Nivin Pauly and Major Ravi to team up for a romantic entertainer

Major Ravi is known for his military based movies and action entertainers. However, the director is now trying his hand in a genre that we normally don’t associate with him, romance.

Yes, Major Ravi is teaming up with an young star who has aced in this particular genre, Nivin Pauly. The director himself confirmed this in a recent interview to a national daily.

According to the director, the movie will be a love story based on true incidents. The basic theme is that love always wins because you are ready to do anything for it. This yet to be titled movie will have a huge star cast and will be made on a big budget. A new face will play the female lead and the team is currently on the lookout for a suitable girl. They are planning to start the movie by the end of the year.

Jomon T John, who had worked with Major Ravi in Prithviraj’s Picket 43 has been roped in as the DOP. Gopi Sunder will handle the music department.

Major Ravi’s next release is 1971 Beyond Borders, starring superstar Mohanlal in the lead role. It is the fourth movie in the Major Mahadevan series. Mohanlal is playing a dual role in this war drama which also features Arunoday Singh and Allu Sirish in pivotal roles. The movie is scheduled to hit screens on April 7.

Nivin Pauly meanwhile is awaiting the release of his much anticipated political drama Sakhavu, directed by national award winner Sidharth Siva. Apart from the Major Ravi project, he has committed for another love story, titled as Hey Jude. The movie will be directed by ace filmmaker Shyamaprasad and will mark the debut of popular actress Trisha in Mollywood.

Shane Nigam, the youngster who moved the audience with his tear jerking performance in last year’s critically acclaimed movie Kismath, will be next seen in C/O Saira Banu.

Shane is playing a major role in the movie alongside veterans Manju Warrier and Amala Akkineni. The movie, directed by Antony Sony is all set to hit screens on March 17

Shane Nigam’s performance in Kismath garnered widespread appreciation from the critics and the audience. Kismath was a comparatively smaller movie with a lesser known cast and crew. It is a story about a Muslim boy who falls in love with an elderly Hindu dalit girl.

Shane and Shruthi Menon played the lead roles in the movie, directed by Shanavas K Baavakutty. Kismath was critically acclaimed and was screened at last year’s IFFK. The director recently won the Kerala State Award for best debut director.

Shane’s performance in the movie grabbed the attention of the audience. He was also seen in a brief role in Rajeev Ravi’s Kammattipadam. Shane is one of the most promising new-gen actors currently in Mollywood. Soubin Shahir’s debut directorial Parava is another project in his kitty.

C/O Saira Banu stars Manju Warrier in the title character, as a post woman. Yesteryear actress Amala Akkineni is playing the role of advocate Annie John Tharavady. She is making a comeback to Mollywood after a gap of 25 long years through this movie.

The movie promises to be a feel good entertainer dealing with a mother-son relationship. RJ Shaan has scripted the movie and the dialogues are written by Bibin Chandran.

Abdul Rahim has handled the camera while Sagar Dass is in charge of the edits. Mejo Joseph is the music director. Eros International has bank rolled the movie.

Roopesh Peethambaran is currently basking in the glory of Oru Mexican Aparatha, which marked his comeback to acting after over two decades. The long gap did not have any sort of impact on the fine actor that he is which he proved with his performance in Oru Mexican Aparatha.

Roopesh Peethambaran played the prime antagonist in the movie. As they say, the protagonist becomes stronger and powerful only when the antagonist is as good as him. Same is the case in Oru Mexican Aparatha where Roopesh Peethambaran had a solid and well sketched character. He has been getting good reviews from critics for his performance.

The actor has found a new admirer in one of the leading actors in Mollywood, Prithviraj Sukumaran. Recently, Prithviraj in his Facebook post had written high about the performances of Neeraj Madhav and Roopesh Peethambaran.

As we all know, Roopesh Peethambaran is also a filmmaker who has two movies to his credit, Theevram with Dulquer Salmaan and a multistarrer You Too Brutus. In a recent interview, while talking about professionalism in the film industry, Roopesh Peethambaran quoted an example of how professional Prithviraj was in his selection and while dealing with filmmakers.

Apparently, Roopesh Peethambaran had approached Prithvi for a movie in 2015. The actor said that he had no dates for the next three years. So Roopesh Peethambaran told him that there is no hurry and he will wait. Prithvi was impressed with the story and went through the script within a week. He later suggested a few changes to Roopesh.

