Rajinikanth in Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol remake?

Mohanlal’s latest releaese Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol has entered its third week of successful theatrical run. The movie is doing great business in all the release centres.

Directed by Vellimoonga fame Jibu Jacob, Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol is a family entertainer revolving around the lives of a middle aged couple. Mohanlal and Meena played the lead roles in the movie.

Grapevine suggests that director Jibu Jacob is planning to remake the movie in Tamil with none other than superstar Rajinikanth in the lead. It will be exciting to see Rajinikanth reprising Mohanlal’s character from the original. Earlier the superstar had reprised Mammootty’s character in Katha Parayumpol in the Tamil version Kuselan. An official confirmation regarding the Tamil remake is still awaited.

Recently we had reported that Tollywood actor Venkatesh Daggubati has shown interest in remaking the movie in Telugu. He had earlier played the lead in the Telugu remake of Drishyam.

Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol, written by M Sindhuraj is about how a middle aged couple, Ulhannan and Aniyamma who rediscover their lost love from the boredom of their routine life. Mohanlal played the role of Ulahannan, a panchayath secretary while Meena played his wife Aniyamma, a homemaker.
Sindhuraj wrote the movie based on the popular short story Pranayopanishath by James VJ.

Anoop Menon, Aima Rose Sebastian, Sanoop Santhosh, Srinda Arhaan, Kalabhavan Shajon, Alencier Ley Lopez, Rahul Madhav, Neha Saxena, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Sharafudheen, Sudheer Karamana, Joy Mathew, Asha Sarath and many others were also part of the supporting cast.

Star kids are always born with the silver spoon. Atleast, that is the general conception. They can easily afford a swanky lifestyle thanks to their celebrity family. But here is an exception to all that. Mollywood’s young star Dulquer Salmaan probably had the biggest address among his peers, Megastar Mammootty’s son. But the humble and down to earth Dulquer never had any starry airs and went the hard way to find the road to success.

The actor recently shared some of his experiences during his college life in an exclusive chat with Club FM UAE. He was part of the show as for the promotions of his latest release, Jomonte Suvisheshangal.

Dulquer said, “When I was in college, a dollar’s value was around 46-47 rupees. I was very apprehensive about troubling my family for my college expenses. So I worked in a food court to meet my expenses. During those days, I lived with a minimum budget and had many memorable experiences. But today, I can sustain with any budget and change myself according to the situation.”

He continued, “I always had a passion for acting. I had a doubtful phase when I was not sure what to do in my career. I wanted to select a career where I should enjoy doing my work and not consider it as a mechanical job. I share a buddy- buddy relationship with my father. Everyone in my home is very affectionate.”

In the work front, his latest release Jomonte Suvisheshangal directed by veteran filmmaker Sathyan Anthikad, is running successfully in theatres.

End of the historic theatrical run for Pulimurugan in Kochi multiplexes

Mohananlal’s historic hit, Pulimurugan has finally ended it’s theatrical run in Kochi multiplexes. The movie was released on October 7, last year during the Pooja holidays. Released amid high expectations, the movie opened to tremendous opening and went on to rewrite several pre existing box office records in Mollywood.

Pulimurugan had a successful run for 119 continuous days in the Kochi multiplexes. The movie registered record collections of over 4 crores in the centres. Hollywood blockbuster Jungle Book is the distant second in the list with collections of around 2. 5 crores.

Pulimurugan stood unshaken even amidst the release of many biggies. It is also the fastest movie to reach the 1 crore, 2 crore and 3 crore marks at the Kochi multiplexes. The movie also had a record number of shows for any movie in the Kochi multiplexes.

The Vysakh directorial was largely benefitted by the cinema strike that blocked the release of many highly anticipated Malayalam movies. In the course of it’s successful run, Pulimurugan scripted history by becoming the first ever Malayalam movie to enter the 100 crore club. Overall business of the movie has crossed the 150 crore mark.

Pulimurugan is written by Udhayakrishna and produced by Tomichan Mulakupadam under his banner Mulakupadam Films. The movie had Mohanlal in the title role of a wild hunter known in the locality for hunting down man eating tigers. The superstar’s terrific performance, Peter Hein’s action choreography and the technical brilliance of the movie was highly appreciated by the audience. Pulimurugan’s dubbed Telugu version, Manyam Puli was also a commercial success.

Telugu version of Oppam titled as Kanupapa was released today. The movie has opened to great response from critics and the Telugu audience. Social media is flooded with positive reviews for the movie. Mohanlal’s performance is getting rave reviews from all the corners.

Critics have stated that Kanupapa’s clever screenplay and technical brilliance is something that is only rarely seen in Telugu cinema. Mohanlal’s performance as the blind man Jayaraman and Priyadarshan’s skilled direction are the major highlights of the movie.

If Kanupapa becomes a commercial success, it will register a hat-trick of success for Mohanlal in Tollywood. Only rarely does an actor from another industry achieve such phenomenal success.

