Mohanlal and Sarathkumar to come together for an action-packed film!

Its been a while since speculations about Mohanlal reuniting with director Bhadran started surfacing online. Recently, it was reported that the director is planning to make a forest-based movie with Mohanlal in which the superstar was said to be playing the role of a mahout. However, the director himself came out dismissing these reports as completely baseless. But he had informed that he will be working with Mohanlal anytime next year.

Apparently, his next with Mohanlal is a road movie which will be shot entirely outside Kerala. Bhadran has scripted this film which according to him is an action-packed film based on some real life events. It will be a complete entertainer with equal doses of romnace, family drama and humour. Tamil actor Sarathkumar and Remya Krishnan will also be playing crucial roles in the movie.

Revealing more about Mohanlal’s character, Bhadran in a recent interview to TOI said, “It’s a powerful It’s a powerful character and like Aadu Thoma in Spadikam, he has a gentle heart and at the same time is a rough and tough guy. He is well versed in Malayalam, Hindi, English and many other languages. He travels a lot and based on the place he is in at a given time, he uses his skills to blend in accordingly.”

Director Bhadran has previously worked with Mohanlal in four films namely Uncle Bun, Spadikam, Olympiyan Anthony Adam and Udayon. Spadikam, released in 1995, is widely regarded as one of Mohanlal’s best films till date. The movie enjoys a enjoys a cult status among the Malayali audience.

Bhadran narrated the script of his upcoming movie to Mohanlal during the shoot of Velipadinte Pusthakam. Impressed by the script, Mohanlal set aside a bulk 100 days for the shoot of this film. Sophia Paul’s Weekend Blockbusters is in talks for production but nothing has been confirmed as of now. It must be noted that Mohanlal’s first release this year, Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol was also produced by the same banner.

Meanwhile, Mohanlal is currently busy shooting for VA Shrikumar Menon’s Odiyan in Palakkad. After its completion, he will be joining the sets of Ajoy Varma’s thriller film, slated to go on floors in December. The superstar also has Priyadarshan’s multilingual mass entertainer, Prithviraj’s directorial debut Lucifer, Joshiy’s family drama, a Shaji Kailas-Renji Panicker movie and the 1000 crore magnum opus Mahabharata in the pipeline.

Rajinikanth congratulates Mersal team for addressing an important topic!

Vijay’s Diwali release Mersal continues to rock the box office during the weekend shows. The movie has shattered several pre-exisiting box office records and is well on course to become one of the all time highest grossers of Tamil cinema. Mersal’s success comes in between its share of problems after the ruling BJP demanded removal of scenes that allegedly criticised their schemes.

Mersal caught nationwide attention after the boycott calls from the BJP. The movie has been getting support from all corners including celebrities and political leaders. Superstar Rajinikanth has taken his Twitter space to congratulate the team on their success. He also appreciated them for addressing a very relevant topic through the film.

Earlier, Kamal Haasan had also extended his support for the movie. Last day, he watched a special screening of Mersal along with Vijay, director Atlee and the producers. Several other actors like Vishal, Sarathkumar, Arvind Swamy, Gauthami, Kushboo, Nagma etc have hit out at the BJP for trying to curtail one’s freedom of expression.

Mersal is a clean commercial mass entertainer in which Vijay plays a triple role for the first time in his career. It is a a regular revenge story that also lets out a very relevant social message about the medical facilities in our country. Atlee along with veteran KV Vijayendra Prasad and Ramana Girivasan have scripted the movie. It is funded by Thenandal Film Studios.

The ‘Baahubali’ man Prabhas is celebrating his 38th birthday today. Wishes are pouring in for the star from his colleagues, fans and well wishers all across the globe. As a birthday treat for his scores of fans, the first look poster of Prabhas’ upcoming movie Saaho was released today by the makers.

Saaho directed by Sujeeth is a big budget film whcih stara a plethora of actors from industries across the country. Following the glorious success of Baahubali, Prabhas has become a nationwide sensation. To cash in on his huge popularity, the makers are planning to release Saaho as a trilingual in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi languages. Vamsi Krishna Reddy and Pramod Uppalapati are jointly funding this film under the banner of UV Creations.

In an attempt to give the movie a pan Indian appeal, the makers have been roped in several noted actors.
Bollywood diva Shraddha Kapoor is playing the female lead. Veteran Bollywood star Jackie Shroff, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Chunky Pandey, Mandira Bedi, Mahesh Manjrekar, Tamil actor Arun Vijay, Lal and Tinnu Anand are playing prominent roles in the movie.

