Double delight for Vijay fans; Mersal teaser and audio to be released on the same day

Shoot for Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s Mersal is expected to be wrapped up tomorrow and the team will soon be entering the post production stage. This Atlee directorial is highly anticipated by the audience, especially Vijay fans, since the director is teaming up with Vijay after the massive success of Theri. AR Rahman is scoring music for this movie, produced by Sri Thenandal Films.

The team had recently announced that a grand audio launch will be held on August 20. According to latest reports, the movie’s teaser will also be unveiled during the function. Since Mersal is the 100th film of Sri Thenandral Films, they are organizing a posh launch event. Several celebrities from Kollywood are expected to grace the event.

Oscar Award winner AR Rahman is composing tunes for a Vijay starrer after 10 long years and naturally expectations are sky high among the listeners. Also, its been a while since Rahman has worked on a pucca commercial movie. So it will be refreshing to listen to some mass numbers from the maestro.

Vijay films’ teasers have always been well received by the audience. His loyal fan base which extends across states are eagerly looking forward to see Vijay in a triple role. He is playing a triple role for the first time in his career. Nithya Menen, Kajal Agarwal and Samantha Ruth Prabhu will be seen as the female leads.

Recently, the Kerala distribution rights for Mersal was bagged by Global United Media Company for a whopping price. It is said to be the highest ever for a Vijay film in Kerala. Mersal already has a tremendous pre-release hype.

To cash in on the increasing popularity of Vijay in the Telugu speaking states, the makers are also dubbing the movie and the Telugu version has been titled as Adirindhi. Baahubali writer KV Vijayendra Prasad and Ramana Girivasan have helmed the film’s screenwriting. The movie is scheduled to hit screens worldwide in October, for this year’s Diwali.

Anjali Menon, who is one of the most promising filmmakers around, had a very low profile after giving the sensational blockbuster Bangalore Days in 2015. She was away from all the limelight for a while before working on a script; a love story with Dulquer Salmaan in the lead, but unfortunately the project could not materialize.

Recently, we had reported about Anjali Menon planning to don the director’s hat once again. Yes, the news is true and the director has roped in Prithviraj to play the lead in her next outing. Though the news about a Prithviraj-Anjali Menon was doing the rounds for sometime, it was not confirmed until the actor released a casting call for the film today.

The makers are on the look out for a boy who can play Prithviraj’s childhood in this upcoming movie. This yet to be titled film is being produced by Rejaputhra Visual Media in association with Little Films India. Prithviraj and Anjali Menon have earlier worked together in her debut directorial Manjadikuru. Anjali has proven her mettle, both as a filmmaker and a scenarist with her works like Manjadikuru, Ustad Hotel and Bangalore Days. Ustad Hotel, written by Anjali, had also won a couple of National awards – for best popular film providing wholesome entertainment and best dialogues.

Expectations are already soaring high for her movie with Prithviraj. Waiting for an official word regarding when the project will actually go on floors.

Release date announced for Nivin Pauly’s Njandukalude Naattil Oriedevala

Nivin Pauly wrapped up the shoot of Njandukalude Naattil Oriedevala few months back itself. Nivin got busy with other projects in Tamil and Malayalam, which kept delaying the movie’s release. This family entertainer marks the debut directorial of Premam fame Althaf Salim. The makers have announced that the movie will hit screens on September 1 as an Onam release.

Njandukalude Naattil Oriedevala stars debutante Aishwarya Lekshmi as the female lead. Njan Steve Lopez fame Ahaana Krishna will also be seen in a prominent role. Veteran actors Lal and Shanthi Krishna are playing Nivin’s parents in the movie. Srinda Arhaan will be seen as his twin sister and Siju Wilson essays her husband’s role. Sharafudheen, Krishna Sankar and Dileesh Pothan are also part of the cast.

The movie is written jointly by Althaf Salim and George Kora. Mukesh Muraleedharan has cranked the camera and Justin Varghese has handled the music department. Njandukalde Naatil Oridavela is the second production venture of Pauly Jr Pictures, owned by Nivin Pauly. E4Entertainment is releasing the movie all over India.

Nivin, meanwhile is busy shooting for Shyamaprasad’s Hey Jude, in which he is paired opposite Trisha. He is also awaiting the release of his first straight Tamil movie Richie, expected to hit screens next month.

Tamil actor Simbu made a surpise announcement yesterday about his next project. His next movie after the forgettable Anbanavan Asaradhavan Adangadhavan (AAA) will hit screens in September this year. The movie’s title or other details about the cast and crew members is yet to be revealed.

Simbu made the announcement through his Twitter space. He tweeted,

In his second tweet, Simbu said the upcoming film would have no songs and no interval. Yuvan Shankar Raja is composing the music for the film and Simbu believes that he has come up with something really out of the box this time.

