Mammootty’s next release will be Pullikkaran Staraa, which is slated to hit screens during the Onam season. The first song video from this movie was released yesterday. It is a fun song featuring a group of kids with Mammootty also appearing in it along with them. M Jayachandran has composed this song written by Santhosh Varma.

Pullikkaran Staraa directed by 7th Day fame Shyam Dhar looks like a fun filled entertainer. Mammootty is playing the role of an instructor in a teacher training institute in the film. His character Rajakumaran is an Idukki native who comes to Kochi after he lands a job in a government institute. Nee-na fame Deepti Sati and Asha Sharath play the female leads.

Newbie Ratheesh Ravi has scripted this movie. The core plot is centred around the events occurring after Rajakumaran reaches Kochi. Asha Sharath is also playing the role of a teacher in this movie. It’s been a while since the audience were treated to a proper fun entertainer from Mammootty and Pullikkaran Staraa seems to be exactly what the families seek during this Onam season.

Vinod Ilampally has cranked the camera. M Jayachandran is composing the songs and Gopi Sunder is handling the background score. B Rakesh is producing this movie under the banner of Universal Cinemas.

Dhanush names Vijay and Rajinikanth as the best actors with great sense of humour

Dhanush’s much awaited VIP 2 was released yesterday and has opened to mixed reports. The movie, directed by Soundarya Rajinikanth is the sequel to the 2013 superhit action-comedy entertainer Velai Illa Pattadhari aka VIP.

Last day, Dhanush and the VIP team appeared on Facebook live as part of promotions. He answered many queries and interesting questions shot by his followers. One of them asked Dhanush to name an actor who he thinks has great sense of humour. The actor instantly replied,

“Without any biased opinions, I can openly say, it would be Rajini sir and Vijay sir. Both of them have a superb sense of humour and they perform the comedy scenes very effortlessly.”

Dhanush, like Vijay and Rajinikanth, is another actor who is really good with handling humour. His wonderful comic timing in VIP was the USP of the movie. During the chat he also revealed about his plsn to continue the VIP franchise. He is planning to start the third part by the end of next year and release it in 2019.

The actor presently has several projects stacked in his kitty. He recently wrapped up the shoot for his debut Hollywood movie The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir. He will soon be resuming works on Gautham Menon’s Enai Nokki Paayum Thota and later move on to Maari 2. Vetrimaran’s Vada Chennai and an untitled film with Hindi filmmaker Aanand L Rai is also in the pipeline.

Sunny Wayne to play a prominent role in Nivin Pauly’s Kayamkulam Kochunni

It is already known that Nivin Pauly is playing Kayamkulam Kochunni in ace filmmaker Rosshan Andrrews’ movie based on the legendary thief. National award winning duo Bobby and Sanjay are scripting this film which is all set to go on floors this September.

According to latest reports, promising young actor Sunny Wayne has been roped in to play a pivotal part in the movie. This will be his second film with Nivin Pauly after he did a cameo role in the latter’s rom-com Thattathin Marayathu.

Sunny Wayne’s role in the upcoming movie has not yet been revealed but there are unconfirmed reports about him playing a close aid to Kochunni.

The movie will explore several unknown aspects of Kochunni’s life from how he turned into a rebel to his lesser known love life. Popular South Indian actress Amala Paul is essaying the female lead. Recently, the makers had released Nivin’s character look in the film. He would be undergoing a complete makeover along with training in Kalaripayattu for playing the role of Kochunni.

Bobby and Sanjay scripted the movie after doing extensive research for around two years. The team will be shooting majority of the portions in Sri Lanka.

Some renowned technicians like Bollywood cinematographer Binod Pradhan, sound designer PM Satheesh and Firefly Creative Studio, who handled the VFX in films like Baahubali and Enthiran, are part of this project.

Kayamkulam Kochunni is a big budget venture produced by Gokulam Gopalan of Sri Gokulam Films. They are eyeing to release the movie by March next year.

We had earlier reported about Santhosh Pandit being a part of Mammootty’s upcoming movie Masterpiece. Shoot for the movie directed by Rajadhiraja fame Ajai Vasudev is currently in the final stages. Udhayakrishna, fresh from the success of Pulimurugan, has scripted this movie.

Masterpiece is Santhosh Pandit’s first film outside his direction. He recently shared photos with Mammootty from the sets of Masterpiece in his official Facebook page. Santhosh, earlier in an interview had shared how Mammootty was very supportive and respectful of his work.

The megastar had even wished best of luck for Santhosh on the first day of shoot. Reportedly, Santhosh Pandit is playing a full fledged role in the movie. He has been shooting for almost two months for the film and will have many combination scenes with Mammootty.

