Prithviraj’s latest release Ezra continues to do great business in the box office. The movie registered the best ever opening for a Prithviraj starrer. Most weekend shows are running to houseful shows with packed audience.

Meanwhile, the song Lailakame from the movie has fetched more than 30 lakh views in YouTube. It was released in the Malayalam Muzik247 YouTube channel on December 3. Rahul Raj has composed the song for BK Harinarayanan’s lyrics. Haricharan has sung this soulful romantic track. The 4 minute song shows how Ranjan Abraham and Priya fell in love and got hitched all in a capsule form. The endearing chemistry between the couple with the beautiful Mumbai city as the backdrop is captured splendidly in the song.

Ezra was released outside Kerala in 154 screens on February 17. The movie also marked the biggest ever release for a Malayalam movie outside Kerala. It was released in UAE in centers like Dubai, Ajman, Abu Dhabi and Fujairah.

Popular actress Priya Anand made her Mollywood debut through this movie. Tovino Thomas, Sudev Nair, Babu Antony, Sujith Shankar, debutante Ann Sheetal, Vijayaraghavan and Bharath Dabholkar have played supporting characters.

Mukesh R. Mehta, C. V. Sarathy and A. V. Anoop have jointly produced the movie under the banners of E4 Entertainment and AVA Productions.

We had earlier in the day reported that, the popular actress subjected to assault in Kochi, has returned back to shoot today. She joined the sets of Prithviraj’s upcoming movie Adam, which went on floors today.

Earlier in the day, Prithviraj had requested the media to avoid any sort of ambushing and flocking when she arrives for shoot. This gesture by the actor garnered widespread appreciation from celebrities and social media users. Actress Manju Warrier has written a post in her Facebook page, appreciating Prithviraj and her dear friend who is slowly returning back to normal life.

Manju praised her friend’s decision to return back to work after the dreadful incident and called her come back as the strongest message one could ever give to the society. The actress appreciated Prithviraj for standing by her friend from the very first day and hoped that she will be safe and comfortable with Prithvi and team.

Manju added that, like others she is also looking forward to watch her friend shine with more grace on screen.

Adam marks the debut directorial of screenwriter Jinu Abraham. The movie features Bollywood actress Mishti Chakraborty as Prithviraj’s pair. Bhavana will be seen in an equally prominent role. Narain and Rahul Madhav are also playing pivotal characters in the movie. Major portions of the movie will be filmed in Scotland.

Director Rajasenan has written a Facebook post to clear airs about certain reports that alleged about an existing tension between him and actor Jayaram.

In his post he has written that he never had a bad relationship with Jayaram. In his 37 movies, 16 of them had Jayaram in the lead roles. According to the director, 14 of them were superhit successes and the remaining two were average grossers. During that period itself, there were several instances where people tried to ruin their relationship. The director admits that they even had a period of cold war between them before Suresh Gopi intervened and solved the issue. They once again teamed up for Madhuchandralekha in 2006, but again after the shoot there were many false reports about their fall out. Recently, some posts claiming to be written by Rajasenan are doing the rounds in social medias. The director has completely dismissed it and said he has written anything like that. Rajasenan added that cinema is his life and that with God’s grace he will certainly comeback even more strongly.

Some of Rajsenen’s superhit movies with Jayaram are Adhyathe Kanmani, Meleparambil Aanveedu, Kottaram Veettile Apputtan, The Car, Aniyan Bava Chettan Bava, Dilliwala Rajakumaran, Kadinjool Kalyanam, Ayalathe Adheham, Malayali Mamanu Vanakkam etc.

Great opening for Veeram in the box office

Director Jayaraj’s highly anticipated epic historic drama Veeram was finally released yesterday. The movie is an adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Macbeth. It is the fifth installment in director Jayaraj’s Navarasa series.

While taking to Onlookers Media, the makers have informed that Veeram has taken a great opening in the box office. Most of the shows in multiplexes are running with houseful audience. The three day long weekend will also help the movie in a registering a good initial collection.

