Great initial response for Mohanlal’s Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol

Mohanlal’s latest release Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol was released today in 337 theatres across India. The movie directed by Jibu Jacob was released amidst good hype. After the morning shows were collected, we see unanimously positive reviews for the movie across social media platforms.

Looks like Ulahannan and his family have won over the auidence with their lovely story. Sindhuraj has did a great job in adapting the famous short story Pranayopanishath into a cinematic format with equal blend of humor and emotions.

Mohanlal’s performance has been widely appreciated by the audience. The actor is in his charming best once the romance blooms between him and Aniyamma, played by Meena.

The supporting cast includes Anoop Menon, Srinda Arhaan, Kalabhavan Shajon, Alencier Ley, Rahul Madhav, Neha Saxena, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Sharafudheen, Asha Sarath etc.

Collection Report : Opening day record for Jomonte Suvisheshangal

Dulquer Salmaan’s much anticipated family entertainer Jomonte Suvisheshangal directed by senior director Sathyan Anthikad was released yesterday. The movie opened to generally good reviews with some complaints about the tried and tested formula. But that didn’t stop the movie from setting a new opening day collection record in the Kochi multiplexes. The movie registered a record 17.8 lakhs from the first day itself.

The record was previously held by another Dulquer Salmaan- Charlie (16.86 lakhs) released in 2015. Third on the list is Nivin Pauly’s Action Hero Biju (15.25 lakhs) followed by Kali (15.07 lakhs) and Pulimurugan (14.97 lakhs).

Jomonte Suvisheshangal written by Dr Iqbal Kuttippuram deals with a heartwarming father-son relationship. Veteran actor Mukesh has played Dulquer’s father in this movie. Chemistry between the two actors have been widely appreciated.

Premam fame Anupama Parameswaran and Kollywood actress Aishwarya Rajesh have played the female leads. Supporting actors include Muthumani Vinu Mohan, Manobala, Jacob Gregory, Manobala, Irshad Innocent, Shivaji Guruvayoor, Rasna Pavithran, Nandu etc.

Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol Review

Mohanlal’s next after the historic success of Pulimurugan, Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol was released today in 337 thetares across India. This much anticipated movie is directed by Vellimoonga fame Jibu Jacob and also marks the joining together of Drishyam couple Mohanlal and Meena once again.

Into the plot, Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol is a story about Ulahnnan, fondly called as Unnachan, and his family. Unnachan, a panchayath secretary is married to Aniyamma and the couple has two kids. He has a somber relationship with his wife. Both of them find solace somewhere else- Unnachan with his neighboring friends and Aniyamma like any other middle class homemaker- Tv serials. Venu Kuttan (Anoop Menon), his neighbor is also a married guy but unlike Unnachan he is into some extra marital relationships. This provokes Ulahannan also to try a hand in a new relationship. That is when Julie (Neha Saxena) comes into his life but that relationship doesn’t work. At a particular instance Ulahannan realizes his feelings for Aniyamma and the grapevine of love sprouts once again between them. The second half elevates the mood further with a mix of emotions and relationship values and all this is done without touching the preachy side.

M Sindhuraj has written this script based on the short story Pranayopanishath written by James VJ. The screenplay is well-balanced without any real dull moments. Unlike Vellimoonga, where it was counter comedy, most of the humour in this movie are situational. Jibu Jacob has churned out a perfect entertainer and has not succumbed to the pressures of helming a star vehicle.

Technically, a slight glitch we could see was the overuse of helicam shots and the CG works used to show Ulahannan’s younger days.

Coming to the performance side, director Jibu Jacob in a recent interview said “no one else could play Ulahannan”. The director was spot on. Though many filmmakers in recent times have claimed that the audience will get to see the Mohanlal of old times in their movies, we got to see only half baked characters. But not this time around, Ulahannan had enough elements for the old Mohanlal to come back on screen. It looks like the actor has thoroughly enjoyed playing the role. We could see his trademark wits, charm and many other ‘Mohanlal’ moments.

Meena played Aniyamma’s role perfectly. Anoop Menon as Venukuttan was a delight to watch on screen. His role had a lot of scope for humour and he gave a fine performance. Aima Rose Sebastian, Kalabhavan Shajon, Alencier Ley, Srinda Arhaan and all other supporting artists have played their parts well.

Suraj Venjaramoodu’s role had shadows of many such characters he has played in the past. The usually reliable Asha Sharath’s role also could have been avoided.

