Mohanlal or Mammootty? Dulquer Salmaan reveals his favorite!

Dulquer Salmaan is now a popular actor across South India thanks to the wide acceptance of some of his films like Banglore Days, OK Kanmani, Charlie, Kali and Kammattipadam.

In the recently held Behindwoods Gold Medals 2017, Dulquer won the award for Best Actor (Critics Choice) for the year 2016. He won the award for his performance in Rajeev Ravi’s Kammattipaadam. Tamil star Sivakarthikeyan presented the award to Dulquer Salmaan.

During the show, he was asked by one of the hosts to choose his favourite between the two legends of Malayalam cinema – Mohanlal and Mammootty. The actor, diplomatic as always, replied that he likes both of them but added that his father will always be his no.1 (obviously).

Apart from Dulquer, Nivin Pauly and Sai Pallavi represented Malayalam cinema in the function. The former won the award for best actor in a lead role for his performance in Jacobinte Swargarajyam and Action Hero Biju. Sai Pallavi was honoured with the best actress for her performance in Sameer Thahir’s Kali, which had her paired opposite Dulquer.

Dulquer’s next release will be Soubin Shahir’s debut directorial Parava, in which he has played a cameo role. Bejoy Nambiar’s Solo, a bilingual in Tamil and Malayalam, is another movie in the pipeline. Besides that he has also committed for two other Tamil films, both of them with debutant filmmakers.

Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s Mersal is one of the most anticipated films of the year. It marks the reunion of Vijay with director Atlee after the blockbuster success of Theri. Expectations are naturally very high about this project.

Vijay is playing a triple role for the first time in his career. Nithya Menen, Kajal Agarwal and Samantha Ruth Prabhu are playing the female leads. And the involvement of big names like AR Rahman and Baahubali writer KV Vijayendra Prasad have created a huge pre-release hype for the movie.

The massive hype has reflected on the makers acquiring a huge amount as satellite rights. If reports are to be believed, the satellite rights of this Vijay starrer has been bagged by Zee TV for a whopping Rs 30 crores. Vijay has huge popularity among the family audience and hence the deal for such a big amount comes as no big surprise.

To cash in on the increasing popularity of Vijay in the Telugu speaking states, the makers are also dubbing the movie and the Telugu version has been titled as Adirindhi. The movie has a big star cast that includes filmmaker turned actor SJ Suryah, who is reportedly playing the prime antagonist, Sathyaraj, Vadivelu, Sathyan and Kovai Sarala.

Baahubali writer KV Vijayendra Prasad and Ramana Girivasan have helmed the film’s screenwriting. Oscar award winner AR Rahman is composing the music for this movie. Mersal is scheduled to release worldwide for this year’s Diwali. It is the 100th film to be funded under the prestigious banner of Sri Thenandal Films.

Chunkzz new video song released!

Chunkzz, an upcoming movie directed by Omar Lulu of Happy Wedding fame, is gearing up for release. The movie stars Aanandam fame Vishak Nair, Balu Varghese, Ganapathi, Honey Rose, Mareena Michael and Dharmajan in the lead roles.

The title song ‘Chunk Chunk’ was released today in the Millennium Audios channel in YouTube. It is a fun song set in the campus surroundings. BK Harinarayanan has written the quirky lyrics for this song sung and composed by Gopi Sunder.

Chunkzz promises to be a fun filled entertainer. It is the story of a group of mechanical engineering students, a stream which is normally considered as a boys fort. Honey Rose’s Riya is the sole girl in the mech department and Mareena Michael plays the role of Sherin, a DJ based in Bangalore. The movie’s plot evolves as the girls join the gang of boys on a trip to Goa. Veteran actors Siddique and Lal are also part of the cast.

Three newcomers Sanoop Thykoodam, Joseph Vijeesh and Aneesh Hameed have scripted this movie. They have jointly written the screenplay and dialogues for Omar Lulu’s story. Honey Bee fame Alby has cranked the camera. Dilip Dennis is in charge of the edits. The movie is produced by Vyshak Rajan under his banner Vaishaka Movies.

Parvathy Nair to reprise Anusree’s role in the Tamil remake of Maheshinte Prathikaram

It is already known that Priyadarshan is directing the Tamil remake of last year’s widely acclaimed Malayalam movie Maheshinte Prathikaram. Actor/producer Udhayanidhi Stalin and Malayali actress Namitha Pramod are confirmed to play the lead roles.