Veeram features Bollywood actor Kunal Kapoor in the lead role of Chandu Chekavar, a warrior from the Vadakkan Pattukal of North Malabar region in Kerala.

Though the lead actors in movie are non Malayalis, the movie had great hype prior to the release. The impressive promos that were promoted by Bollywood superstars and the sheer scale of the movie heightened the expectations of the audience. It was earlier screened at film festivals like BRICS Film Festival and IFFI, Goa.

Kunal Kapoor worked hard for months to develop a warrior’s physique in addition to learning sword fight and the martial art, Kalaripayattu for playing his part in the movie.

Technical standards of the movie were top notch. Critics have appreciated the makers for planning something of this sort on a big canvas. Allan Poppleton, who has worked in Hollywood films like Lord of the Rings and Avatar has choreographed the stunts in the movie.

Award winning composer Jeff Rona, who was an associate of the legendary Hans Zimmer, is handling the music department. Oscar and Emmy award winning make-up artist Trefor Proud is also part of the technical team of Veeram. Veteran cinematographer S Kumar has cranked the camera while Appu N Bhattathiri handled the edits.

Chandramohan Pillai and Pradeep Rajan of Chandrakala Arts jointly produced this big budget movie.

However, the talented singer has now backed out of the marriage after some unacceptable demands from Santhosh’s family. Santhosh had asked her not to participate any musical programmes after marriage instead asked her to work as a teacher in any music college.

Santhosh initially had also accepted to stay in Vijayalakshmi’s home after marriage but has now informed her that they will be moving to a relative’s house after marriage. Their marriage was scheduled to be held on March 29.

Lijo Jose Pellissery’s Angamaly Diaries is gearing up for release on March 3. Final post production works for the movie was completed today in Chennai.

Angamaly Diaries features around 85 newcomers. Almost all the major characters are played by newbies. Actor Chemban Vinod Jose is debuting as a scriptwriter through this movie. It is said to be based on an original story and from what we saw in the trailer, it is a realistic gangster drama revolving around a group of youngsters from Angamaly.

Lijo Jose Pellissery is known for his unique presentation style. He consciously stays from the usual commercial formula and has tried to bring freshness in treatment in all his movies. His movies like, City of God, Amen and Double Barrel were all entirely different from the usual run of the mill kind.

This time also the director has tried a different style of treatment. The climax scene in Angamaly Diaries is a 11 minute long sequence involving around 1000 artists. The team shot the entire sequence in a single shot after repeated attempts. The director himself shared this news through a live chat with his followers in Facebook.

Girish Gangadharan, noted for his work in movies like Neelakasham Pachakadal Chuvanna Bhoomi, Kali and Guppy has handled the camera in this movie. Charlie fame Shameer Muhammed is the editor. Prashanth Pillai, a regular in Lijo Jose Pellissery movies, has composed the music. The movie has nine tracks. Two songs that were officially released by the makes are trending in social media pages.

The popular actress who was assaulted in a moving car in Kochi, is returning back to work today, leaving behind the scars of the incident. She has taken an inspiring decision to resume shooting hardly after a week from the incident. Appreciation has been pouring in for the actress from all corners.

She will be shooting alongside Prithviraj for the movie titled as Adam. The movie, which marks the debut of screenwriter Jinu Abraham, went on floors today in Kochi.

Media had flocked the shooting spot to catch a glimpse of the actress and if possible get an exclusive interview. However, Prithviraj stepped in and requested the media to kindly stop the coverage when she arrives.

He said, “This is a request on behalf of myself, the girl and my colleagues to all my media friends out here. There should not be any kind of media ambush when she arrives at the shooting location. But I believe the media friends here are courteous enough to give her due respect. Let her talk to you whenever she feels comfortable, I am not someone who should comment on that. I urge you all not to create an uncomfortable atmosphere here when she arrives.”