Even after two years, Roopesh Peethambaran is still working on it. Recently, when the two met, Prithviraj enquired about the progress in scripting. So, we believe that the two will be teaming up soon for a movie. Prithviraj meanwhile has a long line up of movies in his kitty, so it is still uncertain whether he will be able to squeeze in dates for another movie. Before jumping into conclusions, let’s wait for an official confirmation.

The character Vaishali will still be a haunting figure for many. She was neglected by her own people after she successfully brought Rishyashrungan and their kingdom was blessed with rain. Have you ever thought that the people should be punished for abandoning Vaishali?

A budding writer Jenith Kachappilly has done the same through his powerful words. Jenith had earlier written a book called Kadhayillatha Kadhakal. Samrajyangal Asthamikkumbol, a story about Vaishali was one of the chapters in that book. Unfortunately, Vaishali was neglected again, but this time by the editor.

However, Jenith held the story close to him and it is now being published as a graphic story in Manorama Online. Jenith Kachappilly, who is also a filmmaker presents his work as a tribute to the legendary writer MT Vasudevan Nair and Vaishali. Artist Pavi Sankar has breathed life into Jenith’s words through his drawings.

Tovino Thomas is currently on a high after the blockbuster success of his latest release Oru Mexican Aparatha (OMA). Director of Oru Mexican Aparatha, Tom Emmatty and Tovino Thomas will be teaming up again next year.

While Oru Mexican Aparatha was a campus political drama, the new movie will be a big budget period drama. The movie which is tentatively titled as Hano will be based on a true story that happened in 1520.

The director in a recent interview revealed that the movie is based on a story about an elephant and its mahout who were sent from Kochi to the Vatican. Tovino is playing the role of a mahout in the movie.

Hano is being planned as a 3D film and will be made as a multilingual in Malayalam, Italian and Portuguese languages. Scripting has already been completed. The director and his team are currently scouting for suitable locations.

Manu Jagadh, who has worked as an art director in Baahubali, has been roped in to head the art department to recreate the 1500s setting. Hano is expected to go on floors by next year. The movie will reportedly be bank rolled by a foreign production company.

Hano is Tovino’s second big budget movie in the pipeline. He has already committed for Chengazhi Nambiyar is a period drama which will be directed by creative director and VFX supervisor Sidhil Subramanian.

The movie is based on the life of Chengazhi Nambiar, Chandroth Panicker and many other historical figures who fought against Samoothiri in Maamaankam in 1505 AD.

Tovino is playing the role of Puthumana Panicker in this movie. The team has not yet released details about the other cast members. It is also being planned as a multilingual in all major Indian languages. Top stars from other industries are rumoured to be part of the movie.

Baahubali 2 trailer release date announced

Director SS Rajamouli has announced the release date of the highly anticipated trailer of Baahubali: The Conclusion. The trailer will be released on March 16, morning in selected theatres in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The trailer will be released in internet on the same day between 5 pm and 6 pm on March 16.

Baahubali 2 is the sequel to Baahubali : The Beginning, the all time blockbuster that was released in 2015. The first part was a countrywide blockbuster registering a business of over 600 crores .

The sequel in currently it’s final stages of post production. It is scheduled to release on April 28. The movie will release in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi simultaneously.

Expectations are sky-high for the new movie. It has already made some unprecedented pre-release business for a South Indian movie. It has been widely reported that the film has done a business of more than Rs 500 crores prior to the release.

Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Ramya Krishnan, Anushka Shetty, Sathyaraj and Nasser are part of the cast. The movie is produced by Shobu Yarlagadda and Prasad Devineni under the banner Arka Works.

Megastar Mammootty’s highly anticipated movie, The Great Father is all set to hit screens on March 30. The movie is written and directed by debutant Haneef Adeni.

The Great Father is perhaps the most hyped Mammootty starrer in recent memory. Right from the time the first look posters were released, the movie has hogged the limelight with regular updates.

With the motion poster and teaser becoming such a sensational success, expectations have reached sky high for The Great Father. The megastar’s fans have also decided to celebrate the release like never before.

A record size cut-out will be set up in Sreekumar Theatre complex in Thiruvananthapuram. 80% of the expense for the cut out will be taken care by the Mammootty fans of Forum Keralam, Nissam Vallakadavu and Godwin.The cut out will be set up by the Mammootty Fans and Welfare Association International. They are also spending the remaining 20% of the expense.

