Mammootty in Anuraga Karikkin Vellam fame Khalid Rahman’s next

Looks like Mammootty is on a signing spree. Like always, he is giving lot of opportunities to youngsters and most of his upcoming movies are with newcomers. He already has multiple projects in his kitty and the latest we hear is that the veteran star has committed for yet another project.

As per latest reports, the megastar will be playing the lead in youngster Khalid Rahman’s next movie. Khalid made an impressive debut last year with the family entertainer Anuraga Karikkin Vellam, which was a big commercial success. A former associate of Anwar Rasheed and Anil Radhakrishnan Menon, Khalid’s maturity in handling a family subject in his debut directorial was widely appreciated by the critics.

Popular filmmaker Anwar Rasheed will be producing Khalid’s movie with Mammootty under his banner Anwar Rasheed Entertainment. More details regarding the project is not yet known.

Meanwhile, Mammootty’s recent release Pullikkaran Staraa continues to do average business in the box office. He has Ajai Vasudev’s Masterpiece and Ram’s Tamil-Malayalam bilingual Peranbu lined up for release.

Cinematographer Shamdat Sainudeen’s debut directorial Streetlights, noted ad filmmaker Sharrath Sandith’s Parole, scriptwriter Sethu’s Kozhithankachan and Shaji Padoor’s Abrahaminte Santhathikal : A Police Story are some of the other projects that Mammootty has signed for.

Ajith and Siva likely to team up for a space film!

Even before the release of Vivegam, director Siva had revealed that he is working on another project with Ajith. Interestingly, latest reports from Kollywood medias suggest that the duo might be teaming up for a space film. If this report is to be believed, then Siva is consciously trying to push the envelope as Vivgeam was a spy-thriller made entirely on international grounds.

Reportedly, Sathya Jyothi Films, the makers of Vivgeam, will also be producing this upcoming movie. Movies dealing with the outer space is still in its early stages in Indian cinema. Jayam Ravi’s Tik Tik Tik is said to be the first Indian space film. Sushant Singh Rajput’s Chanda Mama Door Ke is also a film that deals with space and the movie is currently in production in NASA. It is still not clear whether Ajith and Siva are going ahead with a space movie as the potential of such films have not yet been explored in the domestic market.

Ajith recently underwent a shoulder surgery and has been advised compulsory bed rest for atleast three months. Reports suggest that Ajith’s next movie will go on the floors only by early next year.

Meanwhile, his last outing Vivegam continues to do good business in the box office. Eventhough the initial pull has dimnished, Ajith’s star power has managed to attract good number of audience despite entering the fourth week of theatrical run

Wow!! Vijay Sethupathi in a stunning makeover as a woman!

Vijay Sethupathi is known for his penchant for playing a variety of characters and trying out different looks. The actor has wowed everyone with a stunning new makeover as a woman for his upcoming movie directed by Thyagarajan Kumararaja. A photo of the Vijay Sethupathi in this woman avatar has been released by the makers.

The movie which was earlier named as Aneethi Kathaigal has now undergone a title change. It has now been titled as Super Deluxe. The movie is said to be an one of it’s kind anthology of five different stories. Apart from Vijay Sethupathi, the movie also boasts of a stellar star cast which includes Malayali actor Fahadh Faasil, Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Nadiya Moidu in major roles.

Director Thiagarajan Kumararaja made his debut in 2011 with Aaranya Kaandam for which he bagged a National award. The movie enjoys a cult status among cine-lovers and is considered as one of Indian cinema’s finest movies in recent years.

Expectations are soaring high for Super Deluxe as the movie has some of the finest talents of South Indian cinema working in it. Directors Mysskin and Nalan Kumarasamy are penning the movie’s dialogues. Legendary cinematographer PC Sreeram wielded the camera during the initial few schedules but later opted out due to date issues. PS Vinod, who has worked in several Bollywood movies is now cranking the camera. Yuvan Shankar Raja is handling the music department.

An official word regarding the release date is expected to be made very soon.

