Mohanlal in Prithviraj’s Tiyaan?

The multistarrer Tiyaan is gearing up for a wide release this Eid season. Tiyaan, one of the most awaited Malayalam movies of the year, is all set to hit screens on June 29. Brothers Prithviraj and Indrajith play the lead roles in the movie directed by Jiyen Krishnakumar. Murali Gopy, who has scripted the movie is playing a a pivotal part as well.

As per the latest reports, superstar Mohanlal is also part of this big budget movie. Mohanlal’s presence will be felt with his voice as the movie is narrated with his voice-over. Earlier this year, Mohanlal had also lent his voice for a prominent character in Manju Warrier’s C/O Saira Banu.

It is worth a mention that the Tiyaan team of Prithviraj and Murali Gopy will be working with Mohanlal next year for the much anticipated Lucifer. The movie, which will mark the directorial debut of Prithviraj, is scripted by Murali Gopy and stars Mohanlal in the lead role. Perhaps, that rapport has helped them to rope in Mohanlal to lend his voice for Tiyaan.

Tiyaan is said to be one of the most expensive Malayalam movies to have released till date. Apart from the three lead actors, the movie boasts of a stellar supporting cast that includes Padmapriya, Ananya North Indian actress Mrudula Sathe, veteran Bollywood actor Ranjeeth, Rahul Madhav, Shine Tom Chacko, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Prakash Bare and Paris Lakshmi among others.

Tiyaan is socio-political drama set in the North Indian milieu. It is the story of two youths who get caught in the religious clashes in North India. Prithviraj is playing the role of Aslan Mohammed and Indrajith’s character is named as Pattabhiraman. Murali Gopy will be seen in a new makeover as Ramkant Mahasay.

Tiyaan is produced by Haneef Mohammed of Red Rose Creations. They have invested around Rs 25 crores for the movie.

Major Ravi and Mammootty to team up!

Director Major Ravi’s last release was the Mohanlal starrer 1971 Beyond Borders. The movie starring Mohanlal in a dual role is the fourth in the Major Mahadevan series. During it’s theatrical run, the movie failed to create any sort of impact and ended up as a collosal disaster.

The latest we hear is that Major Ravi is planning to team up with Megastar Mammootty in the near future. As per reports, Mammootty is keen on doing an action movie with Major Ravi out of the usual army based films. The two have earlier worked together ten years back in Mission 90 Days.

The director, in his Facebook page, had recently posted a photo they had taken during the movie’s shoot and remarked that Mammootty looks the same even after ten years. This has apparently fuelled the speculations about the duo teaming up once again.

Mission 90 Days was Major Ravi’s second directorial venture after the blockbuster Keerthichakra. Eventhough the movie was not a commercial success, it is still considered as one of the best works of Major Ravi.

We had earlier told you that Major Ravi will be working on a romantic story with Nivin Pauly. This yet to be titled movie is said to be inspired from true events. Popular cinematographer Jomon T John is venturing into production through this movie. This movie will reportedly start rolling by the end of this year.

Mammootty meanwhile has a list of
movies in his kitty. He is currently shooting in Bangalore for ad filmmaker Sharrath Sandith’s debut directorial. He will be soon joining the final schedule of 7th Day fame Shyam Dhar’s upcoming family entertainer. This untitled movie is slated to hit screens for Onam. Cinematographer Shamdat’s debut directorial Streetlights is another movie in the pipeline. Scenarist Sethu’s debut directorial Kozhithankachan and Vysakh’s mass entertainer Raja 2 are some of the other movies in his kitty.

Anushka Shetty in Mohanlal’s Mahabaratha?

Anushka Shetty is currently one of the most wanted actress in India. The glorious success of Baahubali has widened her popularity all across the nation. Her fantastic performance as Devasena has won her scores of fans, who are eagerly looking forward to her upcoming films.

Reports are doing the rounds about the makers of the 1000 crore project Mahabharata approaching her to play a major role. Apparently, they are trying to rope in Anushka to play one of the central female characters from the Hindu epic.

Mohanlal is confirmed to play the central character of Bheeman in the movie. Telugu superstar Nagarjuna has been approached for the role of Karnan. Apart from them this ambitious project will also involve some other big names from India as well as the international arena.

The Mahabharata aka Randamoozham is being made as Indian cinema’s most expensive project. It will be made on an astronomical budget of Rs 1000 crores. Renowned ad filmmaker VA Shrikumar Menon will be directing this movie and UAE based Indian businessman Dr BR Shetty is producing this magnum opus.

Shoot for the movie will commence by August, next year. It will be made as a multilingual in Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil, Hindi and English languages. This epic movie will be filmed in two parts and would have a worldwide release in 2020.

