Baahuabli star Prabhas to play the lead in Prabhudeva’s film

Prabhas is a nation wide star after the spectacular success of the Baahuabli franchise. He is currently the most wanted star in Indian cinema, with offers flooding him from across industries. As per latest reports, actor/filmmaker Prabhudeva will direct Prabhas’ next film after the ongoing Saaho.

It is worth a mention that Prabhas has previously made a guest appearance in Prabhudheva’s Hindi directorial Action Jackson. In a recent interview to leading daily Deccan Chronicle, Prabhudeva is quoted saying, “Prabhas is a dear friend and I’ve known him from the time he entered Telugu cinema. In fact, he sportingly did a cameo in my Hindi film Action Jackson. I’d love to direct him. And not just because of Baahubali.”

He continued, “There’s no point in doing a film together just because it makes business. I have been thinking of a film with Prabhas for a while now. Right now, he’s busy with his next Telugu film Saaho, post which we will do our film together.”

Prabhas has already started his works for the upcoming multilingual film Saaho, which is being directed by Sujeeth. Anushka Shetty is rumoured to be playing the female lead in the movie. Prabhas is sporting a new get-up for Saaho. He has taken off his ‘Baahubali’ beard and was last seen with a clean shaven look. He is also shedding the extra pounds that he gained for Baahubali. Bollywood actor Neil Nitin Mukesh has been roped in to play the villain in Saaho.

The movie is produced by Vamsi Krishna Reddy and Pramod Uppalapati. It is reportedly being made on a whopping budget of Rs 150 crores. To cash in on the huge popularity of Prabhas, the makers are planning to release the movie in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi and Malayalam languages.

Prithviraj has ended his association with August Cinemas, a production and distribution house he started in 2011 along with Shaji Nadesan and Santhosh Sivan. Actor Arya joined the company later. Prithviraj informed this to his followers with a Facebook note titled The End Is Always A Beginning.

Hi all,
It’s been 6 years and more. Back in 2011, out of a dream to create a film that would truly attempt to make a statement on the excellence in Malayalam cinema, Santosh Sivan, Shaji Nadesan and I joined hands to form August Cinema Pvt Ltd. Through the last 6 years, we have continuously striven to facilitate deserving and aesthetic cinema and I genuinely am thankful for the efforts of my partners in doing the same.

Today, I believe that it’s time for me to start travelling on a different tangent, and on that journey, I might not always be able to be part of a partnership. So with great memories, heartfelt gratitude and some films that I will be proud of forever, I bid adieu to August Cinemas. I will always remain a well wisher of the company, and I have faith that the brand will continue to be associated with the kind of films I set out to make with this dream.

August Cinemas’ first production venture was Urumi, released in 2011. Later they produced films like Indian Rupee, Kadal Kadannu Oru Maathukutty, Sapthamashree Thaskaraha, Double Barrel, Darwinte Parinamam and Anuraga Karikkin Vellam. The company was also active in the distribution arena taking up films like Manjadikkuru, Molly Aunty Rocks, Bachelor Party, 5 Sundarikal, Bangalore Days, Iyobinte Pusthakam, Lukka Chuppi etc. Their last production was the Mammootty starrer The Great Father, which was a huge box office success.

Nayanthara’s Aramm satellite rights acquired for a huge amount

Nayanthara’s upcoming movie Aramm is currently in its post-production stages. The movie directed by Gopi Nainar is a socially relevant movie that deals with the issue of water scarcity.

The television satellite rights of the movie have been bagged by Sun Network (SUN TV) for a whopping price. Think Music has already bagged the musical rights of the film. Nayanthara’s big fan base and popularity among the families have helped the movie gain a big amount with the satellite rights.

Nayanthara is playing the role of a district collector in Aramm. She works for the welfare of the people who is suffering from water scarcity and it’s subsequent issues. Kakka Muttai fame Ramesh and Vignesh, Ramachandran Durairaj, Sunu Lakshmi are also playing important roles in the movie.

