Vishnu Sharma to wield the camera in Queen

We had earlier reported about an upcoming movie Queen, directed by newbie Dijo Jose Antony. The movie is about a girl who joins the mechanical engineering, a stream generally considered as boys’ fort.

Queen is scripted by mechanical engineering graduates Jebin Joseph Antony and Sharis Muhammed. A new production and distribution company Arabian Dreams and Entertainment headed by Rinu and Shibu K Moideen will be producing this movie. Interestingly, both the producers are also mechanical engineering graduates.

Latest addition to the technical team is Vishnu Sharma, a highly talented young cinematographer. He has earlier wielded the camera for movies like Ann Maria Kalipilanu, Kunjiramayanam and Escape from Uganda. He is also the DOP for Tovino Thomas’ upcoming movie Godha, which is based on wrestling.

Queen will have mostly newcomers in the lead cast. The team had recently released the casting call for 41 boys and a girl. Some seasoned actors will also be part of the cast.

Director Dijo Jose Antony has earlier assured that the movie will be an entertainer that will be liked by the auidence of all age groups.

The movie will start rolling in March, 2017.

Jibu Jacob thanks audience for the success of Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol

Mohanlal’s latest releaese Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol, directed by Vellimoonga fame Jibu Jacob is continuing its successful run in all the release centres. The movie, initially scheduled to release for the Christmas season last year got pushed to on January 20 due to the theatre strike.

The movie was opened to great numbers in the box office with unanimously positive reviews from the critics and the audience. Mohanlal once again paired up with Meena after Drishyam in this movie.

Director Jibu Jacob has thanked the audience for the overwhelming response through a video in his official Facebook account.

Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol is written by M Sindhuraj. The movie is based on the famous short story Pranayopanishath, written by James VJ. The story revolves around a middle aged couple who rediscover their lost love from the boredom of their routine life.

Mohanlal has played the character of Ulahnnan, a panchayath secretary while Meena played his wife Aniyamma, a homemaker. Aima Rose Sebastian and Sanoop Santhosh have played their kids in the movie.

The lead cast’s performance and the neat screenplay infused with situational humour are the major plus plots of the movie. Anoop Menon, Srinda Arhaan, Kalabhavan Shajon, Alencier Ley Lopez, Rahul Madhav, Neha Saxena, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Sharafudheen, Sudheer Karamana, Ganapati, Bindu Panicker, Joy Mathew, Asha Sarath and many others are part of the supporting cast.

Sophia Paul has produced this movie under the banner Weekend Blockbusters. There are reports about Tollywood superstar Venkatesh Daggubati remaking the movie in Telugu.

Dulquer Salmaan praises Oru Mexican Aparatha trailer

Oru Mexican Aparatha, written and directed by debutant Tom Emmatty is one of the most awaited movies of the year. Official trailer for the movie was released yesterday evening. The movie, set in the Maharajas College, revolves around campus politics.

Tovino Thomas and Neeraj Madhav are seen as SFI activists while Roopesh Peethambaran is seen playing a KSU leader. Gayathri Suresh is playing Tovino’s pair in this movie.

Dulquer Salmaan has shared the trailer in his official Facebook page. He has appreciated the work and wished best of luck for the team.

His post reads,

“Awesome trailer ! Full of energy and fun..But more than that it’s full of my friends from so many memorable films ! Tovi, Roopesh, Neeraj and edited by Shameer (Charlie) ! All the best guys. Have an amazing release and a super run at the B.O”

Tovino Thomas and Dulquer have earlier worked together in ABCD and Charlie, while Roopesh Peethambaran made his directorial debut through the Dulquer Salmaan starrer Theevram.

The stunning promo song ‘Oru Mexican Aparatha’ sung by Neruppuda fame Arunraja Kamaraja made the movie popular among the masses. Tovino is playing a double role in the movie. The promo song is a flashback sequence set in the 70s in which he will be seen as a campus leader named Kochaniyan, while the other character is named as Paul.

Anoop Kannan is producing this movie under his banner Anoop Kannan Stories.

One of the biggest blockbusters in recent times, Premam is having a special screening at Luxe Cinemas in Chennai from 10 February to 16 February as part of the Valentines week celebrations. Hero of the movie, Nivin Pauly himself made the announcement through his official Facebook page.

Premam, released in 2015 was a massive blockbuster not only in Kerala. The movie had a record 250 days theatrical run in Chennai. Directed by Alphonse Puthren, the movie is a coming of age love story that showcased the three stages of the lead character George. Debutantes Anupama Parameswaran, Sai Pallavi and Madonna Sebastian played the three female leads who go past George’s life in each stage.

Prithviraj’s highly anticipated horror thriller Ezra is all set to hit screens on February 10. The movie is directed by debutant Jay K, a former associate of cinematographer/ filmmaker Rajeev Ravi. Ezra marks the debut Malayalam movie of South Indian actress Priya Anand.