Kollywood medias have report that this upcoming movie is the revival of his long shelved project Kettavan. Simbu himself has scripted, produced and directed this film, 80% of which has already been shot. The movie was rewritten several times with many fresh elements added. Akshara Gowda, noted for her roles in films like Thuppaki, Arrambam and Bogan is reportedly playing the female lead.

Kettavan, which was said to be a dream project of Simbu was set to begin in 2007 itself with Lekha Washington and Namitha as the female leads. The movie was publicised as a similar one in making style to his Manmadhan, but not its sequel. It is reportedly about a man who fails in love and turns evil to take revenge on the girl who cheats him.

Simbu’s last release Anbanavan Asaradhavan Adangadhavan (AAA) was a collosal failure in the box office. The makers had planned for a sequel but with the disappointing failure of the first part, it seems like they have dropped the plan completely.

Renji Panicker is back to scripting; Working on three films for Mohanlal, Suresh Gopi and Prithviraj

Renji Panicker was once known as a firebrand scriptwriter whose heroes went all out to put an end to the social evils. He was famous for his hard hitting English stuffed dialogues and heroic punchlines. Ekalavyan, Commissioner, The King, Lelam and Pathram were some of his most acclaimed movies. The veteran has also tried his hand in direction by helming two films- Roudram and Bharatchandran IPS.

After the debacle of the much hyped King and The Commissioner, Renji Panicker took a break from scripting. He started acting in films and soon established himself as a bankable actor who can play solid supporting characters. Some of his noted roles are-the veteran wrestler in Godha, the titular role in Jacobinte Swargarjyam and the easy going father in Om Shanthi Oshaana.

Despite being a full time actor now, Renji Panicker is also simultaneously working on three scripts. Writing has always been his field of interest and it looks like he is eyeing to make a memorable comeback.

Renji Panicker has been working for a sequel to the yesteryear blockbuster film Lelam for some time now. The second part will also be centred around the empire of Anakattil Chackochi, one of Suresh Gopi’s most popular characters. Renji Panicker’s son Nithin Renji Panicker will be directing this film. Nithin made his debut last year with the Mammootty starrer Kasaba, which was a commercially profitable outing. Suresh Gopi has also been away from films for sometime and the return of Anakattil Chakochi will be the best possible comeback he could ask for.

Antony Perumbavoor of Aashirvad Cinemas had recently announced that the blockbuster combo of Mohanlal and director Shaji Kailas will be reuniting under their banner. The movie also marks the comeback of the famous duo of Renji Panicker and Shaji Kailas. If reports are to be believed Renji Panicker is working on an full on action thriller.

It will be a typical Shaji Kailas movie with prominence to action. Renji Panicker and Shaji Kailas are famous for their 90s blockbusters like The King, Commissioner, Ekalavyan etc. This will be the writer – director duo’s first time collaboration for a Mohanlal starrer and that has certainly heightened the expectations. The superstar’s fans can be assured of an absolute treat from this legendary trio.

Prithviraj, one of the most sought after actors in Malayalam cinema, last day informed that he will be playing the lead in an upcoming big budget film to be directed by veteran Viji Thampi. Renji Panicker is scripting this movie which is based on the life of Velu Thampi Dalawa, a famous rebel who fought against the British East India Company.

The director in a recent interview, reveavled that Renji Panicker has already finished scripting and they are planning to go on floors by 2019. The movie will have a lot of other leading actors in prominent roles. Foreign actors will also be part of the film to play Britishers of English East India Company. It is an ambitious project and is said to be one of the most expensive project in Prithviraj’s career.

So with three real biggies lined up, Renji Panicker is surely eyeing for a massive comeback. Now let’s wait for the official announcements.

Antony Varghese is on a high ever since the release of his debut film Angamaly Diaries, which was a smashing success both critically and commercially. Titled as Swathanthryam Ardharathriyil, the movie is to be directed by debutant Tinu Pappachan, who was Lijo Jose Pellissery’s chief associate director in Angamaly Diaries. The movie is all set to start rolling in October.

Recently, several online medias had reported about Antony’s dream debut in Bollywood. It was reported that Karan Johar will be introducing Antony in Bollywood and the news soon went viral in social medias. A photo that Antony took with Karan in a party inadvertently made people to believe that he is indeed stepping into the glamour world of B-Town.

However, Antony Varghese has now cleared the air about all the talks related to his Hindi debut. Antony is presently in Madhya Pradesh for some personal reasons. It was only recently that the title for Mammootty’s upcoming movie with 7th Day fame Shyam Dhar was announced. Now, the official first look poster of the movie titled as Pullikkaran Staraa has been unveiled. The poster features Mammootty, who is seen teaching in what looks like a classroom.

Mammootty is playing the role of Rajakumaran, an Idukki native in the movie. His character comes to Kochi as an instructor in a teacher’s training institute. Nee-na fame Deepti Sati and Asha Sharath play the female leads.

