Arjun Reddy fame Shalini Pandey to pair opposite Dulquer Salmaan!!

Shalini Pandey shot to fame with her performance in this year’s sensational Telugu hit Arjun Reddy. Post Arjun Reddy, the pretty actress has been getting a lot of offers and she has already signed for a couple of Tamil films.

She recently started shooting for her debut Tamil movie 100% Kaadhal, in which she shares screen space with composer-turned-actor GV Prakash. It is the official remake of 2012 Telugu movie 100% Love.

As per reports, Shalini Pandey’s second Tamil movie will be with the young Malayali heartthrob Dulquer Salmaan. She has been roped in to play one of the female leads in his upcoming movie to be directed by debutant Ra Karthik. The film is a romantic travelogue in which Dulquer will be sporting multiple looks.

Reportedly, the movie has four female leads and Shalini will be playing one of them. The makers are currently on the look for the other leading ladies. Nazriya Nazim, Parvathy, Nivetha Pethuraj and Enai Noki Paayum Thotta Megha Akash are some of the other names that are doing the rounds. An official announcement about the female leads is still awaited.

Majority of the portions of this upcoming movie is set in North India. The team is currently scouting for suitable locations. It will be shot across the country in locations like Chennai, Coimbatore, Chandigarh and Nainital. George C Williams, noted for his stellar works in movies like Theri, Kaththi and Raja Rani has been roped in as the DOP. Sreekar Prasad is in charge of the edits and music department will be handled by debutant Dheena Dhayalan.

This yet-to-be-titled movie is being produced by Selva Kenanya’s Kenanya Films. The makers are planning to start shooting from December.

2.0’s grand audio launch to be held in Dubai will be the biggest ever event for an Indian movie!

2.0, the much awaited sequel to Rajinikanth’s 2010 blockbuster Enthiran is nearing its completion. The entire shoot for the movie has been wrapped up and the team will soon be heading to Dubai for the grand audio launch. The event will be held on October 27 at Burj Park in Downtown Dubai. The makers have planned it as the biggest ever audio launch function for an Indian movie.

Rajinikanth, Akshay Kumar, Amy Jackson, Shankar and the whole team of 2.0 will be present for the event. Oscar winner AR Rahman, who is composing the songs in 2.0, will also be performing at the event. He will be performing live along with a 125 member symphony orchestra for about 20 minutes.

Director Shankar has invited Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan to be the chief guest. He will most likely be travelling to Dubai to attend the event. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Prime Minister of the UAE and ruler of the Emirate of Dubai is also expected to grace the occasion.

The event will be telecasted live on huge LED Screens in some of the biggest malls in Dubai. Already over 12,000 passes have been issued.Reportedly, the much awaited visuals of the songs will also be screened. Recently, the makers had shot a futuristic robot song in Mumbai which alone cost a whopping Rs 12 crores.

Lyca Productions is investing a mammoth budget of Rs 450 crores, which is the highest for any Indian film currently under production. 2.0 is the sequel of Shankar’s sci-fi film Enthiran released back in 2010. Rajinikanth will be reprising his dual roles of scientist Vaseegaran and robot Chitti in this upcoming movie as well.

Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar is making his South Indian debut by playing the antagonist and Amy Jackson will be seen as a robot. Adil Hussain, Sudhanshu Pandey, Malayali actor Kalabhavan Shajon and Riyaz Khan are also part of the supporting cast.

2.0 is perhaps the most anticipated Indian movie in recent years. Shankar has scripted the movie along with noted writer Jeyamohan. Several leading technicians from overseas are associated with this magnum opus. Inspired by the massive success of Dangal and Baahubali 2, the makers of 2.0 are planning to release the movie in multiple languages. The movie’s official teaser will be released in November and trailer in December. It is slated to hit screens worldwide in January next year.

Vijay’s Diwali release continues to do phenomenal business across all the release centres. The movie had a stupendous 5 day long weekend that helped in a massive opening. It is currently the highest opening day grosser in Tamil Nadu comfortably beating the previous record held by Rajinikanth’s Kabali.

As per trade analysts, Mersal is now placed third in the list of highest grossers in Tamil Nadu. SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2: The Conclusion leads the list followed by superstar Rajinikanth’s 2010 blockbuster Enthiran. Mersal is third followed by Theri, Kabali and Ajith’s Vedhalam.

As per collection reports, Mersal has grossed over Rs 75 crores from the Tamil Nadu box office alone. Overall gross from the Indian market alone is reported to have gone well past the Rs 100 crore mark. Along with that the overseas gross is also estimated to be over Rs 50 crores. That makes it a total of over Rs 150 crores within a week or its theatrical release, which is nothing but an outstanding achievement.

Mersal had to face a lot of issues before and after its release. But nothing seem to have had any sort of impact on the movie’s box office earnings. The movie caught nationwide attention after the ruling BJP demanded removal of scenes that allegedly criticised their schemes.