Recently, an excited Prithviraj opened up about the movie and his expectations.

“Ezra is a movie set in two timelines. It should be the first ever Indian movie with a horror theme, set in a Jewish backdrop. The Jew community had their settlements in Ernakulam and Kochi. This movie discusses about the Jewish history in Kerala. I have already seen the movie more than 100 times, but the movie still amazes me. The audience will have many new things to learn through this movie.”

“After the classic Bhargavi Nilayam, Ezra must be the first straight horror film in Malayalam. Most of the other movies were horror comedies. Ezra will be a new experience for all as the movie does not follow the tried and tested formula.”

The movie also stars Tovino Thomas, Sudev Nair, Vijayaraghavan, Babu Antony, Pratap Pothen, Alencier Ley Lopez, Bharat Dabholkar and Ann Sheetal in pivotal characters.

Sujith Vaassudev has handled the cinematography while Vivek Harshan is in charge of editing. Rahul Raj and Sushin Shyam has composed the music for this movie. Mukesh R. Mehta, C. V. Sarathy and A. V. Anoop have produced the film under the banner of E4 Entertainment and AVA Productions.

Vikram is simultaneously shooting for both Dhruva Natchathiram and Vaalu fame Vijay Chander’s movie. So the actress had no other option but opt out from this highly anticipated movie.

Latest reports from K Town confirm that Gautham Menon has roped in Ritu Varma after being impressed with her performance in the Telugu blockbuster Pelli Choopulu. It must be noted that Gautham Menon acquired the remake rights of Pelli Choopulu in Tamil.

Anu Emmanuel is currently one of the busiest actresses in Telugu industry. She had recently signed for her Kollywood debut with Vishal in Thupparivalan, a fantasy thriller directed by Mysskin. There are also reports about Anu playing the second heroine in Tollywood superstar Pawan Kalyan’s next movie directed by ace filmmaker Trivikram Srinivas. Dhruva Natchathiram is a spy thriller in which Vikram is reportedly playing a RAW agent. The movie is Gautham Menon’s pet project which he initially started with Suriya but later got shelved due to their creative differences. The movie has already started rolling.

According to the director, the movie have high octane action sequences shot on an international scale. Malayali cinematographer Jomon T John is cranking the camera for this movie. Gautham Menon’s production house Ondraga Entertainment and Escape Artists Pictures will together produce this movie which is scheduled to release for August this year.

Parvathy Menon, the hot and happening female star in Malayalam has bagged a biggie. She is planning to enter Bollywood through an upcoming movie directed by scriptwriter Tanuja Chandra of Dil toh Pagal Hai fame.

Irfan Khan who has made a mark in Hollywood through his impeccable acting skills, will be playing the lead role in this movie. The film is said to to be a romantic comedy, and the protagonists apparently fall in love with each other, during a road trip. Rishikesh, Gangtok and Bikaner would be the shooting locations of the film.

Parvathy Menon in her comeback has given some praiseworthy performances in Tamil and Malayalam. Her performance as Panimalar in Maryan alongside Dhanush won rave reviews from the critics. Next year, her portrayal of the disabled yet cheerful RJ Sarah in Anjali Menon’s Bangalore Days was highly appreciated.

In 2015, she was part of two movies in Malayalam- Ennu Ninte Moideen (ENM) and Charlie. She played the real life character of Kanchanamala, a love smitten- lion hearted woman in ENM. In Charlie, she essayed the role of Tessa, a graphic artist trying to meet a carefree vagabond about whom she had heard many interesting stories.

Both the characters, Kanchanamala and Tessa, were like chalk and cheese, but Parvathy was upto the task and gave incredible performances that was right up there with her male counterparts. Fittingly, she won the State Award that year for the best actress.

She will be next seen in My Story, an intense romantic movie set in Poland. Directed by debutante Roshni Dinaker, the movie features her ENM co-star Prithviraj as the male lead.

These performances down South made heads turn and helped her bag a role in Bollywood and that too opposite an actor like Irfan Khan. More details regarding the cast and crew members of this yet-to-be-titled is still awaited.

Megastar Mammootty is fondly called as Mammookka by industry insiders as well as the fans. His son Dulquer Salmaan is called as Kunjikka by his fans. But how did he get the name DQ?

Dulquer himself explained about how he got the name in a recent interview. “I am not sure how the name Kunjikka was bestowed upon me. I saw the name in many social media forums and I like it. I feel very much loved.”

About the name DQ, he said, “I was called that name for the first time when I was in third or fourth grade. My name was not very easy to pronounce for my friends. So they used it as a nickname for their ease.” He added that some of his friends also called him Dhulki.

On the work front, Dulquer’s latest release Jomonte Suvisheshangal is running successfully in all the release centres. The movie directed by veteran filmmaker Sathyan Anthikad was about an endearing relationship between a rich businessman and his son. Dulquer’s charming performance in the movie found appreciation from the critics and the auidence.
