Keerthy Suresh in Vikram’s Saamy 2

We had earlier reported that director Hari and Vikram are joining together for the sequel for their 2003 blockbuster movie Saamy. It was also reported that Trisha will be reprising her role from the original.

The latest bit of information we receive is that Malayali actress Keerthy Suresh is also playing one of the female leads in the movie. Keerthy is the current hot favourite in Kollywood. She has already acted with some of the leading stars like Vijay in Bairavaa and Sivakarthikeyan in Rajini Murugan and Remo. She is currently shooting for Suriya’s upcoming movie Thaana Serntha Koottam. This is indeed a golden period of her as she has now bagged a prestigious movie opposite Vikram.

Keerthy is also foraying into Telugu this year. She has been roped in to play the female lead in Powerstar Pawan Kalyan’s upcoming movie. She is also playing the lead in Mahanati, a biopic on legendary southern actress Savitri.

Mammootty’s next with Rajadhiraja fame Ajai Vasudev recently started rolling in Kollam. The movie is written by Udhayakrishna, who is fresh after scripting the all time blockbuster Pulimurugan.

We get an exclusive bit of time information that movie are planning to title the movie as Eddy. Apparently, Mammootty’s character in the movie is named as Eddy. The news is yet to be confirmed. An official announcement regarding the title is expected to be announced soon

The movie is a campus thriller featuring Mammootty as a strict college professor. According to the director, Mammootty’s role is a larger than life one. The movie revolves around events that turn out after such a professor lands in a college full of spoilt students.

Unni Mukundan and Kasaba fame Varalaxmi Sarathkumar will be seen as police officers in the movie. It has an ensemble cast that includes Gokul Suresh, Mahima Nambiar, Poonam Bajwa, Maqbool Salmaan, Mukesh, Captain Raju, Kalabhavan Shajon, Ganesh Kumar, Shivaji Guruvayoor, Santhosh Pandit and Salim Kumar among others. A new production house Royal Cinemas owned by CH Muhammed will be funding this movie.

Shaji Kumar, who handled the camera in Pulimurugan is the DOP. Anal Arasu will be choreographing the high octane stunt sequences in the movie. The movie is slated to hit screens by Onam this year.

Directed Lijo Jose Pellissery after the disappointing Double Barrel stormed the scene this year with Angamaly Diaries. The director, know for his penchant to try something unique in every movie of his, came with a story that explores the culture and lives of Angamaly and it’s natives.

Another interesting aspect of the movie was it had a rookie cast comprising around 85 newcomers. Upon release, Angamaly Diaries was lapped up by the audience and the critics alike. After a slow start, it soon picked up at the box office.

Thanks to the extensive promotions by the makers, the movie soon grabbed the attention of the audience outside Kerala. Celebrities including Mohanlal, Mammootty, Bollywood filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, Geetu Mohandas, Karthik Subbaraj and many others heaped praise on the movie. National medias also rated Angamaly Diaries as one of the finest Indian movies in recent years.

According to latest reports from trade sources, the movie has grossed around Rs 15.20 crores from the Kerala box office alone. With the all India collections and other rights, the overall business is estimated to be over Rs 20 crores.

Vijay Babu’s Friday Film House funded this film. Actor Chemban Vinod Jose debuted as a scenarist through Angamaly Diaries.

But he was quick to add that he is very big fan of the young sensation Dulquer Salmaan. Apparently, Rana and Dulquer know each other for a long time and the former is a very big fan of Dulquer’s acting. It is worth a mention that Rana played one of the major roles in the Tamil verison of Bangalore Days.

Meanwhile, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion been on a record breaking spree in the box office. The movie is getting unprecedented response all over the world. It has already crossed the 500 crore mark while also becoming the fastest Indian film to do so. The movie is expected to cross the 1000 mark in the coming days.

But not many know that the actor was almost bankrupt during the filming stages of Baahubali. Director SS Rajamouli revealed this bit of information during a recent interview. Prabhas had dedicated almost five years to focus entirely on Baahubali. He did not commit for any other movie during this period.

Prabhas had turned down several huge offers to concentrate solely on Baahubali. He even turned down a 10 crore offer for an advertisement.

Recently, a Telugu media had reported about the remuneration list of the actors in Baahubali. Lead actor Prabhas was paid Rs 25 crores while Rana Daggubati was paid Rs 15 crores. Tamannaah and Anushka was paid 5 crores each.

In a recent interview, Aparna Balamurali talked about the response she got for her perfomance in the movie. Veteran directors Sathyan Anthikad and Kamal had called and congratulated the actress. But she was on cloud nine when the next person called her. It was none other than Mohanlal.

The superstar lauded Aparna for her performance and wished her to do even better in the future. He also invited her for a lunch with him. Aparna in the interview said that she considers such moments equal to winning an Oscar award.

Kamal Haasan’s much awaited movie Vishwaroopam 2 is eyeing a grand release this year. The movie’s first look poster was released today. The poster features Kamal Haasan draped in the Indian national flag.

Vishwaroopam 2 has long been in the making. The movie was temporarily stalled due to some financial issues. Kamal Haasan recently announced that the post production works have been revived and the fans can expect it to release this year.

Interestingly, today happens to be the sixth death anniversary of dreaded terrorist Osama Bin Laden. His character is shown in the first part and hence it is hard to believe the first look poster release as just a coincidence.

The movie, written and directed by Kamal Haasan features him as a RAW agent. Rahul Bose, Andrea Jeremiah, Pooja Kumar and Shekhar Kapur will be reprising their roles from the first part. Unlike the first part which was set in the US, this film will be set majorly in India.

The technical team comprises of Malayali cinematographer Shamdat Sainudeen, Mahesh Narayanan and Ghibran. S Chandra Haasan and Kamal Haasan are funding this movie under the banner Raajkamal Films International.

Nivin Pauly’s first straight Tamil film Richie, directed by debutant Gautham Ramachandran is slated to release on May 12. It is the official remake of superhit Kannada movie, Ulidavaru Kandanthe.

The team had recently released a teaser revolving around Nivin Pauly’s character Richie. The teaser has taken social medias by storm, fetching a whopping 6.6 million views. It has been trending virally across all social media platforms.

The 54 second teaser features Nivin as a stylish bearded thug. His terrific screen presence reminds us of the famous Premam college fight sequence. The teaser has also set the Non Rajinikanth record for the most views in 24 hours time in Tamil cinema. Kabali holds the top position with five million views closely followed by Richie with 4.2 million views.

Richie is investigative thriller set in the coastal area. Natty, Prakash Raj, Shraddha Srinath, Lakshmi Priyaa Chandramouly and Elango Kumaravel are also part of the cast.

C/O Saira Banu starring Manju Warrier in the titular role hit screens on March 17. The movie opened to decent reviews with critics lauding the lead cast’s performances. Apart from Manju, Kismath fame Shane Nigam also played a pivotal character in the movie.

C/O Saira Banu was scripted by RJ Shaan and directed by debutant Antony Sony. Though the movie garnered decent reports, it failed to attract the audience to theatres.

According to reports from trade sources the film has managed to gross Rs 5.60 crores from it’s 45 days theatrical run in the Kerala box office. It has ended up as a failure in the box office but with all the other rights, the movie might end up in a safe zone.

C/O Saira Banu also marked the comeback of yesteryear actress Amala Akkineni to Mollywood after a gap of over two decades. She played the role of an advocate in the film. Eros International produced the movie.