Mersal is a commercial mass entertainer in which Vijay plays a triple role for the first time in his career. It is a regular revenge story that also has a very relevant social message about the importance of a proper health sector in our country. Atlee along with veteran KV Vijayendra Prasad and Ramana Girivasan has jointly scripted the movie. This big budget film is funded by Thenandal Film Studios.

Pranav Mohanlal’s debut film as a lead actor, Aadhi is one of the most awaited Malayalam movies of the season. Shoot is nearing completion with the final schedule set to start in Eranakulam very soon. This Jeethu Joseph directorial is tipped to an action packed revenge thriller.

As per latest reports, the makers are planning to release movie on Republic day next year. Incidentally, Mohanlal’s mega blockbuster Narasimham also released on the same day 17 years back in 2000. Both the movies are funded by the superstar’s own production house Aashirvad Cinemas. Mohanlal fans will be hoping to see Pranav repeat or even better the massive success of Narasimham.

In Aadhi, Pranav plays a typical urban youth who is into music and dance. At a particular point life takes a tumultuous turn and the rest of the events form an engaging plot. Jagpathi Babu, who played the menacing villain Daddy Girija in Pulimurugan, will be locking horns with Pranav in Aadhi.

The movie has some stylish action sequences choreographed by foreign stunt masters. Apparently, the movie has a lot of riveting chases and action blocks. Prior to the shoot, Pranav had undergone Parkour training in Bangkok for a few months as his character in the movie demands such traits.

Parkour is a form of acrobatic physical training that involves crossing obstacles by running, climbing, jumping, rolling and swinging. Since Pranav used to do gymnastics, skydiving and rock climbing, he has a fluid and flexible body language that helps him to perfom the stunts authentically. This technique has been featured in action scenes in many Hollywood movies like Casino Royale, Bourne Ultimatum, District 13 and Prince of Persia.

Aadhi is said to be a movie which lies on similar lines to Jeethu Joseph’s superhit movie Memories. Anusree, Alamara fame Aditi Ravi, Lena, Siju Wilson, Krishna Shankar Sharafudheen, Tony Luke, Siddique and Nobi are part of the supporting cast. Anil Johnson is composing the music and Ayoob Khan is handling the edits in Aadhi.

Riding on a string of successful films, Tovino Thomas has established himself as a bankable actor. He has some exciting projects in his kitty like Aashiq Abu’s Maradona, Dhanush’s Maari 2 and a couple of films with promising debutant directors. Latest addition to his list of films is ace filmmaker Kamal’s much talked about movie Aami.

This Manju Warrier starrer is the biopic on late writer Madhavikutty aka Kamala Das. The movie also stars Murali Gopy and Anoop Menon in crucial roles. Prithviraj was supposed to play a cameo role in this film but the actor is caught up with his ongoing projects. Tovino has been brought on board to replace Prithviraj. Though it is a brief role, the character reportedly has great importance in the story line. Tovino has some big shoes to step in and it will be interesting to see how he performs.

Shoot for Aami has been progressing in multiple schedules in Kerala, Kolkata and some other parts of North India. The final schedule of shoot will kick-start in November and the makers are planning to release it in December during the Christmas season.

Aami was in the news ever since it was announced. Vidya Balan was initially cast for the titular role but she opted out at the last moment owing to some creative differences with the director. Though there were talks about Vidya walking out due to political pressure, the actress maintained that it was purely on professional reasons.

When it was finally announced that Manju Warrier would be play the lead role, a section of social media users threatened her not to play the role of such a controversial personality. Kamal Das’ life was marred by several controversies. She revolutionized writings with her honest treatment of female sexuality and infused her writing with power and bold themes.

Aami is being produced by P T Rafel and Roban Rocha on a budget of 5 Crores. M Jayachandran and Thoufeeq Quershi are handling the music director. Veteran Sreekar Prasad is the editor and Oscar award winning sound designer Resul Pookkutty is also part of the technical team.

Bharat: After Sultan and Tiger Zinda Hai, Salman Khan to team up with Ali Abbas once again!

Salman Khan is currently awaiting the release of Tiger Zinda Hai, the sequel of his 2012 blockbuster film Ek Thaa Tiger. Ali Abbas Zafar with whom Salman delivered the all time blockbuster Sultan is directing the sequel as well. The duo have now officially announced their next project after Tiger Zinda Hai. Titled as Bharat, this film is an official adaptation of the 2014 Korean movie Ode to My Father.

Bharat is scheduled as Salman Khan’s Eid release for 2019. The movie is slated to go on floors by April next year. Atul Agnihotri willl producing this upcoming big big budget venture, which marks his second time collaboration with Salman after Bodyguard.

