Nee-na fame Deepti Sati to play the female lead in Mammootty’s nextt

We had earlier reported that Mammootty’s next after Puthan Panam will be helmed by 7th day fame Shyam Dhar. The director had earlier announced the news through his official Facebook account.

The movie will be a complete family entertainer entirely different from the director’s debut movie 7th day, a dark thriller. Nee-na fame Deepti Sati and Asha Sarath has been roped in to play the female leads in this movie.

Mammootty plays a native of Idukki, who comes to Ernakulam as a teacher trainer in this movie. Shyam Dhar said, “Mammootty’s character in the movie considers every teacher a child and they love his lectures as he connects and explains everything with an anecdote. On the whole, he is a fabulous story teller and the film will reveal the reasons for the same.”

Asha Sharath plays a teacher in the movie while Deepti Sati will be playing a totally different role from her previous movie.

Story and screenplay for this movie will be written by debutant Ratheesh Ravi. B Rakesh will be producing this movie. He is also funding Nivin Pauly’s upcoming political drama Sakhavu directed by Sidhartha Siva.

The Mammootty starrer also features Innocent, Dileesh Pothen, Hareesh Kanaran and Sohan Seenulal in pivotal roles. The movie will go on floors on February 1. Ernakulam and Idukki are the major locations.

Suriya’s much anticipated Singam 3 aka Si3, third movie in the popular Singam franchise will be releasing on February 10. The team of Si3 have been promoting their movie visiting many centres in Tamil Nadu Kerala and the Telugu states.

The team recently organized a press where a lot of people from the cast and crew spoke about the movie. Producer K.E Gnanavel Raja apologised to Suriya’s fans for the repetitive postponements and delays in the movie’s release. Release date of Si3 got postponed to around 4-5 times due to reasons best known to the makers. The producer reassured that the film will satisfy the audience with it’s strong content and racy screenplay.

K.E Gnanavel Raja who owns the production house Studio Green is a close relative of Suriya. He has funded and distributed many movies of Suriya and his brother Karthi. During the press meet he sounded very confident and claimed that the Hari directorial will surely rock. He said that Suriya has the second biggest market business wise in Kollywood after Rajinikanth and his Telugu market is also extraordinary.

Suriya has a huge fan base in Andhra and Telangana where the Telugu dubbed version will release. He added that Si3 will be a sure shot success and there is no stopping the movie. However he refused to disclose numbers related to the business but he assured that Suriya’s Si3 will be a profitable venture for all the distributors and theatre owners. KE Gnanavel Raja was all praise for director Hari and his style of filmmaking during the press meet.

Si3 has two female leads in Anushka Shetty and Shruthi Haasan. Bollywood actor Anoop Thakur Singh is playing the baddie in this movie. Radhika Sarathkumar, Robo Shankar, Soori, Vijayakumar, Radha Ravi, Chaams, Krish and many others has played supporting characters.

Harris Jayaraj has composed the song while Priyan has handled the cinematography. The movie is together funded by Studio Green, Pen Movies, Aadnah Arts.

Social media was abuzz last day with news about Sanusha’s death in a car accident. Photos of the actress and a damaged Innova car was attached to make it look more believable. The death hoax soon went viral. Sanusha who was on a Mookambika trip with her family was flooded with phone calls from friends, relatives and well wishers who enquired about her well being. The actress realized the reasons for the phone calls only later and further enquiry revealed that some Whatsapp groups were behind this outrageous act.

Sanusha has informed that she will show up on Facebook live to reveal more about the fake news. The actress is planning to file a legal case against the miscreants. This is the second time, the actress has been caught up in the traps of rumours. Last year, there were reports of her alleged love affair with actor Unni Mukundan. Following that, photos of the duo getting married went viral. But in reality, the circulated photos were the loaction stills from their movie Oru Murai Vanthu Parthaya.

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s latest outing Raees has been doing good business worldwide. The movie is all set to enter the 100 crore club. Raees would be SRK’s seventh film to make it to the elite club. This gangster drama has already raked in around Rs 93.24 crores during the weekend. The movie has set a new record for the highest ever weekend grosser with two or more releases.

Raees also registered a new record for the highest collection on Republic Day. This movie directed by Rahul Dholakia minted a whopping Rs 26.30 crores on January 26.

Queen, a movie about the story of a girl who joins mechanical engineering department is all set to start rolling. The movie stars newcomers in the lead roles, while some senior actors will also be part of the cast.

Mechanical engineering is generally considered as a boys’ only department. What happens when a girl joins the department? The plot of the Queen discusses the same. Directed by debutant Dijo Jose Antony, the first look poster released by the team has invoked curiosity among the youngsters of the State.

The posters resembles a photo that went viral during the 2015 Onam. The photo was taken during the Onam celebration of Mechanical engineering department students of Sree Buddha Engineering College in Pattoor. It was shared by students on social media platforms and it soon went viral.

Ask the director about the poster’s resemblance to the photo, he said, “That photo sparked an idea for our movie. We developed a story for our debut venture inspired by the photo. Me and my scriptwriters, Jebin Joseph Antony and Sharis Muhammed are all engineers. So we decided to visit the college and the Chairman to know more about the background of mechanical engineers today.”

Director Dijo Jose Antony has assured that the movie will be an fun filled entertainer that will be liked by the auidence of all age groups. He said, “The movie will have a refreshingly new flavour of life and would definitely connect with all audiences, engineers and non-engineers alike”.

A new production and distribution company Arabian Dreams and Entertainment headed by Rinu and Shibu K Moideen will be producing this movie. Interestingly, both the producers are also mechanical engineers.

