Fahadh Faasil-Anwar Rasheed movie Trance has a stellar star cast

Earlier in the day we had reported that Fahadh Faasil’s upcoming movie with director Anwar Rasheed has been titled as Trance. The movie has some big names in the team like Resul Pookkutty and Amal Neerad.

Trance means a psychological state induced by a magical incantation. It is a state of mind in which consciousness is fragile or missing. The vibrant title poster also indicates the same with trippy shades.

The movie’s cast is a big one that includes the likes Vinayakan, Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Bhasi, Premam director Alphonse Puthren and Chemban Vinod Jose. Alphonse Puthren’s name comes as a big surprise. Even though he played a cameo role in Premam, this will be his attempt in a full length role.

Newbie Vincent Vadakkan has scripted the movie. Cinematographer turned filmmaker Amal Neerad is cranking the camera. Debutant Jackson Vijayan will be composing the music. Oscar award winner Resul Pookutty has been roped in as the sound designer.

Trance is expected to start rolling very soon. Recently in an interview, Fahadh had mentioned that this will be the biggest film in his career. Anwar Rasheed has only delivered successful films and when he teams up with an actor like Fahadh, expectations are certainly on the higher side. The director is also producing this movie under his banner Anwar Rasheed Entertainment.

Fahadh Faasil and Anwar Rasheed have worked together in 5 Sundarikal and Bangalore Days. Anwar Rasheed directed the segment Aami in 5 Sundharikal, an anthology of five movies. Fahadh played the central character in that segment. He has also worked under Anwar Rasheed’s production in Bangalore Days, directed by Anjali Menon. The duo had earlier planned to team up for a movie titled as Maniyarayil Jinn but it could not materialize due to some unknown reasons.

Meanwhile Fahadh’s is awaiting the release of his upcoming movie Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum, directed by Dileesh Pothen. The movie is all set to hit screens on June 30.

Dhanush in Belgium for his Hollywood film The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir

It is already known that Dhanush is making his Hollywood debut with a movie titled The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir. The actor is currently in Belgium for a month-long schedule of the movie.

The movie is based on the novel, ‘The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir Who Got Trapped In An IKEA Wardrobe’, written by Romain Puertolas. Dhanush had earlier shot for the the first schedule of the movie which was held in Mumbai in May.

The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir is directed by Ken Scott. Initially, the movie was supposed to be directed by Marjane Satrapi. Ken Scott, joined the team just a few months back to rework the script and direct the film. Nicolas Errera is handling the music department. Bollywood sensation Amit Trivedi has composed two Hindi songs for the film.

The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir is an adventure fantasy drama. The movie stars Uma Thurman, Baywatch actor Alexandra Daddoria, Laurent Lafitte and Berenice Bejo. Shoot for the movie is expected to take place in Brussels, Paris and Rome. The film is being produced by Jaime Mateus-Tique and Luc Bossi of Vamonos Films and Brio Films.

Dhanush’s next release will be Velai Illa Pattadhari 2 aka VIP 2, the sequel to his 2014 blockbuster film VIP. The seqeul marks the comeback of Bollywood actress Kajol to Tamil film industry after a gap of over two decades. She is playing an antagonist in this movie directed by Soundarya Rajinikanth. The movie is all set for release on July 28.

The annual general body meeting of the Association Of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) is being held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Kochi.

Nivin Pauly, Jayasurya, Navya Nair, Indrajith, Balachandra Menon, Mamta Mohandas, Innocent, Sai Kumar, Chemban Vinod Jose, Edavela Babu, Captain Raju, Maniyan Pilla Raju, Ganesh Kumar and many others are already present for the meeting. More actors are expected to arrive soon.

Shoot for Gautham Vasudev Menon’s next with Vikram titled as Dhruva Natchathiram is currently progressing at a brisk pace. The next schedule of shoot has been planned in four different countries- Bulgaria, Slovenia, Abu Dhabi and Turkey.

Recently, a photo of Vikram wearing combat gear was released from the sets of Dhruva Natachathiram. Vikram is in amazing shape to play the role of a Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) agent. The actor’s chiselled physique and stunning looks complement for the character.