1) Pulimurugan

Pulimurugan, apart from being a superstar vehicle, was a revelation in Malayalam cinema. The technical values used in the movie was something unseen in our industry. When dealing with a man vs wild story, there is huge responsibility on the shoulders of the technical team. There is only a thin line and even the slightest of mistakes would have affected the totality of the movie. Within the budget constraints of our industry, Pulimurugan team delivered a visual treat for the audience. The huge success of Pulimurugan has inspired many producers in Mollywood to come forward and invest in big budget movies. Pulimurugan showed that with the right technicians and a popular star, big budget movies can yield tremendous success in the box office.

2) Ezra

This horror thriller starring Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead role, is a never before seen kind of movie. A horror thriller sans any unwanted humour track was a revelation in Mollywood. Add to that, the Jewish backdrop in the movie. It is probably the first time a horror thriller with a Jewish backdrop is made in Indian cinema. The top notch technical values of the movie and the presentation of a complex theme is praiseworthy. Ezra could easily find it’s name in the finest horror thrillers in South Indian cinema.

3) Veeram

Director Jayaraj’s epic historic drama is an international movie in all sense. Many popular technicians from Hollywood have worked in the movie. The movie is adapted from William Shakespeare’s classic Macbeth. It features Bollywood actor Kunal Kapoor in the lead role of Chandu Chekavar, a warrior from the Vadakkan Pattukal of North Malabar region in Kerala. Production value for the Vfx and graphics for the movie alone accounted to around 20 crores. The movie was released yesterday and is garnering appreciation from all corners for the director’s efforts to conceive the movie in such a big canvas within the budget limitations of Malayalam film industry.

There were reports about Vijay teaming up with ace filmmaker AR Murugadoss soon after he completes his shoot for Atlee project. However, we now hear that Vijay will be doing another movie before joining hands with the Thuppakki director. And grapevine has it that RT Neason will get to call shots for Vijay again.

According to reports form Kollywood media, RT Neason will most probably work with Vijay after the Atlee project. Popular composer SS Thaman has been approached to score the music. The reports have not yet been confirmed and we will have to wait for an official word from the makers side.

Vijay has previously teamed up with RT Neason in 2013 for Jilla, which was the director’s debut movie. Mollywood superstar Mohanlal and Vijay played the lead roles. Though the movie was let down by the critics, it ended up as a commercial success. Neason is currently remaking Tamil superhit movie Vedhalam in Telugu with power star Pawan Kalyan reprising Ajith’s role.

Meanwhile, Vijay is busy shooting for his upcoming movie with Theri director Atlee. The semi period commercial entertainer is written by KV Vijayendra Prasad who has previously scripted blockbusters like Baahubali and Bhajrangi Bhaijaan. The movie features three female leads in Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Kajal Agarwal and Nithya Menen.

Shoot for the movie is fast progressing in Chennai Vijay is sporting a thick twirled moustche look for the 80s portions in the movie. The first schedule will be wrapped on 27th February. Another major portion of the movie will be shot in the US and UK.

Mohanlal to team up with Joshiy

According to latest reports from the industry, senior director Joshiy will be teaming up with Mohanlal for an upcoming movie. Udhayakrishna and producer Tomichan Mulakupadam, after the historic success of Pulimurugan will be once again teaming up with Mohanlal.

Udhayakrishna has apparently written a big budget mass entertainer. Director Joshiy is famous for successfully helming big budget movies. More details regarding the other cast and crew members are not yet known. An official confirmation regarding the movie will be made by March.

Joshiy and Mohanlal have previously worked together in several movies like No 20 Madras Mail, Naduvazhikal, Praja, Naran, Twenty 20, Christian Brothers and Run Baby Run. They last teamed up for Lailaa O Lailaa, an action thriller. The movie, written by Kahaani fame Suresh Nair, was a collosal failure.

Mohanlal, recently wrapped up the shoot for Major Ravi’s war drama 1971: Beyond Borders, which is based on the 1971 war between India and Pakistan. He will next join the sets of B Unnikrishnan’s multistarrer big budget movie. As a preparation to play his part as an ex-cop in the movie, Mohanlal is undergoing ayurvedic treatment to shed a few kilos. Kollywood hero Vishal, Hansika Motwani, Manju Warrier, Srikanth and Raashi Khanna are also part of the cast. This untitled movie will go on floors by March first week.
