Here’s a golden opportunity to work with Mohanlal in Odiyan

Mohanlal’s highly anticipated big budget movie Odiyan is currently in the pre-production stage. As per the latest reports coming in, the move will start rolling from August 1. Odiyan will mark the directorial debut of noted ad filmmaker VA Shrikumar Menon. The movie, written by National award winner Harikrishnan is a fantasy drama. It is a thriller that will have a mix of action, romance and magical realism.

Manju Warrier is playing the female protagonist and veteran actor Prakash Raj will be seen in a powerful antagonist’s role. The makers have now released a casting call for the movie. They are looking for boys and girls within the age groups of 5-7, 10-14, 16-18 and 21-24.

Apparently, the makers are looking for kids and youngsters who can play the childhood phase of the aforementioned three actors. They have particularly mentioned that those applying for playing Mohanlal’s childhood should have good flexibility and be trained in Kalaripayattu, gymnastics and martial arts. Aspirants should also be willing to train under the action choreographer to fully transform into an Odiyan.

Odiyan casting call

Odiyan is named after a man who is mastered in odividya. The movie is primarily about Odividya, a black magic trick used to tackle the enemies. National award winner Peter Hein has been roped in to choreograph the stunts.

Some other big names in the technical team include Sabu Cyril, who is in charge of the production design, editor Sreekar Prasad and composer M Jayachandran. Pulimurugan’s cameraman Shaji Kumar will be cranking the Odiyan also. Mohanlal’s own production house Aashirvad Cinemas is funding this big budget movie. Palakkad, Pollachi, Hyderabad and Banaras are finalized as the major locations.

Fidaa: The teaser for Sai Pallavi’s debut Telugu movie is trending in social medias

Premam fame Sai Pallavi is making her Telugu debut this year with the Varun Tej starrer Fidaa. Official teaser for the movie directed by Sekhar Kammula was released on Saturday.

From what we get to see in the teaser, Fidaa promises to be a beautiful love story. It comes with the tagline ‘Love-Hate-Love’ and is reportedly the story of an NRI who falls in love with a girl from Telangana.

Director Sekhar Kammula is noted for his movies like Happy Days, Dollar Dreams and Godavari. He is a widely acclaimed filmmaker and has won the National Award as well.

Fidaa’s 29 second teaser features Sai Pallavi as the girl that Varun Tej falls in love with instantly. The teaser has been well received and is now trending in various social media platforms. The makers have also revealed that the movie will be released on 23 June. Fidaa has been in the making for a very long time. The movie is produced by Dil Raju.

Sai Pallavi became an overnight sensation in the south Indian film industry with the Malayalam blockbuster Premam. This year she will also be making her entry to the Tamil film industry. Her debut Tamil movie Karu directed by AL Vijay is a horror film. The movie is funded by Lyca productions.

The 64th Jio Filmfare Awards was held yesterday at Hyderabad. The event saw many leading stars from all four South Indian industries walking the red carpet while dancers set the stage on fire with some entertaining numbers.

For the awards in Kollywood, Irudhi Suttru won the major awards including the best director (Sudha Kongara), best actor (R Madhavan) and best actress (Rithika Singh). Suriya won the award for critics best actor for his performance as the antagonist in 24.

24 directed by Vikram Kumar is a science fiction thriller starring Suirya in a triple role. His performance as Athreya, the menacing differently-abled villain was widely appreciated by the critics as well as the common audience.

While speaking after receiving the award, Suriya said “It’s been nine years since I last won a Filmfare award. Tomorrow is Father’s Day and I would be very happy to share this award with my son, who, after seeing the film, kept saying Athreya after coming home.”

He also thanked the director Vikram Kumar and the entire team of 24. Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Nithya Menen played the female leads. The movie was produced by Suriya’s own production house 2D Entertainment.

Superstar to play the role of E Sreedharan in Rima Kallingal’s Arabikkadalinte Rani- The Metro Woman

Last day we told you that a Malayalam movie is being made on the backdrop of Kerala’s dream project- Kochi metro. The movie titled as Arabikkadalinte Rani- The Metro Woman stars Rima Kallingal as the protagonist.

One of the movie’s pivotal characters is E Madhavan, which is based on the ‘Metro Man’ E Sreedharan. Reportedly, a superstar has been approached to play this role. E Sreedharan is a widely revered personality among the masses and hence it demands a leading actor who can fill in the big shoes. The makers are tight lipped about who will be playing this role and that has obviously piqued the curiosity of the audience.

Arabikkadalinte Rani- The Metro Woman is directed by M Padmakumar and scriptwriter Suresh Babu. The latter has also co-written the movie along with MU Pradeep. The movie is about a woman’s attempts to meet her role model E Madhavan, the man who spearheaded the ambitious metro project. Rima Kallingal is playing the protagonist’s role of PK Lalitha, a sales girl who hails from Tripunithura.

Anoop Menon, Alencier Ley Lopez,
Santhosh Keezhattoor, Srinda Arhaan, Arun Narayan and Sheelu Abraham are also part of the cast. Veteran cinematographer Madhu Neelakandan has been roped in to crank the camera. Vinod Sukumaran will be editing the movie. VG Films International is producing this movie.