Dhurva Natachathiram boasts of a stellar star cast that includes two female leads, Aishwarya Rajesh and Pelli Choopulu fame Ritu Varma. Parthiban, Simran, Raadhika Sarathkumar, DD, Sathish, Munna Simon, Vamsi and many others are also part of the cast.

Dhurva Natachathiram is a spy thriller and it is being shot on a big scale. International stunt coordinators have been roped in to choreograph the high octane stunts in the movie. Gautham Menon’s own production house Ondraga Entertainment and Escape Artists Pictures are jointly funding this movie.

Harris Jayaraj is handling the music department. Malayali cinematographer Jomon T John was the DOP for the first schedule but he later opted out due to other commitments. He has been replaced by ace cameraman Ravi K Chandran’s son Santhana Krishnan. Praveen Antony is handling the edits. The movie is expected to release in August, this year.

Vineeth Sreenivasan and his wife Divya Narayanan have been blessed with a baby boy. Vineeth informed the happy news with his followers through his official Facebook page.

Vineeth has now joined the new brigade of Mollywood fathers like Dulquer Salmaan, Nivin Pauly and Asif Ali, who all welcomed their baby girls recently.

Divya and Vineeth got married in October 2012 after 8 long years of relationship. Divya and Vineeth were college mates in Chennai. Divya has worked as a dubbing artist in Vineeth Sreenivasan’s last directorial Jacobinte Swargarayam. She lent voice for the character Ammu Jacob, played by Aima Rose Sebastian in the movie.

Meanwhile, Vineeth’s last release Oru Cinemakkaaran, directed by Leo Thaddeus of Payyans fame, is getting decent reports from all the release centres.

Asif Ali’s upcoming movie Sunday Holiday is gearing up for release. The movie, written and directed by Jis Joy stars Maheshinte Prathikaram fame Aparna Balamurali as the female lead.

First song from the movie was released today. Lyrics for the song ‘Kando Ninte Kannil’ (Prajandanam) is written by the director Jis Joy himself. His quirky lyrics are set to tune by Deepak Dev. This party song is rendered by Anwar Sadath.

Last week, the trailer of Sunday Holiday was released. The movie promises to be a feel good entertainer. It will have a very realistic romantic thread told in a two layered narrative. One is about an incident that happens on a particular Sunday, while the rest will explore the life of a band set master and his son.

Sunday Holiday has two female leads in Aparna Balamurali and Pretham fame Shruthi Ramachandran. Alencier Ley Lopez, Asha Sharath, Nirmal Palazhy, Siddique, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Bhagath Manuel, KPAC Lalitha and Sudheer Karamana are playing supporting roles in the movie.

Alex J Pulickal has cranked the camera while Ratheesh Raj has handled the edits. Sunday Holiday is produced by Sheen Helen under the banner of Maqtro Pictures.

Amidst all the issues related to the actress-assault case, Dileep and the makers of his upcoming movie Ramaleela have boldly released the movie’s first teaser.

Ramaleela is the directorial debut of Arun Gopi and is produced by Tomichan Mulakupadam’s Mulakupadam Films. Unlike Dileep’s last few outings, Ramaleela is a serious subject; a political drama. Noted scenarist Sachy has scripted this movie.

Dileep is playing the role of a non-practising lawyer, a common man who by circumstances becomes an MLA. He has previously played the role of politicians in films like Lion and Nadodi Mannan. But, Ramaleela will be a different kind of movie.

Prayaga Rose Martin will be seen as the female lead opposite Dileep. Veteran Kollywood actress Radhika Sarathkumar is making a comeback to Kollywood after two decades by playing Dileep’s mother.

The cast also includes Mukesh, Renji Panicker, Salim Kumar, Siddique, Vijayaraghavan, Suresh Krishna and Kalabhavan Shajon in supporting roles. Shaji Kumar has cranked the camera while Vivek Harshan is in charge of the edits. Gopi Sunder has handled the music department.

Ramaleela is slated to hit screens on July 7th. Dileep is going through a lean phase with his last few releases; Pinneyum, Welcome to Central Jail and Georgettan’s Pooram failing to do well at the box office. Let’s hope he return back to winning ways with Ramaleela.