Mammootty’s character in TGF is named as David Ninan. The actor is seen at his stylish best for the character wearing jackets, shades and sporting an uber cool beard, which is already a trend with the youngsters.

The movie has an ensemble star cast in Kollywood star Arya, Sneha, Shaam, Malavika Mohanan, IM Vijayan, Kammatipadam fame Manikandan Achari and Baby Anikha.

Gopi Sunder is composing the music while Noufal Abdulla has handled the cuts. Roby Varghese Raj has wielded the camera for this movie. August Cinemas, owned by Prithviraj Sukumaran, Santhosh Sivan, Arya and Shaji Natesan have produced this movie.

Shoot for Gautham Vasudev Menon’s next with Vikram titled as Dhruva Natchathiram is currently progressing at a brisk pace in Ooty and New Delhi. Jomon T John, one of the most talented cinematographers in Mollywood, was the the DOP of the movie. However, he has now been replaced by Santhana Krishnan due to some unknown reasons.

Jomon T John, a Kerala State Award winner has carved a niche for himself with his stunning works in movies like Ayalum Njaanum Thammil, Ennu Ninte Moideen, Charlie etc.

A 2 minute teaser of Dhruva Natchathiram was released few days back to astounding response from the viewers. The teaser was shot completely in the US with a Canon 5D camera in a matter of just 14 hours. The visuals had a truly international appeal with some candid shots that we get to see mostly in western movies.

Jomon is also the DOP for Gautham Menon’s next release Enai Nokki Payum Thotta with Dhanush and Megha Akash in the lead. He last worked in Mollywood for Vineeth Sreenivasan’s superhit movie Jacobinte Swargarajyam.

Dhruva Natchathiram is a spy thriller in which Vikram is reportedly playing a RAW agent. According to the director, the movie will have some high octane action sequences shot on an international scale.

One of the biggest hits in Mollywood in the past decade, Premam is getting an animated version. Yes, an animated version of the romantic blockbuster Premam is under progress. But what’s interesting is that it is made by a fan, Faizal Mohammed.

Trailer for the animated version was released yesterday in YouTube. It has been trending virally in social media platforms. The trailer visuals mostly comprise of the George- Malar portions in the college.

Premam, released in 2015 was a massive blockbuster not only in Kerala. The movie had a record 250 days theatrical run in Chennai. Nivin Pauly rose to stardom with Premam and the actor enjoys a huge fan base in Tamil Nadu as well.

Directed by Alphonse Puthren, the movie is a coming of age love story that showcased the three stages of the lead character George. Debutantes Anupama Parameswaran, Sai Pallavi and Madonna Sebastian essayed the three female leads.

Premam was a sensational success. It gave a big break to the Aluva gang of Krishna Shankar, Shabareesh Varma, Sharafudheen and Siju Wilson. Music for the movie was composed by Rajesh Murugesan and cinematography was handled by Anend C Chandran.

Tovino Thomas’s latest release Oru Mexican Aparatha has opened to huge numbers in the box office. The movie, released on March 3 has got an excellent response from the audience especially from the youth.

Oru Mexican Aparatha, directed by debutant Tom Emmatty is a campus political drama featuring Tovino Thomas, Neeraj Madhav, Roopesh Peethambaran and Gayathri Suresh in major roles.

Prithviraj Sukumaran has congratulated the team of Oru Mexican Aparatha for their success. The actor has written in his Facebook page that he is very happy to see the growth of Tovino Thomas. His post in Facebook reads,

“..And a big congrats to the team of “Oru Mexican Apaaratha” for the big success. Tovino..super happy for you brother..and thrilled to see your growth as an actor/star!!! Way to go!!! ?”

Tovino Thomas and Prithviraj have acted together in three movies including the latest release Ezra. Tovino Thomas played a brief cameo ACP Shafeer, an investigative officer in Ezra. He has also shared screen space with Prithvi in 7th Day and Ennu Ninte Moideen.

Tovino won rave reviews for his portrayal of Perumpparambil Appu in Ennu Ninte Moideen (ENM) Interestingly, it was Prithviraj who suggested Tovino for the role after being impressed with his performance in 7th Day. ENM was a big break in Tovino’s career.

Recently, Prithviraj had also written high about Lijo Jose Pellissery’s Angamaly Diaries, which was released alongside OMA. It is heartening to see a leading star like Prithviraj encouraging youngsters wholeheartedly.