As per the latest reports, Parvathy Nair has been roped in to reprise the character played by Anusree in the original Malayalam version. Anusree’s character was a prominent one and she won a lot of appreciation for her portrayal of Soumya, Mahesh’s long time girlfriend who dumps him for a better proposal. Parvathy has acted in a few Tamil films like Nimirndhu Nil, Yennai Arindhaal, Uttama Villain etc and this Priyadarshan directorial is expected to provide a big break in her career.

Samuthirakani is essaying the villain’s role in the Tamil version. He had worked with Priyadarshan in last year’s blockbuster movie Oppam alongside Mohanlal. MS Bhaskar will be playing the role of the protagonist’s middle-aged friend, played by Alencier Ley in the original.

Maheshinte Prathikaram, directed by Dileesh Pothan was a huge success, both critically and commercially. It went on to win numerous accolades including a couple of National Awards. Priyadarshan has hinted that the Tamil verison will have some slight changes in the script. They will be tweaking the plot slightly to suit the sensibilities of the Tamil audience. Apparently, there will be much more prominence to humour in the Tamil version.

The Tamil remake is yet to be titled and the movie is being planned to be shot extensively in Theni and nearby regions. Priyadarshan has retained his technicians from Oppam for this movie also. NK Ekambaram is the DOP while MS Ayyappan Nair will be handle the edits. Santhosh T Kuruvilla of Moonshot Entertainment is funding the movie.

Mohanlal’s upcoming movie Velipadinte Pusthakam is nearing it’s final stages of shooting. The movie, directed by Lal Jose, marks his first time collaboration with the superstar. Velipadinte Pusthakam, written by Benny P Nayarambalam is a campus based entertainer in which Mohanlal is playing the role of professor Mathew Idicula.

During the inital days of shoot, Mohanlal was seen sporting a long hair and bearded look. Recently, there were reports that the superstar will have two more looks in the film. Last day, Mohanlal was seen in a rugged look while shooting for the film. He is sporting a thick twirled moustache with which he resembles a local goon. Incidentally, he is also wearing a ‘chandhana kuri’. This confirms that there is a mystery surrounding his character as he is named as Mathew Idicula in the film. Earlier, Anoop Menon was also seen sporting a similar look for the film. Then it was revealed that his scenes appear in the flashback portions. So we presume that this new rugged look of Mohanlal will also appear in the flashback scenes.

Angamaly Diaries fame Anna Reshma Rajan is playing the female lead. She is essaying the role of Mary, an assistant professor in the same college. Angamaly Diaries fame Sarath Kumar, Aanandam fame Arun Kurian and Jude Anthany Joseph are playing the role of college students in the movie. Priyanka Nair, Siddique Alencier Ley Lopez and many other supporting actors are also part of the cast.

Godha fame Vishnu Sarma is cranking the camera while Shaan Rahman is composing the music. The movie is being produced by Mohanlal’s own production house Aashirvad Cinemas.

Basheerinte Premalekhanam is an upcoming romantic comedy directed by Aneesh Anwar. Farhaan Faasil and Mariyamukku fame Sana Althaf are playing the lead roles in the movie.

The makers have released the movie’s official trailer today. It promises to be a fun entertainer revolving around a set of villagers. Basheerinte Premalekhanam is written jointly by three newbies Shinod Sivam, Bipin K Paulose, Shamseer Ahamed. Camera is cranked by the 20 year old Sanjay Harris, the youngest cameraman in Malayalam cinema history.

Veteran actors Madhu and Sheela are essaying pivotal characters in the movie. Nedumudi Venu, Joy Mathew, Harish Kanaran, Aju Varghese, Shanavas, Suraj Harris, Sreejith Ravi, Sohan Seenulal, Sunil Sugatha, Manikandan Achari, Asha Aravind and Sivaji Guruvayoor are playing supporting roles in the movie.

Basheerinte Premalekhanam is produced by P M Harris and Mohammed Althaf under the banner Fort Entertainment.

Suriya has been working on Vignesh Shivan’s comedy entertainer Thaana Serndha Koottam for some time now. Shoot for the movie is nearing it’s completion and will soon enter the post-production stage.