“Being in a mechanical engineering batch is a very different experience and this movie will definitely have a signature of its own”, says the producers.

The movie will start rolling in March, 2017. Casting call for the lead roles will commence soon.

Dileep to team up with Jayasurya again

Janapriya Nayakan Dileep who is awaiting the release of his next movie Georgettan’s Pooram directed by Dr Love fame K Biju has signed a new project. The movie will be helmed by Jayasurya who has previously directed Dileep in Speed track.

According to sources, this yet to be titled movie will also be a racy suspense thriller. The movie will be produced by Shibu Thameens under the banner Thameens Films. They have earlier produced biggies in Kollywood like Vijay’s Puli and Vikram’s last release Irumugan.

Dileep meanwhile is working on multiple projects. Kammara Sambhavam directed by ad filmmaker turned director Ratheesh Ambat is a highly anticipated movie. Script for the movie is written by actor/writer Murali Gopy. Dileep will be seen in different looks for the movie which also marks the Malayalam debut of popular actor Sidharth. Not much is known about the genre or the other cast details as the makers have been tight-lipped about the project. Gokulam Gopalan is producing this movie under the banner Sri Gokulam Films.

The actor is also shooting for Ramaleela, a political thriller directed by debutant Arun Gopi and written by Sachi. Prayaga Rose Martin is playing the female lead in this movie which also features veteran Kollywood actress Radhika Sarath Kumar in a pivotal role. Tomichan Mulakupadam is producing this movie under his banner Mulakupadam Films.

After finishing his portions for these two projects, Dileep will join the sets of Professor Dinkan directed by Ramachandra Babu.

Omar Lulu who made his entry to Mollywood last year through the super hit movie Happy Wedding is currently working on his next project titled as Chunkzz. The movie will introduce three newbie scriptwriters to Mollywood. Sanoop Thykoodam, Joseph Vijeesh and Aneesh Hameed have together written the screenplay and dialogues for Omar Lulu’s story.

The movie will star mostly newcomers in the lead roles. Going by the title, it is believed that it will be a very youthful movie based on friendship. His debut movie Happy Wedding also had a similar setting. The director cleverly roped in the Premam team of Siju Wilson, Sharafudheen, Soubin Shahir and Justin John to play the lead roles. The movie was a rollicking entertainer thanks to the amazing humour timing of the artists. Happy Wedding was a sleeper hit which enjoyed a theatrical run of around 100 days. Made on a shoestring budget, the movie reaped huge profits for the producer.

Chunkzz had a strong technical team. Gopi Sunder will be composing the music for this fun filled entertainer. Honey Bee fame Alby will be cranking the camera while Dilip Dennies will handle the cuts. He has earlier worked in movies like 24 North Kaatham, Happy Wedding, and Guppy. Pulimurugan’s art director Joseph Nellickal is also part of the team.

The same will go on floors on February 9.

Aamir Khan’s sports drama Dangal has turned into an all time blockbuster shattering several records at the box office. The movie did a business worth over Rs 300 crore within 17 days of its release. While the makers were earning huge profits, Mahavir Singh Phogat, on whose life the film is based on, has got a measly amount but he is satisfied with what he is got.

It is learnt that Mahavir Singh Phogat was paid around Rs 80 lakhs for narrating his family journey to achieve glory in the 2010 Commonwealth Games. Though Phogat happy with the amount, his relatives feel that the amount was very measly when compared to the business the movie has done worldwide.

The Phogat family have invested the money to buy some high yielding buffaloes since milk products form a part of the daily diet of most of the wrestlers in India. His dream of setting up an academy in his village Balali in Haryana is also coming true. They are in talks with the government regarding the institute and are waiting for a green signal.

Dangal was inspired from the life of a national level wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat who trained his daughters to world class players in the sport. Mahavir Singh Phogat has four daughters- Geeta Kumari, Babita, Sangeeta and Ritu. Aamir Khan essayed Mahavir Singh Phogat’s character while Fatima Sana Sheikh, Sanya Malhotra, Zaira Wasim and Suhani Bhatnagar portrayed the Geeta and Babita’s parts in the movie.

Geeta was the first Indian woman wrestler to win gold at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi. Last year, the girls’ success won their father the prestigious Dronacharya Award, given for the best coach.

The attack on Bollywood filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali by the
Rajput Karni Sena workers have been severely condemned by film personalities across the country. The director was slapped and assaulted by members of Karni Sena who staged an angry protest at Jaigarh fort where he was shooting for his next, Padmavati. The protesters alleged that the film has love scenes between Queen Padmini and ruler Alauddin Khilji, played by actors Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh.

A video taken during the incident has gone viral, protesters are seen running berserk, damaging cameras and other shooting equipment while raising slogans and mouthing foul language and abuses in Hindi. They vandalised the sets erected for shooting.

Bollywood celebrities, including filmmakers Anurag Kashyap, Farhan Akthar, Karan Johar, Ram Gopal Varma and Madhur Bhandarkar along with actors Hrithik Roshan and Sonam Kapoor have expressed their anger after the incident.

“Mr Bhansali , Sir. I stand with you. This is so infuriating!!!!”

Karan Johar tweeted,
“Am appalled at what has happened with Sanjay Bhansali….this is the time for all us as an industry to stand by our people and fraternity!!”

“Having been through many instances of turmoil during a film shoot or release…I understand Sanjay’s emotion at this point…I stand by him,” he added.

Farhan Akthar tweeted,
“My fellow film folk, if we do not unite now against these recurring incidents of bullying, it’s going to get much worse.“