Overall, Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol is a clean entertainer for the audience especially the families to enjoy wholeheartedly.

We recommend this as a must watch for all the families out there. Sure shot blockbuster.

Adam 2017 : Prithviraj and Narain to team up again

Narain has been a lucky co-star for Prithviraj. The two have worked together in three movies and all three of them have become commercial successes. After their collaboration in Classmates, Robin Hood and Ayalum Njanum Thammil, the duo will once again share screen space in the upcoming movie Adam 2017 directed by scriptwriter turned filmmaker Jinu Abraham.

Adam 2017 will have Prithviraj in the title character Adam John Pothen, a high range planter who manages his family business and properties after his father passes away.

Major portions of the movie will be shot in Scotland. This is where Narain’s portions will be filmed. He is playing Cyriac, Adam’s friend from college. Adam comes across Cyriac when he travels to Scotland, and he helps him in his journey. Reportedly, Narain will play a good-natured character who has many contacts and helps Adam throughout the story. The actor has got meaty role and lengthy screen time in this movie.

Director Jinu Abraham has earlier written the scripts for two movies starring Prithviraj in the lead- Masters and London Bridge.

Bollywood actress Mishti Chakraborty is playing the love interest of Prithviraj’s character in the film. Bhavana and Rahul Madhav are also playing pivotal characters in the movie. The director earlier in an interview has said that Bhavana will have a plum role with equal prominence to the heroine.

Veteran actor Siddique, Jaya Menon and Baby Abida Hussain, who played Akshay Kumar’s daughter in Airlift, are also part of the cast.

Adam is produced by CS Stanly and Jose Simon under the banner of Mass Media Productions.

Zaira Wasim, the teen age actor who grabbed the attention of the audience across the country with her marvellous performance in Dangal is now a victim of social media trolls. The 16 year old girl from Kashmir was trolled heavily in social media platforms after her meeting with Jammu and Kashmir Cheif Minister Mufti Mehbooba.

The J&K Chief Minister called Zaira Wasim as a role model and this apparently lead to all the backlash.
Both the women were called Indian agents. This forced Zaira to write two posts on Facebook saying she doesn’t want to be considered a role model. She later deleted these posts.

Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan today has come out in full support of his Dangal co-star. He wrote,

“I have read Zaira’s statement, and I can understand and imagine what lead her to make that statement. Zaira, I want you to know that we are all with you. The beauty is that bright, young, talented, hardworking, respectful, caring and courageous kids like you are a role model for kids not only in India, but across the world. You certainly are a role model for me! May god bless you. Love. Aamir,”

He added a P.S.: “I appeal to everyone to now leave her alone and respect the fact that she is just a 16 yr old girl trying her best to deal with life.”

Support has been flowing in from many corners for Zaira. Cricketer Gautham Gambhir, actor Anupam Kher, Union Minister Jitendra Singh, J&K opposition leader Omar Abdullah, wrestler Geeta Phogat, whom she played in Dangal, also defended teenage film star.

Zaira Wasim had earlier written in her Facebook page,

“I am being projected as a role model for Kashmiri Youth. I want to make it very clear that I do not want anyone to follow in my footsteps or even consider me as a role model. I’m not proud of what I’m doing and I want everyone, especially the Youth, to know that there are real role models out there whether they be in this time or history. To even consider me as a role model would be disgracing them and their disgrace would be our disgrace,”

We had earlier reported about Suriya promoting his upcoming release Singam 3 in Kerala. The movie’s titled was recently changed to C3. The actor met his fans and press people last day in Trivandrum.

While waving to his fans the actor noticed a handicapped person in the crowd and went near him. The physically challenged person was a Vijay fan, he presented Suriya a gift and asked him if he could pass it to actor Vijay. Suriya without any hesitation or ego accepted it and also promised to deliver the gift to Vijay. This is indeed a very sweet gesture by Suriya.

Both the actors enjoy massive fan base in the State. Vijay’s latest release Bairavaa is successfully running in theatres in Kerala.

Singam 3 aka S3 aka C3 is scheduled to hit screens worldwide on January 26. It is the third installment in the popular Singam franchise. Directed by Hari, this movie will once again have Suriya donning the khakis and reprising the role of Durai Singam. Anushka Shetty and Shruthi Haasan play female leads in this movie.

Pulimurugan beats Bajrangi Bhaijaan’s record in UAE

Superstar Mohanlal’s Pulimurugan has successfully completed 75 days theatrical run across the cinemas of UAE on Monday. The action packed entertainer directed by Vysakh hit screens in UAE on November 3.