Aramm is produced by Kottapadi J Ramesh under his banner KJR Studios. Omprakash is the cinematographer for this movie while National award winning action choreographer Peter Hein has handled the stunts. Ghibran has composed the music. The movie’s teaser was released recently to great response among the audience. Aramm is expected to hit screens very soon.

Nayanthara has multiple projects in her kitty. She will be next seen in Mohan Raja’s multi starrer featuring Sivakarthikeyan, Fahadh Faasil and Sneha in major roles. Imaikka Nodigal with Atharvaa Murali and Anurag Kashyap is another movie waiting in the pipeline.

Director Vysakh after the record breaking success of Pulimurugan been on a long break. On New Year’s day, he had announced that his next will Raja 2, starring Mammootty. He had also revealed about his future projects with Mohanlal, Jayaram, Dileep and Dulquer Salmaan.

However, what we now hear is that Vysakh is all set to team up with Nivin Pauly for a mass entertainer. As per these reports, Pulimurugan scribe Udhayakrishna is scripting this Nivin Pauly starrer and Vaishaka Rajan will be producing this movie. The authenticity of these reports is yet to be confirmed but there is a strong buzz within the industry about the possibility of this project.

Nivin, meanwhile has a number of exciting projects in his kitty. He is currently busy shooting for Moothon, which is the debut directorial of Geetu Mohandas in Malayalam. He is awaiting the release of his first straight Tamil movie Richie. His next release in Malayalam will be Njandukalude Naatil Oridavela, directed by Premam fame Althaf.

Besides that, he has also committed for two movies in Tamil; both with debutant filmmakers, Hey Jude with Shyamaprasad and Rosshan Andrews’ movie based on the life of Kayamkulam Kochunni, written by Bobby-Sanjay.

So it is not yet sure when this Vyskah directorial will start rolling. An official announcement is expected to be made in the coming days.

Mohanlal is coming with Odiyan tomorrow!

Mohanlal’s highly anticipated big budget movie Odiyan is currently in the pre-production stage. The superstar has informed that he will be coming with some important updates about the movie in his official Facebook page, tomorrow at 8.00 PM.

We presume that a first look poster will be revealed tomorrow. Odiyan will mark the directorial debut of noted ad filmmaker VA Shrikumar Menon. The movie, written by National award winner Harikrishnan is a fantasy drama. It is a thriller that will have a mix of action, romance and magical realism.

Manju Warrier is playing the female lead and veteran actor Prakash Raj will be seen in a powerful antagonist’s role. Recently, the makers had released a casting call for boys and girls who can play the younger parts of these three actors.
They had particularly mentioned that those applying for playing Mohanlal’s childhood should have good flexibility and be trained in Kalaripayattu, gymnastics and martial arts.

Odiyan is named after a man who is mastered in odividya. The movie is primarily about Odividya, a black magic trick used to tackle the enemies. National award winner Peter Hein has been roped in to choreograph the stunts. Sabu Cyril, the brain behind massive projects like Baahubali, Enthiran and Ra-One, is in charge of Odiyan’s production design. Sreekar Prasad will be handling the edits and M Jayachandran will be composing the music. Pulimurugan’s cameraman Shaji Kumar will be wielding the camera.

Mohanlal’s own production house Aashirvad Cinemas is funding this big budget movie. Palakkad, Pollachi, Hyderabad and Banaras have been finalized as the major locations. As per reports, the move will start rolling from August first week.

Duvvada Jagannadham is posing serious threat to Salman Khan’s Tubelight in most overseas centres. As per latest collection reports, the movie has already gone past the Rs 100 crore mark. DJ is now Allu Arjun’s third film to enter the elite club after Race Gurram and Sarrainodu. It is also the third highest worldwide grosser for Allu Arjun.