Dulquer is a really good performer and I’m excited to be working with him: Ritu Varma

Last day we had reported about Telugu actress Ritu Varma signing for Dulquer Salmaan’s new Tamil movie. Award winning short filmmaker Desingh Periyasamy is making his directorial debut with this yet to be titled movie, which is touted to be a romantic thriller.

Ritu Varma rose to fame with her perfomance in the superhit Telugu movie Pelli Choopulu. Apparently, the actress is thrilled about bagging a chance to work with Dulquer as she revealed it in a recent interview.

“I signed the project recently. Dulquer is a really good performer and I’m excited to be working with him. Although it’s too early to talk about the film or my character, I can say that I’m really looking forward to starting work on this film,” Ritu told IANS.

Ritu Varma is also playing one of the female leads in Gautham Vasudev Menon’s upcoming film Dhruva Natchathiram, which has Chiyaan Vikram in the lead. The last leg of shoot for this high octane spy thriller is currently progressing in Turkey and Ritu is expected to join the team very soon.

Desingh Periyasamy’s movie will be Dulquer’s fourth Tamil movie after Vaayai Moodi Pesavum, OK Kanmani and the yet-to-be released Solo. In this upcoming movie, Dulquer plays Sidharth aka Sid, a happy go lucky guy. The actor known for his penchant for trying different get ups, will be sporting a new look in this movie.

Unlike his previous Tamil films, this movie will have some stylish heroic elements. K M Bhaskar will be cranking the camera for this movie, planned to be shot across Chennai, Goa and Delhi.

Anu Sithara to play the female lead in Ranjith’s next

We had earlier reported about ace filmmaker Ranjith roping in Maniyan Pilla Raju’s son Niranj for his next movie. Noted scenarist Sethu has scripted this movie which will be shot completely in London. Incidentally, this is only the third time that Ranjith will be directing a movie for which he has not written the script.

As per latest reports, Anu Sithara has been brought on board to play the female lead in this movie. The actress rose to fame with her commendable performance in Ranjith Sankar’s Ramante Edanthottam. She was showered with appreciation from critics for her matured performance in the movie. It is not often that heroines get such solid roles in mainstream movies and Anu Sithara ensured that she gave her best. It is still not known whether Anu Sithara will be romancing Niranj in the upcoming Ranjith directorial.

Niranj made his entry to film industry in 2013 with the movie Black Butterflies that was produced by his father. He made his debut as a lead actor only recently with the movie titled Bobby. The youngster won praise for his performance in the movie, where he played the character of a boy who falls in love with an older woman and gets married to her.

Ranjith’s upcoming movie will be produced by Maha Subair under the banner of Varnachitra Big Screen. More details regarding the other cast and crew members is expected to be announce very soon. The movie will start rolling by the end of October.

Dulquer to play a police officer in Anwar Rasheed’s movie

Dulquer Salmaan is probably the most busiest Malayali actor currently. He has a long list of projects lined up in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and also in Hindi. The big news that is coming in is that Dulquer will be teaming up with Anwar Rasheed for a cop story.

Reportedly, Dulquer will be playing a police officer in this movie, which is touted to be the first mass entertainer in his career. Anto Joseph will be producing this movie under his banner Anto Joseph Film Company.

Anwar Rasheed with his midas touch has seen success with all his movies. He has previously worked with Dulquer in the widely acclaimed movie Usthad Hotel. When the blockbuster duo rejoin, expectations are obviously on the higher side. Anwar, meanwhile is busy working on his upcoming movie Trance starring Fahadh Faasil in the lead.

Dulquer has previously played the role of a police man in Lal Jose’s Vikramadithyan but it was just a brief one. Reportedly, he will be playing a full fledeged police character in Anwar Rasheed’s movie.

Earlier, we had reported about Dulquer doing a Kochi-based mass entertainer with debutant Salam Bukhari, who incidentally is an associate to Anwar Rasheed. It is now learnt that the Salam Bhukari’s movie will go on floors only after the Anwar Rasheed project.

Dulquer is presently shooting for his Hindi debut Karwaan, which also stars Irrfan Khan and Mithila Palkar in major roles. His next release will be the Tamil-Malayalam bilingual Solo, scheduled to hit screens on October 5.