On Tuesday, Pulimurugan emerged as the third highest running film at the UAE box office. The movie has successfully overhauled the theatrical run of Bollywood superstar Salman Khan’s blockbuster movie Bajrangi Bhaijaan.

The Salman Khan starrer was released for Eid in 2015. The movie enjoyed a theatrical run for 75 days across the cinemas of UAE.

Even after 75 days, Pulimurugan is still running to packed houses across the limited screens in Sharjah and Dubai. The movie is only behind Mohanlal’s 2013 blockbuster Drishyam and the 1997 Hollywood classic Titanic at the UAE box office.

Drishyam holds the record for the highest running film in UAE with 125 days while the classic love story Titanic had a theatrical run of 110 days.

Pulimurugan has so far collected an excellent Rs. 37 crore at the UAE Box Office. It has broken the lifetime collections of many blockbuster Bollywood movies including Aamir Khan’s PK, Shah Rukh Khan’s Happy New Year and Hrithik Roshan’s Bang Bang

Pulimurugan has crossed the 100 days theatrical run in Kerala. The movie is still running successfully in many thetares across the State. This action packed entertainer was written by Udhayakrishna and directed by Vysakh. Tomichan Mulakupadam produced this movie under the banner Mulakupadam Films.

Dulquer Salmaan’s latest release directed by veteran Sathyan Anthikkad hit screens today amidst high expectations. Let’s cut straight to the plot.

It deals with a businessman Vincent, played by Mukesh, who started from a humble background and has now reached the pinnacles of success through his hard work. He is a widower with 4 children, two girls and two boys. Muthumani plays the eldest of the siblings, then Vinu Mohan, Dulquer Salmaan and Oozham fame Rasna Pavithran. The movie begins with the youngest sibling Rasna’s wedding. Dulquer’s character Jomon is an easy going irresponsible youth, a representative of today’s generation. But at one point, their family business hits rock bottom and the rest of the plot deals with how Vincent and Jomon win back their business empire.

Dulquer Salmaan’s Jomon has striking similarities to Jayaram’s Roy from Veendum Chila Veetukaryangal also directed by Sathyan Anthikkad. But the actor has brought some much needed freshness through his charming performance. Mukesh’s performance as Vincent is his best in recent times. All the supporting actors including Anupama Parameswaran, Aishwarya Rajesh, Jacob Gregory, Vinu Mohan, Muthumani, Sivaji Guruvayoor have all played their parts well.

Dr Iqbal Kuttippuram’s script has nothing new to offer but the situational humour and the lead cast’s performance makes up for the flaws in the script. The director has cleverly played it to the galleries in many scenes to please Dulquer’s fans.

Technically, the movie is much more superior than Sathyan Anthikad’s previous movies. But CG works are a big let down.

Jomonte Suvisheshangal has some resemblance to Nivin Pauly’s Jacobinte Swargarajyam. Mukesh’s Vincent is very much similar to Renji Panicker’s Jacob. While it was steel business in the Nivin Pauly starrer, here it is textile exports.

In a nutshell, Jomonte Suvisheshangal delivers what we expect from a Sathyan Anthikkad movie- a feel good entertainer with perfect balance of humour and emotions. Don’t go in with high expectations after watching the director’s interviews. It is nothing but an one time watch clean entertainer.

There is an exciting news coming in from Bollywood. Superstar Mohanlal is reportedly being considered to play an important character in Bollywood’s first ever space movie Chandamama Door Ke.

According to the reports, the team for this space adventure is considering Mohanlal to play a pivotal character in the movie. Though the character will not have much of screen time, it will be a very integral part to the plot. They also believe that only an actor of Mohanlal’s stature could pull off this particular role.

Chandamama Door Ke is directed by Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan. He has spent a lot of time researching for the movie at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) in USA. He has directed only one movie so far, but his debut work Lahore won awards at the national and many internationally stages. He also won the Indira Gandhi Award for best first film of a director at the 2009 National Film Awards.

Sushant Singh Rajput will play the lead role in this movie. Recently, the creative director of UTV Motion Pictures Divya Rao mentioned that Mohanlal and Kamal Haasan was their next choice if Aamir Khan had not signed the movie.

Chandamama Door Ke is scheduled to go on floors by June. Mohanlal’s participation in the movie is still not confirmed. Let’s wait for official announcement from the team.
