Sunny Wayne-Srinath Rajendran movie will be an unique experience

We had earlier in the week reported that Srinath Rajendran, a promising director who made his debut through the superhit movie Second Show, will be teaming up with Sunny Wayne for an upcoming movie.

Speaking exclusively to Onlookers Media, Sunny Wayne has said that their new movie will be not be a regular formulaic one. He has assured that the director is incorporating a lot of freshness in the making and that the movie will have an unique style of presentation. The actor has pinned high hopes on this yet-to-be-titled movie.

The two are teaming up together for the third time after Second Show and Koothara. Second Show released in 2012 marked the entry of Dulquer Salmaan and Sunny Wayne to the industry. The movie was both highly appreciated for its theme and presentation. It was also a big commercial success.

Koothara had Sunny Wayne, Kollywood actor Bharath and Tovino Thomas in the lead roles. Superstar Mohanlal played an extended cameo in the movie. Though the film was noted for the bold attempt, it was an underwhelming affair at the box office.

When Sunny Wayne and Srinath Rajendran team up once again, expectations are on the higher side. Sunny Wayne is going through a good phase in his career with his last outing Ann Maria Kalipilanu ending up as an average success at the box office. His performance as as Poombatta Girish earned him appreciation from the audience.

Sunny Wayne’s next release will be Alamara, directed by Midhun Manuel Thomas. Aditi Ravi is playing the female lead in this movie which also features Aju Varghese, Manikandan Achari and Renji Panicker in pivotal characters.

He has also signed for a movie with Jijo Antony titled as Pokkiri Simon Oru Kaduththa Aaraadhakan. He will be playing the role of a hard core Vijay fan in the movie.

Motion poster for Mammootty’s upcoming release The Great Father was released on January 31. The 55 second poster got overwhelming response from the viewers. The motion poster has ever since been trending virally in social media platforms.

The video has been fetched over 8 lakh views in YouTube with over 35,000 likes. Interestingly, The Great Father’s likes count has gone past the life time count of Indian cinema’s one of the biggest blockbusters Baahubali’s motion poster. This is a phenomenal achievement considering that it has been just over three days from its release. In today’s scenario, social media response in platforms like YouTube have considerable impact on the publicity of the movie.

The Great Father written and directed by debutant Haneef Adeni, features Kollywood actor Arya, Sneha, Shaam, Malavika Mohanan, IM Vijayan, Manikandan Achari and Baby Anikha in pivotal roles. August Cinemas is funding this highly anticipated movie.

Mammootty is playing the character David Nainan while Sneha is essaying his wife Michelle David’s role. Arya’s character is named as Andrews Eapen. He is speculated to be the antagonist in this movie. From the motion poster, the movie is believed to be a revenge drama.

Gopi Sunder is composing the music. Roby Varghese Raj is the cinematographer while Noufal Abdullah is in charge of the cuts.

Gopi Sunder once again alleged for copying

Gopi Sunder, one of the leading composers in Malayalam film industry has often been criticised for copying tunes. He has been accused of lifting tunes from Hollywood movies for his background score.

Recently, the motion poster of the Mammootty starrer The Great Father was released. The 55 second video had its background score composed by Gopi Sunder. The score had an uncanny resemblance to the background music tuned by Bijibal for the movie Red Wine.

Responding to the allegations, Gopi Sunder updated a status in his official Facebook page. The post reads,

“Every week am committing a new film to do music . My dear critics, can you do something reg it ?”

The post has been met with mixed response among the netizens. Some have criticised Gopi for his arrogance, while some others have lauded his confidence.

Last year during the release of Kali’s trailer, the composer was severely trolled for lifting the background score from the English movie The Man from U.N.C.L.E. He even admitted to having been inspired by the background score of the Hollywood movie. Similarly his background score for Bangalore Days, Olanjali Kuruvi song from 1983, Kaal Kuzhanju song from Left Right Left were all accused of plagiarism.

But all these allegations hasn’t stopped the National award winner from signing back to back projects. He is currently the most demanded music director in Malayalam film industry. Of late he has been working in other language movies also.

Georgettan’s Pooram, Role Models, Sathya, The Great Father, Kammarasambhavam, Ramaleela, CIA, Chunkzz and Tiyaan are some of his upcoming movies in Mollywood.

Every mechanical engineer’s college life will have stories for atleast 10 different movies, says Queen Malayalam movie director Dijo Jose Antony

We had earlier reported about a group of engineers teaming up for a movie titled as Queen. The movie revolves around the story of a girl who joins mechanical engineering, a stream which is generally considered as a boys fortress. Newcomers will be playing the lead roles, while some senior actors will also be part of the cast.

