Naam Shabana will be a game changer for Prithviraj in Bollywood

Prithviraj Sukumaran’s latest movie Ezra is getting excellent reports from all the release centres. The movie has taken a great opening in the Kerala box office and is expected to continue the tremendous run in the coming days.

Meanwhile, the actor’s upcoming Bollywood movie Naam Shabana is gearing up for release on March 31.
Official trailer for the movie was released few days back.

Naam Shabana, as we had earlier reported, is the prequel to Akshay Kumar‘s 2014 spy thriller, Baby. The new movie, directed by Shivam Nair, is a spin off revolving around Taapsee Pannu’s character, Shabana Khan from the original.

From the trailer, it is learnt that Prithvi is playing the character Tony, a most wanted criminal. Akshay Kumar and Anupam Kher are playing cameo roles in the movie. Prithviraj has earlier played villain characters in Kollywood flicks, Kana Kandaen and Kaaviya Thalaivan.

Naam Shabana is Prithviraj’s third Bollywood movie after starring in Aiyyaa and Aurangazeb. Unfortunately, both the movies could not taste commercial success. In Aiyyaa, he played a South Indian, for whom Rani Mukherjee’s character falls head over heels. He played a cop in Aurangzeb starring Arjun Kapoor in a dual role. His performance in Aurangzeb alongside the veteran Rishi Kapoor was highly appreciated.

So, the actor will be looking to set the record straight with Naam Shabana. The movie will be releasing good hype majorly due to Akshay Kumar’s presence and ace filmmaker Neeraj Pandey’s production.

Bollywood medias have been reporting about Sridevi’s daughter Jhanvi Kapoor planning to enter the industry. There were reports about the pretty lady pairing opposite Tiger Shroff in Student Of The Year sequel. However, nothing has been confirmed as of now.

Sridevi is known to be extremely protective of her daughters Jhanvi and Khushi. The actress had earlier imposed strict regulations on her to not have any male friends or get involved in any kind of relationship. It was triggered after photos of Jhanvi kissing Shikhar Pahariya, the grandson of veteran politician Sushil Kumar Shinde, went viral in social medias and other tabloids

According to reports from Bollywood medias, Sridevi has asked her daughters not to click or post any selfies. The two pretty girls are now restricted from posting selfies on social media.

There are also reports about Karan Johar planning to launch Jhanvi and Shahid Kapoor’s brother Ishaan Khattar in the Hindi version of acclaimed Marathi movie Sairat. It must be noted that Karan had recently acquired the remake rights of Sairat.

Prithviraj’s latest release Ezra has got a stunning opening in the Kerala box office. According to reports from trade sources, the movie raked in a whopping Rs 2.65 crores from the opening day collections. It is now among the top 4 in the highest opening day grossers in Malayalam cinema.

Second day of the release, February 11, has also seen massive collections. While the opening day figures in the Cochin multiplexes amount to Rs 16.79 lakh, the movie has raked in Rs 14.40 from the second day. That makes it a total of Rs 31.19 lakh from the first two days in Cochin multiplexes.

Reportedly, the movie has outperformed Mohanlal’s Pulimurugan in the occupancy rate in the Cochin multiplexes. The second day occupancy of Ezra is the all time highest with 99.85% occupancy. Pulimurugan previously held the record with 99.58% occupancy on it’s fifth day of release.

These are phenomenal numbers for Ezra. The movie, directed by debutant Jay K was released amid high expectations thanks to the interesting teasers and the well structured promotions. It is an one of its kind horror thriller in Malayalam. The treatment, story background and the technical values of the movie are very new to the industry. Audience especially youngsters are flocking theatres in large numbers. Most of the shows for the weekend have already been booked houseful.

Mukesh R. Mehta, C. V. Sarathy and A. V. Anoop have jointly produced the movie under the banners of E4 Entertainment and AVA Productions.

We had recently reported that Mohanlal’s latest release Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol, has successfully entered the 30 crore club. All India collections of the movie from the 21 days theatrical run has crossed the 30 crore mark. In Cochin multiplexes alone, the movie has raked in more than 1.50 crores. The actor currently has four of his movies in the 1 crore grossers list in the Kochi multiplexes.

Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol is Mohanlal’s third movie in a row to enter the 30 crore club, after the blockbusters Oppam and Pulimurugan. In total, Mohanlal has four movies in the 30 crore club, Jeethu Joseph’s Drishyam is the other movie in the list.

Mohanlal is going through a golden phase with three back to back massive successes in Mollywood. Oppam released for last Onam started the run, which was then taken over by Pulimurugan. Both the movies also crossed the 50 crore mark with the latter becoming the first ever Malayalam movie to enter the 100 crore club.

According to trade experts, Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol has very high chances to cross the 50 crore mark. The movie Thalirkkumbol has already completed 10,000 shows in Kerala. It is also the second fastest Malayalam movie to complete 5000 shows after Pulimurugan.

This family entertainer is directed by Jibu Jacob who previously helmed the superhit movie Vellimoonga. M Sindhuraj has written this movie based on James VJ’s popular short story Pranayopanishath. The story revolves a middle aged couple who rediscover their lost love from the boredom of their routine life. One of the all time favourite pairs, Mohanlal and Meena have played the lead couple in the movie. Jacobinte Swargarajyam fame Aima Rose Sebastian and Sanoop Santhosh have played their kids parts.

Prithviraj is someone who is known to speak his heart out without sugar coating any thing. He has faced a lot of criticism and flak for this nature of his, but the actor has always stayed true to himself come what may.

Recently during an interview, Prithviraj talked about the failure of one of his movies that disappointed him. He was talking about last year’s James and Alice, which marked the directorial debut of cinematographer Sujith Vaassudev.

Prithviraj said he signs each movie with a lot of conviction and in that sense, he had lot of hopes on James and Alice. But unfortunately, the movie could not taste commercial success.

James and Alice is a story about a couple who have lost the attachment as they get busy with their respective careers. Their busy lifestyles and misunderstandings results in filing a divorce. After that the narrative moves into a preachy mode giving lessons about how to lead a successful marriage life. Popular South Indian actress Vedhika played the female lead in this movie.

In the interview, which was part of the promotions for his latest movie Ezra, Prithvi also opened up about his views on the changes in Malayalam cinema and what can be done to expand the reach of Malayalam cinema to a wider audience. He suggested a very interesting idea about doing crossover movies and publicising it through online portals like Amazon and Netflix. Prithvi has signed for a crossover movie with debutant Nirmal Sahadev. The movie titled as Detroit Crossing is about the gang wars between the two Indian gangs in the US. The movie will have a separate title for Malayalam version.

Meanwhile, Ezra has got a great initial in the Kerala box office raking in a whopping 2.65 crores from the opening day itself. The horror thriller directed by debutant Jay K is getting excellent reports from all the release centres.

Godha is directed by Basil Joseph whose debut movie Kunjiramayanam was a superhit success. The movie written by Thira fame Rakesh Mandoti has a wrestling backdrop.

Punjabi actress Wamiqa Gabbi is playing the female lead while screen writer turned actor Renji Panicker is also playing a pivotal character as Tovino’s father in the movie.

Tovino is playing the character Anjaneya Das while Wamiqa Gabbi’s character is named as Aditi Singh in the movie. Renji Panicker had earlier stunned everyone with his physical transformation for playing the part in the movie. Aju Varghese is also playing an important role.

Music department is handled by Shaan Rahman. Vishnu Sarma has wielded the camera in the movie. Aanandam fame Abhinav Sunder Nayak is in charge of the edits.

Mukesh is a multi-faceted star who has been successfully juggling between movies, hosting television shows, literature and politics. The veteran actor who is also a MLA, was last seen in Sathyan Anthikad’s Jomonte Suvisheshangal.

He played Dulquer Salmaan’s father in the movie. His performance as Vincent, a rich businessman who at one point hits rock bottom, is rated as one of his finest performance in his three decade long career. The movie has become a great success thanks to the endearing father-son chemistry between Mukesh and Dulquer.

