I was excited to the core when Ranjith sir asked me to compose music for Puthan Panam : Shaan Rahman

One of the most anticipated movies of the year, Puthan Panam is gearing up for release for this Vishu season. The movie marks the reunion of Mammootty with director Ranjith. Since the ace filmmaker is joining hands with Mammootty after a gap, expectations are naturally on the higher side.

For Puthan Panam, it seems like director Ranjith wanted to work with a technical team that he hasn’t worked before. Kollywood cinematographer Om Prakash, who was worked in movies like Maari and Kaashmora, is cranking the camera.

One of the leading composers in Mollywood, Shaan Rahman has composed two songs for the movie. Shaan Rahman is normally associated with youthful and vibrant movies like Thattahin Marayathu, Om Shanti Oshana etc. And so the director has piqued the curiosity of the audience by roping in Shaan to compose songs for the movie.

Recently while talking to Onlookers Media, Shaan Rahman shared about how he landed in the project and his excitement working with Ranjith.

He said, “One fine day, I was called by production controller Biju with whom I have worked before in Ormayundo Ee Mukham. He told me that Ranjith sir wanted to meet me. I was wondering why he wanted to me and all sorts of speculations started cropping up in my mind. I went to the location and met him, when he asked me if I could compose two songs for Puthan Panam. I was more than excited to hear that and readily agreed to do it. But, I could not do the background score as I was busy with the works of Godha, my dream project.”

Puthan Panam will have two tracks, an energetic song written by BK Harinarayanan and another one, which is a travel song, written by Rafeeq Ahmed. The energetic track is sung by Vineeth Sreenivasan and the travel song is rendered by Gourilakshmi.

In Puthan Panam, Mammootty is playing the role of a mysterious rich man, Nityananda Shenoy. The movie will be discussing about the current financial situation and shed light on the black money circulation in the country. It will be a socially relevant movie, on the lines of Ranjith’s National award winning movie Indian Rupee.

The movie features Ineya and Sheelu Abraham as the female leads. Siddique, Sai Kumar, Renji Panicker, Mamukoya, Harish Kanaran, Aanandam fame Vishak Nair, Ganapathy and many others will be seen in supporting roles.

Puthan Panam is produced by 3 Color Cinemas, a new production company jointly owned by Abraham Mathew, director Ranjith and actor Arun Narayanan.