Indrajith in Dhuruvangal 16 fame Karthick Naren’s Naragasooran; First look posters of all 4 languages unveiled

We had earlier reported that Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru fame Karthick Naren’s next movie is titled as Naragasooran. The movie has three male leads; Arvind Swamy, Indrajith and Sundeep Kishan. Shriya Saran is playing the female protagonist. The first look poster for this multilingual movie was released today. Posters for the Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam versions were released.

As per the director, Naragasooran will be an dark and emotionally intense suspense drama. The movie comes with the tagline ‘The tale of a fallen demon’. Telugu actor Naga Chaitanya was supposed to play one of the leads but was later replaced by Maanagaram fame Sundeep Kishan.

Naragasooran is being jointly funded by filmmaker Gautham Menon under his banner Ondraga Entertainment. Impressed by Karthick Naren’s debut movie Dhuruvangal 16, Gautham Menon offered to produce the 23 year old’s next.

The director has retained almost the same team of technicians for his new movie. Sujith Sarang will be cranking the camera while Sreejith Sarang in charge of the edits. Oppam and Maya fame Ron Ethan Yohaan has been roped in to handle the music department. Naragasooran is scheduled to start rolling in August this year.

The whole of South Indian film industry gathered yesterday in Hyderabad for the 64th Jio Filmfare Awards 2017. The event saw many leading stars walking the ramp while dancers set the stage on fire with some entertaining numbers.

Vishwavikhyatharaya Payyanmar new song released

Vishwavikhyatharaya Payyanmar is an upcoming movie starring Aju Varghese, Deepak Parambol, Bhagath Manuel, Harish Kayaran and Sudhi Koppa in the lead roles.

Rajesh Kannankara, who made his debut in 2011 through the Asif Ali starrer Ithu Nammude Katha, is directing this movie.

‘Nee En Nenjil Cherum’, a new song from the movie has been released. This romantic track is rendered by Najeem Arshad and composed by Vishal Arun Ram. Sasheendran Payyoli has written the song.

Vishwavikhyatharaya Payyanmar is an youthful entertainer. Director Rajesh has written the screenplay and dialogues for V Dileep’s story.

Tubelight has broken this Baahubali 2 record even before it’s release

SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali: The Conclusion, upon its release on April 28, shattered several pre-existing records in Indian cinema. The movie’s Hindi version alone has went well past Rs 500 crores and is already the highest grosser in Bollywood.

With Salman Khan’s much awaited movie Tubelight gearing up for release, talks are already on about it’s chances of toppling Baahubali 2. In what looks like the first of many to come, Tubelight has achieved the record of being the biggest ever release in India.

The SS Rajamouli directorial Baahubali 2 had released in around 9000 screens worldwide, with 6500 of it being in India. The movie also had 1100 screens in the US and 180 in Canada. Salman Khan’s Tubelight has bettered this record by getting around 9500-10000 screens worldwide. In India, the screen count remains the same with 6500 but it will get 330 screens in the US and 215 screens in UK alone. Tubelight will also be released in over 50 countries at the same time.

Tubelight is Salman Khan’s third movie with director Kabir Khan, after the blockbuster films Ek Tha Tiger (2012) and Bhajrangi Bhaijaan (2015). Tubelight is the official adaptation of the movie Little Boy. The movie is set against the backdrop of the 1962 Indo-Sino War. It will deal with the sufferings of residents at the time of the war period. Salman Khan’s brother Sohail Khan is playing a pivotal character in this movie. Another major highlight of Tubelight is Badshah Shah Rukh Khan’s cameo role. The movie is all set to hit theatres this Eid on June 23.

With Tubelight getting a bigger release than Baahubali 2, all eyes are now on the inital box office returns. Salman Khan with his massive fan base, that is spread all across the country, is certainly a threat for Baahubali 2’s box office records.

The massive success of Baahubali was a result of hardwork and dedication for over 5 years from the team. Anushka had a very meaty role in the movie for which she had set aside bulk dates from her busy schedule. She is the only actress to have worked with SS Rajamouli in two of his films; Vikramarkudu and the Baahubali franchise.

In a recent interview to a popular Malayalam magazine, Anushka opened up on her experience working with Rajamouli. The actress is very close to Rajamouli’s family and she is in awe of how the whole family works are focussed on the betterment of the movie.

Rajamouli, according to her, is a perfectionist. For instance, while shooting for Baahubali, Anushka had to go for 17 takes for a single scene. But she is quick to add that Rajamouli is a very patient and soft-spoken person who never loses his cool. He is also a very good tutor who tries his maximum to ensure that the artists have complete knowledge about the character they are playing.

Anushka Shetty’s next release will be be Bhagmati, a comic horror thriller directed by G Ashok. Shoot for this Telugu film has already been completed and the team is currently bust working on the post production.

Bhagmati stars Aadhi Pinisetty and Malayali actors Unni Mukundan, Jayaram and Asha Sarath in pivotal roles. To cash in on her popularity, the makers are dubbing it in Hindi, Tamil and Malayalam languages.

Anushka has also been approached to play the female lead in Prabhas’ next big budget movie Saaho. The actress was recently in Kerala for an Ayurvedic treatment to shed down the extra pounds she had gained for the bilingual movie Size Zero/Inji Iduppazhagi.