This is Mohanlal’s fourth release in less than twelve months in Telugu.
His first release was Vismayam directed by Chandra Shekhar Yeleti. Though the movie was critically acclaimed, it could not reap big commercial success. Next he teamed up with Telugu superstar Jr NTR in Kortala Siva’s Janatha Garage. His restrained and subtle performance as Sathyam made him popular among the Telugu masses.

Riding on the success of Janatha Garage, the Telugu version of Pulimurugan titled as Manyam Puli was released on December 2. The movie got a massive opening and enjoyed a theatrical run of over 50 days. According to trade sources, Manyam Puli grossed around 13 crores from it’s theatrical run.

Oppam was a blockbuster success in Malayalam. It is currently the second highest grossing Malayalam movie only after Pulimurugan. Tamil version of Oppam will be released soon.

It has been exactly five years since two promising actors entered the Malayalam film industry. From promising actors they have reached the stage of ‘stardom’, through their hardwork and dedication. We are talking about Dulquer Salmaan and Sunny Wayne whose debut movie, Second Show, was released exactly five years before on this day.

Second Show is a crime thriller directed by Srinath Rajendran. The movie had an heartwarming friendship between Lalu and Kurudi played by Dulquer and Sunny Wayne respectively. Both the actors made heads turn with their perfomance.

Dulquer was praised widely for making his entry to films through a lesser known team, even after being a popular star kid. Ever since then, the two have maintained their friendship intact. They went on to team up in Sameer Thahir’s Neelakasham Pachakadal Chuvanna Bhoomi. Dulquer even played a guest role in Sunny Wayne’s recent movie Ann Maria Kalipilanu.

Both the actors took to Facebook to share their happiness with fans.

Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan was in Kochi recently for a brand promotion. People thronged the Lulu Mall to catch a glimpse of India’s one of the most handsome actors. His latest releaese Kaabil is doing good business worldwide. He shared his happiness about the success of Kaabil.

“Kaabil was a small film, it had a small heart, but it was filled with so much love from all over the world that it has become humongous and gigantic now,” he said.

The actor will soon start shooting for his next movie Krrish 4, fourth installment in the superhero series.
Guess what! Some portions of the movie will be shot in Kochi. While talking to the crowd Hrithik himself revealed the information.

“I love you Kerala…thank you for being the wind behind my wings by giving me your love and support. We are bringing my next movie here. Part of ‘Krrish 4’ will be shot in Kochi. This is how much I love this state,” the actor said.

Krrish is a popular superhero series. The film series is written, directed and produced by Hrithik’s father Rakesh Roshan. It is the only superhero series in Indian cinema. The series began with Koi Mil Gaya in 2003 followed by Krrish in 2006. Third installment in the series, Krrish 3 was released in 2013.

Motion poster for Mammootty’s upcoming release The Great Father was released few days back. The 55 second poster got stupendous response from the viewers. Ever since it’s release, the video has been trending virally in social media platforms.

The video is nearing 9 lakh views in YouTube with over 36,000 likes. This is a new record in South Indian cinema. Earlier the record was held by Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s Kaththi. The 2014 blockbuster movie’s motion poster has 36,379 lifetime likes. The Great Father’s likes currently stands at 36,422. It has also gone past the life time count of Indian cinema’s one of the most expected movie Baahubali 2: The Conclusion. This is a phenomenal achievement considering that it has been just over three days from its release. In today’s scenario, social media response in platforms like YouTube have massive impact on the publicity of the movie. It is indeed a proud moment for cine lovers of the state as the record has been set by a movie from a comparatively small industry like Mollywood.

Hrithik Roshan’s whose latest release Kaabil is running successfully in theatres worldwide, was recently in Kochi for a brand promotion. Thousands gathered at the Lulu Mall in the city, to get a glimpse of India’s one of the most good looking actors.

While talking to the crowd, Hrithik said that he will surely act in a Malayalam movie if he comes across a good story.

“I’ve heard about the Malayalam industry and the stars here. I’ve watched some movies of Mohanlal and Mammootty but don’t remember the names. I will certainly consider doing a Malayalam film if ever I get a chance. Language is not important as far as the character suits me“, said Hrithik.

Kaabil, a revenge drama, directed by Sanjay Gupta features Hrithik Roshan and Yami Gautam in the lead roles. Both the actors have played blind characters in the movie. Hrithik’s performance is highly appreciated by both the audience and critics. Many have called it as his career best performance.

Kaabil released alongside Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees on January 25, has managed to do good business in all the release centres. The movie is inching towards the hundred crore mark.

Sachin said, “Nivin has been very supportive of KBFC. I would like to thank him for all the support and good wishes. He narrated to me about the movie 1983. I am going to watch the movie with him in Malayalam with subtitles.”

1983 directed by Abrid Shine was a movie based on cricket. Nivin played the character Rameshan, a middle aged man from a small town who dreams of making his son as a cricketer. The movie won Nivin Pauly his first Kerala State Award in 2015. Though the team had been trying to reach Sachin to hand over him a copy, they could not access him. It was only after Nivin’s association with the KBFC that Sachin came to know about the movie. During one of their interactions last season, Nivin handed over the film’s DVD copy to Sachin.