Prithviraj- Indrajith starrer Tiyaan is all set to hit screens on July 7. The movie was initially scheduled to release on June 29, but got postponed due to some delay in getting the censor certificate. Tiyaan is a much awaited film as some big names are associated with it.

Murali Gopy has scripted this movie and is directed by Jiyen Krishnakumar. The makers had informed that Tiyaan is a multi-genre attempt, first of it’s kind in Malayalam cinema.

Prithviraj has pinned high hopes on this film as is evident from his promo- interviews. He said that Tiyaan is not about a single person or does not revolve around a single incident. It discusses about the various social-political and religious events happening in particular time period, a locality and it’s culture. He has urged everyone to take families with them to watch the movie. He informed that is a complete mass entertainer which has multiple layers embedded to it.

The action sequences, the hero, the villain and the revenge will be what strikes you at the beginning but once that is settled in, the different philosophical and spiritual layers starts unveiling itself, said Prithviraj, who is playing the character Aslan Mohammed.

Both the lead actors, Prithviraj and Indrajith have rated their roles in Tiyaan as the most complex and challenging ones they ever had to perform. Besides scripting the movie, Murali Gopy is also playing a pivotal part as Ramakant Mahasay.

Tiyaan boasts of a huge star cast that includes Padmapriya, Ananya, Shine Tom Chacko, Mrudula Sathe, Ranjeeth, Rahul Madhav, Shine Tom Chacko, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Prakash Bare and Paris Lakshmi among others. It is said to be one of the most expensive Malayalam movies to have released till date. Haneef Mohammed of Red Rose Creations has produced the movie.

Dileep’s next release is Ramaleela, a political thriller directed by debutant Arun Gopy. Amidst all the issues related to the actress-assault case, the makers released the movie’s first teaser on Wednesday.

Our sources close to the unit inform that Ramaleela will be a refreshing change from the regular Dileep films that have more prominence to humour. Ramaleela is a serious subject; a political drama, scripted by noted scenarist Sachy.

Dileep is playing the role of a non-practising lawyer, a common man who by circumstances becomes an MLA. The director had earlier revealed that the movie will reflect Kerala’s contemporary political scenario. However, the political parties in the movie will be purely fictional.

Eventhough Dileep has acted as politicians in movies like Lion and Nadodi Mannan, his character in Ramaleela will be a different one. The movie has a very endearing mother- son relationship in the backdrop of political affairs. Veteran Kollywood actress Raadhika Sarathkumar is making a comeback to Kollywood after two decades by playing Dileep’s mother.

Prayaga Rose Martin will be seen as the female lead. The cast also includes Mukesh, Salim Kumar, Renji Panicker, Siddique, Vijayaraghavan, Suresh Krishna and Kalabhavan Shajon in supporting roles.

Shaji Kumar has cranked the camera while Vivek Harshan is in charge of the edits. Gopi Sunder has handled the music department. Tomichan Mulakupadam has funded this movie under the banner of Mulakupadam Films. Ramaleela is slated to hit screens on July 7th.

Dileep is going through a rough patch with his last few releases; Pinneyum, Welcome to Central Jail and Georgettan’s Pooram failing to do well at the box office. Let’s hope he returns back to winning ways with Ramaleela.

Antony and Lijo Jose Pellissery are also seen in the picture, which seems to be taken during a discussion session. He has captioned the photo as ‘Same team, different roles.. coming soon’.

From the caption, we presume that Chemban Vinod Jose will be acting in this film. Antony Vargheese will probably play the lead role. There are reports about Vijay Babu producing this movie, but there is still no official word regarding the same. More details about this exciting project is expected to be announced in the coming days.

Varun Agarwal is the brain behind Alma Mater and the author of the book, How I Braved Anu Aunty & Co-Founded a Million Dollar Company. He is being looked up as an inspiration by many youngsters. His journey of starting from a small locality to establishing himself as a brand has been phenomenal.
