According to trustworthy sources, Dhyan has roped in Nivin Pauly and South India’s leading actress Nayanthara for his debut directorial. The two leading stars will be working together for the first time through this movie. This yet to be titled movie will go on floors in September. She was last seen in Malayalam last year in AK Sajan’s Puthiya Niyamam opposite Mammootty.

Our intention was not to vanquish Pulimurugan: Shaji Nadesan

Mammootty’s latest outing The Great Father continues to do good business in all the release centres. Producers of the movie August Cinema had released the collection reports of the movie. According to their reports, The Great Father had grossed Rs 4.31 crores on the opening day.

The Mammootty starrer has surpassed the records set by Rajinikanth’s Kabali and Mohanlal’s Pulimurugan to become the highest first day grosser in Kerala.

Following the reports released by August Cinema, Mohanlal fans alleged the figures to be bloated and questioned the authenticity of the reports. There were widespread allegations that the makers of The Great Father are trying to over hype the movie.

Shaji Nadesan, one of the producers in August Cinema in an exclusive chat with Onlookers Media said that they had no intention to vanquish Pulimurugan or it’s records.

He said, “As a Malayalam cinema lover I am proud of the achievements of Pulimurugan. We have all been watching Mohanlal and Mammootty’s movies from our childhood. Like others I was also excited to see Pulimurugan reaping such big success because Tamil and Hindi movies have been raking in crores from Kerala for many years now. We highlighted The Great Father surpassing Kabali and not Pulimurugan. Ours is not a movie that was made like Pulimurugan. We shot with a very small budget on a small scale. There was a gap of nearly six months before Mammookka’s last release and he hasn’t had a genuinely good movie for sometime now. All that increased the hype surrounding The Great Father. There was no intention to subdue Pulimurugan.”

The movie, directed by debutant Haneef Adeni is a revenge thriller featuring Mammootty in the lead role as David Ninan. Arya, Sneha, Baby Anikha, Mia George, Shaam and Malavika Mohanan are also part of the cast.

National Awards based on friendship? Priyadarshan responds to allegations

The 64th National Film Awards were announced recently. To everyone’s surprise Akshay Kumar won the best actor award for his performance in Rustom. The jury’s decision to snub fantastic performances by actors like Manoj Bajpai (Aligarh), Nawazuddin Siddiqui (Raman Raghav 2.0) and Aamir Khan (Dangal) were questioned by man.

Jury chairperson Priyadarshan was at the receiving end of all the criticisms after many alleged that Akshay won the award because of his proximity to Priyadarshan. Mohanlal, also a very close friend of the director, won the special jury award for his performance in Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol, Janatha Garage and Pulimurugan. Social media users mocked Priyadarshan for favouring his friends while helming such a prestigious position.

The director has now responded back to the allegations. He asked why people didn’t question about Amitabh Bachchan winning the award when Ramesh Sippy was the jury chairman.

I have heard of all that and I will answer it in a simple way. When Ramesh Sippy was jury head Amitabh Bachchan won. When Prakash Jha was head of jury, Ajay Devgn won. So none questioned at that time. So why all these questions are cropping up today,” said Priyadarshan

Priyadarshan also clarified that Akshay Kumar’s performance in both Rustom and Airlift were considered by the jury during the selection process. However, according to the rules only the name of one film could be mentioned. That’s how they selected Rustom.

It’s worth mentioning that Priyadarshan has worked with Akshay Kumar in 6 films like Hera Pheri, Garam Masala, Bhagam Bhaag, Bhool Bhulaiya, De Dana Dan and Khatta Meetha.

What happened to me can happen to anyone else: Bhavana

Actress Bhavana is back on her feet after going through a horrendous phase in the past few months. She was abducted and assaulted on a movie vehicle in Kochi. The incident sent shock waves across the society. The courage she showed to file a case against the perpetrators without fearing the media and her image getting ruined was appreciated.

Recently while talking to media, Bhavana urged assault victims to forget about it as a bad dream and put up a brave face. She said, “Being a popular celebrity I had this firm belief that no one would dare to touch my body without my permission. But I have now realized about it. If such a thing can happen to me, it can happen to anyone else. Likewise, if I can report such an incident, everyone should be able to do it. Why should we let the perpetrators go free? Those who dare to commit such heinous crimes should feel humiliated and not the victims.

Bhavana recently got engaged to her long time beau and Kannada producer Naveen. She is currently busy with her professional life with a handful of exciting projects in her kitty. She recently wrapped up her portions for the first schedule of her upcoming Malayalam movie Adam Joan, starring Prithviraj in the title role. Puthan Panam trailer trending in social medias

Mammootty- Ranjith team’s upcoming movie Puthan Panam is slated to hit screens all over Kerala on April 12. The movie’s official trailer was released recently to excellent response from the viewers. The trailer has been trending virally in social medias. It has fetched more than 15 lakh views in 19 hours time.

Puthan Panam team had earlier released two very contrasting teasers. One of them showed Mammootty with a gun and the other showed his lighter side with a young boy. With the new trailer, the movie has definitely piqued the curiosity of the audience.

From the trailer we can make out that Puthan Panam is based on the concept of demonetisation. The movie will be a different perspective on director Ranjith’s National award winning movie Indian Rupee.

We believe that Mammootty is playing a grey shaded role in the movie. His character Nithyananda Shenoy seems to work as a high profile middle man involved in money laundering. His terrifically enunciated Kasaragod slang is the major highlight of the trailer.

The movie marks the reunion ace filmmaker Ranjith with Mammootty after a brief gap. The duo have earlier teamed up for some highly acclaimed movies and hence expectations are on the higher side for Puthan Panam.

Ineya, Sheelu Abraham, Siddique, Sai Kumar, Renji Panicker, Harish Kanaran, Mamukoya and many others will be seen in supporting roles.

Puthan Panam is produced by 3 Color Cinemas, a new production company jointly owned by Abraham Mathew, director Ranjith and actor Arun Narayan.