Chunkzz making video goes trending!

Director Omar Lulu who shot to fame with his debut movie Happy Wedding, is busy with the final stage of post production works of his second directorial Chunkzz. His debut movie was a sleeper success which enjoyed a theatrical run of over 100 days. Just like Happy Wedding, Chunkzz also promises to be a fun filled entertainer.

The making video of this movie was released recently. The 3 minute video captures all the fun moments the team had while shooting for the film. If they are able to bring the same amount of fun and entertainment on screen, Chunkzz is a sure shot commercial hit.

Aanandam fame Vishak Nair, Balu Varghese, Ganapathi, Honey Rose, Mareena Michael and Dharmajan Bolgatty are playing the major roles in the movie. Chunkzz is story about a group of mechanical engineering students, essayed by Vishak Nair, Balu Varghese, Ganapathi and Dharmajan.

Honey Rose’s character Riya joins the mech department as the sole girl student. Riya is a troublemaker of sorts who manages to create a problem wherever she goes. She is kicked out of her college in Bangalore forcing her parents enroll her in a college in Kerala. Happy Wedding fame Mareena Michael is playing the character of Sherin, a DJ based in Bangalore. The movie’s plot evolves as the girls join the gang of boys on a trip to Goa. Veteran actors Siddique and Lal are also part of the cast.

Three newcomers Sanoop Thykoodam, Joseph Vijeesh and Aneesh Hameed have scripted this movie. They have jointly written the screenplay and dialogues for Omar Lulu’s story.

Gopi Sunder is handling the music department while Honey Bee fame Alby has cranked the camera. Dilip Dennis is in charge of the edits. The movie is produced by Vaishak Rajan under his banner Vaishaka Movies.

Dulquer Salmaan’s film on Sukumara Kuruppu is not fictional!

It was recently that Dulquer Salmaan took everyone by surprise by announcing his next, a movie based on the most wanted criminal Sukumara Kurup’s real life. Second Show fame Srinath Rajendran is directing this movie, first look poster of which was unveiled by Dulquer.

Sukumara Kurup is a notorious criminal, accused in the murder of Chacko in the year 1984. Chacko was strangled to death and his body was burnt inside a car. Sukumara Kurup, who was 38 then, allegedly committed the crime to fake his own death and claim an insurance amount of Rs 8 lakhs by killing Chacko who bore a resemblance with him. He is supposed to have fled abroad after the incident and has been absconding for over thirty years now. The Chacko murder case is one of the long standing cases in the judicial history of Kerala.

Ever since the movie was announced, social medias have been abuzz with discussions about how such a controversial subject will be brought on screen. Many have shown their dissent in glorifying a criminal’s life.

In a recent interview, director Srinath Rajendran revealed that the film is not a fictional story. It will discuss in depth about the life of Sukumara Kurup, the most notorious criminal the State has ever seen.

Eventhough there have been movies in the past based on Sukumara Kurup’s life, this upcoming movie will be an unique one. They are trying to bring several unexplored aspects of his life. It will be a story from a different perspective of his life, that most of us are unaware of.

The movie is scripted jointly by Jithin K Jose and Jishnu Sreekumar. The team have been involved in the research works for a long time. They are currently on the lookout for the rest of the cast and the locations.

This yet to be titled movie is scheduled to go on floors early next year.

Pulimurugan 3D version to be released in 100 centres in Kerala

After shattering multiple records in Mollywood, Mohanlal’s Pulimurugan has now been released in Tamil. The Tamil dubbed version was released on June 16 in 305 centres all over Tamil Nadu, which is the biggest ever release for a dubbed movie in the state.

Now, the movie’s 3D verison is also gearing up for release. Tamil 3D version is all set to be released in 60 screens across Tamil Nadu on Monday. Malayalam version’s 3D will also be releasing soon. Reportedly, the makers are trying to get over 100 screens for the 3D verison in Kerala.

Pulimurugan 3D recently entered the books of Guinness world records for the biggest screening of a 3D film. It was screened to nearly 20,000 viewers on April 12 at the Adlux Convention Center in Angamaly. It surpassed the previous record held by Hollywood movie Men in Black 3, which was viewed by 6,819 fans at Berlin’s O2 World.

Pulimurugan is currently the highest grossing Malayalam movie of all time after having done a worldwide business of over 150 crores. It was also dubbed and released in Telugu as Manyam Puli. The movie was received well by the Telugu audience and raked in a business of over Rs 15 crores.

