Mammootty and Mohanlal prefer teenagers: Suhasini

One of the most popular yesteryear actresses in the South Indian film industry, Suhasini is not regularly seen on screen these days. She has acted in a very few movies in Malayalam in the recent years.

Suhasini was very popular actresses in the 80s and 90s being part of several superhit movies in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam. She has acted with South Indian superstars like Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Chiranjeevi, Mohanlal, Mammootty etc.

However, post her marriage with legendary filmmaker Mani Ratnam, she is not often seen in movies especially in Malayalam. She was mostly offered mother roles or senior characters while her male counterparts were still romancing around with teenage heroines. Recently, the actress expressed her disappointment over the industry excluding actors like her.

Mohanlal and Mammootty were two very good friends of mine. Mammootty once said, Malayalam industry will lose a good actress if you marry a Tamilian. But after my marriage, we lost that touch. They both prefer teenagers now and not yesteryear actors like me. But I am getting good offers from Telugu and Tamil. Malayalam film industry is not giving proper value to yesteryear actors.

In 2015, Suhasini acted in two Malayalam movies, 24×7 Love and Salt Mango Tree. She will be writing the dialogues for the Tamil version of Queen to be directed by another popular yesteryear actress Revathi.
