Mammootty to play the lead in cinematographer Shamdat’s debut directorial

Mammootty recently started shooting for his upcoming movie with 7th Day fame Shyam Dhar. The actor has now signed for a new movie with popular cinematographer Shamdat Sainudeen. This yet to be titled movie will be the debut directorial of Shamdat. We are informed that the movie will go on floors this year itself.

Shamdat is noted for his visuals in movies like Ritu, Seniors, and the recently released Kattappanayile Rithwik Roshan. He has worked with Kamal Hassan in movies like Uttama Villain and the yet to be released Vishwaroopam 2. He has earlier worked with Mammootty in his two movies, Pramani and Venicile Vyapari.

Mammootty meanwhile has wrapped up his portions for Puthan Panam directed by ace filmmaker Ranjith. He is playing the character Nithyananda Shenoy, a middle aged business in the movie. In Shyam Dhar’s untitled movie, Mammootty is playing a Idduki native who comes to Kochi as a teacher trainer.

This year, Mammootty has also committed for movies with directors like Shafi, Rajadhiraja fame Ajai Vasudev, writer Sethu and Vysakh.

After finishing his portions for Shyam Dhar’s movie, Mammootty is expected to start shooting for Vysakh’s Raja 2, the character sequel of blockbuster Pokkiriraja released in 2010. Fans and neutral audience have pinned high expectations on this movie, as it is Vyshak’s next after the all time blockbuster Pulimurugan. The director has informed that it will be a big budget project and is being planned as a multilingual.

His next release is the much anticipated, The Great Father scheduled to hit screens on March 30. National award winner Ram’s bilingual Peranbu is also awaiting release.

Happy Wedding fame Omar Lulu’s next is titled as Chunkzz. From the name itself, it is certain that the movie is about a group of friends. Now, we have something interesting to share with you all. A group of directors are teaming up to produce this movie, which is said to be a fun filled entertainer.

Vaishak Rajan is producing this film under his banner Vaishaka movies. G Marthandan who directed last year’s superhit movie Pavada, Ajai Vasudev of Rajadhiraja fame, production controller Dixon Poduthas and Sreeraj AKD are the executive producers of this movie.

Omar Lulu’s debut movie Happy Wedding was a sleeper hit, enjoying a theatrical run of over 100 days. The movie devoid of any big stars worked with the audience mainly due to the humour and the entertainment factor, that an average movie- goer normally expects.

Riding on the success of Happy Wedding, Omar Lulu has written the story of this movie. It is scripted by three newbies, Sanoop Thykoodam, Joseph Vijeesh and Aneesh Hameed. They have jointly written the screenplay and dialogues.

Aannadam fame Vishak Nair, Balu Varghese, Ganapathi and Dharmajan Bolgatty are playing the main leads in this movie. Mareena Michael who was noted for her cameo role in Happy Wedding is also playing an important character. The team is yet to announce the main female lead.

Gopi Sunder is composing the music for this movie while Honey Bee fame Alby will be handling the camera. Dilip Dennies is in charge of the editor. Pulimurugan’s art director Joseph Nellickal is also part of the team.

First look poster of the movie will be unveiled today and it is scheduled to go on floors on February 9.

Mohanlal continued shooting enduring infection: Major Ravi

Mohanlal is currently shooting in Georgia for the final schedule of Major Ravi’s 1971: Beyond Borders. The actor is playing a dual role in the movie. He is reprising the role of Major Mahadevan for fourth time after Keerthichakra, Kurukshetra and Kandahar. Another character played by him is that of Mahadevan’s father, Major Sahadevan who fought in the 1971 war between India and Pakistan.

The shooting team had to endure tiring climatic conditions in Rajasthan to complete the first schedule. The director recently opened up on the hardships the team had to face while shooting. Major portions of the movie is set in Rajasthan where the battle tank fights were being filmed. Climatic conditions of the area during that period was very rough as the sun was scorching during the day time and it was freezing cold during the nights. Add to that, the location was inhabited by several poisonous snakes. Though the team had apprehensions to shoot at such tiring conditions, Mohanlal gave the much needed confidence and asked the director to take the shoot forward. All the crew members were advised to wear military boots and special snake repellant sprays were sprayed in the entire location.