Mukesh in a recent interview, revealed that he had plans to make his directorial debut two years back. But his political commitments, put a temporary full stop to his directorial dreams. However, the veteran has not stepped back. He will soon be turning into a filmmaker.

Mukesh said, “Yes, I was about to make my directorial debut. But then I became a candidate and MLA, making my schedule tighter and tighter. I have been planning it for a while and very soon you will see me as a director,” he said.

Speculations are already rife about who will play the lead in Mukesh’s directorial venture. The Big M’s, Mohanlal and Mammootty have co-starred in several movies with Mukesh. So there are chances for Mukesh casting one of them for his directorial debut. We firmly believe that his movie will be a out and out fun entertainer, as the actor is known for his guileless and spontaneous humour. So it will only be fitting if he helms one such subject for his debut movie.

Mukesh will be next seen in Dileep’s political thriller Ramaleela and Shyamaprasad’s Hey Jude starring Nivin Pauly and Trisha in the lead.

Every average Malayali cine buff would want to know when Lucifer is starting. Prithviraj Sukumaran to direct Mohanlal in his debut movie, with Murali Gopy’s script. No other announcement in Mollywood was as big as this. Though the announcement was made last year, there is hardly any information about the movie.

Recently in an interview, Prithviraj was asked about the current status of the movie. He said, “Every movie is developed out of conversations. Likewise, Lucifer is currently in that stage. Murali and I discuss about the movie regularly. Writing will start soon and post-production will be happening this year. We are planning to start shooting next year once Lalettan and me are done with all our prior commitments.”

Both the actors have committed for a slew of projects this year. Prithviraj recently finished shooting his portions for the upcoming multistarrer Tiyaan. Other projects in his kitty are, debutant Pradeep M Nair’s Vimanam, screen writer turned filmmaker Jinu Abraham’s debut work Adam, photographer turned filmmaker Jamesh Kottakkal’s debut directorial Beautiful Game, RS Vimal’s big budget epic drama Karnan, Nirmal Sahadev’s Detroit Crossing, a sci-fi thriller with Jenuse Mohamed and Blessy’s Aadu Jeevitham.

Mohanlal, who recently finished shooting for Major Ravi’s 1971: Beyond Borders, will soon join the sets of B Unnikrishnan’s untitled movie. He has also committed for an action movie with Priyadarshan, MT Vasudevan Nair’s epic Randamoozham. There are also specualtions about Mohanlal starring in some other big budget movies.

We have no other option but wait patiently till, Prithviraj or Mohanlal reveal more details about this highly anticipated movie.

Prithviraj’s much awaited movie Ezra was finally released yesterday in 125 screens in Kerala. The movie opened to tremendous response in all the centres and by afternoon, positive reviews started flooding the social media platforms.

According to trade sources, Ezra has raked in Rs 2.65 crores on the opening day collections. If these reports are to be believed, Ezra will be among the top 4 highest opening day grossers in Malayalam. Mohanlal’s Pulimurugan stands top with a whopping 4.05 crores followed by Dulquer Salmaan’s Jomonte Suvisheshangal (2.71 crores) and Mohanlal’s latest release Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol (2.62 crores).

Ezra was highly anticipated by the audience majorly due to the impressive teasers. Even before it’s release, the movie was advertised to be a never before seen horror experience in Malayalam. Going by the collection reports, Ezra has the potential to become the biggest hit in Prithviraj’s career. Ennu Ninte Moideen released in 2015 is his biggest blockbuster, which also finds it’s name in the prestigious 50 crore club of Mollywood.

Ezra is directed by newbie Jay K, an associate of Rajeev Ravi. According to the makers, it is the first Indian movie to have a core plot about the Jewish community in Kerala. The movie has two timelines, spanning from the 1940s to 2016.

Popular South Indian actress Priya Anand marks her Mollywood debut through this movie. Tovino Thomas, Sudev Nair, Babu Antony, debutante Ann Sheetal, Vijayaraghavan, Prathap Pothen and Bharath Dabholkar are also part of the cast.