Debutant Ratheesh Ravi has written this movie. The story is centred around the events occurring after Rajakumaran joining a government institute in Kochi. He is a very jovial person who considers every student of his as a child.

Rajakumaran’s students love his lectures as he connects and explains everything with an interesting anecdote. He is a fabulous story teller and the film will reveal the reasons for the same. Asha Sharath is also playing the role of a teacher in this movie. Innocent, Dileesh Pothen, Hareesh Perumanna and Sohan Seenulal are also part of the cast.

Vinod Ilampally has cranked the camera. M Jayachandran is composing the songs and Gopi Sunder is handling the background score. B Rakesh is producing this movie under the banner of Universal Cinemas. The movie is slated to hit screens for this year’s Onam season.

Shoot for Mohanlal’s upcoming movie Velipadinte Pusthakam was wrapped up recently and the team is busy with the post production works. The movie, directed by Lal Jose, marks his first time collaboration with the superstar. A new poster of the movie was released today afternoon through Mohanlal’s official Facebook page.

Unlike the initial few ones, the posters that are being of late features Mohanlal in a mass avatar. He is sporting two looks in the movie, one as a college professor and the other as a rugged local goon. Velipadinte Pusthakam, written by Benny P Nayarambalam, reportedly, travels through two different timelines.

There are talks that the second look appears during the flashback portions. It is worth a mention that Anoop Menon was also seen sporting a similar look for the film. Angamaly Diaries fame Anna Reshma Rajan is playing the female lead. Appani Sarath Kumar, Aanandam fame Arun Kurian, Jude Anthany Joseph, Priyanka Nair, Siddique, Alencier Ley Lopez and many other supporting actors are also part of the cast.

Godha fame Vishnu Sarma is cranking the camera and Shaan Rahman is handling the music department. The movie is being produced by Mohanlal’s own production house Aashirvad Cinemas. It is scheduled to hit screens for this Onam season.

Baahubali star Prabhas is currently shooting for Saaho, an upcoming multilingual directed by Sujeeth. The movie is highly anticipated by the audience as it is Prabhas’ first film in five years apart from the Baahuabli films. Saaho is a big budget project and the makers are roping in actors from other industries also to give it a pan Indian appeal.

Bollywood actor Neil Nitin Mukesh was roped in to play the antagonist. Now latest addition to the team is promising Tamil actor Arun Vijay. He has been signed on to play a very important role in the film. Despite being in the industry for nearly two decades, Arun Vijay found his biggest success only recently when he played the villain to Thala Ajith in Gautham Menon’s Yennai Arindhaal (YA).

Post YA, Arun Vijay has been part of many good films. His last release Kuttram 23, in which he played a forthright cop, was a successful film in the box office. As per reports, he has got a very solid role in the Prabhas starrer Saaho. His character has several layers and holds much prominence to the plot. He is expected to join the team very soon.

Prabhas is now popular all across the country after the whopping success of the Baahubali franchise. The audience are eagerly looking forward to his upcoming projects. He is seen sporting a new look in this film with a trendy hairstyle and a much leaner physique.

Saaho is produced by Vamsi Krishna Reddy and Pramod Uppalapati. To cash in on the huge popularity of Prabhas, the makers are releasing the film in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi and Malayalam languages.

Famed trio of Shankar Ehsaan Loy is handling the music department and renowned cinematographer R Madhie is cranking the camera. International stuntman Kenny Bates, popular for his work in Hollywood films like Die Hard and Transformers has been roped in to choreograph the stunts in Saaho. The movie will be releasing by the end of next year.

Superstar Mohanlal currently has a slew of projects lined up and if reports are to be believed he has committed for one more. He will be playing the lead in an upcoming trilingual directed by Kannada director Prem. The movie is being made in all four South Indian languages, with Shivarajkumar as the lead in the Kannada version and Mohanlal in the other three.

Director Prem has already completed the first schedule of the movie’s Kannada version titled as The Villain. The team shot for several scenes in London and will next be moving to Ladakh. It is a big budget movie that has an ensemble star cast. Eega actor Sudeep, Amy Jackson, Mithun Chakraborty and Sruthi Hariharan are part of the cast. Reportedly, only Sudeep will be retained in all four languages.

If the project materializes, it will be Mohanlal’s first trilingual film. The superstar has a considerable fan base in the Telugu speaking states with the success of his films like Janatha Garage and Manyam Puli. He has also done a Kannada movie Mythri with superstar Puneeth Rajkumar.

It is still not clear how Mohanlal has allocated dates for this upcoming trilingual. The superstar has a jam-packed schedule and hence an official confirmation about him starring in the movie is awaited. He is currently on a break after wrapping up the shoot for Lal Jose’s Velipadinte Pusthakam. The highly anticipated Odiyan, directed by VA Shrikumar Menon, is expected to go on floors next month. B Unnikrishnan’s Villain is also gearing up for a massive release.