To shoot the war sequences, the team had to burn 50 tyres. While rest of the crew members had the liberty to wear a mask to protect them from the poisonous gases released after burning, Mohanlal had no option as he was shooting as the character. As a result, after three days of continuous shooting, he got infected and had to take antibiotics. But being the thorough professional that he is, Mohanlal continued to shoot for the movie.
Finally, the team successfully completed their first schedule in the testing conditions of Rajasthan. After a brief gap, the second schedule was completed in Ottapalam.

Now the team is shooting in Georgia for Mahadevan’s parts, who is now a Colonel working in the UNO peace keeping battalion. Currently, they are shooting for some riveting action sequences choreographed by Mafia Sasi.

1971 : Beyond Borders is a big budget movie which also features Tollywood hero Allu Sirish and Bollywood actor Arunoday Singh in pivotal characters. The movie is being produced by Haneef Mohammed under the banner Red Rose Creations.

After a lot of speculations, the team of Dulquer Salmaan- Amal Neerad’s upcoming movie has announced their title. The movie is titled as CIA- Comrade In America. Dulquer Salmaan unveiled the title with a poster in his official Facebook page.

The movie scripted by Shibin Francis is about a youngster from Kottayam region who travels to the US in pursuit of his girlfriend. Dulquer is playing the character Aji Mathew in the movie. It was earlier reported that Dulquer’s character in the movie is a communist supporter and it has now been confirmed with the title CIA- Comrade In America.

Newcomer Karthika Muraleedharan is playing the female lead in this movie which also features Soubin Shahir, Jinu Jospeh, John Vijay in pivotal roles. Some foreign artists are also part of the cast.

Maheshinte Prathikaram fame Lijomol Jose is playing the female lead in this movie. She recently played one of the female lead roles in Nadirshah’s Kattappanayile Rithwik Roshan.

The movie directed by debutant Shyju Anthikad, happens in the sets of Honey Bee 2. Artists acting in the latter will be seen in the background of this movie.

Mammootty’s The Great Father is gearing up for a grand release on March 30. Motion poster of this much anticipated movie was released on January 30.

The 55 second video was opened to tremendous reception. Already the video has garnered nearly 7 lakh views with 31k likes. This is a phenomenal figure considering that its been just two days since the release.

Likes count of the motion poster is very close to the lifetime count of some of the biggies like Suriya’s Singam 3, SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2 and Vijay’s Kaththi.

The motion poster of Singam 3 aka Si3 was released on 27 October last year and has till now registered
31,992 likes. Baahubali : 2’s motion poster was released on October 22 last year and the count stands at
32,399. Vijay’s blockbuster movie Kaththi’s motion poster was released on June 21, 2014 and th3 lifetime counts stand at 35,178.

In today’s scenario, YouTube views and likes count have a considerable impact on the publicity of the movie. If the Mammootty starrer can better the numbers of these biggies, it is indeed a matter of pride for the so called small industry.

Mohanlal’s upcoming movie with director B Unnikrishnan already has a bandwagon of prominent stars from the South Indian industry. Looks like the director is planning something really big as he has roped in one of the top South Indian heroines, Hansika Motwani to play an important role in the movie.

This will be Hansika’s debut movie in Malayalam and what better than a Mohanlal starrer as a launch vehicle. The director himself has confirmed the news and said that, though the character will be a small one, it will be very pivotal to the plot.

Earlier we had reported that popular Kollywood hero Vishal and Tollywood actor Srikanth will be playing prominent roles in the movie. Both the actors are also making their Mollywood debut through this movie.

This yet-to-be-titled movie will be made as big budget movie with a production cost of Rs 30 crores. Rockline Venkatesh who has produced biggies like Superstar Rajinikanth’s Lingaa and Salman Khan’s Bhajrangi Bhaijaan is funding this movie.

Mohanlal is playing the role of an ex-cop in this movie which will be a crime thriller dealing with complex relationships. Apart from the stellar star cast, B Unnikrishnan has also assembled a strong technical team roping in some of the best available technicians.

The movie will have much significance to VFX and special effects. An international company from Poland will be handling the VFX works. Acclaimed cinematographer Manoj Paramahamsa known for his works in movies like Vinnai Thandi Varuvaya and Nanban will be handling the camera. Oppam fame 4 Musics have been roped in for the music department.

Baahubali 2: The Conclusion does a pre-release business of Rs 500 crores

One movie the entire nation is looking forward this year is director SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2: The Conclusion. The movie scheduled to release for April 28, is the sequel to Baahubali : The Beginning, the all time blockbuster released in 2015.