Charlie writer Unni R’s next movie Prathi Poovankozhi is a satire

We had earlier told you that writer Unni R’s next movie has been titled as Prathi Poovankozhi. Unni R, who has written acclaimed films like Munnariyippu and Charlie will be working with a bunch of youngsters for this upcoming movie.

Nee Ko Njaa Chaa fame Gireesh Mano will be directing this film. The movie will have a set of newcomers in the lead roles. In a recent interview, Unni R revealed that the movie will be a contemporary satire set against a rural backdrop in Kottayam. They are planning to kick-start the shoot by September.

Shebin Becker, who has funded movies like Charlie and Take Off is producing this film. Meanwhile, director Gireesh is busy working on his upcoming directorial Lava Kusha starring Aju Varghese, Neeraj Madhav, Biju Menon and Deepti Sati in major roles. The movie marks the debut of Neeraj Madhav as a scenarist and it is touted to be a comedy spy thriller. Lava Kusha is expected to release in August.

Unni R has already finished scripting for the upcoming Dulquer Salmaan starrer Oru Bhayankara Kamukan. Lal Jose will be directing this movie, touted to be a rural entertainer. This movie will also be funded by Shebin Becker. It was supposed to go on floors much earlier but was postponed due to Dulquer’s prior commitments.

Sivakarthikeyan-Samantha movie starts rolling

The superhit duo of Sivakarthikeyan and director Ponram are teaming up once again for a rom-com entertainer. Samantha Ruth Prabhu is playing the female lead in this yet to be titled movie. Simran, one of the leading actresses of her time, is also playing a pivotal role in the movie.

This is Sivakarthikeyan’s third outing with director Ponram’s third after the superhit films Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam and Rajini Murugan. This new movie has a solid cast that includes Malayali actor Lal, Napoleon, Soori, Motta Rajendran, Yogi Babu and Manobala among others.

Within a week of commencement of it’s shoot, the movie’s satellite rights has been acquired by a huge price for leading Tamil channel Sun TV. The movie is being produced by 24 AM Studios, their third successive film with Sivakarthikeyan after Remo and the upcoming Mohan Raja directorial Velaikaaran.

Last week, the satellite rights of Velaikaaran was bagged by Vijay TV for a big amount. Sivakarthikeyan is a household name in Tamil Nadu and his movie premieres normally have great viewership.

This is the first movie where Sivakarthikeyan and Samantha will be sharing screen space. The actress is undergoing training in Tamil Nadu’s traditional martial arts form Silambam for her role in the movie.

Director Ponram has retained the same set of technicians for his new movie also. D Imman will be handling the music department and Balasubramaniam is cranking the camera for this rom-com, set in a rural backdrop.

Allu Arjun’s Duvvada Jagannadham beats Salman Khan’s Tubelight

Last Friday, we witnessed the release of two highly anticipated films; Salman Khan’s Tubelight and the Allu Arjun starrer Duvvada Jagannadham. Tubelight marked the reunion of Salman with Kabir Khan after the blockbuster success of Bhajrangi Bhaijaan. So the expectations were naturally sky-high among the audience.

However, Tubelight has failed to live up to the expectations and was opened to lukewarm response from the audience. The film received mixed reviews from the critics and has managed to gross only Rs 64.77 crores at the domestic box office.

Similar was the case in the overseas markets as well. Tubelight has not managed to do the expected business. In the US box office, the Allu Arjun starrer DJ aka Duvvada Jagannadham has had better collections than Tubelight.

Duvvada Jagannadham has surpassed the opening day collections as well as the opening weekend figures of Tubelight. The Allu Arjun starrer has raked in USD 873,249 (Rs. 5.62 cr) from 190 screens while Tubelight released in 342 screens has managed to earn only USD 757,472 (Rs. 4.88 cr).

Tubelight was expected to do massive business considering the huge pre-release hype. However, as it turns out, the Salman Khan starrer is facing some stiff competition from DJ- Duvvada Jagannadham.

The Allu Arjun starrer is an action romance entertainer, written and directed by Harish Shankar. Duvvada Jagannadham stars model turned actor Pooja Hegde as the female lead. The movie is produced by Dil Raju under the banner Sri Venkateswara Creations.