Prabhas sports an extremely stylish look in the movie. After the release of Baahuabli 2: The Conclusion, Prabhas had trimmed down his weight to sport a leaner physique in Saaho. It is a very ambitious project made on a huge scale. International stuntman Kenny Bates, famous for his works in Hollywood films like Die Hard and Transformers has been roped in to choreograph the high octane stunts in Saaho. Renowned cinematographer R Madhie is wielding the camera and the famed trio of Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy is handling the music department.

Saaho will be shot across exotic locales in Romania, Abu Dhabi, Mumbai and Hyderabad. The movie is expected to hit screens by the end of next year.

Kamal Haasan watches Mersal along with Vijay and Atlee

Vijay’s recent release Mersal is the latest talk of the town after BJP called for boycotting the movie alleging that the makers have mocked their schemes. The movie is facing strong pressure from the BJP as well as the doctors union. Inspite of all that, Mersal continues to do phenomenal business across the globe. The movie is reported to have stormed into the 100 crore club in record time.

All of a sudden, Mersal has become hugely popular across the country thanks to the coverage by leading national medias. Many have come out in support of Vijay and Mersal team while also criticising the BJP for questioning one’s right to expression.

Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan, a staunch critic of the BJP government, was the among the first to extend his support to Mersal. He also watched the movie along with Vijay, Atlee and the makers of Mersal in a special screening.

Last day when Kamal had also tweeted about the BJP’s attempts to boycott the film. Here’s what he had tweeted,

“Mersal was certified. Dont re-censor it. Counter criticism with logical response. Dont silence critics. India will shine when it speaks.”

Mersal, scripted jointly by Atlee, KV Vijayendra Prasad and Ramana Girivasan, has a regular revenge story but comes with a very relevant social message about the importance of a proper health sector. The protagonist in the film fights for free medical facilities to all, regardless of their financial background.

In a particular scene in the film, the character played by Vijay compares the standards of health sector in India and Singapore. There is another scene where Vadivelu mocks the digital India scheme and how people had to stand in long queues during the demonetisation period.

Apparently, these scenes have not gone well with the BJP, who demanded to remove it. Celebrities as well as national leaders like Rahul Gandhi, P Chidambaram, Kabil Sibal and Sasi Tharoor came down heavily at the party for trying to curtail the freedom of expression.

Streetlights is Mammootty’s next film in the pipeline. The movie is slated for a November release and the makers are currently busy with the final patch up works. It is a bilingual movie made simultaneously in Tamil and Malayalam. The megastar himself is producing this movie under his banner Playhouse Pictures.

Streetlights marks the directorial debut of cinematographer Shamdat Sainudeen. It is a crime thriller in which Mammootty plays the role of an investigative officer. The first look posters of the movie was released recently in which Mammootty looked stylish as ever. In a recent interview the director assured you that the veteran star will be seen in an absolute stylish look in the film. Fans are already excited after the highly promising first look posters.

Reportedly, Mammootty is very confident about the project. He decided to produce the film after being impressed with the screenplay. The makers have maintained high secrecy about this film which has further raised the curiosity among the audience.

Shamdat is a veteran cameraman who was worked in several films across all four South Indian languages. Some of his notable works include Ritu, Seniors, Uttama Villain. He is also the DOP of Kamal Haasan’s much anticipated Vishwaroopam 2.

Unlike most bilinguals, Shamdat’s directorial debut Streetlights was shot separately in both languages with different set of actors. The Malayalam verison stars Joy Mathew, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Neena Kurup, Lijomol Jose, Sohan Seenulal, Indrans, Sudhi Koppa and Harish Kanaran among others.

Veteran actor Pandiarajan, Prithvi Rajan, Manobala, Black Pandi, Motta Rajendran and some other noted supporting actors feature in the Tamil version. The movie doesn’t have a heroine as such, as it is a tale of many characters.

Newcomer Fawaz Muhammed has scripted the movie. Debutant Adarsh Abraham has composed the songs and Iyobinte Pusthakam fame Yakzan Pereira and Neha Nair are handling the background score and. Director Shamdat’s brother Sadat Sainudeen has cranked the camera.

An official announcement regarding the exact release date is still awaited.