Queen is directed by newcomer Dijo Jose Antony, an engineering graduate. The movie is written by Jebin Joseph Antony and Sharis Muhammed, both of whom are mechanical engineering graduates.

Director Dijo Jose Antony, speaks exclusively to Onlookers Media.

“The idea for our movie sparked when we saw photos from the Onam celebrations of mechanical engineering students in Sree Buddha Engineering College, Pattoor. The photo had a girl student leading from the front with around 100 boys behind her. This triggered an idea for our movie. Every mechanical engineer’s college life will have stories for atleast 10 different movies. We have experienced that. After several rounds of discussions we developed a story about a girl who joins mechanical engineering.”

“We visited the college and the Chairman and informed them about our idea for a movie. They even shared some interesting incidents from their college days with us. But our movie is not about the students of Sree Budha or their lives, it is an entirely fictional story. The first look poster was received with good response in social medias and we hope that our movie will be able to satisfy the audience.”

The director has assured that, the movie will have a refreshingly new flavour of life and would definitely connect with all audiences, engineers and non-engineers alike.

The movie is being planned on a bigger canvas. A new production and distribution company Arabian Dreams and Entertainment headed by Rinu and Shibu K Moideen will be producing this movie. Interestingly, both the producers are also graduates from mechanical engineering.

Queen will start rolling in March this year.

Shoot for Prithviraj’s upcoming movie Tiyaan was recently completed in Hyderabad. Indrajith, Prithviraj, Shine Tom Chacko, Murali Gopy, Padmapriya and Ananya play the lead roles in the movie. It is one of the most anticipated movies of the year. Murali Gopy has written this movie while newcomer Jiyen Krishnakumar is the director. The movie is said to be a socio-political drama set in the backdrop of North India. Prithviraj is playing the character Aslan Mohammed while Indrajith’s character is named as Pattabhiraman. The actor in his Facebook post has written that Aslan Mohammed is one of the most complex characters ever written for him. Indrajith has also said that Pattabhiraman was the most challenging roles in his career. Tight secrecy maintained by the team, the massive production scale and the involvement of big names have all piqued the curiosity levels of the audience.

Interestingly, the idea for Prithviraj’s debut directorial Lucifer starring Mohanlal in the lead was born on the sets of Tiyaan. Lucifer is written by Murali Gopy who is also the scriptwriter of Tiyaan. Lucifer is Murali Gopy’s pet project which he had been working on for many years now. Late director, Rajesh Pillai was initially set to direct the movie but the project could not take off due to some unknown reasons. Apparently, during the shoot of Tiyaan, Murali narrated Lucifer’s idea to Prithviraj and suggested him to direct the movie. They met Mohanlal and over some discussions, the project was ultimately born.

Mohanlal announced about Lucifer last year. The movie will be produced by Antony Perumbavoor under Mohanlal’s own production house Aashirvad Cinemas. More details about the cast, crew or even the genre of the movie has not yet been announced. It is still not clear when the movie will start rolling.

Mohanlal and Prithviraj had earlier assured that Lucifer will not be just another commercial potboiler. So, the audience have pinned humongous expectations on the movie.

We had earlier told you that the most expected trio of Sreenivasan, Mohanlal and Sathyan Anthikad will be teaming up this year. Sreenivasan himself revealed the information during an interactive session with students in the recently concluded Kerala State Youth Festival held in Kannur.

Social media was abuzz with speculations about their joining back. There were reports that the movie will be similar to their past blockbusters, dealing with a very relevant social issue. However, now we hear that Sreenivasan’s next is not the Sathyan Anthikad directorial.

He will be working on a movie titled as Paviyettante Madhurachooral. Sreenivasan is playing the lead role in this movie for which he has also written the dialogues. Directed by debutant Sreekrishnan, the movie will discuss about the marital life of a middle aged couple who come from different religious backgrounds. Actress Lena is playing Sreenivasan’s pair in this movie.

Vijayaraghavan, Harisree Ashokan, Leshoy, Nandu Pothuval play supporting characters in the movie. VC Sudhan and CV Vijayan will be producing this movie under the banner Sanjeevani Creations. Shoot for the movie has already commenced in Kannur.

Suresh Babu Shrestha has written the story for this movie. Veteran cinematographer P Sukumar is cranking the camera while Reghunath is composing the music for Rafeeq Ahmed’s lyrics.

One of the most awaited movies of the year, Tiyaan is finally nearing it’s completion. This multistarrer is highly anticipated majorly for the names involved and the secrecy maintained by the team during the shoot.

The movie stars Prithviraj, Indrajith, Shine Tom Chacko, Murali Gopy, Padmapriya and Ananya in the lead roles. Written by the multi talented Murali Gopy, this movie is said to be a socio-political drama set in the North Indian milieu in Uttar Pradesh. Debutant Jiyen Krishnakumar is helming this movie.