Meanwhile, there is an interesting report coming in from Kollywood medias. Sudha Kongara of Irudhi Suttru fame might direct Suriya in her next film. Reportedly, Suriya was so impressed by Sudha’s script that he has also decided to produce it under his own banner 2D Entertainment. Incidentally, Sudha was also one of the guests for the audio launch of Jyothika’s Magalir Mattum, which is also produced by 2D Entertainment.

Sudha Kongara, an erstwhile associate of the legendary Mani Ratnam, won widespread appreciation for her movie Irudhi Suttru, which was released last year. The movie starring Madhavan and Ritika Singh in the lead roles was a bilingual made in Tamil and Hindi (Saala Khadoos). It was a huge success at the box office and also won several awards at the 64th National Film Awards. Sudha also remade the movie in Telugu as Guru with Venkatesh reprising Madhavan’s role.

An official word about Suriya-Sudha Kongara film is still awaited. Following the debacle of Singam 3, Suriya has been on the look for some interesting scripts. His next film after Thaana Serndha Koottam will be with the ace filmmaker Selvaraghavan.

After Kattappanayile Rithwik Roshan, Dharmajan gets another solid role in Asif Ali’s Sunday Holiday

Dharmajan Bolgatty is a performer who is loved by the audience irrespective of age groups. We all know about his amazing humour timing. He was mostly cast in sidekick roles to provide the comic relief. But last year he proved his ability to perform in solid roles by playing the character Dasappan in Nadirshah’s Kattappanayile Rithwik Roshan. Apart from the usual humour, the character had more depth and Dharmajan gave a remarkable performance.

Post Kattappanayile Rithwik Roshan, Dharmajan has been getting a lot of offers to play full length roles. Happy Wedding fame Omar Lulu’s Chunkzz, Mammootty’s Streetlights and Cappuccino are some of them.

Asif Ali’s upcoming movie Sunday Holiday is another such film where Dharmajan will be seen in a prominent role. Sunday Holiday is written and directed by Jis Joy of Bicycle Thieves fame. It stars Asif Ali and Maheshinte Prathikaram fame Aparna Balamurali in the lead roles.

The movie promises to be a feel good entertainer. It will have a very realistic romantic thread told in a two layered narrative. One is about an incident that happens on a particular Sunday, while the rest will explore the life of a band set master and his son. Dharmajan is playing Asif’s friend in the movie. In this movie, he is seen sporting a stylish look with coloured hair and a soul patch beard.

Sunday Holiday has a big supporting cast that includes Pretham fame Shruthi Ramachandran, Alencier Ley Lopez, Asha Sharath, Nirmal Palazhy, Siddique, Lal Jose, Bhagath Manuel, KPAC Lalitha and Sudheer Karamana among others.

Sunday Holiday is produced by Sheen Helen under the banner of Maqtro Pictures. The movie is expected to hit screens very soon.

Cappuccino Malayalam movie song teaser released

Cappuccino, an upcoming Malayalam movie starring youngsters in the major roles is gearing up for release. Directed by Naushad Media City, the movie’s star cast includes Adi Kapyare Kootamani fame Vineeth Mohan, Dharmajan, Harish Kanaran, Sudhi Koppa, Aneesh G Menon, Sunil Sugatha, Anwar Shareef, Manoj Guinness, Raveendran, Aneetta and Sharanya in supporting roles.

Teaser for the song ‘Midukki Midukki’ was released today. Shahabaz Aman has sung this song which is remixed by Bibin Ashok. The original song was composed by K Raghavan Master.

Post production works for the movie is currently progressing in Kochi. According to the makers, it is a full length comedy entertainer. Cappuccino is produced by Dr. Scott under the banner of Panning Cam Films Films.

Celebrities all praise for Fahadh Faasil-Dileesh Pothan duo’s Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum!

After much anticipation, Fahadh Faasil- Dileesh Pothan team’s Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum finally hit screens on Friday. The movie is getting outstanding reports from all the centres. Critics have rated it as a terrific watch and the Malayali cine buffs have already started dissecting the layers in what can be called as a ‘gem of a movie’.

Noted filmmakers like Lijo Jose Pellissery and B Unnikrishnan have written highly about this movie in their Facebook pages. The latter in particular has posted a very detailed write-up congratulating all the artists and technicians associated with this film.

Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum is a social-satire revolving around a newly married couple and a small time mysterious thief.