Masterpiece is a campus thriller in which Mammootty will be seen in the role of professor Edward Livingston aka Eddy. Unni Mukundan, Kasaba fame Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Gokul Suresh, Mahima Nambiar, Poonam Bajwa, Maqbool Salmaan and Mukesh are also part of the cast. Royal Cinemas owned by CH Muhammed is funding this movie. The makers are eyeing to release the movie for the Pooja holidays.

Prithviraj’s next release is Adam Joan, the directorial debut of scenarist Jinu Abraham. The first song video from the movie was released via Malayalam Muzik 247’s YouTube channel today. Deepak Dev has composed this beautiful romantic track sung by Karthik and BK Hari Narayanan has penned the lyrics.

The video largely features Prithviraj and lead actress Mishti Chakraborty in it. It shows their love life and subsequent marriage.

Adam Joan is a revenge thriller in which Prithviraj plays the titular role. The movie stars Bhavana, Rahul Madhav and Narain in major roles. Director Jinu Abraham has earlier scripted for two Prithviraj films; Masters and London Bridge. Adam Joan will have Prithviraj playing a high range planter who manages his family business and properties after his father passes away.

Major portions of the movie is shot in Scotland. Narain is playing the role of Cyriac, his friend from college. Veteran actor Siddique, Lena, Jaya Menon and Baby Abida Hussain, who played Akshay Kumar’s daughter in Airlift, are also part of the cast.

Adam Joan is being produced by Brijeesh Mohamed, Josemon Simon and Nihal. Renji Panicker will be presenting this movie under his banner Renji Panicker Entertainment.

Karan Johar unveils the latest teaser of Dulquer Salmaan’s Solo

The official teaser of Dulquer Salmaan’s Solo was released today evening. The teaser was unveiled by Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar via his Twitter page. Dulquer and Karan Johar share a very good rapport personally as well as on the professional front. Earlier this year, during the release of OK Jaanu, the Hindi remake of OK Kanmani, Karan Johar had spoken highly about Dulquer Salmaan’s perfomance in the original.

Solo, directed by Bejoy Nambiar is a Tamil-Malayalam bilingual movie. It is an anthology of four stories and Dulquer plays four different protagonists. The 81 second teaser which was released today was about one of his characters Lt Colonel Rudra Ramachandran.

Dulquer fits the bill perfectly as an army man with his thick moustache and military cut. The teaser is a very intense one with prominence to some romantic and emotional moments. Neha Iyer, Dino Morea, Suhasini Mani Ratnam, Nasser and Deepti Sati feature in it.

Mersal’s song has been trending on top in Twitter and Google for a while now. It has alreay been mentioned over 1 million times in Twitter. Google India has now put out a very interesting tweet about the movie. Here’s what they have tweeted,

Bejoy Nambiar’s Tamil-Malayalam movie Solo starring Dulquer Salmaan is one of the most awaited films of the season. Last day we had reported about Dulquer Salmaan gearing up to enter the world of Bollywood. The young sensation will make his Hindi debut alongside ace actor Irrfan Khan and Mithila Palkar in an upcoming light hearted entertainer. The movie will mark the directorial debut of noted actor/theatre personality Akarsh Khurana.

This yet-to-be-titled movie is being funded by Ronnie Screwvala under his banner. Reportedly, the makers had initially approached Abhishek Bachchan for playing Dulquer’s part but he pulled out due to date issues. Eventually, the role reached Dulquer who grabbed it gleefully with both his hands.

In a recent interview to TOI, director Akarsh Khurana revealed the reason behind casting Dulquer for his debut movie. He is quoted saying, “I have been following Dulquer for a while after Mani Ratnam’s O Kadhal Kanmani. And I really loved his movie, Charlie. He has showcased a fantabulous performance in it. Then I watched his movies, Bangalore days, Kammattipaadam and so on…He is the perfect cast for the movie.”

This upcoming movie is a fun entertainer in which Dulquer will be seen as a Bengaluru based guy. His character is a sweet yet serious kind of person.

It is a slice of life kind movie with realistic comedy. As per the director, the characters of Irfan Khan, Mithila Palkar and Dulquer are from different walks of life who come together at one juncture of their lives. Interestingly, there is no romantic interest for Dulquer’s character in the movie.

According to trustworthy reports, the movie will be shot majorly in Kerala. The crew members have been camping in Kochi for over two weeks now for the pre-production works. Dulquer meanwhile is awaiting the release of two of his movies – Bejoy Nambiar’s Tamil-Malayalam bilingual Solo and Soubin Shahir’s Parava, both scheduled to release in September during the Onam season.