Aslan Mohammed while his brother Indrajith is playing the character Pattabhiraman. Both the actors have pinned high expectations on this movie. Recently Indrajith took to Facebook to announce the completion of his portions for the movie. The post reads,

Major portions of the movie was shot in the Ramoji Rao Film City in Hyderabad where huge sets were erected. The team is yet to release any information or character posters regarding the movie, and that has further piqued the curiosity among the audience. We had earlier told you that Dulquer Salmaan is working with Bollywood filmmaker Bejoy Nambiar for an upcoming movie titled as Solo. It is being made as a bilingual in Malayalam and Tamil.

Now, we hear that Bejoy Nambiar is planning to make a Bollywood movie with Dulquer in the lead. Bejoy is an established filmmaker in Bollywood. He is famous for his movies like Shaitaan, the bilingual David and Wazir starring Amitabh Bachchan and Farhan Akthar in the lead. So teaming up with Bejoy Nambiar will be the perfect launch pad for Dulquer in Bollywood. An official confirmation regarding the same is still awaited.

He has already made a mark in Tamil industry through his movies Vaayai Moodi Pesavum and Mani Ratnam’s OK Kanmani. He is quite popular in Bollywood also. Recently, his super hit movie OK Kanmani was remade in Hindi as OK Jaanu with Aditya Roy Kapur reprising his role.

Meanwhile, the first schedule of Solo was completed in Kochi. He is expected to start the second schedule after completing his portions for Soubin Shahir’s debut directorial Parava.

Solo reportedly features five heroines. Model turned actress Arthi Venkatesh was earlier roped in to play one of the female leads. She had even shot for a few scenes with Dulquer. Ann Augustine is making a comeback through this movie. Apart from the lead actors, there will be supporting actors from Tamil and Malayalam industry.

Both the director and Dulquer had earlier mentioned that Solo will not be an usual run of the mill kind of movie. It will be a commercially viable romantic entertainer with a different style and treatment. The movie is produced by Bejoy Nambiar’s home production banner Getaway Films and Abaam Movies.

Mammootty’s awareness programme Vazhikatti to awareness about drug use by school children

Superstar Mammootty has always been vocal about the menace caused by the use of drugs by school children. Mammootty’s Care and Share International Foundation along with the State Home Department and Education Department will be presenting Vazhikatti (Guide), a short film to spread awareness regarding the same. The actor shared a teaser video in his official Facebook page.

The short film is based on three real life incidents, based on children and drugs, along with a message by Mammootty. It will be telecasted in all the higher secondary schools in the State on February 3. Dhoordarshan and Victers channel will also be telecasting the short film.

“The presence of Mammootty will add to the celebrity value of the programme and moreover, will help in attracting more students to the awareness programme,” a statement issued by Care and Share Foundation chairman K Muraleedharan stated.

Mammootty thanked Santhigiri Ashramam, Mammootty Fans & Welfare Association International (MFWAI), Moolan Foundation and all the NGO’s who cooperated in the scheme.

The official first look poster of director Omar Lulu’s upcoming movie titled as Chunkzz was released today. The colourful poster shows two men travelling in a car and there is a board reading Goa Summer Fest. The movie promises to be a fun ride with revolving around friendship and travel.

Aanandam fame Vishak Nair and Balu Varghese are playing the lead roles in this movie which also features Ganapathi and Dharmajan Bolgatty in pivotal characters. Mareena Michael who was noted for her cameo performance in Happy Wedding is also playing an important character in the movie. The team is yet to announce the main female lead.

Omar Lulu’s debut movie Happy Wedding was a sleeper hit, which had a theatrical run of over 100 days. The movie sans any big stars turned into a great success mainly due to the humour and the entertainment factor. The new movie also promises to be a similar one.

Chunkzz is scripted by three newbies, Sanoop Thykoodam, Joseph Vijeesh and Aneesh Hameed. They have jointly written the screenplay and dialogues for Omar Lulu’s story. First look poster of the movie will be unveiled today.

Gopi Sunder is composing the music for this movie. Honey Bee fame Alby will be cranking the camera while Dilip Dennies will be handling the cuts. Pulimurugan’s art director Joseph Nellickal is also part of the team.

The movie is produced by Vaishak Rajan under his banner Vaishaka Movies. A team of directors are also funding this movie. G Marthandan who directed last year’s superhit movie Pavada, Ajai Vasudev of Rajadhiraja fame, production controller Dixon Poduthas and Sreeraj AKD are the executive producers of this movie.

Chunkzz is scheduled to start rolling on February 9.