Pulimurugan, written by Udhayakrishna was directed by Vysakh. The movie is produced by Tomichan Mulakupadam under the banner Mulakupadam Films. Pulimurugan has an universally appealing story about man vs wild. Mohanlal’s amazing action sequences and the scenes involving the tigers are the USP the movie. Mammootty’s next is a thriller based on real life incidents

Megastar Mammootty’s next with noted ad filmmaker Sharrath Sandith recently went on floors in Bangalore. As per reports, this movie is a thriller based on some real life incidents. The team will be shooting extensively in a jail and it’s premises.

This yet to be titled movie is Sharrath Sandith’s debut directorial eventhough he has been in the ad film industry for a long time now. Mammootty has worked with Sharrath in several ad films over the last decade, most popular being the ones for South Indian bank. The director has assured that his debut movie will have a classy presentation just like his ad films.

Mia George has been roped in to play one of the female leads. The makers are yet to finalise on the other heroine. More details regarding the other cast and crew members is expected to be announced in the coming days. The team is planning to complete the shoot in two schedules – 25 days in Bangalore and the rest in Kerala.

Mammootty, meanwhile has a slew of movies in his kitty. He has taken a schedule break from Rajadhiraja fame Ajai Vasudev’s Masterpice. The movie, scripted by Pulimurugan writer Udhayakrishna features Mammootty in the role of a college professor.

The second and final schedule of his upcoming family entertainer with 7th Day fame Shyam Dhar commenced last day in Idukki. This untitled movie is slated to hit screens for the Onam season.

Noted cameraman Shamdat Sainudeen’s debut directorial Streetlights is another movie in the pipeline. It is a crime thriller in which Mammootty will be seen as an investigative officer. The movie is being made as a bilingual in Tamil and Malayalam. It is funded by Mammootty’s own production house Playhouse Pictures.

Mohanlal’s Velipadinte Pusthakam not to release for this Onam season?

Shoot for Mohanlal’s upcoming movie Velipadinte Pusthakam is currently progressing in Trivandrum. The movie is directed by Lal Jose, marking his first time collaboration with the superstar.

Velipadinte Pusthakam, written by Benny P Nayarambalam is a campus based entertainer in which Mohanlal will be seen as a college vice principal. The movie will showcase the relationship between teachers and students.

Since Mohanlal and Lal Jose are teaming up after a long wait, expectations are certainly on the higher side. The movie was initally scheduled to release for this year’s Onam season but we now hear that the makers are planning to postpone the release for Pooja.

Mohanlal- B Unnikrishnan’s big budget crime thriller Villain, which was initally slated to hit screens on July 21 has now been pushed to August. Apparently, this is the reason behind the postponement of the Lal Jose directorial.

In Velipadinte Pusthakam, Mohanlal will be seen as professor Mathew Idicula. He is sporting a new look with long hair and closely trimmed beard. Angamaly Diaries fame Anna Reshma Rajan is the female lead.

Anoop Menon, Priyanka Nair, Angamaly Diaries fame Sarath Kumar, Aanandam fame Arun Kurian, Siddique, Jude Anthany Joseph, Alencier Ley Lopez and many other supporting actors are also part of the cast.

Pulimurugan’s Tamil version gets a better opening than the recent Tamil releases

Tamil version of Malayalam cinema’s biggest ever blockbuster Pulimurugan was released on June 16, Friday. The movie was released in 305 centres all over Tamil Nadu, which is the biggest ever release for a dubbed movie in the state.

According to latest reports from the Kollywood media, the movie has opened to very good opening at the Tamil Nadu box office. Interestingly, the Mohanlal starrer has got a better opening than the other Friday releases including Maragatha Naanayam and even higher than last week’s Friday release Sathriyan.

Pulimurugan has an universally appealing story about man vs wild. The movie is centred around the protagonist Murugan, who is known in the locality for hunting down man eating tigers. Since the plot is an universal one, it is easy for audience irrespective of any language to connect with the movie.

Tamil audience have particularly appreciated Mohanlal’s stellar performance in the action scenes. The fight scenes and the terrifically shot sequences involving the tigers are the movie’s major attractions. RP Bala has written the Tamil dialogues and interestingly, Mohanlal himself has dubbed in Tamil for the movie.

Last year, the Telugu version of Pulimurugan- Manyam Puli also emerged a big success. The movie did an overall business of over 15 crores from the twin states of Telengana and Andhra Pradesh.

Pulimurugan is produced by Tomichan Mulakupadam under the banner of Mulakupadam Films. The Malayalam verison written by Udhayakrishna and directed by Vysakh had a blockbuster run at the box office. It became the first Malayalam movie to cross the Rs 100 crore mark and ended it’s theatrical run with a worldwide business of around Rs 150 crores.
