Kerala Box Office : Fukri Collection Report 21 Days

Jayasurya’s latest release Fukri failed to impress the viewers with an age old script and presentation. The movie directed by veteran filmmaker Siddique could not create any sort of impact in the box office.

Fukri has grossed Rs 8.93 crore from the 21 days theatrical run in Kerala. After the tax cut down, the net collections amount to Rs 7.19 crores and the producer’s share is just 3.90 crores. Fukri is a big budget movie, so the producer will have his profit only through the satellite and other rights.

The movie was severely affected by the negative reviews from the critics. Lack of novelty in the plot and freshness in treatment backfired for the movie.

The movie had an ensemble star cast in veteran actors Lal and Siddique, Prayaga Rose Martin and Happy Wedding fame Anu Sithara, KPAC Lalitha, Bhagath Manuel, Nirmal Palazhi and many others.

Director Siddique forayed into production through Fukri. Jenso Jose, Vaishak Rajan and Siddique jointly bank rolled the movie under the banner S Talkies.

Kerala Box Office : Singam 3 Collection Report 15 Days

Suriya’s latest release Singam aka Si3 has entered it’s third week of theatrical run in Kerala. The movie is still being screened in a reasonable number of screens in the State.

The movie was opened to mixed reviews with critics pointing out the usual masala formula as a let down. Singam 3, the third installment in the popular Singam franchise is also directed by Hari.

At the end of 15 days theatrical run, the movie has grossed Rs 8.18 crores. The net amount is around 6.58 crores while its share amount is nearly Rs 3.30 crores.

Suriya has a large fan base in Kerala but the movie has failed to impress the common audience. Also three Malayalam movies, Jomonte Suvisheshangal, Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol and Ezra are doing great business in Kerala. That has diminished the chances of Singam 3 to become a successful venture in Kerala.

Si3 feature Suirya once again in khakis as the fierce and forthright cop Durai Singam. The movie stars two female leads in Singam regular Anushka Shetty and Shruthi Haasan. North Indian actor Anoop Thakur Singh has played the antagonist in the movie. Radhika Sarathkumar, Vijayakumar, Radha Ravi, Soori, Krish, Nithin Sathya, Robo Shankar and Chaams are also part of the cast. Music for the movie is composed by Harris Jayaraj.

He declared that he will not be acting in any such movies hereafter. But he was quick to add that being an actor he might have to act in grey shaded roles that demand such traits, but he will make sure those characters are not glorified.

He wrote, “And to those voices I apologize..for at an age and time when I wasn’t wise enough..I have been part of films that celebrated misogyny..I have mouthed lines that vilified regard for your self respect and I have taken a bow to the claps that ensued. NEVER AGAIN..never again will I let disrespect for women be celebrated in my movies! Yes..I’m an actor and this is my craft! I will whole heartedly trudge the grey and black with characters that possess unhinged moral compasses…but I will never let these men be glorified or their actions justified on screen.

Later in the day, the attacked actress resumed her work by joining the sets of Prithviraj’s upcoming movie Adam. Prithviraj requested the media to disperse and not to create an uncomfortable atmosphere for his co-star who is returning back to work after a tragic incident.

Angamaly Diaries is not really a ‘katta local’ movie

Lijo Jose Pellissery’s Angamaly Diaries is gearing up for release on March 3. The movie features 85 new comers including the leading actors. The makers have used the tagline ‘oru katta local padam‘ in all the promos and posters.

However, in reality Angamaly Diaries is not a local movie. Normally, movies with newcomers are made with a shoestring budget but Angamaly Diaries is an exception. While talking to Onlookers Media, the makers informed us that the production value of the movie is equal to any other ordinary star vehicle. The audience will get to know the reason behind it only when we watch the movie.

Lijo Jose Pellissery is known for his unique filmmaking style and treatment. All his movies are like chalk and cheese with no such similarities. He consciously stays from the usual commercial formula and tries to incorporate something novel in all his movies. So the expectation levels for this movie is high among the cine buffs of the state.

Actor Chemban Vinod Jose is debuting as a screen writer through this movie, which is said to be inspired from an original story. From what we saw in the trailer, we suppose it will be a realistic gangster drama revolving around a group of youngsters from Angamaly.

Girish Gangadharan, noted for his work in movies like Neelakasham Pachakadal Chuvanna Bhoomi, Kali and Guppy has wielded the camera in this movie. Charlie fame Shameer Muhammed is the editor. Prashanth Pillai, a regular in Lijo Jose Pellissery movies, has composed the music. Interestingly, the movie has nine tracks. Two of them have already been released and are trending in social media pages.

Friday Film House, one of the very few production companies who have supported youngsters, is funding this movie.

Vijay Yesudas to play the lead in an upcoming Tamil movie

Popular playback singer Vijay Yesudas is all set to play the lead role in an upcoming Tamil movie. The movie titled as Padai Veeran, will be directed by Dhana who is a former associate of Mani Ratnam.

Vijay Yesudas was last seen as an actor in Dhanush’s Maari where he played the antagonist’s part as a cop. Padai Veeran is a rustic rural entertainer. The movie is set in the Theni Kambam area. Vijay apparently signed the project after he was impressed by the storyline. Legendary director Bharathiraja and Vijay will be seen playing the major roles in the movie. Karthik Raja will compose the the music for the film.

In an interview to the Times of India, Vijay said that he has done a lot of homework to play the character in Padai Veeran.

What attracted me was not the fact that I was playing the lead, but the story. It sounded nice and different. It was the experience I was looking at, not like I would be entering another level by playing a lead. The character demanded a lot of work and I went all out to play the role,” he said.

The team is planning to release the movie in March.