According to latest reports, this big budget movie has made some unprecedented pre-release business for a South Indian movie. It is reported that the film has already done a business of more than Rs 500 crore.

Baahubali 2, like the first part is also a multilingual in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi. Famous Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions has brought the Hindi version of the film. The theatrical rights of the Hindi version has been bagged for a whopping Rs 120 crore. The Hindi version of Baahubali : The Beginning did record collections in 2015. It became the first south Indian movie dubbed in Hindi to collect Rs 100 crore at the Bollywood box office. Hence, such whopping amounts are being invested on the second part.

Baahubali 2, has also made more than Rs 130 crore from the sales of its theatrical rights in Telugu states. The Tamil Nadu rights have fetched Rs 47 crore, which is the highest price paid for a non-Rajinikanth film. In Karnataka, the sale of film’s distribution rights has made Rs 45 crores and Rs 10 crore in Kerala. The distribution rights of North America has also earned Rs 45 crore.

Satellite rights of the movie were also sold for a record amount. Sony TV Network has bought the Hindi satellite rights reportedly for a whopping price of Rs 51 crore. This is the highest ever price for a Hindi dubbed movie and also the highest ever the network has paid for a regional film for television screening. The satellite rights of all versions of Baahubali: The Beginning were bought for Rs 45 crore.

Satellite rights of the Telugu version of Baahubali 2, have been sold for Rs 26 crore. The numbers of Tamil and Malayalam version are not yet knwon.

When taking into account the sales of the movie’s US theatrical rights, satellite rights of its Tamil and Malayalam versions and the audio rights, the movie is certain to have done a pre-release business of over 500 crores.

The movie is currently in it’s post-production stage. Director SS Rajamouli had earlier mentioned that the new movie will have more visual grandeur and VFX works than the previous part. Cine lovers across the country are waiting for the movie’s release.

For the past few months, gossip columns were busy linking actors Dhyan Sreenivasan and Namitha Pramod. Ever since it was announced that Dhyan Sreenivasan is planning to settle down this year, Namitha Pramod’s name has been doing the rounds.

Putting an end to all the speculations, Sreenivasan has revealed the name of his son’s bride. Dhyan will be marrying Arpitha Sebastian, a techie from Trivandrum. Their marriage is fixed to be held on April 7 in Kannur.

Namitha Pramod and Dhyan Sreenivasan got caught up in the rumours after they worked together in debutant John Varghese’s Adi Kappyare Kootamani. It was even reported that the two are planning to get married soon. However, the actress’ father made it clear that his daughter is not marrying Dhyan. He said, “Dhyan is planning to marry another girl. I am not sure how Namitha’s name got caught here. Earlier also similar baselss rumours were reported.”

Dhyan Sreenivasan made his entry to movies in 2013 through Thira directed by his brother Vineeth Sreenivasan. Later he starred in movies like Kunjiramayanam, Adi Kappyare Kootamani. His last release was Ore Mugham in which he played the lead character Zachariah Pothen.

There are also reports that he is planning to debut as a filmmaker soon. Dhyan himself had mentioned his wish to become a director in many interviews. He had plans to make a spoof movie, but later dropped the idea after the release of Chirakodinja Kinavukal, another spoof movie helmed by newcomer Santhosh Viswanath.

We had recently reported that director Omar Lulu who shot to fame with his debut movie Happy Wedding, is gearing up to start his next project titled as Chunkzz. Sreenath Bhasi was initially said to play one of the lead characters in the movie. However, now we hear that Aanandam fame Vishak Nair has replaced him.

Sources close to the camp inform that Sreenath Bhasi was replaced due to his busy schedule. Shoot for Honey Bee 2 : Celebrations, which he is currently working on, got extended and that forced him opt out of Omar Lulu’s movie.

Vishak Nair garnered appreciation from the critics and the audience alike for his performance as the jovial Kuppi in Aanandam. He was also roped in for ace filmmaker Ranjith’s upcoming movie Puthan Panam with Mammootty in the lead.

Apart from Vishak, Chunkzz will also feature Balu Varghese, Ganapathi and Dharmajan Bolgatty in pivotal characters. Mareena Michael who was noted for her brief appearance in Happy Wedding is also playing an important character in the movie. The team is yet to announce the main female lead.