The film ‘Ode to My Father’ depicted modern Korean history from the 1950s to the present day through the life of an ordinary man and all major events that occurred in the country. Salman’s Bharat is journey of a country and also a person, both of whom go by the same name. The makers are planning to shoot the movie extensively in Abu Dhabi and Spain, besides Punjab and Delhi in India. The casting process will be on for the next three months.

Salman Khan’s last release Tubelight, which hit scenes earlier this year during the Eid season tanked at the box office. The movie had high expectations as Salman was teaming up with Kabir Khan after the blockbuster Bhajrangi Bhaijaan but it could not live up to that and failed miserably.

Salman fans are now eagerly looking forward to the release of Tiger Zinda Hai. The movie is scheduled as a grand Christmas release. Salman will be reprising his character of RAW agent Tiger and Katrina Kaif is also rejoining him. The movie already has great pre-release hype and is expected to make up for Tubelight’s shocking failure.

Official: Trisha walks out of Vikram’s Saamy 2 aka Saamy Square

The shoot for Saamy Square, the sequel of Vikram’s 2003 superhit movie Saamy commenced last month. Hari, who helmed the first part, is directing the sequel as well. Keerthy Suresh and Trisha were roped in as the female leads. The team had been shooting at a brisk pace but they have now encountered a major jolt as Trisha has opted out of the project.

Trisha took to her Twitter space to inform that she has optee out of the project due to some creative differences. She also wished good luck for the team. Here’s what Trisha has tweeted,

“Due to creative differences,I have chosen to opt out of Saamy 2 . Wishing the team goodluck.”

In Saamy Square, Trisha was supposed to reprise her role from the first part. She had a very meaty role in the first part and her performance was much appreciated. It is not yet clear how Hari will tweak the plot to fill the vaccum that Trisha has left.

Saamy Square promises to be a typical Hari film with the mass masala formula. Vikram reprises his character Aarusaamy, a tough and forthright cop. National award winner Bobby Simha has been roped in to play the antagonist. Prabhu, Delhi Ganesh, John Vijay, Soori and Imman Annachi are also part of the supporting cast.

Priyan is handling the cinematography and Devi Sri Prasad is in charge of the music department. Shoot has been planned in locations all across the country like Tirunelveli, Chennai, Kerala, New Delhi, Noida, Agra, Jaipur, Nainital and Nepal.

Shibu Thameens, who previously produced Vikram’s Irumugan, is funding Saamy Square under the banner of Thameens Films.

Legendary filmmaker IV Sasi passed away on Tuesday morning in Chennai. The director, aged 69, was undergoing treatment in Chennai and the end came at his residence in Saligramam.

IV Sasi has made over 150 Indian films in Malayalam, Tamil and Hindi languages. His wife Seema is a renowned actress who has worked in all South Indian languages.

Some of IV Sasi’s most popular films include Angadi, Mrugaya, Vartha, Devasuram, 1921, Adiyozhukkukal, Uyarangalil etc. The director was planning to helm the biggest project of his career ‘The Wells’ based on the Kuwait war.

The director has left to heavenly abode leaving a great legacy behind.

Udhayakrishna, who is fresh from the historic success of Pulimurugan, has penned this movie.

Besides Mammootty, Masterpiece has an elaborate supporting cast which includes actors like Unni Mukundan, Gokul Suresh, Mahima Nambiar, Poonam Bajwa, Maqbool Salmaan, Mukesh, Kailas, Varalakshmi Sarathkumar, Kalabhavan Shajon, Santhosh Pandit and Salim Kumar among others.

As per the makers, Masterpiece will have all necessary elements that one would seek from a commercial entertainer. Releasing amidst various issues from all quarters, Dileep’s Ramaleela opened to excellent response from the audience. Within a month of its release the movie has already emerged as one of the highest grossing Malayalam movies of the year. The issues related to Dileep’s arrest in the actress assault case has not had any sort of impact on the movie’s box office earnings.

Ramaleela is now all set for a wide release in UK and other European countries. PJ Entertainments is releasing the movie there on October 27. The movie will be screened in London, Ireland, Austria, Malta, Ireland, Switzerland, Italy and many other major centres. This is probably the biggest ever overseas release for a Malayalam movie after Mohanlal’s Pulimurugan.

Ramaleela, directed by debutant Arun Gopy is a political thriller. Sachi has scripted this movie which features Dileep as Ramanunni, a public representative. Prayaga Martin has played the female lead. Senior actors like Raadhika Sarathkumar, Mukesh, Renji Panicker, Siddique, Viayaraghavan, Kalabhavan Shajon and Suresh Krishna are also part of the supporting cast.

Recently, the movie’s pirated links were leaked online through some torrent websites. Within hours of its release, hundreds of users downloaded the movie. However, swift action by the makers with the help of cyber cell officials helped them to take down the links. This big budget movie is funded by Tomichan Mulakupadam’s Mulakupadam Films.
