby Simha and Prasanna in major roles. Nayana Anil is playing a prominent part in the movie. The debutante actress could not have asked for a better launchpad in Tamil.

Thiruttu Payale 2 is being produced by AGS Entertainment. It gearing up to hit screens on November 30. We wish Nayana Anil and the whole team of Thiruttu Payale 2 the very best and hope that the film fares well at the box office.

Sequel announced for Dulquer Salmaan’s Theevram!

Actor/filmmaker Roopesh Peethambaran made his directorial debut with the Dulquer Salmaan starrer Theevram. An intense revenge thriller, Theevram was critically acclaimed but ended as a mediocre success at the box office. Today marks the fifth anniversary of the movie’s release and director Roopesh Peethambaran has taken this opportunity to announce its sequel.

Roopesh broke the news today through his official Facebook handle. Though the sequel is expected to be on similar lines to Theevram, the director has confirmed that the cast in the second part will be an entirely different one.

Theevram, released in 2012, was dark revenge thriller. It is one of the first Malayalam films to employ the format of reverse screenplay. Roopesh himself scripted the movie where events unfolded in a reverse pattern with two plots, one set in the present and the other about five years back. This technique was seen as a welcoming change in Malayalam cinema and was appreciated by the critics. Hopefully, the director will have something out of the box sequel as well.

Roopesh is currently busy with his acting commitments. After playing the younger part of Mohanlal’s Aadu Thoma in Spadikam, he was away from the industry for a gap of two long decades. He made his comeback in 2012 by directing Theevram. Three years later in 2015, he made his second film You Too Brutus that had Asif Ali, Tovino Thomas and Sreenivasan in lead roles.

Earlier this year, he made his comeback to acting by playing the villain in Tom Emmatty’s campus political drama Oru Mexican Aparatha. His performance as the shrewd KSQ leader was well received. With Theevram 2 announced, looks like Roopesh is planning to focus on acting and filmmaking simultaneously.

Bilal: Second part announced for Mammootty’s Big B

Megastar Mammootty’s 2007 flick Big B is widely regarded as one of the most stylish Malayalam films of all time. The movie marked the directorial debut of Amal Neerad, a noted cinematographer in Bollywood back then. Though Big B was just a mediocre success at the box office, it attained a cult status among the Malayali audience.

Director Amal Neerad has taken everyone by surprise by announcing a second part for the movie. It is not yet known if the second part, titled as Bilal, will be a prequel or sequel to Big B. Soon after Amal Neerad shared the news, Dulquer Salmaan, Sameer Thahir and many other celebrities shared it in their Facebook pages.

Director Amal Neerad himself is producing the movie unded this banner Amal Neerad Productions. A&A release, the distribution company he owns along with director Anwar Rasheed will be presenting the movie. Bialal will go on floors sometime next year.

Big B was a sensational gangster drama featuring Mammootty as Bilal. The movie also had Bala, Manoj K Jayan, Lena, Vinayakan and many others in supporting roles.

Big B was rated as a movie that was technically far ahead of it’s time. Amal Neerad’s slick direction, cinematographer Sameer Thahir’s stunning visuals, Unni R’s dynamic one-liners and Gopi Sunder’s pulsating background score merged hand in hand to deliver an excellent stylish action flick. But above all it was Mammootty’s restrained and subtle performance as the stylish gangster Bilal, that was the USP of the movie. Like others we are also eagerly waiting to watch Bilal back on screen.
